To add to what jogojogo has said when applying for your spouse did your by chance submit any nigerian job or claim to get a study leave from your work place in nigeria? If yes they might want to see that. If no then submit the pay slips of your part time job in canada. But sincerely something must have trigered or waranted that request so think well and be careful in responding. It will end in praise[/quote]

Just went through my documents i submitted in 2019, I attached a study leave letter with pay from my office in Nigeria. Does this mean I have to source for pay slips and include them? This quite confusing. Spoke with some people this morning and they advised that this request letter is specifically for spouses already on PGWP.

my program is two years and started in 2020 to end in May 2022

I am still a student and not eligible for PGWP yet.

The study permit expires AUGUST 27TH 2022

In additon to others' comments, may I ask:
1. Was your program supposed to be for a year?
2. Were you 'ideally' expected to have had a post-graduation work permit already?
3. The study permit you used to support your spouse's application expires/expired when?

It is very unlikely they will ask you for payslips when you are not expected to have a full-time work.

Thank you so much..... After our conversation on phone, I discovered you are a learner. I am too hard to fall for your tricks.

If really you think you can discredit my name, kindly upload your proof that I am up to tricks. I know how many people have used the same man I gave you his contact. There's only one place to get that authentication and it's Abuja. Ask anyone on nairaland. If you are really serious call me on video so I can show you mine. I don't have time for kid games.

I have been trying to get the Drivers licence authentication letter for over a month now but it seems so difficult to get as the FRSC officials I have been communicating with keep procrastinating day after day. I want to use this letter to process my Drivers Licence in Ontario, Canada and I am traveling this Friday. Can anyone help with someone reliable I can talk to in FRSC to process this document for me? Your assistance in this regard will be appreciated.

Send me a DM. I have a reliable official that delivered my own authentication without stories. I hope your driver's license in naija is still valid.

For those advocating for disturbing Nairobi officials, what we you say about this response to a January Applicant. This people are heartless:

Good Day,

Thank you for your emails.

All of the information you need was provided to you previously in our recent responses. In view of our limited resources, we will not be able to respond to any further correspondences from you regarding this matter.

We respectfully request that you withhold from writing further emails until we contact you. We will not be responding to future emails received within this timeframe.

Hi. I might be wrong but maybe you should consider this: I think the GCMS note shows that they have already granted your SOWP for which they don't need to provide you a letter of exemption to travel because it is a nondiscretionary trip but they received a webform that your spouse and child planned to visit for just a month not to stay and possibly extend stay so this means that it is no longer non-discretionary. The policy on the website states that for it to be nondiscretionary, it must be beyond 15 days (a month is longer but they might think it is too short if your visa is much longer. Hence the revert to a regular TRV). TRVs are nondiscretionary.

I might be wrong but I couldn't take the chance that you might not consider this and possibly rectify the situation.

Yes, I have sent an email and webform to Nairobi this morning stating that the purpose of travel is strictly for reunification of family via open work permit and not with any intention of visiting. I also attached the gcms notes, proof of relationship, letter of application for authorization which was submitted earlier, spouse TRV, study permit, and passport data page. This afternoon, I as the spouse in Canada has contacted the MP office in my area and they have requested for information on the application so as to ask IRCC the status of my wife's application.

This information shows your Open work permit has been approved already, but IRCC is just delaying the announcement of your final result and PPR.
They intend to start issuing the final result when the restriction is relaxed.
I will advise that you tell your spouse to contact the MP of his base in Canada to reach out to IRCC to expedite the processing of your app.

OR
Better to wait till IRCC start sending out the final result - PPR.

(This is my understanding and opinion of the note)

*Can you please share your application timeline?*

It will end in praise.

I think the prioritisation is solely for visit visa.

Yes I did.

Good day house. I am currently trying to figure out the exact meaning of this Gcms notes because its very confusing and I am also consulting with other people on it.

NOTE: In the application letter, there was never any mention of my spouse coming to VISIT me, however, there was clear indication of her applying for SOWP and the main purpose was family reunification.

Jesus, remember you said “it is NOT GOOD for a man to be alone”? therefore, I stand by your word, cause there to be commotions of approvals, specifically on this platform before the end of this midst of the year July, for the sake of your people that are trusting you to reunite with their spouses, Jesus, turn every policy and in their favor, because I know that the heart of the King is in your hands. Thank you my father, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

NB; I already told God I want my wife’s visa approved before the end of this July, I don’t know or have an idea how he will do it, I just know he WILL DO IT, and all eyes will see it and hear it here. You can enroll in this faith school too!

Amen!!!

I feel SOWP applications are not prioritized at the moment. There seems to be alot of drags on this type of application. Has anyone who recently applied for SOWP for their family after arriving in Canada (as international student) got approval or got GCMS notes that indicates some form of activities on these particular application(s)? My family appled about 2 months ago, upfront medical passed within 4 days, biometric completed and updated, but eligibility has not shown started since then. Anyone - or know someone - with something different than this?

