I am currently faced with a similar challenge. I recently got a job and my monthly salary is roughly 90k, I also have a commercial bus 'danfo' in Nigerian local parlance, which also is another source of income for me. I got admitted for a Master program in Germany and I am considering resigning my job, using all my savings, getting small loan(500k) and selling the bus to make up funds for the blocked account. I just hope and pray it would be a wise decision on the long run. Things are not easy here in Nigeria, but somehow, guys still dey rough am. Make our case no go be from frying pan to fire o...veterans in the house, na God I take beg una, kindly help throw more light on this matter...vielen dank!

If u want my honest advice, I will say this is a very wrong move. You want to leave certainty for uncertainty. Do u think you will be able to save 90k monthly if u get here as a student? What 90k will do for u in Nigeria, d euro equivalent will not do it. Plus u still av a danfo giving u upkeep money and u want to throw it all away cus u think Germany is paradise Wia money is easy and job is yanfuyanfu. My guy don't follow that path of leaving ur 90k job selling ur other source of income and still going into debts to come to Germany biko. I don't think its worth it

Person wey get house wan sell house to come this germo Wia we dey so? Chai, if I av a house in Nigeria , I won't think of coming to Germany in d ist place. For u now thinking of selling it to come Germany is the most ridiculous desperate measure I av heard in a long time.

People in Nigeria have different perspective of wat really happens in Europe thinking life is all rosy and juicy. Even taking the risk to pass thru Libya. Na until dem reach here them dey know what's up.

Bros landlord, I use everything dear to u to beg u biko no even think of using d house as collateral not to talk of selling it to come to Germany as a student OK biko. We no wan read news say one Nigerian student jump in front of moving ice train ooo. If u av done sumtin that built u a house in Nigeria, walahi u do not need to travel out to anywhere again. What u need right now is sustanance and contentment. My 50 kobo advice

The prayer went thus: “We call on Michael the arch angel, Uriel the archangel, Gabriel the archangel to carry you in their wings back to life. They angels are bringing you back in their wings."

The prayer this man called mbaka just prayed above have made me cement my conclusion that this man is just a noise maker and diabolic who does not even know the bible he is preaching from. In the whole bible , only two angels were named: Michael and Gabriel and only one out of them which is Michael was described as an archangel which means leader of all the angels. How will angels have two leaders? Is it pdp chairmanship?

No where in the bible and I repeat no where in the bible was Uriel named as an angel not to talk of being an archangel. The name Uriel only appears 4 times in d whole bible in 1 chronicles 6:24 , 15 vs 5, 15 vs 11 and 2 chronicles 13 vs 2 and in all these cases they were name of peoples not angels.

I just pity the congregation he is deceiving with God's name for political gains

Which 90s car plz. Is it Peugeot or Benz that are even wider than present day cars that are designed for 2? Maybe u need to go check those 90s cars again. U will be in for a pleasant surprise. The only car that was designed for 2 at d back in d 90s was the Volkswagen beetle. All others are designed for 3 except the wagons Wia d middle seat is for 2

no idea!! right from when I was a kid...u rarely c those at d back seat using seat belt...seems more like a natural occurrence.

Abnormal things usually look natural in Nigeria. How many naija drivers even know traffic rules. In a country Wia u can get a drivers license even before u can differentiate BTW a hand break and a gear.

Only two 2 people are allowed to sit at the back ..
At least that's how most cars are built
But in Nigeria, especially Nigerian taxis 5 people sits at the back, some go even lap themselves... How do you expect them to use sit belt?

Not 2, its 3. If u look at the back seats very well dia are seat belts for 3 occupants . the one in d middle is designed like a plane seat belt that crosses the waist and not the chest like the others. Every car has it. Most in Nigeria av bin removed and used as towing rope

I guess its because the front passenger or driver is more at risk of death or severe injury in the case of an accident. If you're at the back you've got the seats in front of you (which are usually cushioned) to stop you from serious harm, but the front occupants can end up flying out of the vehicle if seat belts are not worn.
Its the same reason many cars have only front airbags.

I beg to disagree with you as in totally. Last year December, an African football player in Germany was flung out of the back seat of a car during a collision and he died instantly cus he was not using his belt while his two friends in d front survived. Was the seats not dia to stop him if your theory is right?

In advanced countries, all occupants either u sit in front or back must use dia seat beats. Even the cars will continue to peep in a very annoying way if those at the back refuse to comply. And ur license can be revoked as a driver if a back seater in your car is caught beltless after u are fined like 100€. Even kids below 10 av a special seat u buy separately that u put on d seat in the back. Dey seat on this and not on d car seat directly before u belt them in.

