Thank goodness, i never rated the guy. It would have been another 5m down the drain.

I support buying Kalou, i expect wenger intends to buy Kalou so as to replace Eboue or something on the right wing. Kalou would have improved had he come to arsenal. He seems to have retrogressed a little in my opinion.

This is religion at one of its lowest, tragic loss of a poor child. Bible-believing and practising christians would disagree 100% with this literalist, have strong enough 'faith only' parents. The bible teaches the exact opposite of what they did.
religion causes us to use blind faith.

true bible believing causes us to have an assurance of faith which engages our brain.

May kelly:
yuo lack knowledge and will soon perish
shocked shocked shocked

Haba May Kelly that is not necessary, u can choose to disagree with someone without actually being insulting or resort to using curses or condemnation based statements.

Bottom line is that:

- Pastor Tunde Bakare may not be perfect (just as most almost all human beings are not perfect)
- Pastor Tunde Bakare is a pastor leading a well known church in lagos, hence he is obviously putting his reputation on the line for coming out against something which some so called big pastors are actually indirectly supporting.
- Tunde Bakare's church stands to lose a lot of financial income by his decision to speak against first fruit, hence at least put it into perspective that it at least means that he is willing to at least stand up for what he believes to be true (something which i believe to also be true).
- Hence at least understand that it takes a little bit of character for someone to willingly and openly go against the issue of first fruit knowing that such an action is bound to be deterimental financially speaking.

Hence in as much as u might not agree with the idea that churches collecting first fruit is unethical and unbiblical, at least there should be no need to go down the route of cursing or insults.

later.

Agree that that was a little bit too harsh ,  nevertheless i certainly am not one to support eligible black men being snapped up by white women. For goodness sake if white women love black men so much why not take the broke ass ones and leave the successful ones for the black women.

I am trained to look at things beyond the surface hence why i tend to feel there is more than its meets the eyes wen most successful black men somehowend up losing their generational identity through assimmilation into the general caucasian race.

I sincerely find it hard to find white women attractive, the skin, the fake body parts, plastic surgeries are just a complete turn off.

I have seen enough white women without make-up to know that i would rather stick with my ebony sisters.

Church and government have nothing in common.

- The catholic church became wat it is today because Roman Government mixed with the early church in a particular area.

No matter how noble the intention, the long term effect of beaurucracy and government interference is deterimental to the church as a whole. at least close to 2000yrs of catholic heresy is evidence of wat can happen and how lives can be lost and how government inteference can actually result in retrogression of the church.

@tubabie, @debosky, @ladyT and others in the UK

Abeg be careful with the kind of meat that you buy and cook. I just experienced something weird with the meat that i bought from a Spar Shop here in Manchester. This is not my first time of boiling and frying meat for consumption while making my own stew, hence i was suprised by the experience of the meat i bought from Spar.

- I boiled the meat, no problem (it was still looking like a meat at this point in time)
- I tend proceeded to fry it after boiling, hence when i encountered my suprise

The Meat got burnt easily, compared to other meat (i am not too suprised about this cause the cooker is quite strong) and however the suprising experience is that:

The burnt meat literarily melted instead of hardening up due to burning grin grin grin. My whole experience of burning or over fried meat is that it would become very hard and smaller. However in this case the meat literarily melted. This can simply mean that there is something wrong with the meat or that what was actually sold as meat may not be a meat afterall.

Usually i get pissed when i burn something while cooking, however in this case i am grateful cus at least it helped and prevented me from eating something that could have had an adverse effect on my body.

Therefore my advise is this:

Restrict yourself to buying foodstuffs mostly from African Food oriented shops and not from Westernised shops like Spar and co, cus it seems they are doing something to the raw food (no wonder their people get obese and have a lot of health problems).

REAL TRUTH:
Since the General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, condemned first fruit offering last weekend, controversies have trailed his remarks on the issue.

Pastor (Mrs) Faith Olumuyiwa, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, Ajayi Farm branch, while commenting on the issue, quoted the Book of Proverbs 3:9 “honour the Lord with thy substance and with the first fruit of your increase” which she described as a prerequisite to securing God’s material blessings. Olumuyiwa said though the injunction is in the old testament, Jesus christ, celebrated in the new testament has not come to cancel the law, but to fulfill it.

“When you give God your first fruit in the year, you are entering into covenant with God throughout that year. I have seen a Muslim who does it, everything is based on the understanding of the giver. Except you are living in sin, there is no way you will give your first fruit offering and you will not see the result,” she stated.

Corroborating Olumuyiwa, Pastor Tosho Abioye, a minister in one of The Redeemed Christian Church of God parishes, said, biblically, first fruit is good and whatever is good is worth doing. Though, he will not want to contest what Pastor Bakare said.

