OP must have overheard a disgustingly loud fart this morning and this messed up his or her entire day. The fart translates as "maggots were on the dirty plates" since everyone washes plates at one time or another.

Eggplant is not Efo Igbo because it's also a Yoruba food.

Eggplant is Igba. Perhaps some parts call it Efo Igbo (now that you mention it) but I believe ugwu/ugu is also known as the same.

Besides, there's a different pumpkin species normally eaten in Yorubaland. The name is very popular, let me think about it.

Ugwu/Ugu is fluted pumpkin, the Yoruba one is regular (Nigerian) pumpkin I think, hollow stem and very tasty but also doesn't hold up to long cooking because it looses it's taste and texture.

I'm not sure if you're saying Yoruba don't eat/know African egg plant or you just want to derail the thread.

Why would Yorubas call egg plant leaf efo Igbo? Eggplant is Igba.

Efo Igbo is used for tonic (according to google). I'm not sure if it's also used in party cooking, it's either that or the egg plant leaf.

For party cooking, it's cheaper perhaps and sold in bulk quantities so that would make it more convenient and cost effective. Also, the longer cooking time.

The reason many Yorubas would be confused by the term Ugwu/Ugu/Efo Igbo is because they don't know what it is. In the southwest, it's very common in Lagos. Not sure about other places.

The atms are supposed to have alarms that indicate a breach in security. This would also make them somewhat inconvenient to smash and not worth the effort.

Perhaps the Nigerian atms don't have this feature?

"Efo Igbo" I think has more recognition.
