By Taye Obateru & Inalegwu Shaibu, with agency reports JOS—DESPITE the resolution by the House of Representatives for the redeployment of Batch ‘A’ 2010 NYSC members from Plateau, some of the corps members have rejected the redeployment. A News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, correspondent who visited the Jos Orientation Camp, yesterday, said that 1,015 out of the 1,211 corps members have registered, with more still arriving. Meantime, the new Assistant Inspector General, AIG, in charge of Zone 4, Mr. Donald Iroham, who has been asked to oversee security in the wake of unending violence in the state, has vowed that sponsors of the violence would be exposed and dealt with in accordance with the law. NYSC members adamant Some of the corps members said they were ready to serve their fatherland in Plateau and that the security problem was not limited to the state but was a national issue. Jemila Benzi, an indigene of Adamawa, said that though the National Assembly was representing the people and had the interest of the citizens at heart, she was comfortable serving in Plateau. She said: “I am comfortable wherever I am sent to serve my fatherland. Anywhere I am sent, I will go because I believe that God has a plan for me. Though we are not happy with the crisis, we believe things will get better. Definitely I am not getting any redeployment, I am staying here because I am enjoying the weather, the food and the hospitality of the people. “You can never get some of the foods and the weather they have on the Plateau elsewhere in this nation. I love this state though there are challenges, I believe things will be okay.” Another member, Joshua Danjuma from Gombe State, said: “I am not seeking for any redeployment because I have made up my mind to serve the country. I will definitely stay and serve. My advice to government is to provide adequate security for all Nigerians. It is not only in Plateau.” Yetunde Aluko from Osun said she would not have considered redeployment but for the pressure from her parents and other family members. She said: “I want to redeploy simply because my family members are not happy that I’m here now and they are very worried. I really feel I should redeploy to another state in the North.” For Oguntoye Olanrewaju from Ogun, he was redeploying from Plateau on health grounds but would have loved to serve in the state. He said: “If not for the medical reason which I want to redeploy, I wouldn’t mind staying here as there is not much pressure from my parents. All they told me was to try as much as possible to keep to the words of our officials in the camp and behave responsibly so no pressure from them.” Obong Cletus, an accountancy graduate from the University of Calabar, said every Nigerian needed security and urged the government to secure the lives and property of the citizens. Cletus wondered what would happen to the thousands of batches ‘B’ and ‘C’ corps members to be posted to Plateau. He asked: “Are they also going to be redeployed? Will the government redeploy the NYSC officials, civil servants and new students of higher institutions?” Head of Public Relations in the NYSC in Plateau, Mr. Sam Nkwopara, said that redeployment forms were given to the entire Batch ‘A’ corps members but that less than 400 had indicated their interests to redeploy. Nkwopara said: “We gave all of them redeployment forms but some who submitted have come back to withdraw them but we say no, until they write letters of withdrawal again. Most of those who wanted redeployment are those with medical and marital reasons. Don’t forget that some of those in camp have their parents, husbands and families here in Jos and have nowhere to redeploy to.” source |
everyone posting on this thread has made a fundamental mistake: assuming it was 'students' that constituted the majority of candidates in the said NECO exams(rem. it's the nov/dec exam we're talking about here). Anyone with a reasonable amount of exposure would know that secondary school students cant be the majority, nov/dec neco is mostly taken by external candidates i.e. ppl that didn't pass through a secondary school but still need ssce certification heck where i served, a 30something year-old driver's qualification was NECO 2003 @jarus and ujujoan they also dashed me an 'A' grade in literature in english in 2002 o. . .lol |
mukina2:point taken. . . disclaimer the above does not in anyway imply that i have ceased to consider seun a nuisance (granted a reasonable one, but still a nuisance. . .lol) |
i'd appreciate that, thanks. . .yep i am. . . |
mukina2:this isn't the first time he'll be doing stuff like that, after he pursued the stockmarket ppl away from NL with his agidi, he also added the name of the new forum to the list of filtered words(thanks for reminding me sef) i'm also a member of newnigerians(dot)com ![]() but all said and done, i admit there jst might be plausible reasons to add the names to the filter, but knowing seun, i'm sure they dont exist in this situation ![]() for crissakes, dont do anything to annoy the mods is part of NL's rules. |
