Onochie anya Nnia! |
Ewo,Obiajulu bu afa my one time crush.Nwanne my classmate Chidinma.hahahaaa. Nri,thanks for providing the meaning of "Emordi",i have been asking around for it from people at home. Nri or anyone else, can you provide me the meaning of the following names: Aniegboka=The land has done alot. Nwabufo=A child is a consoler. Nkolika=dialogue is greater. Ziemife=teach me/show me light. Kwentoh=allow me to give the praise. Iwenofu=short tempered. Ify, these are very thoughtful names....please dont fail to post more and i will help with translation if i'm familiar with the name. |
ifyalways: Nri priest, I used onitsha and anambra generally because I have never heard those names outside of both places. . . And I've travelled extensively in igboland. However that does not mean I'm claiming those names are limited to onitsha people.Inwero ugba! More names... Igweora=universal king. Ubagu=desring riches. Obiajulu=I am relieved/my heart don coolee. chidoluo=my God fufill the peace. Emordi=lasting accomplishment. Okwuadinka=words are not perfect. Obienu=heavely soul/heart/mind. Anambra axis. |
Chinwuba=wealth belongs to God. Chukwuanu=God has heard. Ezeluo=when the king arrives. Akpaniteaku=when wealth grows. Offordile=A powerul staff. Ezelagbo=one who inherites a certain lineage. Representing Idenmili axis Igbo! |
Nnenna1: ^^It seems the opposite in a lot of places. Quite a few African Americans are quick to drop "African" from their identity and roll along with being just American Blacks. You are a SAGE ! |
Nebeuwa: The term is African American. I do not know when Black American came into the lexicon, but most blacks in the United States prefer the term African American. And I am very proud to be half African American, since I was born to a Nigerian father and an African American mother. My people have accomplished a lot in the United States even though they were faced with a lot of adversity. Please speak for yourself alone! The majority of educated Black American frown at the "African American" term. . .They dont feel connected to their African root which is reasonable and widely common amognst them. And one thing I have noticed amongst them is that they bash Africans whenever its convenient and claim Africas greatness when it suits them! But its cool. |
Charles Chukwuma Soludo and Gov. Aliyu Babangida of Niger state. Rochas Okorocha and Salisu Lamido Sallisu. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and Fashola of Lagos. Pat Utomi and Nasir El-rufai. Any of this pairs work for Nwa Nri. |
After some numb nuts will come over here to degrade the black America! Black Americans are the ones holding the touch for the black world today!! |
THere is nothing like onicha names nor Anambra names! You could sa Onicha axis but not Onicha names, unless if you have names which arent those you posted and are also not Anambra axis names. . .all the names you posted as Onichas are also ancient in most Anambra,Enugu,Delta and even northern Imo state! |
ifyalways: Ogbogu=the mediator,he brought peace.(Onitsha and delta)Firstly,Ify I will like to know what you mean by "Onicha and Anambra" ? Secondly, those names you tagged onicha names is very untrue! I dont know where you got your onicha education but whoever that is feeding you with those infos is gravely wrong. I am still waiting for the day an onicha person will come here and have a thorough with me! |
Goldieluks: Animal!A whole Oba did a thing like this ? I swear to almighty God if you do such thing to my blood sister I will end the existence of your manhood! MODERATOR, WE NEED THIS ON THE FRONT PAGE ASAP! JUST LIKE YOU GUYS HAD THE ABSU INCIDENT ON FRONT PAGE! |
dubem3: sorry can you break down omambala to the individual words that equal 'a river on our land'.Ok, I see what you meant and I could be wrong but not far from the real meaning but I think you should also correct me if what I had up there is wrong. But this is how I arrive to the meaning I gave; "nbala" means wide land/open land/farming place. . .nbala could be defined as just a piece of land but its has to do with a very wide/broad/huge/large amount of land. . .Then "oma/omo" means water in some parts of Anambra, especially the northern and central Anambra. Hence my definition. You can also say Omanbala means "the river in a farming land". If anybody have anything different let them post! |
Tropilo: IBUSA in Oshimili North of Delta means: Ibu uzor:- You're d first to inhabit. But legend has it that the name was and spelt IGBOZOR: meaning Igbo road/way. Some say it was IGBO BI NA UZOR. Nawa! We dont know again so we hv left it like that as IBUSA.Asi ka isili! I will advice you to go to your true elders and ask them what "Igbuzor","Ibussa","Ibuzor" means because most Igbos here know what it means. |
Dude, are you f.ucking kidding or is your head deep in your aarse ? |
Da infamous: priest it is very important for anambra people to hold it for now even thou OP have some serious complexity about omambara people-shows his back ground sound like some one that lacked a lot as a childDa infamous,if you pay attention you will find out that most Anambra people who commented here didnt tow the Ops line but same cant be said about some of our brother states! |
Onlytruth: Well, please make my day! BTW you have ZERO respect for Anambra state and Anambra citizens here on Nairaland. Many of us have asked you to desist from your ways, but you ignore us all. I have personally used EVERY SANE method and strategy known to man to talk to you about your wild ways, but you just never listen. If the issue under discourse has nothing to do with me or my home state, you would never see me trying to cajole you into sanity.Ezeigbo,e kenelum gi rinne. But we also have to understand that Chino wasnt the first person here to throw punch! Multiple times I have seen our fellow Igbos insulting Anambra Igbos but we will never fight back but as soon as Anambra folks start to eulogise themselves some people will actually find it offensive! We must no throw away the child with the bad water! Chino is our blood and we must treat him as so ! |
