Hello Everyone,This is my first time writing here even though i read this forum a lot. However,i appreciate everyone's comment in this forum..i arrived Duestchland weeks back precisely 4th of April for summer term.

Anybody already in Göttingen or coming to Göttingen for winter(I asked because i see myself as the only Nigerian here so far and not so many blacks around)

My course of study is MSC(Tropical and international forestry) at The University of Göttingen.

Love that school, applied last year and got to d second stage after writing an entrance exam but was later dropped. The MSc I applied for pays 700 monthly to every student dey admit. E pain me die as I missed d chance. But life continues, there should b many nigerian students dia cus d Nigerian students in Germany festival was held dia last year. I av forgotten d name of d association but u can use Google to find out as dey also av a Facebook group

The reason y dey av a web page is to tell u wat dey want and if dey tell u no paper copies urs is to obey to d letter to av a chance of being admitted. If dey tell u tear ur cert into 3 and send to us, dat is dia rule if u can't obey don't apply!! Shikena!!!

Guys please I want to know if the interview is conducted over the phone at the embassy or a face to face discussion. I observed a guy talking on the phone the day I went to open my account and I felt it could be his interview cos it took a while before he left the office

It used to be face to face inside the main building upstairs where u go into d same office with the V.O and av a nice discussion in a relaxed atmosphere. But after during the Ebola scare of late last year,d changed it to outside d main building over d telephone.

I did my inside but wia Eva dey eventually use, just go prepared and knock dem out. The ova d phone stuff could even b a plus to those who are bolder over d phone and sweat in a face to face setting

The fact that we are all aspiring to achieve something means loads of sacrifice most b put into it. There are some lil infos we don't need to come back to this group to ask wen we could spare less Dan 5 mins to confirm online.

Anoda person just stated he wants to leave osogbo tomorrow to come certify documents in Lagos without taking just 5 mins to verify if d place he is going to will work or not. Won't just spending 5 mins online spare him d stress of d joney to Lagos only for him to b disappointed?

If we just spare 1/10 of d time we spend on WhatsApp, pinging and d rest just on gathering some basic info and seek help wen we get to d more advanced one, den things will work beta

Its not an issue, dey av a way off cutting open d lamination. Some of my documents were laminated and I still got dem certified with a seal

Just get in touch with the bank to know if its still active. Don't open a new one cus its d same int passport with d same details

Yes print it out and go with it. That is all u need. That is wat I used cus d embassy verifies ur admission on dia own

okay. if the person is over 30 at the beginning of schooling in Germany will they still allow the person to use public insurance? Private insurance sucks especially Mawista. Do you know any other private insurance company for foreign students?

I got to Germany last October went to enroll with mawista and my SCH rejected it, I was given instructions to go get aok, I got aok and all is history. Mind u I only clocked 30 this year february.

Even you you are over the age of 30, or if you have already completed 14 semesters of study, you are in good hands with the AOK. Students with their place of residence in Germany, who are no longer insured under the statutory system, may take out insurance as voluntary members of the AOK. In order to qualify, however, you have to provide proof of "previous insurance" covering either a total of 24 months within the last 5 years or at least 1 year (12 months) uninterrupted insurance prior to registration with a German statutory health insurance organisation.

Did you begin to use public insurance in Germany before you got to 30?

If u are still below 30 by d time u get to Germany, just sign up with AOK even if ur 30 birth day is two weeks from den. Once u sign up before u officially clock 30 u don't av to fulfill any other rule, like I said dey will call u themsef wen u clock 30 to sign a new contract. And d rule u quoted does not apply to international students provided dey are d ist company u sign up with on ur arrival in Germany even if u are above 30 wen u came

Nobody is giving anyone misinformation. If u are above 30, public insurance accept u only if u agree to pay more. Private insurance is cheaper if u are above 30 but has its own disadvantage which is dat wen u go for treatment d hospital sends u d bill ist which u av no choice but d pay before d insurance refunds u and mind u dey don't refund 100%.

