we got issues with Tanzanians on other issues but on the music part Tanzanian music is awesome no lie.. an am a Kenyan ( grin grin grin grin grin)
Ok. I also think Kenya got some great musicians too, just that TZ musicians seem to be more and they seem to have a very unique flavour in their music that one cannot just explain.

So, why dont u want to say your ethnic group?

It's a very complicated and emotional issue.
Yes, many South-easternerns feel other Nigerians are dragging them backwards. They may be right or wrong about it.
For me, i think they are right and wrong at the same time.

Seriously Nowenuse you know my nationality..Kenyan
Ok, i tot u were Ghanaian because of your comment about that TZ song being in swahili. Don't u speak swahili?

I have also observed from my interraction with most Kenyans here that they do not like other people commending and admiring Tanzaninas over the beauty of their swahili tongue and music industry.

Seems like u are very different in that regard.

Are u kikuyu, luo, luhya or ?

The first wave of Algerian emigration in France was workers migrants for the french buildings and factories ,in the mines ect .. , Cheap labor without rights , be crammed into shantytowns , and then during the world war there were Algerian recruits used as cannon fodder against the Nazis and migrants workers after to rebuilt french economy !

and yes their was few algerians intelectuals educated in french schools to work in french instutitions . many of them lead the algerian politic revolution of indepndancy ! But compared to the Algerian population 85% was illiterate in indépendancy !
Hmm, quite bitter history there. Did Tunisians and Moroccans also suffer same fate in the hands of the french? Then i commend your people for making so much progress.

Why do many present day Algerians look so much like Europeans compared to Tunisians and Moroccans (my personal observation though, i may be wrong)? It is said there was strong interracial mixing during the colonial period? Is it true?

Nigerian poverty is very relative just as my fellow compatriot explained. It may be true that poverty levels rose due to the economic recession and boko haram insurgency, but it cannot be more than 35%. No it can't. Plus the middle class population of Nigeria is continually on the rise. This is why Nigerian per capital income is still quite high.

Breaking up Nigeria will have more disadvantages, because it will lead to human disaster. There can never be a peaceful break-up of Nigeria. The whole of Africa will be flooded with refugees because nobody knows how many parts the country will divide into. Nigerians, just like most Africans are not yet educated and civilized enough for a peaceful break-up

It's a Tanzanian song. Tanzanians are very wonderful and talented musicians. They seem to be dominating East African music industry for now.
This song was numb 1 in the entire East Africa for many months back!

ghanian pidgin is still under development. they are borrowing nigeria slangs , words and some part of their native language. the illitrate speak poor pidgin. you will only like it when an educated youth speak pidgin than the illiterate.most of the ghanian old educated men does not even understand it.
Ok. I thought as much.

clear advantage are you serious ? do you know that half of all algerian population was killed in only the first 42 years of invasion (1830-1872) , and millions after , it was a genocide . an Ethnic cleansing , algerians were not consider as humans and had not the french nationality and no rights . Algeria was not a colony but a French department of France thats why they try to clean it from indigenes.

the few infrastucture built by french were for french and europeens colons! for exemple schools ! illiteracy of algerians population was 85 % in 1962 ( independancy) now days its only 11%
Hmm, really?
I knew of the genocide during the invasion. But once the french started ruling, were the educated and franconized Algerians not allowed in the developed areas?

How come many Algerians became citizens of France decades ago? I thought your people were allowed in and out of France since Algerians now had french citizenship?

I heard that during the Algerian revolution, that many Algerian educated and franconized population also fled to France along with the French?

hausa is an imported language into ghanian society. it is not recognized officially in schools. however the language is growing day by day due to the extended family of the muslim. it may even suprise you to know that majority of those who speak hausa are not real indigineous hausa. they are kotokoli a tribe from togo ,zambaruma a tribe in nigeria and mostly in niger republic, zugu a tribe in northern benin republic .even yoruba muslim in ghana speak hausa as their second language. this hausa language may be consider broken and fun to nigeria native hausa speaker.

most of the hausa youth in ghana are very aggresive. they are more like ajegunle boys in nigeria. the use of the language is associated with thugs , robbery and bold mind.

nonethless some hausa speaker are educated. this are the people who speak hausa and miss it with english.

the most common language in ghana is twi . spoken as the first language of more than 75. percent people. accra native language is inkrai. but it is not as powerful like twi in accra ,just the way hausa dominate abuja instead of gbari language
Yes i think i am aware of this.