Just that in Nigeria, our law enforcers do not even know the right thing not to talk of enforcing it. Nigeria is just so messed up

Oga, Konji don destroy your brain for that side.
You no see me mention MIT? I used an example he can relate with. Universities of Technologies and TUs here based on names are EQUIVALENT in terms of purpose, whether California Institute of Technology (CALTECH) or FUTMINNA, I didn't say one was better than the other or up to the quality of the other.
It's an insult to say universities and TUs are 'allowed' to do PhD, Bros, that's one of their main purpose

Who told you TUs here don't also create irrelevant courses?
Even in TUM, not all courses you see are relevant, some courses were shut down after running for 5 years! I know of a department in my campus that lost 20 students (mostly Europeans) after a semester because they all thought the course was 'purposeless'.
I know its tough, your akamu have turned iced frogs, but calm down, read and deduce well because reaching conclusions.

E be like say bomb dey ur head. Who says I no see MIT dia. But y put tech unis from Nigeria in the same sentence with MIT and tum. That is an insultive insult to the education system in Germany and USA. And I used the word allowed because its back by written law in a constitution sumwia. Many German uni of applied sciences too would love to do PhD if the law allows them. Like the one in Bonn even have a PhD partnership program with another uni despite the restriction.

As for my akamu freezing, u av not heard the last of it. Just wait till I come Munich for august come break ur head

Your technical uni is just like the MITs or in the context of Nigeria Federal or State University of Technologies like FUTO and FUTA.

If I talk now, u go dey claim prophet. If not that u are drunk on pxxxni juice, how will u be comparing technical universities in Germany to uni of technologies in Nigeria. Do the ones in naija even av clear cut purpose or objectives apart from admitting students in large no and making money, creating irrelevant courses and teaching theories with lil practicals.

Well based on my research, universities and technical unis in Germany av similar research oriented goals and Dats y dey are d only one allowed by law to offer PhD. Uni of applied sciences do not offer PhD courses cus dia motive is to train practically in an industry related format.

Why nt complete the masters and then switch..or take out one semester for internship in a coy...or do your master thesis in a research institute or a coy...

You re right the universities in Germany re research oriented.....because BMBF and most research fundin organisations will only fund groups researchin on projected problems (problems that will occur 20yrs from now) which is logical as it makes no sense to repeat a research if I understand correctly and also as a science student u did prolly stop at phd level (ca.80% of german chemists ve phd) and then if u wanna go to the industry u can switch...even in the industry u become a research scientist optimising exisiting processes while they employ technicians to run the plants..

Research institutes and coys re usually more of applied stuff( findin solns to localized problems) .....you can check fraunhofer..max plank and helmholtz..

And like most countries the research done in Germany is to address the societal needs...take for example..research groups workin on renewable energies re well funded as Germany is tryin to move towards renewables and become self reliant ...such groups re nt well funded in countries like canada cos canada has oil..

All d best man.

You deduce I won't finish this one ist or you assumed? Anyways I'm finishing it ist .I only used the word switched cus I'm changing from neuroscience to biomedical sciences. Not that I'm abandoning one for another. Thanks though

...and you are obviously not aware of the fact that the project was handed over to UMY/GEJ by OBJ?

Wake up from your slumber bro and quit these childish "it is GEJ's idea" rants; GEJ is long gone and is no longer the president. What matters is not who 'thinks' about a project, it is he who executes it that matters. By the way, Abacha thought about introducing GSM technology to Nigeria and even made moves in that regard. But do you think it would be sensible to claim that GSM was introduced into Nigeria by Abacha?

Just for your info, the Nigerian rail modernisation masterplan has been in existence even before GEJ ever thought of joining PDP. The masterplan was eventually agreed and drawn under OBJ and Julius Berger was awarded a contract in OBJs first tenure to build the first Nigerian standard gauge rail (Warri to Ajaokuta), a project which was completed to 99% before OBJ left office. Furthermore, contracts were also signed by OBJ with the Chinese (CCECC) for the building of the Kaduna to Abuja and Lagos to Kano standard gauge rail lines just before OBJ handed over to UMY; these contracts were cancelled by UMY due to irregularities but GEJ came in and re-awarded the Abuja to Kaduna line which was built to 99% completion before he handed over to PMB.

