While i would not agree nor disagree with the kind of figures some people throw around which some call unrealistic or unattainable here due to so many reasons but honestly in my own opinion and from personal experience, those figures are not too far fetched,it all comes down to who you are as a person, opening your mind and let ideas flow through it,set targets and design ways to achieving them.how soon you are going to achieve that still depends on various factors though but i strongly believe its achievable. One of my friends came to the US some time ago, spent some time with studies, after which he entered the job market and the first job he got was for $125k, i don't know his net worth for sure now but i know he's doing extremely well and better because he has since started his own consulting company right here in the US. The US especially is not called the land of opportunities for nothing, there are numerous things you can do successfully that will guarantee success in as much you do it the right way.

Day to day cooperate Americans sef including lots and lots of doctors no dey make $600,000 a year. ... Your credit score is not likely going to go up if there are no significant activities happening in your financial life that can provoke some changes to your credit reporting. Those that designed the system want you to be active in the financial markets(buy buy buy and continue to buy) which in other word means, get in more debts and start paying back. Its a good system to those that believe in it though and its been working out well for some people as against some as well.just be smart with it. @bolded, there are millions of Americans with $1M and above income brackets, they don't necessarily have to be a paid employees.incomes can come from other sources. |

See, if you're coming here to proclaim Nigeria as the land of opportunities, with milk and honey while in your heart you can't wait to get the opportunity to flee, you're deceiving yourself lol. If you truly like it there, I respect you and support your ministry. If not, get out of your ignorance and run for the sake of your future kids. They don't have to suffer for your ignorance.

No matter your hatred,Nigeria is moving on without you and there are some who would never follow your footsteps but choose to remain in the country cos that is where their own milk and honey are located.it's best when you respect whatever decisions individual make concerning their life as you already made yours. sevule: People like you are one of the reasons that Nigeria is the unwholesome mess that it currently is! How can Nigeria change if we keep insisting that Nigeria is heaven on earth?
With reference to the bolded part of your post, you are indeed hypocritical and entitled. You are screaming racial discrimination because a cop only asked you for your ID, then to make matters worse you gave him attitude. Why didn't you just give him the ID? Are you aware that cops also stop white people to ask for their IDs? Weren't you taught basic respect as a child? Or is it because you are in the States that you think you should not respect authority?
For heavens sake if you go to Nigeria and drive in Lagos you will be stopped by police at least once a week. Will you call that discrimination? Even worse when you are stopped by Nigerian police, they will demand for bribe. Has any American cop ever asked for a bribe when he stopped you?
Last time I was in Nigeria, Ojuelegba bus stop to be specific I was stopped by a cop because I was carrying my backpack!! He then demanded to see my phone and the contents of my laptop. I told him he had no right to search my laptop as he had no search warrant. Has any American cop EVER stopped you on the road and demanded to see your laptop??
My advice to you is to be thankful for where you are and stop this inane pissing contest about whether Nigeria is better than America. I love my country but the honest truth is Nigeria is a jungle where nothing works. My prayer is that this would change in our lifetime. However pretending that Nigeria is an awesome country is NOT the way to bring about the change that the country DESPERATELY needs! ..... Double tragedy!!!!.LMAO!!!...Nigeria loosing and one idiot calling me out for busting their bubble.wtf...like seriously....I think I may have to go personal on this one now. who is this hell of a guy trying to claim hero of Wakanda by calling me out with insult??.the load big pass you to carry. Am sure you lack ability to comprehend simple english and I CHALLENGE you to quote or point out where I compared or rated Nigeria better than that of America in all my posts here or is it because I called you and your likes out who live a miserable fake, debt ridden with govt support lifestyles and come here to compare America to heaven where there's no sickness or death?.mine is to balance and counter your exaggerations where possible.it's obvious you were drunk when written this rebuttal. So police stopping you abroad is "obeying constituted authority" but your likes call it a crime against humanity if same thing happens in nigeria.this is the height of hypocrisy. Moreso, kindly show me in the statutes book where police can pull you over in traffic even when no traffic violations were committed.or are you too busy with your low paying jobs that you hadly pay attentoon to series of racial profiling happening every day here?,then it shows how dumb and stupid you are. Yes,I am an African American for a reason, reason definitely different from yours and dont think all Nigerians are as poor as you and your likes who can't afford a dishwasher but instead slaving their destiny away abroad for. Don't know why people won't mind their own business and respect individual decisions based on their realities. |

Waoh...seeing people arguing back and forth from unnecessary comparison BTW countries and who made the best decision over the other.i ask if these people understand what it is to live and let live??.stay your lane and let me stay on mine,my success is not your success, everyone to his/her choice but don't rub yours on my face as being the better choice. Now,when someone talk about how some RNs make $80k and above, have enough savings, buy houses and how they make over $400 as a cab driver over the weekend and the "how many" theory;(how many can buy a car in Nigeria, yet they drive around on car notes, how many can buy a house in Nigeria yet they are on mortgages and how many can save N30m in Nigeria yet they can't boast of $10k in their own personal account.),they even claim money is not everything .I laugh so hard at their hypocrisy and self deceptions....so finally and finally speaking it's all about the MONEY...hahaha...it's no longer about the sane society, the security, the system that works, the good infrastructures,no police harassment etc...hmmmm,I was taught there's reward in honestly, why can't these people be sincere enough to admit they took the plunge for economic reasons??.if the forex situations is like $1=N1,would they have made the move??.,
P.S.... I was pulled over earlier today by the cops only to ask for my ID and who owns the car I was driving ,I equally asked if he would like to know who owns the blazer i was on.I guess my offense was that an African man was seen driving a convertible.if that is not intimidation and racially induced discrimination, then the likes of op and co should educate me. |

