Backfornow: Technically, its not derailing since anything US related is open for discussion. Wait for one of your fellow bros to show up. Although, it makes me think I should add a rule about how some topics should be discussed. ... Kindly take off the word derailer from the headline, let it be a thread borne out of genuine motives. roniex2: FrankNetter is not coming online anymore. He might be so busy with some other things. This thread will be dead soon if we ban other people from posting. My own idea is that America-based Nigerians should come online and tell us how they got there, show us pictures and gist us on their day to day activities. They shouldn't come here and argue about what we that are not there yet won't be able to put mouth. Trust me it's not so nice. Cc babyvet Nig4greatness .... Those with questions get answers.. |

fighal: You don't get it man .. This ain't the first time this thread is left unattended to, and each time he comes back to update this thread the followers cheers and gives him some accolades. Frank has other priorities, same as those following this thread. The fuss ain't about updating the thread or not, it's about FOCUS.. You don't discuss movies in an abandoned sports thread because you want to keep it alive.. Think about it.. You are making it seem like people's lives depends on the thread, NO. A lot of persons here has other things more important than the thread... THIS THREAD IS SEEN AS A MIRROR, WHICH WHEN VIEWED COULD SHOW YANKEE FROM THE PERSPECTIVES OF A COMMON NIGERIAN... Understand this.... . Take The Russia thread for example, how often those the OP post? but checkout the engagement when He does... . One or 2 questions are allowed, but hijacking the thread?? Thats a no.. .... Please come off this thing, there's nothing like a mirror or a village eyes here, The OP is an American who exist as an American and that's the perspective he's posting from. |

fighal: Alright, everybody calm down...... I understand that a lot of followers of this thread ain't really happy about how the thread is turning out and it is understandable. On my own I also thought that each follower has a voice and can speak out whenever they feel uncomfortable with what is happening here, which a lot has done. I guess the whole problem is down to the tune some of us used while complaining and also to the tune some of us used while replying complaints.
Frank hasn't been the only contributor to this thread, some naija based Americans has also contributed but the difference between theirs and these new guys is that they shared "EXPERIENCES" I feel is the focus of this thread. You guys were not sharing experiences, you were only arguing and we were lost in the process... NO PICTURES, NO PERSONAL STORY OF HOW YOU GOT THERE, NO DAY TO DAY UPDATE OF LIFE OVER THERE.... Make una try reason am na.... We no hate you guys or whatsoever, WE ARE ALL BROTHERS...
Oya no more fighting...... MAKE UNA SHOW US PICTURES... Oya Babyvet how did u enter America ?
To all those I av bad mouthed one way or the other, I'm sorry.... Let PEACE REIGN!!!!!!!! .... This seems more like it.kudos!!.. To other unrepentant crybabies, there's no point canvassing for what you want to see here because most of us don't know what you guys have in mind but if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask and let others do justice to them.is there anything from the many posts here from the beginning of this thread that particularly attends to your expectations other than many pictures posted ??. If its picture you want to see,am sure others can do that as well. Let's just attend to one another with dignity and utmost respect. |

fighal: Trying to do these things you mentioned is only helping the thread to lose FOCUS. This wasn't why we followed the thread in the first place. We knew that there are other informations we would need to have easy flow when we enter Yankee but we chose to learn from Frank's experience first, YOU GUYS SHOULD RESPECT OUR DECISIONS PLEASE..
If you really want to help you should create your own thread and people that need the info at that time would definitely follow your thread.. Creating of thread is FREE OF CHARGE OO ... This is an example of cultural problem we have in our country, the only way things are acceptable to us is when done our way. Hey guys. Following our successful visa interview, I want to inform the nairaland family that I and my siblings have finally touched down in chicago. We would be calling this place home for now.
Im so happy to have fled nigeria grin grin
Tips on how to survive the cold? Where to shop? etc would be welcome... the boded above is the introduction line from the op when he opened the thread,he has talked about things like... ...his personal and that of his family life. ...His many admirers he left behind back home. ...the erratic behaviors of his co workers. ...his work experiences/relationships with his clients. ...many highways and traffic rules. ...how many girls he's involved with. ...his present job versus his future job(s). ...his educational goals and career choice. ...vehicles and cost of maintenance. ...His choice of foods, hobbies and many more. Now,tell me how those things mentioned above related to you living in Nigeria?.what kind of important info that would affect your life do you expect to get from these stuffs?. I think you and your likes are the one derailing this thread with your selfish expectations and vetting all posts here is disrespectful to say the least because its obvious the thread was not created for you and your likes, you are just to observe and not to claim one stupid entitlement you don't merit. There are other threads that may appeal to your expectations especially the one below, you may follow the thread cos it seems the op was actually talking to folks like you in Nigeria. https://www.nairaland.com/4462513/life-abroad-worth-stress-hype |