Pastor Melissa Scott, from the Los Angeles University Cathedral, commenting on firstfruit on her website, firstfruit teaching.com, which was premised on the book of Leviticus 23:9-14 said: “There is a first concept before your blessing comes. God says, You take the first of whatever comes in your hands, the first of your harvest, whatever it is and you bring it to the priest. That’s before blessing. Blessing comes afterwards.”

According to her, one of the principles that a first fruit offering teaches is that a future harvest is promised. The first fruit is just a taste of what lay in store at the end of the full in gathering of the harvest. Therefore, when a first fruit offering was brought before the Lord, it represented a prayer to him to watch over the future harvest that was therefore shadowed by the minute proportion that was being presented.

Another principle of the first fruit offering is that, it represents a part of the whole. When that part is offered to the Lord, the remaining part becomes holy to him. It sanctifies the entire lump from which the first fruit offering comes.

She said:‘The minute people hear the word money or giving, they just tune out. And you know what? I don’t blame them. If you have not been taught on why you should give, giving will not make sense to you. I want you to learn why you should give. I need to talk about money. How else can change happen and how else can I tell people out there in TV-land that giving in its truest form is inextricably tied to Christianity? You cannot separate them.’

Pastor Jacob Akoja, The Apostolic Church, Oshodi Assembly, however, said the church does not preach about it, but any member who understands the biblical injunction and brings the offering, it is not rejected.

He added that “it is not limited to money, even a first child or first property should be dedicated. But that can be redeemed, as one can monetise it.”

Speaking in the same vein, Mr Yomi Obaditan, said his church, Deeper Life Ministry, does not preach about it, but he heard the testimony of someone who did it and ever since, he has been giving his first fruit.

Sister Kemi Ogooluwa told that she has been a faithful giver sincesix years ago. According to her, giving goes along with faith and grace. If one does not have it, it may be difficult to give.

Mr Funsho Adeolu, a member of the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA), said his church does not preach first fruit but dwells more on tithe.

Pastor Tunde Bakare had decried last Sunday, the various strategies employed by some so-called men of God to amass wealth through the exploitation of their members. Bakare lamented that most church members have been brainwashed by pastors to the extent that they could go hungry to satisfy them.

Pastor Bakare criticised his colleagues, especially those in the big churches, for making first fruit offering compulsory in their churches. First fruit offering, according to him, is the offering of whatever a church member makes in the first month of every year.

This, Pastor Bakare said, “is exploitation and an evil perpetrated by predators who are supposed to be taking care of the flock.”

“We (the church) have gone totally bad that pastors now exploit their members in the name of first fruit offering. Is that the scripture or manoeuvre?” he asked.

The pastor added that other men of God, who do not fully understand the first fruit as explained in the Bible, have since joined the pastors, who have made it compulsory in their churches.

“They have made it so compulsory that they now make people pay their first salaries in the year to the church. What will they eat afterwards?” he asked, describing it as sheer exploitation.

The highlighted points is wat really pisses me off:

- Why choose to obey an old testament command that talks about money but refuse to obey that which talks about an eye for an eye.
- If the Messiah has already fuffilled the law, then why are we still trying to keep it.
- What exactly is a the first fruit, is it money or time or farm produce.
- For Tunde Bakare to come out to say it means at least he knows it is going on and considering that he being a pastor would benefit from it if he keeps quiet then it makes sense that some pastors might also be conflicted on it but are not doing anything about it cus of peer pressure.
- How come a muslim is benefitting from it considering that that covenant is supposed to be accessible to those who are saved and not just to everybody or we saying that the Messiah is of no relevance in this case since it involves wealth creation.

This is exactly the reason why i dislike and keep as far as possible away from prosperity gospel. Most (if not all) of it is complete lie and mere brainwashing.

Many times I just sit and laugh at how the make these assertions and declare them to be fact - without an ounce of proof or evidence. The bible already told us they are stuck "in the futility in their thinking".
Heavy stuff sister. The very dark history of the catholic church is a matter of public record, history does not lie. I don't think most followers know of its history.
Perhaps I can convince you, a Roman Catholic priest is the main 'star' in the movie  smiley

GEW,
hold your horses now & don't worry we will revert back to movie speak, this isn't the religion section afterall. Max oya back to the regularly scheduled topic before we start katakata  smiley
@jesoul
Now you know part of the reason why i got fed up and left the place (and ended up flirting on romance section grin), infact i am even sometimes scared of discussing with some people over there in the religious section now cus it seems at least one person is starting to show traces of suicidal tendecies.

I am stunned that some people on the religious thread would clearly and easily see a bible verse that clearly says something but instead choose to either ignore or start hurling abuses instead of examining the evidences based on its merit.

@jesoul sometimes i wonder how i ended up not studying history cus the rate at which i tend to devour historical information sometimes actually affects my study sef, hence imagine how frustrating it is not to be able to have a civil discussion on the religious thread without insults.

By the way, how is pilgrim1 she seems to be one of the few thats capable of engaging in discussion without hurling insults or trying to ridicule the opponent.
