A friend of mine, who was a Nairalander got involved in a car crash earlier in the year, I went to see him in LASUTH, and cried a lot during that period because of the state of that hospital. People were coming in and they were just being left at the reception to die.

Well, eventually, @BibiKing1 as he was known on Nairaland, passed away as bold, and full of smiles as he's always been, cracking jokes, and giving out orders like a Mafia boss. Yeah, I cried from February till April, but I'm doing okay now.

He's one of the best human beings I ever met. He meant this country well, but I guess feelings are not usually mutual. He regularly wrote of how bad the roads were, and was eventually maimed by them.

Education › Re: The Origin Of The Word Oyibo by nex(m): 12:43am On Aug 11, 2014
Oyibo is an Edo word.

The first set of Caucasians to meet the Binis were the Portuguese, and were called "Potoki", however, when other Caucasians started making contact with the Binis, and they certainly were neither Africans, nor Portuguese, they were seen as "Other People" by the locals. Though some of the continued to refer to the British and French as Potoki, but people around the Auchi area called them "Oya Ibo" (Oy'Ibo) which means " Person From Another Place".

Entertainment › WATCH: Newest Chocolate City Artist, Dice Ailes Releases "Fantasy" VIDEO by nex(mod): 4:57pm On Jul 02, 2014
Dice Ailes (pronounced Ales) of Nigerian/Ghanaian decent is a versatile Artist with a Rap/Afro Pop sound. Born and bred in Victoria Island, Lagos
as Shasha Damilola Alesh, his first experience with music was at the church choir where he beat-boxed to music composed and rehearsed for
church services by his Uncles.

Dice always confessed his love for music to his mother who was never convinced because he couldn’t sum up the courage to perform in front of her, but this changed when at 15, he saved up to pay for what will ultimately become his first single I CANT WAIT ft RADO (his Uncle). Before the age of 16, Dice had aired his single on Rhythm 93.7, which earned him an appearance on DJ Jimmy Jatt’s “Jimmy’s Jump Off”.

Dice migrated to Canada with his family and continued to further his education. Here he met Stephen Oruwari (alias Tee Tash) a young entrepreneur who had a keen interest in Dice Ailes’ talent. Tee Tash signed him to a Recording/Production Agreement and they began making good music. In 2013, Dice and Tash made a trip to Nigeria to promote Dice Ailes’ music and a turn of events led them to M.I Abaga. After listening to a few songs by Dice, M.I was instantly impressed and called a meeting with Chocolate City’s Top Management. After several months of negotiations, Dice signed on as the newest member of Chocolate City in 2014. Today, he released a new video for his single "Fantasy"

Entertainment › Re: What Was P-square Singing In CAF Award by nex(mod): 11:56am On Jan 10, 2014
Lies have taken over the fibre of Nigeria sha! Some people are defending P Square, meanwhile, even they have confessed that their performance was very poor. Most Nigerians CANNOT sing their own song without vocal computer enhancements. When you book most Nigerian musicians, they will be calling N1 million, and N2 million, but just mention LIVE BAND, and they will tell you their mother died, or that their house caught fire, so they can't make it.

People are giving excuses that the microphone was bad, but did Lagbaja and Flavour bring their own microphones from their houses? The boys simply cannot sing, and neither can 99% of Nigerian musicians.
Entertainment › Re: Rate The Performance Of The Artist That Performed At 2013 GLO CAF AWARD by nex(mod): 11:48am On Jan 10, 2014
Lagbaja's performance was out of the ordinary. It was pure stage craft. Flavour tried the best he could. I didn't see some others, but the worst I watched was P Square. It was beyond horrible when they performed "Personally". It was shocking! To say I'm disappointed in them could mislead the general public into thinking I ever expected much from them, what they did yesterday though, was absolutely abysmal.

I remember when Facebook got serious about emailing, and I remember how that went. Twitter should focus on ADVERTISING on its own platform. The charges are too expensive, their ADs interface is too confusing, erratic, and it covers very few countries.

