Totally wrong. One, you don't measure population by the number of local government areas. Two, Urhobos are established well in Warri South LGA as a majority and in Patani as a minority. Three, Isoko has two LGAs. If you count the LGAs where Urhobos can be found ONLY in Delta State, you have a total of 10! If you add Isoko, then you have 12!

Apart from the LGAs, Urhobos have been authenticated by both the national census and voting strength as the most populous ethnic group in the state.


@Op: Population alone doesn't determine influence. In terms of influence, Urhobos are not resolute enough to have ample influence. Urhobos lack unity and that is their greatest undoing. Fortunately, nobody can ignore the population of the Urhobos.

iona Onasanya, the disgraced former Labour MP jailed for perverting the course of justice, has been struck off as a lawyer for trying to avoid a speeding fine.
The 35-year-old former Peterborough MP was barred from practising law after a Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found she had acted dishonestly.
The one-time Labour whip was jailed in January for three months after being convicted at the Old Bailey for perverting the course of justice. Her brother, Festus, who helped her cover up the crime, was jailed for 10 months after pleading guilty to the same charge.
The tribunal sitting in London today found she had acted dishonestly, without integrity and failed to uphold the rule of law or behave in a way that would maintain the public’s trust.
Edward Nally, the chairman of the three panel tribunal, said: “The conviction has led to disastrous consequences for Miss Onasanya, both personally and professionally as a solicitor, albeit not a practising solicitor.
“A solicitor owes a duty to the court, as an officer of that court. While a parliamentarian makes the law, a solicitor must uphold the law and the rule of law. Sadly, in this case Miss Onasanya has failed.”
She qualified as a solicitor in 2015 and worked in property law until her election in June 2017, six weeks before her Nissan Micra was filmed speeding at 41mph in a 30mph zone in Thorney, Cambridgeshire.

Onasanya denied driving the car, instead telling police a Russian man lodging at the family home had been behind the wheel. However, it emerged he was in Russia at the time of the offence.
Onasanya admitted she was a solicitor in “name only.” However, throughout the hearing she maintained her innocence, despite an appeal against her conviction in March failing.
“I maintain and stand by the fact that I didn’t do what I have been convicted of - perverting the course of justice. And, I am pursuing avenues to clear my name.”
She declined to comment as she left the court with her mother, Paulina. Onasanya was ordered to pay £6,562 costs.
Following her conviction in December last year, she was booted out of the Labour Party
but continued to serve as an independent MP.
She served just 28 days of a three-month prison sentence and was released from Bronzefield prison in Surrey in February. However, she continued to receive her MP’s salary of £77,379.
She was kicked out of Parliament after more than 19,000 of her Peterborough constituents voted to oust her following her conviction.
She became the first MP to be removed as a result of a recall petition. She decided against running as an independent in the subsequent by-election, in which Labour clung onto the seat.

Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have led a peaceful protest in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State against the suspended Ruga programme of the Federal government and some other policies which they tagged as “bad.”

The protesters who trouped out in their numbers grounded human and vehicular movements along some major roads and streets in the state capital for several hours. They announced their total rejection of Ruga as they marched.

The peaceful protest was organised by the religious arm of IPOB known as Supreme Clergy Council of Biafra (SCCOB).

The IPOB members who wore Biafra insignias and brandished Biafra flags commenced their protest from Mechanic village. From there, they marched through Ogoja Road and branched to Gunning Road and marched through Abacha Roundabout to New Market Road before joining Afikpo Road through Vanco Junction.

Upon getting to Spera-in-Deo, they returned to Mechanic village from where they took off.

Security agents including policemen were on ground to ensure that the peaceful protest did not degenerate into a chaotic situation along the line. They also matched to in some strategic locations in the capital city during the peaceful protest.

Speaking to newsmen, leader of the protesters, Bishop Nwachinemere Stanley, said that they decided to embark on a peaceful protest to register their displeasure and total rejection of Ruga and other ‘bad’ policies of the Federal government.

Nwachinemere said: “We are members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the clergy department called Supreme Clergy Council of Biafra (SCCOB). We are the religious arm of Biafra restoration.

