Christianity EtcDid Jesus Lie Here? by newmi(op): 12:49pm On Dec 24, 2010
John 7:8-10
"Go ye up unto this feast: I GO NOT up yet unto this feast; for my time is not full come. When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. But when his brethren were gone up, then WENT he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret."

Did Jesus lie?
Christianity EtcQuestion & Answer With Pastor Chris Oyakhilome by newmi(op): 12:24pm On Dec 24, 2010
I begin today what would prove to be an interesting series of question and answer sessions with the man of God- Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and hope that many like me will learn from them. Thank you

Question 1 – Kingsley (The Netherlands): Is the devil able to read the human mind? Why couldn’t the devil read the mind of Jesus Christ to know that killing Him was to save us from our sins and that this was for the good of the Christian?

[b]Answer 1: He says, “Is the devil able to read the human mind?” The answer is no; he cannot read the human mind anymore than any intelligent person can guess what’s in your mind by reading [or trying to understand] your mannerisms and your body movements and so on…body language. So, that’s the way the devil also reads you, because he’s been in this world for many years and he can understand human beings by observing them. That’s how far because Satan, remember, is a created being and because he is a created being, he doesn’t have the power. He’s not omniscient. Only God is omniscient; Satan is not. So, Satan doesn’t know everything, and Satan doesn’t know what’s in your mind. And, you know that Satan doesn’t know everything because of a lot of things that happened in the Bible that he didn’t know and have the sense enough to tell. For example, how come Satan didn’t know that Jesus had been taken to Egypt when He was a baby? [Matthew 2:13-18] God asked the parents, that’s Mary - the mother of Jesus - and Joseph, the supposed father, to take the little child to Egypt and Satan didn’t know they had gone to Egypt and went ahead and moved the king to kill all the children from 2 years and down; he didn’t know. There are lots of things that Satan doesn’t know. He didn’t know much in the bible days and still doesn’t know today, because he is not omniscient.

Please with all due respect and considerations l wish to ask the moderator what has become of our illustrous and prestigeous Nairaland Poster of the year 2010 award. With approximately 7days to which this year still hans on to, l believe this request comes as an echo of the collective aspiration and inquisition of the vast majority of nairalanders nairalanders who share same concern. Finally, it is completely out of place not to have such recognition this year with several interesting high points, it does't speak well for all the efforts and commitments and on a more personal note, why did we nominate in the first place, if there's a delay in announcing the winner then lets us know and expect a scheduled date, but to just keep us blank like that is rendering our time spent in responding to that nomination request as wasted. Thank you

Christianity EtcRe: Pastor Chris Oyakhilome: Don’t Faint In The Day Of Adversity! by newmi(m): 7:54am On Dec 24, 2010
Joagbaje:
Proverbs 24:10
If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small

Christianity is a bed of roses, with tests, trials and challenging times in our journey of faith. Such challenging times are what the Bible refers to as “the evil day” (Ephesians 6:13), or “the day of adversity” as read in our opening verse. Some believers dread such periods and specifically pray to God never to allow them go through trials and challenges. To avoid situations that challenge your faith is to checkmate your chances of promotion.

James 1:2
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations.”

Why would God admonish you to rejoice when tests and challenges come at you on all sides? It’s because He knows that victory is in your spirit. Having been born again, you’ve become an overcomer and more than a conqueror. Consequently, no situation that you face should overwhelm you.

God knows what stuff your made of, that’s why He said:

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

You have what it takes to overcome any trial, temptation or adversity. So you must not cower, give in or faint under any pressure whatsoever. Be tough. Jesus was tough. He withstood and triumphed over all the contrary winds that came His way (Hebrews 12:2).

There’re things that make you tough as a Christian, and if you don’t welcome them, you’d remain at the same level of faith and maturity. Therefore, your adversaries are important in the toughening process, so never pray against them, no matter what troubles, problems and difficulties they bring your way. Welcome the as necessary challenges to strengthen your faith-muscles and you’ll discover they’re the agents for your promotion.

Do you remember Joseph, and how he managed the adversities that came his way? He overcame all the troubles he faced after his brothers sold him into slavery, and rose to become the Prime minister of Egypt. He would later tell his brothers in Genesis 45:5:
“…be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.”

I have known only one journey in life: upward and forward. I don’t have ups and downs. That doesn’t mean challenges don’t come, but I always win. So welcome challenges; welcome troubles, because they’re the contrary winds that help to drive your roots deeper. And the more the wind blows against you the higher you’ll fly. Hallelujah!

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Ephesians 6:10-13
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Your openning scripture begins by say "if you, " That means should you fall in the day of adversity the good part is that is simply just revealed that your strength was little more or less like looking at the positive because the bible says that all things work together for good to them that love God and to then that are called according to His purpose so what do you do, simply go and invest in getting more strength.

KunleOshob:

The above was posted on the facebook page of a friend who is a genuine man of God striving to serve God selflessly and do his will. The funny thing is that he is a Nigerian based in the U.S yet he left the comfort of the U.S and his family to God and serve God in this area area without any motive of material benefits. I just felt i should share this with us here and contrast it to our so called men of God wo have turned their churches into business concerns and are more interested in the own comfort/luxury than the true work of God which should be selfless.
Thank God for men like this In your story above, l am particularly inspired. But most of the men of God you have critized on nairaland have not done any different and paraventure may have done even more in terms of sacrifies, THE FACT THAT YOU DON'T KNOW THEIR STORY DOES'T IN ANYWAY DISCREDIT THE AUTHENTICITY OF THEIR CALL.

@Olaadegbu
", untill we confess and forsake our sins we cannot be made alive in Christ, " Well said, but please could you kindly give your candid opinion as regards a sinner who pehaps has spent over 35years doing wrongs and trespassing all moral and spiritual laws that God has set in place, now such a man you say he should confess all his sins; ok, what happens to the ones he cannot remember, will God count it against him or He would grant him salvation notwitstanding, ok what measure salvation will he receive because though he has confessed there remaineth still more though also he cannot remember and mind you the fact that he cannot remember does not obliterate the reality that he committed them. Please kindly post a response, except you are insinuating that it does matter. Thank you