Celebrities › Re: Basketmouth Under Fire For Molest Joke On Twitter by nex(m): 10:07pm On Jan 05, 2014
Basket Mouth is a very funny comedian, and one of his funniest features is the ability to make fun of what most comedians don't. I was in UNIBEN when he started, and I nearly laughed my head off during promotions for his first major event in Lagos with Ali Baba. As Teju Babyface mentioned the N1,000 gate fee, Basket Mouth looked so alarmed, he said even he wouldn't part with N1,000 to watch himself. I bet that must have cost them a few tickets, but it honestly was spontaneous, very funny, and indeed very fresh. Though possibly counter-productive.

I've heard jokes from various Nigerian comedians, which to a large extent are very disgusting to me. The ones which border around ethnicism, and tribalism mostly. It was quite an overwhelming outrage which followed Basket Mouth's joke about dating a Caucasian girl VS dating an African girl, particularly as it ended in "RAP-E!!!".

The thing these days, is that there're these people who are hyper-active on Twitter, and every once in a while, they like to test their might, and also the loyalty of their minions. One of them got a hold of a Zimbabwean's rant, and blew it up to what it became this morning. Some of those among the sets of mindless drones that initially liked that comment, were later seen on Twitter castigating same Basket Mouth.

The originator of this beef on Twitter, whom I refuse to glorify with a mention, has finally retweeted Basket Mouth's apology as a trophy to himself. But then, suddenly, this same man has decided to push his luck a bit harder: prevailing on Globacom and GTBank to terminate any endorsement deals they have with the comedian. As much as I'd be pleased to see this outcry sanitize Nigerian comedy, I'd be absolutely irate to see people making this matter into what it isn't.

Rap-e is a very serious crime, yet oddly enough, this joke has been told by other comedians in other arena, and also previously by this particular Basket Mouth, whose moniker by itself conveys his tendency to unguarded speech. The question which critics and anti-rape activists are not asking themselves however is "DID THE COMEDIAN BASKET MOUTH GLORIFY RAP-E?". Although he's tendered an apology, but it's not hard to tell from the tone, that is wasn't in any way heartfelt.

On my part, I'd say Basket Mouth depicted what happens a lot in our society. He didn't say go out and do it. He said this is what happens. What are comedians meant to do? Comedians joke about death, about poverty, disability, tribe, race, hunger, drug abuse, robbery, they even joke about the Devil and Almighty God Himself. Filmmakers do the same, yet, I've not seen such mobilization against a movie that depicts rap-e, or any of the other ills of life. In fact, Martin Scorsese wins an Oscar award for such.

Celebrities › Re: Basketmouth Under Fire For Molest Joke On Twitter by nex(m): 9:58pm On Jan 05, 2014
MsSantaClaus: Glo needs to terminate his contract, because like Justine Sacco , who represented IAC and made a tasteless joke about going to South Africa and contacting AID's, he is an ambassador for a brand and since he does not take his role as an ambassador seriously , glo needs to dissacociate themselves from his small minded distasteful jokes as soon as possible! If you don't know who Justine Sacco is , please ask Google!
I'm sure you don't understand that Basket Mouth is the one endorsing Globacom. It's not the other way round. They are paying him a bulk of money for him to associate himself with their brand. They can't exactly sack him, and if they do decide they do not want his endorsement anymore, they'll need to pay out the rest of his term.

This has nothing to do with tribe, or any other sentimental arguments some of you are putting up. Aig Aig-Umokuhede of Access Bank retired recently in preparation for that position which he'll take up next year.

The man has been loyal to GEJ, and he's helped a lot of PDP members to "manage" their financial portfolio.

This was meant to be some kinda of joke...at least so I thought, till I confirmed from Chocolate City Music directly, and they confirmed this News. Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, the lingual gymnast has offered his services to the effort by one of Nigeria's top record labels to launch the second album from their one of their best acts, who is also among the top ranked musicians in Nigeria.

Ice Prince himself had earlier this month, made public that USA based rap star of Rick Ross's MAYBACH MUSIC GROUP, Olubowale Folarin, popularly known as WALE will be performing at the Fire Of Zamani Album Launch concert scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island,Lagos.