If u are on public though, u don't even see any bill, just flash ur card and u get treated, d bill goes to d company. I'm above 30 and I'm with a public insurance cus my school Goethe university in Frankfurt does not accept private insurance for students on enrolment. U can finish ur enrolment and terminatinate ur contract with ur public company after a year but I don't see the need once u can pay. For the ist year its 129.99€ while from d second year its 159.99 with aok hennen if u are above 30, for below 30 its 78.99.

Private can be as low as 35€ but u can't eat ur cake and av it

@crowns2 dat is d authentic if u need. If u start at d age of 29 like I did, u start with 78.99 den few weeks to ur 30 birthday, d company invites u over to sign a new contract which will take effect two months after ur 30 birthday. It will be 129.99 for d next one year cus all German institutions don't believe u should be a student after 30 so all benefit stops once u are 30 even banks. After d one year of paying 129.99 ends, u go to 159.99 which will only be reduced wen u are married and start having kids.

To even open a bank account if u are a student above 30 is not free like if u were below 30 and dey charge u BTW 5 and 9 Euros monthly for d account

So the elderly ones in this thread took a break and little kids took over. If not little kid and dia mentality, I don't understand how graduates seeking to go for masters will b arguing over who owns a nickname on nairaland.

Most of the accusations are very true. I served in IMO state Owerri last year nysc and know dat Rocha's is one of d greatest scam gov in Nigeria. If APC had picked him for dia president, I would never have supported him.

I think a lot of guys here misunderstood my response to the guy who has d admission to Canada but less money and I need to set d records straight.

Ist of, I av Neva had reasons to regret my coming to germany. Being in Germany at this time is d best thing to av Eva happen to me and my family. I am having d best time of my life here and despite d obstacles and challenges dat come with being in Germany, it could av bin worse cus I could av being another unemployed graduate on d streets of Lagos moving around with my CV.

That been said, I see coming to Germany as a great stepping stone for me and others that are here and not a bus stop cus many things are involved. My advice to d guy was based on two factors

1 leaving certainty for uncertainty
2 the language discrimination issue we Nigerian students face here before we can integratete

If he already has a German and Canadian admission, I will tell him to come to Germany but y should he leave something half sure for one not sure.

As regards my comment to flog him if I see him in Germany, I was only trying to crack a joke and lighten things up around here cus this room is getting too tense of late due to our ogas stepping on each others toes. Love u all

1.i hv gotten admission in canada and u hv latest 30th of this month to pay tuition fee for ist semester.i can pay for the tuiton fee but i dnt hv much funds for the rest of my fees and accommodation when u get dia.
2.i am yet to get admission in germany.

A bird in hand is worth millions on d tree. How are u sure u will secure the German admission. Canada is d way to go my guy cus dia admission in d ist place no b beans and since u av it, y throw it away for something not certain.

Second is the fact that integration is faster in Canada Dan in Germany cus of the language issue and also d fact that u won't need to learn any language before u can get or hold down a job unlike in Germany.

My guy use d money with u and ppay ur Canada tuition, wen u get dia, u will survive cus many Nigerians dia too survive. Even many of us in Germany already dey eye how to enter Canada .

My guy stop behaving like someone wey no go school, how do u intend to do any international exam without an international passport. So how do u want dem to identify ur identity, via ur inec PVC or bank ATM card? Name d exam from GRE to TOEFL to ielts to GMAT, no passport, no exam its as simple as ABC.

I don't work with immigration so I don't know price of passport anywhere. Plz don't ask this question again, its frustrating as a graduate

My sis, I will truthfully advice u not to bring one kid not to talk of two kids for an MSc program in Germany on a sponsorship letter biko. Even if u use a block act, d 8040 will not b enuf for u and one kid not to talk of two and since u are using a sponsor, do u think ur broda will b sending u money monthly for upkeep? My knowledge of German sponsors who give letter is dat wen u land, dey simply forget abt u saying dey av done dia part to get u here. Do u think u can school work and takia of two kids as a student in Germany? My honest answer is a capital noooo. Mind u, no one will babysit for u in Germany oo, u might not even see ur next door Nebor for weeks.

