Great job, Igboson! Pictures telling stories a million words can't tell!

Having travelled around Igboland, i am yet to see a place beautiful like Akwuke Beach. All the surroundings are a breathtaking beauty. It's a great treasure from nature for Enugu state.

Good for the participants, but as blacks they should be very careful in that part of Germany. Sachsen - Anhalt is one of Neo- Nazi infested areas in Germany.
Hopefully they will bring some good knowledge back to Nigeria.
Wishing them good luck!

You can't enlighten me about much in Enugu state. I live and dream the state everyday, though thousands of kilometres away!
PoliticsRe: NRC Successfully Connects Ph-enugu Rail Line, Train Move 1st Time In 12 Years by Nightshift(m):
I have travelled by rail in many countries, by Deutsche Bahn's ICE, France's TGV, Tallys, Austria's Railjet and Switzerland ' s SBB IC, but none equals the hilarious experience i had travelling by train along Enugu- Port Harcourt in the 80s.
One of my sweetest childhood memories were along Enugu, Agbani, Ugbawka, Oduma- Achara, Ndeabor, Afikpo, Ovim, Ikwuano Umuahia, Ibeku, Umuahia and Aba train stations.
Great to know those wonderful years are coming back.
Travelling by rail in Nigeria were big fun in those days, no fear of armed robbers or accidents.
PoliticsRe: Governor Chime - I Was Amused Reading My Obituaries by Nightshift(m): 12:21am On Aug 26, 2013
Governor Chime has been a blessing to Enugu state. He has worked hard for the state ; shown his love for the city of Enugu and laid a foundation for future growth.
I hope whoever takes over from him will sustain his programmes, and invest more capital in opening up the state's countryside.
New roads like the new Trans - Ekulu - Eha Alumona - Ikem road should be built, connecting Southern Nkanu with Agwu areas through Amurri, Nike town with Akpugo, Udi with Ezeagu/ Oji River etc.

The state government should also work on a longterm plan of introducing a shuttle train service between Oduma- Achara, Enugu - Emene / Eha- Amufu railways.
A new 5km rail track that links ESUTH to Agbani station should also be considered. What the state government need is a special arrangement with Nigeria Railway Corporation.
The new train stations at Orie Emene, Ogbete Main Market, Ziks Avenue and Maryland will all be useful for commuting passengers.

CFCfan: True. That could be Lufthansa's short-term strategy for the next year or 2, until passenger numbers can guarantee the viability of a direct Enugu-Frankfurt route.
Yeah, they can decide so if the management want. In 2005, i flew Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Port Harcourt, in a Frankfurt - PH - Abuja combo.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 10:46pm On Aug 24, 2013
CFCfan: Yea, that would be nice. But I think direct flights to Europe and the U.S. would be seasonal for now.
An airline like Lufthansa would combine a flight to Enugu with either Douala or Malabo.
Many Ndigbo in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, among other countries, will no doubt take advantage of such offer.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 10:24pm On Aug 24, 2013
CFCfan: According to the Aviation minister, 7 airlines are planning to start flights into Enugu.
I hope and wishes Lufthansa is among those airlines.
Flying from Frankfurt to Enugu will be awesome! grin

I was expecting Okanga Nike to line up dozens of masquerades outside the airport welcoming the plane and passengers. Shidodo and his group could also have been there entertaining those who like dancing to Enugu's famous Egwu Ogene.

Those beautiful Coal city folks! It is indeed a new dawn in Enugu, thanks to a tough political decision taken by Mr president.
PoliticsRe: FEC Approves N124bn For Reconstruction Of Enugu-Port Harcourt Road, Four Others by Nightshift(m): 12:04am On Aug 22, 2013
My take : awarding contract for reconstruction of Enugu - Port Harcourt expressway to Setraco Nig Ltd is wrong. Reason? The company has been doing shoddy work on the stretch Enugu - Umuahia section for over two decades.
Another company like Arab Contractors, or JB Nig Plc should have been allowed to do the job.

basilo101: Udi hills did nt end at 9th mile, check ur encater map, Nsukka is sitting at d peak of udi hills, with beatiful green hills and d coldest in d eastern region followed by Obudu in cross river. I've notice our brother frm d hinterlands kw little abt d town except those dat studied in UNN, maybe because at d extreme north of igboland n because civilization came late dia bt d landscape n climate is 2nd 2 none in d eastern region, a factor, we were told, influenced d siting of d 1st indigeneous university in d then remote area. And dis construction company destroying Oliveth Hill shud be stoped, does any1 kw any NGO dat cn help?
You're right, the hill extends toward Nsukka area. Unfortunately, we don't have a political party yet that cares for and fight for the protection of our environment. I believe we shall start looking at the Green Party evolution in central Europe, and see if we can start such an environment conscious movement.
What we have ( hills) around Enugu is a unique nature's gift to Ndigbo. The beauty of Abuja does not revolve around the modern buildings, rather it is it's unique landscape that really evoke emotions from nature lovers. Our state government can help in preserving that beauty by passing laws which can stop indiscriminate sale of lands in sensitive areas around the hill. Bush burning on and around the hill must also be discouraged.