princfred: Which latrine this typical Nigeria goat come out from to spew sh*t on nice thread like this. She just wrote "If you truly like it there, I respect you and support your ministry" but as a dafti, your flawed sentimental bias and comprehension- ineptitude takes precedence over the fact before you. You have no business using intelligence in a sentence as thats an insult to intelligient people. Ofcourse as a dullard, the truth the OP and others presents here convolates your sh*t filled brain.
If that cockroach IQ of yours is too low to appreciate her efforts at sheding light to matters then why not stoping fuxking and sh*ting around the thread. Or you think you have the monopoly of graphic words to oppress a lady?
I'm starting to think there's a different Nigeria for NLers on this thread. When you see stories on IG, Twitter, Facebook and compare to the testimonies of some people on here, it's like night and day.
See, if you're coming here to proclaim Nigeria as the land of opportunities, with milk and honey while in your heart you can't wait to get the opportunity to flee, you're deceiving yourself, get out of your ignorance and run for the sake of your future kids. They don't have to suffer for your ignorance. .... Only God knows the hole the dumb ass crawled out from using his filthy fingers to type gibberish here.the fact you didn't see anything wrong with the bolded statements above clearly shows how dumb you are at comprehending words and how poorly trained your lazy mind is. You turned an asslicker and a defense attorney because of little crumb to someone who left the country for many years now, renounced her citizenship and still has the gut to be insulting the sensibility of other well meaning Nigerians is all but a shame to you together with your co travelers.if all your efforts and cheap tactics at getting her attention is yet to yield any results clearly shows how a bitter loser you are. You may curse your ancestors and your creator for making you a Nigerian and such land can never yield its increase to a traitor like you. only a mad dog who has lost his bearing in life will see nothing good in his country but busying encouraging and cheering on one inconsequential outcast who came into a Nigerian forum with the intention of shaming the country with baseless comparisons and stupid narrations. Its not your fault really,i blame the government for allowing a hungry nuisance like you to roam about their cyberspace, engaging in fraudulent activities while looking for some prey to devour instead of taking hold of his life that is fast laying in tatters. Mumu like you,you keep having an orgasm and spending your energy defending someone that doesn't give a hoot about you instead of expending it on some productive stuffs that may give your life a meaning. Dremca: Why do Nigerians hate information so much. Knowledge can be gotten through argument or what ever means. What matters is that you learn something from it. Argument is not meant to show who is more correct or smarter but rather to get informed. Nigerians has the mentality that owns you know something and express it, you're being tagged, "ITK (I too know). No wonder the popular saying, "If you want to hide something from a Nigerian, put it in a book." How do you want to be successful without getting informed. No wonder the so called Nigerian millionaires and billionaires who crookedly got their wealth have no inspiring story to tell the younger generation of how they got their wealth. What a country!! .... Constructive argument is good and healthy for the mind but it becomes poison when it turns into personal attacks. at times am guilty of it myself but I don't just bite unless am stepped on. |

Dremca: Aside the Nigerian born, Chinedu Echeruo who sold his software hopstop to apple for $1B dollars, I have never heard of any Nigerian pushing boundaries in IT startup in US. What I see everyday are stories of Nigerians who broke record bagging multiple degrees with disctinctions not Nigerians solving real life problem. I am not saying bagging multiple degrees at once is not a good milestone but knowledge without applying it to solve problem is not really cool. I can say Nigerians abroad are intelligent but not smart (this is just my opinion) whereas the smart ones are doing cyber fraud in Nigeria. I have a dream and plan of being a tech startup founder in silicon valley someday. ..... The drill is simple...Nigerians are not productive people, our cultures thought us to be consumers reason one would wonder why the country is where it is despite the many human resources scatter all over the world.very disheartening.when I went into business,I nearly changed my mind with the way my former colleagues(Nigerians) were given me million stuffs I stand to lose, now I can not thank my God enough.I now know better. To be honest,we are lazy and always afraid of failure.we are contented with working as an employee instead of an employer.few that manage to own a business don't have plans for expansion, they are only concerned about today,so don't expect any venture capitalists or a good investor to invest in such business. |

Backfornow: Do you have a kindle or laptop? The reaspn why I ask is that magazines such as Inc, Entrepreneur s, Wall Street Journal have articles about start ups and raising capital all the time. There is a website or app called Zippio or Ziddio something like that will allow you to download magazines. I just started accessing these magazines from my library, a wealth of information. It might be a little harder for you to do in Nigeria but I dont think impossible. Tbh capital raising is extremely hard no matter the race but from what I have experienced, communities such as Indians and Chinese are extremely tight knit and resource from within their own communities. .... I can completely relate with this, You see opportunities abound in this country to those who knows what to do and where to find info and not some bunch claiming entitlement but looking for $20/hr a job all about. When you spend 18hrs daily doing that routine job of yours, you are probably going to be deaf or blind to other important info that could change your life for better.you learn to earn, majority of Nigerians fall into this category. Nigerians are intelligent but not smart and the smart ones rules the world. PS... I addition,I can bet you, those mags are so rich in info and you don't even need to download them.they are very easy and cheap to subscribe to.i get all business journals, wall str, automotive, travels, real Estate, money magazines and many others twice a month for just $20 quarterly. they are worth a million dollars in info. |

Backfornow: To be honest alot of us weren't even taught it. This is on both sides, black and white. So if alot of the country is financially illiterate to begin with (we can debate on why) but then add to it a materialistic give me now society, gives you your answer. Plus the economy survives strongly on consumer spending. I took an Econ class last year and it is surprising and concerning on how deep it is. ..... Exactly my thoughts, what's the essence of your financial literacy teachings if it doesn't reflects on your financial situations in the real world because it works at cross purpose with the established system. There are things that happen in one's life that defies logic or teachings. I never believed in the American financial system(though it works for some) but in my own opinion, the African culture of financial system best all others and it works for them far more than it does an average American. |