I wonder where you got your own "it is GEJ's idea from," just like most other achievements by GEJ which were purely completion of projects initiatives by his predecessor, governance is all about continuity and what matters most is who executes and not who 'thinks' about an idea. Next time you should do well to do your homework before going public.

Oga nevilbot wassup any special reason for going for second MSC after ur neuroscience one? So that we sef fit learn ni oh

MSC neuroscience is a research based masters with no link to clinical work experience like I tot before coming. All they train u for is lab research both useful and useless ones and upon graduation, dey expect u to toe the PhD, post doc line and become a prof jumping from one research to another and writing/publishing papers. Most of the research I must also say av no link to a developing country like Nigeria. The results won't be of benefit to me or my country for now. This is not a carrier path I envisage for myself. I don't want to end up as a lab rat white haired prof in one German institute.

Basically universities in Germany are research oriented especially in d medical sciences while uni of applied sciences are d one structured to prepare u for d work environment but many of us do not know that before coming over. So since I want a carrier outside academia for myself, I'm switching to a uni of applied sciences to get the needed training for clinical practice.

Wait o, LAGOS to IBADAN as how. Are they planning to Renovate the existing track or construct another one? Cos i travel by train a lot and the line is from KANO to IBADAN, the same line goes from IBADAN to ABEOKUTA to LAGOS.

Probably that would be for UP TRAIN , LAGOS - IBADAN - KANO. But serious it won't make any difference, train time would still remain.

What Lagos to kano or other rail tracks in nigeria have is single gauge meaning its a single track and trains can't travel in both directions simultaneously. The train from Lagos will need to ist get to kano before anoda train can come from kano to Lagos else dey collide halfway.

Wat dey are going to build now is d double standard gauge that allows train travel in both directions at the same time like u av in advanced countries. Like this

Agriculture / Institute Develops ‘tomato Ebola’ Vaccine by nevilbot: 5:16pm On Jun 02, 2016
The National Research Institute for Chemical Technology, Zaria, today said it had developed a vaccine for Tuta Absoluta, popularly known as ‘tomato ebola’.

The Public Relations Officer of the institute, Alhaji Bala Aliyu, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Zaria, Kaduna State that an end had come to the disease, which had been ravaging tomato farms.

According to him, the Director-General of the institute, Prof. Idris Bugaje, has worked extensively to provide a solution to the menace destroying the tomato farm in the country.

“This vaccine has been found to be very effective after undergoing various scientific testing,’’ he said.

The public relations officer said NARICT was partnering with regulatory agencies to certify the vaccine for onward use by farmers in Nigeria and the world at large.

He said all things being equal the vaccine would be launched soon for the good of the nation.

Aliyu said it was the responsibility of the Federal Government to ensure that the vaccine reached the farmers.

He stressed that the agency had worked hard to find a solution to the dangerous disease.

“We will work with the state and federal government agencies to carry diffuse this important development to our teeming farmers in the country and beyond,’’ Aliyu added.

Tuta Absoluta is the disease responsible for the massive destruction of tomato in farmlands across the country, which has made the price of tomatoes sky-rocket in the past few weeks

The Federal Government had engaged experts to find solution to the spread of the pest.

When some few months back, an Igbo CEO of an helicopter company wrote about his experience on this same runway describing it as very bad and asking d fg to call the construction company and stealer oduah to acct for it, most easterners on that thread came for his jugular claiming he was a Yoruba man parading himself with an Igbo name and didn't mean them well. They abused the living daylight out of whoever said anything not in support of their international airport that day.

Now we have seen pictorial proofs that the man was actually right. I sincerely don't get d mindset of these my Igbo brothers in seeing anyone telling them d truth as dia enemy. If the fg prosecute oduah and the construction company and makes dem cough out stolen money to repair the runway to standard level, is it not for the betterment of dia region abi is it d yorubas or Hausa's that will benefit from a standard Enugu airport?

Sincerely we are our own enemies in nigeria. Polithiefcians are only banking on this hate mentality to steal us mad. Until we can unite irrespective of tribe and call a thief a thief, Nigeria is not going to develop one kobo.

Well, I can understand she is a child, and I can understand the level of hatred coming from her own people, but still I do not think that she should be in love with her molester.

That is what is called Stockholm syndrome. The problem this now presents is that bcus of the illiteracy and stigma from neighbours and Nigerians at large, we might be creating more dangerous problems than boko haram in the future wen these gals feel totally rejected and strike back at society for rejecting them.
