scaming people is not a way ...
Now you have labelled them "scammers". You wrote here yourself that you do not know how they make their money for them to spend it on expensive cars and wristwatches. Like I said to my younger brother when he brought up the subject of how Hushpuppi makes his money (the guy is a millionaire in dollars but till tomorrow NOBODY can attest to the source of his wealth), don't worry about Hushpuppi. Rather worry about making your own money, even more than this hushpuppi who in my opinion is broke (em get 1 billion dollars? Then he's broke!) Again, my two cents

It seems most wealthy Nigerians earn their wealth from shady foundation,I use to dream of becoming rich and look up to some mentors but lately am very disappointed,I used I wonder what sort of bussiness the like of e money, mompha ,iventus obi do to earn such huge money that they can afford cars wort 400k dollars ...
Dude go and make money and stop wondering how the likes of emoney got rich. It is not your job to ponder over the reasons people choose to buy watches of sixty million dollars. The time you would have used to come up with ideas on how to make your own money to buy a 400,000 dollar car, you are spending that time complaining about how another man chooses to spend his own money. Make your own money and spend it the way it pleases you. Just my two cents.

This does not answer the question.
Let me break it down. Assume you invested N1m Oct 01 for 181days, at say 10% which ends 31 Mar 2020. 2020 being a leap year. How would the discounted value be calculated? I would assume this should be N950,410.96 but a bank calculates it as 952,944.08.. which is like N2,533.12 extra taken by the bank. How does this work out? 181 is 181days.. what part does a leap year have to play in this?

Assistance anyone?
Oga as it stands Nigeria already has too many problems. No come carry extra problem give person abeg

1M should give 130k
But you need 1M in...
I'd say run 800k, take 104k (up front interest)

Add 100k(4k remaining)to the remaining 100k run 200k on the next date take 26k(up front interest) add to the remaining 4k you have 30k cash and 1M in the bank

It is not advisable to be stating amounts on a public forum. It has been repeated several times on here. Please be cautious. You can make your point without that.

To your question, bonds tend to have higher yield because of their longer tenor. However, because it is difficult to predict what inflation will be over the course of the 10 or 20 or 30 years tenor, it just be might be better to invest in tbills (a year tenor) and keep rolling over. That way, you can always re-evaluate every year what makes sense.

He said he is expecting 18 million from the sell. What is so wrong with that statement? You guys gotta chill

Please I do not understand these banks. I went to Zenith and was told only 1 million upwards. Also at Stanbic IBTC, was told secondary has ended. Only primary is on. But I thought the rates been display was on the 15th. So why are they saying secondary has ended. And why will Zenith say only a million naira upwards can invest?
I had to open GTB because Zenith is a million upwards. Also their rates are shitty so that was another reason

Its not a joke.

its the state of the affairs our economy now...

The govt wants to drop interest rates to encourage GDP growth.

its signaling that by dropping the rates at which they will borrow from investors.

hopefully the commercial banks will take a cue from that and drop interest rates too so that we can borrow cheaply and do real business rather than dumping our funds with govt and collecting high interest rates on them

delawal:

its d other way round. many people re rushing to do tbills BC s economy is in comatose. Biz is not moving again. if not, many people will invest their money in businesses. d poverty rate in naija now is affecting sales and businesses, a sign the govt is really incompetent and lacks ideas

Feelamong said it's the affairs of the economy; the affairs of the economy could be bad or good. Let us read to understand before quickly shutting down people that they're wrong.

For you to mention 10 million like that, it means you see that amount as huge. For you to see that amount as huge, you must be wallowing in absolute misery. No wonder at your old age you are still trying to figure out what to do with your life. I bet the poverty cycle in your family won't stop with you; you will pass it on to your children and your children will pass it on to theirs.

You TissuePaper are a poor man. We are not, and NEVER will be on the same level. Go and make money! 10 million is change but I bet you will never understand that statement.