cjrane: Bia this boy, You are truly a confirmed "EWU WAWA" !
You just open your smelly mouth and speak what you have absolutely no knowledge of. Incase you didn't know it, even the Wehrmach or the Waffen SS men were forbidden to touch Jewish women talkless of a relationship, and those that dared were shot.By your motor park fairy tales it will be asking too much to refer you to Mein Kampf. You probably never even heard of that, talk more of reading it. It is just tragic that youths of the present generation simply don't read books, but depend on backyard fairy tales from school dropouts as mechanics and vulcanizers as true account of history. You have displayed that you are indeed a BIG EWU ALA for the post above.
I just threw a bait that caught you naeked. The Hitler reference happened before his Nazi ideology took over him.
I have two copies of " Mein Kampf", the English version and the German version ( a language i speak and write).
I don't want to insult you, but we know that no Igboman is an " Ewu". For some people, being challenged in a discussion is already an overburden.
Unfortunately, you seem to be one of the vultures whom i alluded to yesterday in my argument. Enugu is bigger than all of you, and you can't change the fact that it has come to be what it is today - a symbol of Igboland' s struggle for freedom, be it in Biafran or in Wawa context.
I have noticed that we are from different schools of thought. Cheers, once more!
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 6:31am On Aug 16, 2013
@ Cyrnja , Wawaland and people have been in existence before East Central Region and Anambra state.
Hitler was dating and had Jewish lovers in Vienna and Munich before he unleashed evil on Jews. So, Ojukwu could not resist his love for Bianca, but that did not mean he loved Wawa people. Who coined the phrase " Ewu Wawa"?
Can you name Wawa people who were Ojukwu's close aids or friends. Having lived and travelled around Igboland, i am among few Igbo liberals here who have fought against the disunity amongst Ndigbo and the verbal hatred often displayed by some people against Ndigbo from other parts of Igboland.
People can twist stories, but they can not change known history. I would have loved to give you more historical jabs, but i have got work to do. Cheers!

I' m passionate about Coal city, i know the city inside out, lived there and still lives in the city. Though, thousands of miles away, i am ready to defend it from the shits of vultures bent on tarnishing the image of the city and the state its located.
I defend it with facts, firsthand facts gotten from my experience in the city. Those who schooled or grew-up in the city knows those facts.
I equally do same for Enyimba city, another Igbo city i am passionate about as well.

For those critics of Enugu state civil service reform, i have explained why it was pertinent for the state to do what it did during Nnamani's government.
No state in todays Nigeria will allow what was happening in Enugu civil service prior to the reform.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 8:42pm On Aug 15, 2013
Enugu evokes in Ndigbo the kind of emotions Berlin evokes in Germans. It's a historical narrative which is bigger than any Wawa hating Igboman.
Col. Emeka Ojukwu had a deep hatred and suspicion for Wawa people. Yet, he lived perhaps, the best part of his life in Wawaland.
Enugu people are still the most heartwarming Ndigbo. Other Ndigbo who have lived in Enugu know that we regard and respect other Igbo people.

Enugu akwulugo!!
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m):
Due to Col Akonobi's actions, by the time Enugu was created from Anambra state, the number of Enugu people in Enugu state civil service was less than 40% of the entire workforce.
Such anomaly was waiting to be corrected someday. Gov Nnamani was able to correct it by sacking mostly those people who benefited from the wrongful policy during the Nneni man's reign.
However, other state's citizens who were married to Enugu state people were allowed to stay in their job.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 8:21pm On Aug 15, 2013
Col. Akonobi succeeded in putting more people from Awka and Onitsha senatorial zones and few others from Imo state in the civil service at Enugu.
My town man Mr. Chukwu (Jungle), who was the principal of CIC Enugu fought and lost to the military dictator in Lion Building Enugu. He was removed from CIC and transfered to a remote school elsewhere.
C. C. Onoh fought Akonobi standstill, he went to Dodan Barracks in Lagos, telling Babangida ( the military president) that Col Akonobi was destroying the institutions in Enugu due to his hatred for Wawa people.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m):
The policy of sacking civil servants of other states from Enugu state civil service was as a result of policy enacted and practiced by former military governor of Anambra state, Col. Akonobi in 1986.
In 1986, Akonobi from Nneni decided to sack or demote civil servants from then Enugu, Nsukka and Abakaliki senatorial zones of old Anambra state. It was termed operation "Wawa people must go". Hundreds if not thousands of Wawa Ndigbo were victims to Akonobi's action.

What do you folks know about Enugu and its pivotal position in Igbo politics?
I am sure that some commentators here have not be to Enugu in their life. The kind of people who can hardly mention the names of villages bordering their hometown in Igboland.

Afam4eva: Ezioukwu ka ikwuru!!

Pls where's Eka Alumona located in Enugu btw?
Afam, if my radar of Igbo landscape serves me right, i believe that Eha - Alumona use to be in Igboeze LGA of Enugu state. It could also be in Igbo- Etiti LGA. All these LGA's are in old Nsukka senatorial zone of Enugu state.
Other towns in the area are Aku, Opi, Oboloafor, Enugu- Ezike, Ede- Obala, Ogbudo- Abah, among others.

Who else will AwKa benefit if not a Rascal politician like urself.

What industry is in Awka, if not the seat of Governance.

It is clear that u wouldn't know where to start with development of Anambra State.

Kindly stand aside for an economist to do what economist and financial expert do best.

That is to develop Anambra Industrial and Commercial Potential, investing in the people of Onitsha Commercial City and Nnewi Industrial Town.

Whilst they commission a befitting City along the oil and gas region. Africa's own Dubai and Japan, a technological hub.