Hausa in Ghana is more like a language for muslims. Like the lingua franca of all muslim tribes. This is almost the same case in northern and central Cameroon.

Believe me as a hausa speaker, i have met many Hausa speaking Ghanaians and it is very clear that most of them speak it as a 2nd language from their intonation.
I really wonder how Hausa came to penetrate Ghana more, without penetrating Togo and Benin republic as such. A Ghanaian once told me that it was because of islam.

I never knew hausa was so entrenched in Ghana until i started coming across Hausa Ghana movies. I also noticed that some adverts in GH were done in hausa..

Seriously, if not for the illiteracy and backwardness of native Hausas, Hausa would have been the most spoken language in Africa by now. Cos it would have spread farther by now.

Just for the records, Gbari is a dialect or subgroup of Gbagyi (the major ethnic group of FCT and Abuja), but Gbaris are mostly found in Niger state. Gbagyi is the general and official ethnic name (corrupted as GWARI by the hausas).
Gbagyis are middlebelters and most middlebelters (except Benue-Kogi people) adopted Hausa as a 2nd language.

This is my own favourite Kenyan music below.
Kenya has some very good club singers. They just don't have the large market for their musics.
This song is now numb 3 on the Kenyan countdown.

the ivorians are loving and welcoming people. they love stranger a lot. for instance yoruba are now occupying official position. igbo are selling landed property. it is another home for hausa.despite this hospitality there is still some stubborn people among them who hate strangers. the fula for example.

frafra is a tribe that can be found in upper east region in ghana and few in burkina faso.hope this answer your question.
Hmm, ok i see.
it really seems like these settlers in Ivory coast especially those from Mali and Burkina faso are the ones dragging Ivory coast backwards, cos it seems like most of the original Ivorians are very educated and progressive people, but you wonder why Ivory coast is not doing so well in human and other indexes.

South west got nice place excluding Lagos

AKURE
I've been to Akure and i say Kudos to the governor. He is doing a great job. Parts of Abeokuta also look very cool, but these are probably this way because they are administrative capital cities.
Yorubas have many towns in their states aside the capital cities.

The thing is, many Yorubas do not build modern houses in their hometowns, unlike the Igbos. Almost every succesful Igbo man must have a very beautiful mansion in his village. This has made the Igbo countryside the most beautiful and advanced in Nigeria (except for Ebonyi and parts of Abia states).

Although i think this development of Igbos is somehow a function of their culture and society.
This is a culture i think all Nigerians should emulate from the Igbos. Nothing as beautiful as seeing the development of the countryside of a place, especially in Africa.

I would say Twi, Fante,Ewe,Hausa,GA,Bono . Among all of them, most people consider Hausa to be the most aggressive. In every arguments, once you start speaking Hausa Everyone knows what's next
LoL ok.

Do most Ghanaians speak pidgin? Cos i see Ghanaians speaking it well in movies and musics.
Is it a lingua franca in GH?
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Nowenuse: 8:25pm On May 06, 2017
Just30:
no I don't speak Hausa because it's aggressive and it's mostly spoken in zongo communities. I also missed the opportunity to learn the language in secondary school and that was the end . There are no statistics yet to gauge the popularity of the language but I can say it's popular in Accra
Hmm ok

Hausa is not agressive i disagree, it's depending on tje speakers. Besides, most Ghanaian Hausa speakers i've met spoke very simplified Hausa just like what those of us in Central Nigeria speak, not like those native speakers in Core-northern nigera.

But which tribal language would you say is the most dominant in GH or most spoken?
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Nowenuse: 8:11pm On May 06, 2017
Just30:
since everyone almost speaks the same language, its been difficult to hide stuffs underneath the clouds of language hence Hausa. Hausa has become a much more needful language because, you can travel anywhere up north with the language and you won't be in need. Why? It's easy to learn, speak and understand unlike French
So, do you speak Hausa?

What percentage of Ghanaians can you say speak Hausa?