Let's not be quick to insult ourselves here. The man was honest enough to mention his father; what of if he had mentioned that he owned the property, would you have asked him to shut up? Let's not allow our emotions to take over our sense of judgement. This is a faceless group for Pete sake!
Well, if we are to go in that direction I own the property cause it's in my name (which is why he wouldn't sell it). If TissuePaper wants to kill himself cause he was born into poverty, let him go ahead!

I have been thinking of the shortest way possible to say this so let me try.

To those saying we are digressing here and people are showing off their net worth, please you are wrong. As someone who came on board when this page was still at 300 and read pretty much 100 pages, and never missed a page from 300 till the current page, I can confidently say that I haven't noticed anyone mention figures here when it wasn't absolutely necessary and related to the topic. Sometimes it is good to mention figures in order to get people motivated (I would give examples but I want to keep this short). Edit: on second thoughts, for example when I said my father with over 4 billion Naira still works, it wasn't to brag on a faceless forum. Rather it was to motivate that young man that 1.7m is not enough reason to get unmotivated to work

I think the people who get mad here are people who feel they cannot comment the same thing and mean it. For example, when Ahiboilandgas comments about his trucks, I wanna say "abeg go sit down everytime truck truck". But instead, I get motivated and tell myself that someday I might be able to brag like him (note that I am not saying he brags. Please read this with a mature mind).

Anyways my point is, rather than hate on people here for commenting and trying to inspire you, let their successes inspire and motivate you to get up at 4am like I did this morning.

Thank you sir for just proving my point. Take heart though. I would say I understand your frustration but I would be lying.

See this land thing na luck o. Or you just have to be strategic enough to foresee the future. Land that my father bought for 400,000 Naira early 2000s I think is now valued around 80m. They're begging him to sell it but he wants to pass it down as inheritance so wouldn't sell
I knew I wasn't sure so asked my brother. Lands in that area are now worth 60-80m and even higher. My father's is worth 400m cause of the buildings (buildings that probably didn't cost more than 200m to build). So this land thing na just luck cause who would have thought back then that lands there would be worth this much today? #Luck

You didn't get the content of my message. There is a big difference btw spiritualism and religion. I know religion had done a collateral damage to the psyche of most Nigerians. Religion is politics. We all need a sound spiritual life to excel in life, the spiritual controls the pysical. Praying fervently is the easiest and surest way to build a spiritual life and not being religious like Nigerians.

@Nnamz, How smart would you be if a jealous friend or family member should secretly take your name to a native doctor or spiritual realm for your elimination?

How smart would you be if after a slight headache and your doctor confirmed that you have cancer and few more months/years to live. Would you still be concerned about the next date for t-bill auction?

Always build your spiritual life with prayers as you progress in life, because many are not happy with the level of success you have attained.

Even King Solomon with all his God given wisdom had enemies and always prayed for a spiritual strength.
You think my father would still be alive if his fate in life depended on people not going to native doctors? You think people won't be lining up in front of babalawos if that's all it took to bring my father down? My father is not religious. And before your shallow mind goes there, no he does not have jazz. So religious or not, you will die when your time comes, not when someone decides to go to a babalawo. Mtchewww

Nice input from all the gurus in the house. It is important to save money as much as you can and guide your money jealously. Also remember to enjoy life as you work hard for your money, but don't live extravagantly or buy things you don't need or things you can do without. And also try to be greedy a bit when trying to get to the top of the ladder, greediness is a very important factor if you want to become rich or wealthy in life. Most wealthy people all over the world are extremely greedy but become generous after making wealth. But be generous and help those that truly needs it once you become rich, most of the money you will be using to help others could be interest from your capital. Capital is meant to be inherited by our children when we join our ancestors, (most wealthy people spend only the interest on their capital) that's why it is critically important to start teaching our children the rules of money at an early age.

Remember to also build your spiritual life as strong as possible, as you become more successful in life, many friends and family members will hate you with passion and secretly wish for your downfall due to envy. Building a strong spiritual life is one way you can overcome the hates and challenges that comes with wealth and influence.

The Hustling Continues, God Bless YOu All.
Bros. Your spiritual life will not save you from people that wanna see you fall. It is your smartness and wisdom. It is all these spirituality thing that is making Nigeria not to progress
