xana101: I think uber is stubborn. They are loosing d market daily. I expect them to take back d market from bolt. Bolt keep strategizing to get more drivers to their platform, yet Uber don’t care. If Uber take 20%. Show destination, Increase fare slightly above bolt, I bet u they will take back the market. - No more cancellation fees. for those who drive on deir platform cos of this.
- Destination feature is wack.
- No 3% So wats deir unique selling position. They can keep 25% but to catch more drivers n subsequently more biz, destination disclosure is non negotiable.
Bolt has done it for almost a year now, did their biz drop? No. On d contrary, Bolt revenues have actually peaked, evidenced by the various promos they run. catch any 5 rides n get ₦1400. Who can beat that? The traffic of recent has been so crazy.... You nid to know wat you r getting into. |

Npala: As long as Uber sits in their office as the pretty child and still collects 25% on every trip and drivers can't still see rider destination, they will always play second fiddle to Bolt. With Indriver in the game now, 3rd place sure for them now. Baba your head dey there. Last tym I used Uber app was in January. You can't take 25% n I still won't see where I'm going to. What kind of arrangement is Dat? |

eyinola: My story today i hope i don't appear on Arise news today I notice uber don't give me cancellation fee again I got to pu to pick up this gentle man inside mko garden this morning only to get thr and told me he's taking his 3 dogs to the vet i gently decline and turn back.
Second experience today Pick up this lady from Olasunbo courts oniru going to surulere, on our way i begged her to give me 2 minutes so i can top my fuel cos i don't know what i can meet on the road as per traffic, na so this girl start (young girl in her nysc kaaki) Rider : why can't u tell me before u picked me Me: I am telling u now Rider: u r so rude, u r very stupid infact end the trip Me: ok Rider : is that what u gonna say , u can't beg me Me: mute and the ride , it was a card trip Rider: order new request and it came to me i didn't respond, she try like 4 times before u could get another driver all this while i was buying my fuel and i got another request too Me: please come down here let me go get my new rider Rider: very useless driver, I am not getting down from this car until the new driver arrives Me: zoom down small(shamara) Rider : why r u moving, she open door stretch her leg outside shouting and recording that that i am endangering her life ooooooo, she put the camera on my face , after the whole drama one baba told her to come down, she continue ranting and record my car shouting this is his plate number that i should watch out for the video on social media Few hours later uber mailed me and told me to respond . Escape from Oniru - Sorbibo. You are a movie star now. Assess personality types before asking for request such as buying fuel. Ideally, she has a rite to protest cos it's her time, but if she actually called you a useless driver. Then I'm glad you made her taste part of her uncouth attitude. |

PuZZyNegro: Net earning is calculated for a salary earner as Salary after tax.
Net earning for an Uber driver is money left after commission.
Fuel, recharge card, feeding, etc., although are cost incurred in the course of doing the work, they are not fixed and should not be deducted at the face value in calculating net income.
If you factor these in, then we are looking at what is left as savings.
A worker living at Ikorodu and works at Lekki incurs transportation cost, feeding cost, recharge card, medical bills, etc., yet when you ask him about his net income, he will tell you what the employer hands over to him at the end of the month.
That's the reason the person is working in the first place. To foot these bills.
Whatever is left as savings afterwards is relative to the individual.
This is where variables like the type of car one uses, the place you live, the driving times (surge hours), the risk appetite (very important in this job), etc., come to play to determine the overall take home. Net income is after tax is deducted. Agreed. I'm interested in d take home, cos fuel is an input you expend going forward, in accounting, else, it would amount to double counting, it must be reimbursed back cos it didn't come out from d thin air. So your Net in the Uber/taxify parlance should be
Net income = Gross income - Commission - Fuel used |

hvac: If you were asked your monthly salary you will tell the exact amount( if its 100k, you say it), remember you will not start tell people how much fuel you use to work or how much food you buy from your salary. So the guy made it clear #GROSE. He is not talking about how much the guy would save You come into d discuss wtout knowing wat transpired. Let me give you d background. Godfather said you can make 800k in 8weeks. So that d newbie can add n start a biz to augment income from uber. I said 800k in 8 weeks is not possible. Olayetan came n said its possible with his projections. Then he came back LATER and said his projections were based on gross income,Then I asked him, who projects on gross income? d reason d salary question came out. For instance, if you r asked your salary expectations this week as an Uber driver, will you quote 100k? If yes, then what's d probability of doing 100k in 8 straight weeks.
I put it to olayetan himself, when was d last tym you made 100k /week on Uber
If you can't take home 100k in a week, then 800k in 8 weeks is null and void.
Its pretty straight maths. |

Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by northbird: 8:05am On Oct 24, 2020 |
Crvrider: Simple mathematics shows it is probable if you do roughly 14.5k daily.
7days x 8weeks = 56days 800k / 56days = 14,286
With an app that doesn't collect commission?..maybe. You said mathematics, In real life, how possible is it to drive 56 straight days without a break? |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by northbird: 7:58am On Oct 24, 2020 |
@ olayetan If you were asked for your monthly salary?
Will you add that of your colleagues to it. So y r you quoting gross, who does that?
We r interested only in what you take home.
And I hv not found anyone dt takes home 100k/ week doing Uber.
So 800k in 8 weeks is null and void. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by northbird: 6:57am On Oct 24, 2020 |
Olayetan: I'm not here to argue, I've only stated my point which that 800k is very much feasible as gross earnings within 8weeks.
160k is the commission
You have 640k. Let's say you use 200k fuel, You have 440k left Plus little bonuses you were able to meet up. Lets say roughly 50k bonuses for that 8weeks You have 490k as your net within 8weeks.
How you now minimize your daily and weekly expenses is now left to you to maximize your savings. nobody is interested in gross earnings, we r interested in the actual money you can possibly take home
And that will happen in 8 straight weeks.
You r a damn good analyst. Where did the 50k bonus come from.?
In 8 straight weeks, you won't fix a car you flog 6 days/ week. No car issues. . You better wake up to reality, Uber is a side hustle.
Cos all the projections you made up there is pure dust.
Wait a minute, were you not d same guy that cudnt forgo 2k n had to brave the odds to drive during curfew around 3.30am @ mega chicken ? ,
Infact, you told us you had no shishi on you to square the MIB., that they took your vehicle to d station.
, if ur projections r valid, then you wudnt have had dt experience
D question still stands, how will 800k emerge in 8 weeks. . From a tasking job such as driving around Lagos. ? |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by northbird: 11:27pm On Oct 23, 2020 |
Olayetan: I think he's talking about gross earnings which is very much possible if you do full week.
That's 100k weekly as gross and multiply by 8weeks... What Gross? Nobody is interested in gross, We shdnt deceive ourselves, why double counting, out of d supposed projection, remove 20% commission, remove fuel ( possibly another 20%), so where will 800k come from after 8 weeks. A biz you can't predict outcomes, who saw d curfew coming this week..or perhaps, the 5 weeks of Corona... Who can drop 30k this week.? Should one count chickens before dey hatch? |

Godfather10: MY OGA,Ndubuis How long have you been driving for UBER, not many jobs today pays you the kind of money you make from UBER, friend of mine makes btw N80k and N120k monthly. Nov/ Dec with hard work you can make 800k in two months and start a side business to add to your UBER business, Be Prayerful, focussed and positive and take time to relax. 80-120 is not impressive if you consider the amount of time and resources you put into it. 800k did you get that in movies or wat. Why do you people project unrealistic revenues, From driving, you will save 800k in 8weeks, how? Even a Resident doctor won't save 800k in 8 weeks. Stop it. Ndubuis gave d dude d best advise. |