“Today, we the clergy and other departments in IPOB came out to express our dissatisfaction over the happenings in Nigeria including their evil plan to establish Ruga in Igboland. We are not in support of this their evil agenda. We are totally against Islamisation of Igboland. We are Biafrans, we are not Fulani.

“Security agencies tried to stop us but we resisted them and protested successfully against Ruga because we are preachers. We should stand out to speak the truth. We are called for freedom and we are not after anybody’s sorrow or tears. We are deliverers,” he said.

The IPOB cleric alleged that the security agents fired gunshot at them, an allegation which the police through its spokesperson in the state, DSP Loveth Odah denied.

“Security agents shot at us and I sustained a facial injury which I thank God it not serious,” Nwachinemere alleged.

Odah denied it, saying: “I don’t understand what they meant by facial injury because if an AK47 which the police use is shot at someone, one bullet can kill like five at a time. I don’t know what they mean by facial injury when we are talking about AK47. Or are they talking about shouting at them with a stick?

“The police officers did not go there to shoot at them. They went there to know why they were protesting. Why should we shoot at them? They were not violent. They were just very peaceful. And the people sent to that place were police officers with experience,” she added.

Continuing, Nwachinemere said: “This Ruga is a Fulani term. It is a secret plan to occupy indigenous land of our people and that is why we say no. If you want to come to a particular city to do business, you have to liaise with the people
and not to secretly rob them indirectly. No matter what they call this their evil plan, we reject every Islamic agenda.

“The scripture said that God is looking for a man to stand in the gap that the land might be free and that is what we have chosen to do. So, we are saying enough of Fulani Islamic agenda; enough of raping of our women. Enough of killing innocent people without a reason, kidnapping and others,” he added.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has provided evidence showing that there were plans to rig the general election in Abia State

In a tweet on his official Twitter page, the IPOB leader shared a fake result sheet for Abia State, adding that his plan to call off the boycott of the 2019 general election at the 11th hour was responsible for the panic that caused Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to announce a postponement of the election.

He tweeted, “One announcement calling off IPOB boycott late Thursday evening followed by 11th-hour postponement of elections by INEC late on Friday is confirmation of the colossal might of IPOB.

“One simple announcement and their rigging plans fell apart. Fake Abia result sheet now useless,” he added

The concept of "tribe" is just as malleable. Human beings through history have diverged from common roots through migration and splintered and evolved new identities. God did not invent any tribe either. Human civilization over tens of thousands of years evolved ethnic identities.

Many of you religious people need to be a little more intellectually curious about the world you live in. About history. About science. About anthropology. About geography. Burying yourselves in Bible myths of the Jewish people does not educate you about the world you live in. Marriage is different from love, it is an institutional body created to facilitate and propagate life in a meaningful and constructive manner that helps further a societies norms.

Tribes,ethnic groups, religious beliefs, creeds, and the likes are social constructs that also help foster societies which is why they are interlinked in the choice of your marriage partner.

IF they put a black man, a white woman, a jewish man an arab muslim, a catholic Asian etc on a deserted island and left them to their own demise, they would create a brand new race, a brand new culture with brand new systems and a brand new religion that would foster their survival and existence and would " fall in love" with each other as a function of proximity and attraction.

But...

It would seem to me (if we're talking from a spiritual standpoint) that spirituality/religion would transcend culture in a Godly marriage (at least from a Christianity viewpoint).

Yes, there will be some differences and challenges (which are normal); however two people from separate tribes who fundamentally agree within the dictates/doctrines of their religion should be able to peacefully and happily live a fulfilling life on this earth.
To me, inter-tribal "mixed religions" marriages would be the most problematic because of fundamental differences.
Ex. Christianity and Islam have non-negotiable fundamental differences.
Atheism and Christianity (Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism etc) have non-negotiable fundamental differences...and so forth.
But how would a marriage between a Christian Igbo man/woman and Christian Yoruba man/woman be a problem though, if what fundamentally unites them (in one accord) is Christ and His message?
Can't the Christian Yoruba wife learn some of the Christian Igbo husband's customs and vice versa?

God was not against inter-tribal marriages..ex. Moses and Zipporah.
It's a lot more of a society/human thing to stay within one's own "race/group/tribe" cause familiarity is simply more comfortable...(and I understand that).