Medical passed since February 3, no eligibility review yet

Hi guys, qstn, in applying for SOWP for spouse and child to come over, do you need to complete a seperate visitor application form for the child or just mentioning in the form that the child will be coming with you will suffice

imm5257e Application for visitor visa (temporary resident visa) for children below 5 years

The child would be a dependent but under the spouse (primary applicant) application

I received this reply for my wife's SOWP:

Based on our assessment of your recent enquiry, we cannot process your request as you have not provided sufficient evidence that you meet an exemption criterion and/or that your travel to Canada is non-discretionary, per the travel restrictions implemented to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID‑19) in Canada.
Even though you do not meet an exemption criterion and/or your travel has not been deemed non-discretionary, your application will now be put on hold until after the travel restriction pause has been lifted.
Thank you for your interest in visiting Canada.

Sincerely,
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada MC24468

does it mean that people are not receiving this exemption and has anybody here been given the exemption to travel?

Amen ,this is what some of us fail to understand, some think Marvellous SOP is the greater chance of securing a visa ..We need to start understanding that everything varies, it’s just to do your able best, follow procedures and leave the rest for GOD

What many applicants don't understand is the power of research and reading constantly. This nairaland platform is gold and full of knowledge. I was refused may last year and I was hungry to get my next app approved. I took time to read as far back as part 11 to part 16, between May and November last year with full dedication and it paid off big time. I wrote what I would not have written on a normal day. I just used alot of combined advice and suggestions plus God's grace. Canada will be full of challenges and you need to write assigments, projects among other things. Let your study permit application be your foundation for what is to come. Peace

first set of officers you meet would give you a form to fill in contact details and where you would isolate . Next is the one goods declaration form where they ask what and what you brought. Then to the main counter where copr is signed. For accommodation its best to inform host you are a traveler as mine cancelled due to covid fears. Later found a host who didn't mind i just traveled. For groceries there are apps for ordering stuff ( i used instacart and got free shipping as a new subscriber). Sin is now done online. Most officers did not bother to verify things said at poe maybe due to covid. But someone was asked to log in their mobile app to see pof balance.

Bro, one question; Did you use your nigerian bank card to pay for the airbnb immediately? Or did u book and pay later?

Please are you starting in September or January

I think it is best for you to have all the money in your account to show financial ability

@YemmyPOG
In addition to any other suggestions that will be given to you by the more experienced people, I advise you should also show funds that would be used to carter for your family in your absence. This was one of the refusal reasons in my first application: "Personal assets and financial status". Eventually, in my 2nd application, I had to show around 3.5 million and state clearly in my SOP that its for my family while am away. You might use a lesser amount, it depends on what you have. Good luck

Good day sirs/mas,

please my sister is about filling the Canadian Study Permit form but has only the National Identity Slip, not the ID card itself.

Now the Study permit form requires the issue and expiry dates of the national ID to be filled but they do not appear on the slip.

I will very much appreciate an advice on the way forward please.

Thank you all

It is not mandatory to provide a national ID, the most important document is her international passport which always has issue date and expiry date.

Quick Question:
While writing LOE, is it advisable to be subtle about the last application refudal or address it head on?

I would advise you draft an LOE that would come first before the SOP. This LOE would state the refusal reasons and clarifications on how the refusals were addressed in detail; one by one with their individual sub-headings. How has your current situation has changed? Have you added new documents to support your statements? Did u forget to add any vital documents and you have now added it? State all of it. Good luck

Hello House,

A quick one,

On the IMM1294e form,

The Language(s) box section, where dey asked for "Native lang./Mother Tongue", is it our Yoruba, IBO or Hausa language am gonnna choose or is it English Language I should select?

Thanks!!!

Choose either IGBO, YORUBA OR HAUSA as it applies to you. Note that your mother tongue means your native language. English is a borrowed language from the westerners.

They will serve as an evidence of something's u wrote in ur SOP.., they will also use it to know the Documents u used to apply for the Admission u got to study in Canada

One very important advice, upload all the documents you feel that will be vital to your application. Don't remove docs because someone said it is too much. In total, I uploaded 24 documents and still got approval. It all depends on your situation.

Goodluck

Good Morning happy people.

I want to say a very big thank you to everybody that has been contributing to this thread. It has been immensely helpful.

I got admission into PGD in Industrial automation starting September in Ontario Colleague.

My concern is linking my SOP with my documents: I am currently employed with a job related to my course of study(not closely related.) but my monthly pay is not up to 100k. On the other hand, I have a personal account that have a good money flow and currently about 5m balance.

Now should I include my current employment letter and pay slip in the document submitted or should I only include the account statement for my personal account. I am trying to make a good case for home tie.

I am being sponsored by my elder bother who works for an oil company, his account balance and property is ok to sponsor me.

Thanks Nairalanders your candid advice will be appreciated.

Bro, I believe that some dedicated people took time to write out an SOP structure at the beginning of this thread. You can find how to use subheadings to explain and link your documents in your SOP. Secondly, your personal account, what is the source of that money ? Do you have a freelance job or side hustle apart from your main job? Finally, since your job is not closely related with your intended course? What was your previous bsc and your current job description ?