LUCAS99: Exactly, You have to beat them to their own game
The American Society is designed in such a way to have you working until retirement that way the economy is sustained.
When I look at my uncles & aunties that have spent 20 years to 30 years abroad without no visible investment, I really weep for them.
No house both in Nigeria & Abroad plus No Substantial Money saved up both in Nigeria & Abroad for Emergencies.
Today marked my 6 years in America {I came here on June 13th 2012}.
I have already told myself that by the next 4 years when I will be 28 years old and should have achieved my aim, I will definitely checked out of the country.
Then move back to Nigeria and start thinking about settling down with a wife and having kids.
I would only come back to the United States for occasional visit.
One thing I have noticed among Nigerians is once you cross the 10 year mark, it’s extremely difficult to move back to Nigeria. ..... Wow!!!....you are still relatively young, you still have energy to hustle, abeg do..that figure is definitely within your reach in no time .more so,you seem to have your plans. You remembering your first touchdown date here is more of fond memories to you.it's well. About people not coming back home after a long sojourn abroad can be attributed to various reasons among them is the fact they see themselves no longer fit into the society, the assumed mental disparity, the security phobia, different in cultural behavior,no more friends or contacts outside their extended family members and above all,no much money to impress and live big.many reasons you must say, reason it's good not to cut ties entirely with your home country. |

When I make a post or comment on this thread,i try not to bring Nigeria into the discussion but some people are hell bent on continually dragging the country into the fray just because of their unending animosity towards the country.if you are abroad and fall into this category, thank God for your life, but don't ever think of coming back to the country again o but to those who are still in the country,i just pity your situation cos if you don't take heed to Jeremiah 29.7, and have a change of mentality, you are most certain to die in that no solution condition of yours,no cussing. To that illiterate fellow arguing blindly about capitalism, let me make it simple for you;it simply means a system where the private entities control every sector of the economy and you cant say Nigeria falls into this definition.some people even say Nigeria practice more of something called controlled or command economy where the government controls virtually all the sectors. My mentioning about America practicing capitalism is not for negative vibe,as for me self,I prefer it over any other because it's more efficient and you get the services you are paying for,it actually promotes excellence and strong commitments unlike the others that promote corruptions and ineptitudes. |

LUCAS99: Honestly speaking, America has a way of getting you tied down into the system.
We make a lot of money but at the same time we spend a lot of money so at the end of the day is extremely difficult to save a lot of money after all the bills are paid.
As it stands now, the only thing holding me back here in the States is Funds.
Once I raise a enough funds {$100,000 -$200,000} I’m on the next flight back to Nigeria even if I have to take a loan from the bank.
I have already obtained a United States Passport so I can visit whenever I want.
Even if my kids are born in Nigeria then automatically they also become U.S. Citizen since I, the father is a U.S. Citizen.
Disclaimer: Please don’t leave America and relocate to Nigeria except you have obtained your U.S. Passport that way you have an option of going back if things don’t work out in Nigeria.
Anything apart from what I said above will be suicidal and you will only have yourself to blame since I will not be held liable for dishing out advice on an open web forum. ...... Very true, you earn and spend,a typical capitalist country, only way to breakthrough in such a society is to beat them to their own game. @bolded, $200k would be more like it except you already have your presence on ground back home.wish you all the very best. As for me,even as an America citizen,I never left Nigeria.in and out as often as possible.just love the social activities, entertainment gigs and above all the "concept of powerplay"....(if you know, you know). |

OK, Relocating abroad on any type of non-immigrant visas for the sake of getting a parole or do AOS cannot be termed legal immigration,if not we wont have any single one without residency. There's clear difference between travelling abroad and immigrating abroad legally, the latter has been abused and quoted wrongly. As i said earlier, the only legal immigration routes out of Nigeria as at today are through DV,family based and some kind of EB series. My opinion. |

GreatDIM: I was supposed to start sharing my experiences yesterday but was very busy. I'll start by sharing my experience as a student in UK.
This experience isn't as interesting as others I have, cos UK stance on migration is NOW clearly understood by many migrants. They are tired of migrants, be it from Europe, America, Asia or Africa. There's only tolerance for highly skilled workers in sectors where more hands are needed e.g Technology, Medicine etc.
Trying to migrate to UK without falling under that category is very difficult. There's even reward for reporting illegal migrants ( including people overstaying their visa). It doesn't even make sense trying to be too clever and migrate illegally, this is because UK has experienced all the NIGERIAN tricks you can come up with. While studying, some students couldn't afford to pay fees any longer. Many dropped out of school and started hustling (working as DJ's, promoters etc.), those were really bad moves, most were caught and deported back. Most left willingly after the hustle became too difficult to sustain.
For students going to study in UK, there are two hacks to getting a residence permit, the first is studying from Bsc to PhD level. This is very expensive but that is one of the methods with the highest success stories.
The second one is studying in-demand courses, getting good grades then returning back to Nigeria to get work experience. Having a first and/ second degree with good grades and valuable work experience puts you in good stead with the HR of companies. You seem more resourceful than those hanging around UK looking for employers who would sponsor their residence permit. I know lots of people who studied in UK and got jobs after applying from Nigeria, so don't be too desperate to remain there and taint your record.
And lastly, there's the method of having a kid with a citizen, I ask people is it worth it? I've hardly seen people who went that route fulfilling their potentials. Most of them end up as wastemen and fraudsters in UK. Tbh, I don't fancy living in UK cos we NIGERAINS are very infamous. We've duped a lot, scammed a lot, so much bad repuation. IT IS WELL .... You haven't still share your own personal experience. |
