Almunjid: The number of legitimate children are declining and children born out of wedlock are on the rise. In few years to come, illegitimate children will be considered as legitimate. The phrase "illegitimate child" is gradually fading away. Every thing is turning upside down in this generation. Today's youths are more interested in Sex than marriage and child upbringing. But, I'm sure that no matter how the world changed, it will never run out of good, committed and responsible husbands/wives who still believe in marriage and giving birth to legitimate children.

Almunjid: U don't know what I'm driving at. So, u mean if he had only one wife and a baby mama, this wouldn't have happened? Lol ...well my argument is based on the tradition of my people.. In igbo land our tradition doesn't recognize baby mama's.. A man's properties are 100% inherited by his lawfully married wives and children .butt the little time I have spent with yorubas I learnt that baby mama's are part n parrcels of a man's family is infact an average yoruba women cannot get married to one man alone |

Almunjid: How many baby mamas do u have now? It's not about monogamy, it's about the number of women that gave birth to ur children. The world is gradually leaning towards polyandry as a result of the youth's waywardness. ..stop being ridiculous.. If mko didn't marry two wives this one won't arrest n harass his sons over missing property I wish mko is alive to see the problem he brought upon himself |

AmazonTopaz: Nothing will happen.I don't need you to take me serious because married or not my father has given me a share and I can build on itm My aunty did it and did not die. And I take her serious. A father's ancestral land belongs to the Nigerian government and under Nigerian law women have a right to own lands and properties. Just because a woman has not challenged it in your village or that it is not common to you does not mean that it has not happened or that it is impossible ..in igbo land the only way u can inherit ur father's ancestral lands is if u are the only child of ur parents and u didn't marry.. There is no two ways about it..note:if u are the only child and u got married ur father's ancestral land and all those things he inherited from his father will be passed over to ur uncles or any child u born out of wedlock...ur father's ancestral land belongs to any male child that bears ur father's name.. |

I don't care about any culture the only culture I see and respect is my own. Also the only law I respect is the Nigerian law. Every other customary law is subject to Nigerian law.
There are no consequences those consequencies are only scare tactics that exist in your imaginary head. Go and use those consequences on the supreme court to change it's stance on the issue ..get married then go to ur village and take over ur fathers ancestral lands only then will we take u serious |

LegendHero: Ogbeni stop saying nonsense.
Alaafin Orompoto is a woman and we have several countless Adele (women) who serves as king in Yorubaland.
Stop looking for who to drag along with your archaic barbaric culture of women not being able to inherit properties.
The whole world is moving towards civilization while you guys are still stuck in the past.
Thanks the Supreme Court for granting your women this win over the archaic discriminatory culture. ..are u telling us that u once had a female as the alafin of oyo and also a woman as the ooni of ife? According to ur statement this happened a long time ago so tell us why other first female offspring of the alafin never ascend their father's throne or are u also telling us that since last decade no female have ever emerged the first child of the alafin? |

PearlStreet: This one is just an idiot. In Yoruba land, there are Regents who are female. You are a stark illiterate and a myopic fellow who is not exposed. ..there should be a law that states that if alafin of oyo's eldest offspring is a female she should inherit her father's throne cos she is the eldest likewise the emir of sokoto.. I am disappointed in the kind of legal system we run in this country why not chanell same energy towards amending our constitution and reducing the outrageous salary and bonuses being carted away by our senators, governors, house of representatives etc... the issue of gender equality should apply in all aspects of our lives just like the british ..there is this igbo adage that says 'when another person's corpse is being carried it looks like a log of firewood ' |