AjanleKoko:yep. . .but rather than lay about at home i'm considering going to system planning in HQ, if any better thing in the power sector comes along i'm out of there like yesterday. |
ayeesha:lmao |
^^you are such a nerd, you're always reading. . .kai! |
what did the man hope to achieve by the hunger strike? abeg jo. . .they should send his body to his family. . . |
ow11:thanks. . . @thread they should send naija policemen over there to deal with the gang problem. . .nonsense and ingredients |
Lagosboy:this is one of the best statements anyone has made on NL concerning the whole sout-north thingy. . . if anyone thinks me as an edo man will choose to be in a country called southern nigeria and be subjected to other tribes is stark raving merde! |
where is the link? |
@jcob which post did u get banned because of? paste a link and i'll make some noise , lets see if we can get them mods to unban you and untag the post! |
BlueDiva:kinda. . .trust me i know, combined my parents have around 60+years in the public sector, and they did good, but momsie made me promise her i wont spend more than 2yrs(at most) in PHCN if i get in now. . .lol. truth is PHCN(and the civil service in general) is a hostile environment for young ppl,(in shiroro there were ppl that didn't like me simply cos i was young and had a university degree), if you enter the civil service young (and stay), chances are you'll become a.corrupt b.frustrated c.corrupt and frustrated govt work no longer attracts the best in naija, the only reason i hang around PHCN so much is cos it's the only place in naija where i can learn what i need to learn now. . .plus the whole joining and rising through the ranks is becoming a farce, the current MD of PHCN joined PHCN as an AGM in 1991, i know competent university graduates that have been in PHCN for more than 25years and are not and prolly will never be AGMs. i can go on and on on this issue(i've given it a lot of thought), i'll prolly enter govt work at some point, but i have no intention of getting in now and stagnating. . . ![]() |
violent:we'll name him minister of interior affairs |
Lord it seems er'one is getting closer all of a sudden. . .trips. . .thank You though |
platinumnk: H2O2:it's obvious u dont have any 'igbo connection' in your harem, that's igbo for i love you! |
you lousy dimwitted twit! what makes you and your fellow retards think you know what's best for 150million people? you act so refined and smart and ish, meaniewheelie you're even more stupid than the rest of us! 'naija should spit'. . .stupid e-diot, can you handle a split?u sit over there far away from all of us and claim to know what's best ode-0shi! i can promise you this: naija will be great. . .i'mma work my hinny of just for that and if you get in my way i will hurt you. . .it's that simple! and as for you. . .insecure tart that you are. . .every statement that comes out from your mouth is an ode to stupiditeey. . .i dont even have the energy for your case sef. . .*hiss* |
Jarus:yep. . .it was after your last article there i noticed how u got your username sef. . .i felt silly lol @thread so seun added afrowa.l.l to the word filter. . .how childish! |
abj in the house. . .lol, i grew up in lagos, so i have gidi blood in me though. i live in an estate close to the games village, lived here for around 3 years, it's one of those, all the houses are the same style and same colour(colours are according to type of house though. . .as in no. of rooms). . .first off, the owner of the estate is a former senator and present vice chairman*(south east) for PDP(<---the estate developers never fail to remind us ). . .the internal road network is deteriorating, apart from that er'thing else is not bad, security-wise we have mopols that patrol the place(heck the mopols even named their part of the estate guantanamo bay. . .lol), electricity-wise, we're the largest feeder on in our 11kV station so that means light isn't sooo bad, at least it's sure there'll be light at some point in time everyday. . .as per water, we have a tank that'll last at least a week so that's covered.my major grouse with the estate is that the houses are badly built, cos when you pay for the house, you're introduced to the contractor that'll build your house(that was a couple of years ago). . .the estate is large >2000 houses and the guy was giving the contracts to his people(not necessary builders) so our house was practically built 2ce cos my parents didnt like it so they had the guy redo most of it. . .the walls have/had rising damp(@iceblue thats what you call the mould thingy) it's due to some defect in the foundation, but there's this chemical that's supposed to help sha. . .we're trying that out. as for neighbours, i have no idea who my neighbours are. . .lol, i'm serious. as for traffic, this is abuja. . .there is no traffic (ok though i must admit traffic jams are creeping in though, my parents always say it's these lagos drivers that are causing it. . .lol).lastly, we're building a new house so i'll prolly paste some of the goings-on here from time to time. . . |