I will strongly advice u to drop ur kids with ur mum as I even doubt if d embassy will give d 3 of u visa on a student sponsorship letter once dey see d income and responsibilities of ur sponsor and even if dey reluctantly do, my sis it is a risk not worth taking.

Without an international passport, it is simple 100% impossible for u to write ielts as ur passport no will be ur exam and I.d no. Ielts is around 38k for now but without a passport, u can't even register online, so go and get ur passport ist of all as that is d ist step in travelling out. Even some school u apply to will ask for ur passport no and I.d page

I actually checked the school site out of curiosity and they really av d prog this guy was admitted for and they also offer the scholarship he got. But the site was silent abt paying a reg fee ist before u can claim d scholarship. They only stated that the scholarship will be given to any foreign applicant who qualifies.

It has two versions and as a student who intend to go for an academic pursuit u should apply for the academic version, that's just common sense. No offence intended!!

My guy, I really appreciate ur courage but wat is it is wat it is, a scholarship is not suppose to give u stress cus once its a scholarship it simply means all expenses paid. There are even some that will pay ur flight ticket to and fro so this one to me is still a scam.

Abeg bone am and apply to other places, with ur grade u will get one dat won't give u this mental stress. There us this rule I have heard and used many times for scholarships ; once u are asked to pay to get it, then its not a scholarship, its a scam. I av fell for one before even though na 10k I pay. I am presently in Germany so I know wat I'm saying. A scholarship should and I insist should not even ask for a reg fee. Reason it, y will a SCH giving sch giving u free tuition still ask u to pay a reg fee. Which one many pass BTW tuition and reg fee.

Soory to say but the school or someone is trying to scam you here. I have never heard about a scholarship where u av to pay ist before they refund money to you in my adult life.

Mind you I'm also a masters student studying presently in Germany so I know what I'm saying. And i have applied for several scholarship before and even still have links to scholarship site sent to my email everyday and no where av I seen where u will be asked to pay close to a million naira dat will then b refunded later.

Don't let ur desperation to travel out of Nigeria make u make decisions u will regret later plz. Find out very well abt this cus it smells scammy to me. U can contact the embassy here in Nigeria or the school directly.

U are a learner, did he say it's permitted before. Its obvious u av not served cus if u av u will know all he mentioned and more happens in camp just for sex. Many were caught during my time in umudi camp IMO state

Hi Nairalanders, I intend to travel for vacation in the summer and I have 3 destinations in my mind. In all my previous travels (business or pleasure) I purchase my tickets from the airlines directly and also make direct arrangement with the hotels (I just don't believe in online payment). This time around however, while trying to beat the summer rush and hike in fares associated with the season, I did my window shopping online, booked the airline with the best fares, rushed to bank, withdrew money and quickly dashed to their office to make payment. I was however disappointed when they told me at the counter that the actual fare is far higher than what's on their website. the difference was quite significant that I aborted my plans.

On my way back, as I was thinking, I remembered the several advertisement I had seen in the national dailies about wakanow.com and on getting back to the office, I visited their website and confirmed that their fares are quite cheap including the hotels, airport pick-ups etc. I however don't have any information about them. I'm therefore calling out on Nairalanders who have had any sort of experience with them to help out cause the money involved here is huge and is not something I'll want to gamble with.

They are legit. I booked Turkish airlines flight to Frankfurt dia last Oct wwn d price on Turkish airlines site was higher by 5k and I still travelled. I don't know how dey manage d low price but dey are very legit. I even booked hotel in Frankfurt from dia before I left and I never had any issue watsoeva