Is Hausa growing as a lingua franca in Ghana or declining?

you are not absolutely right. akan tribe itself spread to mordan day ivory coast. before the arrival of the colonial master ashanti kings use to collect some levy from ivorian villages and till date some of them pay him respect.

my grandpa told me how he is cocoa farm was streched from doma inkrom in brong ahafo region to some vilage ivory coast.and that is not official border tilll date. ivorians and ghanians are just one people. the official border to ivory coast from ghana is elubo.

ivorians themselves are not that much. majority of what constitute ivory coast are frafra people from mali the fula, upper ghana the frafra , the fanti, the burkinabe , the zambaruma and lastly a very large yoruba community from ejigbo. these people have become ivorians by naturalization.

another interesting thing to note is that ivorians eat almost the food with tha akans if ghana. from fufu to banku and so on.
Yes u are right.
However i never disputed the ethnic similarities btw Ghanaians and Ivorians m, i only disputed the looks. But it seems like you have a strong point because i have also read it somewhere that almost half of present day Ivorians actually migrated from neighbouring countries and are now claiming Ivorian identity. Probably the reason why they now look quite different.

But it seems like the original Ivorians are very united and at peace with the settlers. Or do they discriminate themselves? Do you know anything about their relationship?

Pls, who are the frafra? I've never heard that name, is it a nick name for an ethnic group?
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Nowenuse: 8:01pm On May 06, 2017
Just30:
There are 75 ethnic groups in Ghana
Each has it own unique Language
The Akans are a combination of several groups with the same culture and traditions with some similarities in Languages.
Among the Akans, there are various dominant Languages like TWI,FANTE,NZEMA and AHANTA, SEFWI, BONO, and etc
MOST musicians in Ghana sing in either of these four languages FANTE,TWI, GA, or EWE
Ok thanks.

It seems like many Ghanaians speak Hausa as a 2nd language or lingua franca from what i have observed.

Are these mostly the muslim Ghanaians from the northern regions? Many Nigerians think that there are many indigenous Hausas in Ghana, but i think otherwise. Can you pls clear this doubt for me?
PoliticsRe: Ibadan Land Of Brown Roofs; Glory Of The Grey Haired by Nowenuse: 7:55pm On May 06, 2017
I am not an Igbo (and those who doubt me can check my profile topics to confirm).

From my humble perspective, i think most yorubas have truly abandoned their home towns and villages and now focus only on Lagos.
It is very sad. I observed that most yorubas now claim Lagos as their state of origin, whereas they come from other yoruba states.
Not until i encountered some yorubas in Lagos that i knew that there are many yoruba adults and teenagers who have never been to their hometowns and don't know the road to their villages.

Whereas it is cool for yorubas to invest in Lagos and take pride in it, it would continue to be very embarrassing seeing the same very developed Lagos side by side with terrible looking hinterland yoruba towns and villages. It will continue to remain very shameful and an eye sore.
PoliticsRe: Igbo, Yoruba Causing Hausa/fulani Dominance - Fani-kayode. by Nowenuse: 6:18pm On May 06, 2017
Yoruba/Igbo unity can never work because of yoruba muslims who are very eager to please Hausa-fulanis, and will always be ready to betray the alliance.

its good to hear Ghanaians and Ivorians see each other as family. You guys look alot like each other. The french/english thing is just plain foolish to divide yourselves, especially since the two countries share alot of ethnicities. You should avoid the stupidity Biya is doing in Cameroon against the "anglophones". In kenya, i take ugandans the same way, i see them as brothers since we share names and ethnicities with them.
French/English divide can never really be overcomed in Africa (especially West Africa), unless all west Africans become billingual in English and French and it seems like most of us are not interested and Ecowas is not doing much about it.

Personally i don't think Ghanaians and Ivorians look alike. I can easily tell them apart.
(Sorry if i sound colorist or offensive to anyone), but i think Ghanaians are more dark-skinned than Ivorians.
Ivorians (women especially) seem to have more of this Senegambian look similar with west African fulanis.

Ivorians and Ghanaians may be of similar ethnic stocks, but it seems like many Ivorians have maternal origins with Senegambian tribes like fulanis, there must have been a lot of ethnic mixing or intermarriage between Akan men and Senegambian women there.

Ghanaian women also tend to be very much more curvatious and voluptious than Ivorian women cheesy

Well, maybe it's because our movie industry is the most advanced on the continent.
