He told Completesportsnigeria.com that he will be contended with wins against Egypt at the expense of him playing in both ties. He failed to make the starting 11 against Swaziland in a World Cup qualifier recently, a bold move by Sunday Oliseh who elected to play Paul Onobi instead. The former Lyn Oslo midfielder has been a mainstay in Chelsea’s midfield since the departure of Jose Mourinho and seems to be enjoying his football again. Surely, the Eagles benefit from that. Yau Hassan’s inclusion is a strange one. The burly player, listed as a midfielder, has played predominantly as an attacker at Kano Pillars and Wikki Tourists. He has strength and a physical presence but he hasn’t exactly set the local scene alight. Matthew was one of the few bright lights for Nigeria in an otherwise dour Chan tournament and has now gotten his day in the sun with an invitation to the senior squad. Former Fifa under-17 MVP Kelechi Iheanacho is listed as a midfielder even though he plays as a centre-forward for his English side, Manchester City.