chino11: You have started throwing your weight around again, I think this Eze-ship is causing more harm than good. What is that supposed to mean? Have you asked the op why he has to call my name at the inception of this thread? Have you bothered to query that, instead you are endorsing what you do not know. What do you know about endorsement, this is not national assembly? I respect my fellow NLders more especially my Anambra brothers/sisters, but if we cannot get on well here we had better become something else.Chino nwanne, biko dont find what the Ezeigbo said to be offensive but as a way to prevent unnescessary animosity between brothers. You are a true son of your father and Anambra love you too just like you love her. I dont see anything wrong in defending your state but we must not forget that na "ofu onye sielu ora nni fa elisia ya mana ora sielu of onye oma elisi nni afu". Lets keep calm and act like we dont know how some people feel about us. I chose not to discuss somethings here just because of what people might say regarding my state of origin. Hapu fa maka na ubosi nta ayi ga achu na owelle nchi. |
Kc3000: Dude, shut it with the empty threats cos you can't do Poo. I've seen a lot of your posts, and while I do not doubt your Igbo pedigree or your efforts in Igbo history, I've also noticed a pattern that necessitated my earlier post. I do not care to dig through your posts, but if my assessment is right, as I believe it is, you would make some more unflattering statements about Non-Anambra Igbos again in the future.I am familiar with that crumb you pinched off of the whole post I posted the day I had that conversation with CHINENYEN! To show how bigoted you are you ignored the very disturbing comments made by your fellow Ngwa brother! Akuko Naija ! I admit I made the comments but it was in a totally different context. . .ChininyeN,your Ngwa brother insulted the whole IGBO nation on that very day just like most of you Ngwas do,hence my harsh response. Yet,you havent proven how I am an instigator amongst Igbos! Its not in my character to instill disunity hence my shock at this guys accusations. Most Anambra doesnt boast unless provoked. . .Go to the thread Abagworo opened sometime ago about an issue related to this and see my stance. . .You should be very careful about how you accuse ppl. |
Kojiek: Names from Ikwerre area:I didnt know Ikwerre uses "offor",but they pronounce it differently! Very interesting indeed. |
Kc3000: Ummm, I see nothing wrong with some healthy competition, comparison or rivalry every now and then. Maybe all the tribal mudslinging here on NL has made people squeamish about such discussions. If these types of healthy comparisons would inspire our people to do better, I'm all for it. I see nothing wrong with what most people have said, with the exception of a few goons like chino11 and Nri-priest, whom are usually the instigators of any "Anambra is more Igbo than thou" fracas. I'm not surprised that they would resort to their uncouth ways here.Look mr man let me give you a serious warning! Next time you paint my name in a bad light you will start seeing me as the most evil person here! When have i ever pride my self nor Anambra people as "more Igbo than others" ? I want you to instantly quote where i have ever sided with such ridiculous claim! Do not start what you cant finish ! Abagworo and Alh harem made such accusations against me in the past and i challenged them present facts but they ran away! I am a die hard Igbo and the constant Igbo posters here knows that very well! Infact, wether good or bad stay the f.uck away from me ! |
Abagworo: I'm glad we've been able to learn more than we thought about the two sister States without much fracas. To all who contributed one way or the other I say "meka ni", "Ndewo ni". The result of the comparison is clear and I'm off this thread permanently. What exactly did you learn from this your diick measuring contest of a thread ? As far as am concerned i didnt learn jack! |
afam4eva: You've just proven that you don't have anything upstairs. Instead of you to accept your mistake you're putting a ring on your ignorance. How's a Power Holding Company of Nigeria's problem that of Enugu state? What has it got to do with the development of Enugu state? You kids just crack me up.Am very sure am not the one you are reffering to as "kids" ! When its time for you to bash Gov. Obi you will throw caution out of the window but now you are quick to call me "ignorant"! I just want you to remenber this little conversation when next you miss ur dose! |
freecocoa: I've not begged any man on my knees before for anything and i'm not planning to but like they say"never say never".I have seen your eyes before and its say "if you show me mad love i will not only knee and beg but will crawl too". |
Anambra was a british murder of the original name of the great river "Omanbala" which is the most important feeder of the river niger below lokoja. Basicly,Omanbala means= A river on our land |
afam4eva: What's this talk about. We're talking about the nationally renowned PHCN(Nepa) and you're talking about how it discredits Enugu as if it's not the same all over the country. Are state government now responsible for suplying power? Were you maasturbating when you wrote this? Jeez.If you want to crack jokes you can go ahead; just stop talking rubbish about Obi and pay more attention to your state. Who knows if you are one of those political jobbers.[sup][/sup] |
Aba is and has always been the greatest and largest city in Igboland. It is also the most historically significant of all the commercial cities. It has the largest metropolitan area which even spills over to Okigwe LGA of Imo state. The only problem is that the city (as well as the state as a whole) is currently burdened with a dunce as a governor. Simple. It's only on Nairaland that I've EVER heard of this Onitsha-Awka-Nnewi fairytale and about how Anambra "feeds and sets the pace economically for Alaigbo". I'm like, "Hellooooo!?", this is a state that doesn't even have an airport; doesn't even have a reputable state university (ANSU is a freaking midget when compared to ABSU); doesn't even have a reputable federal university (UniZik is an artisan kiosk when pitted against Imo's FUTO or Enugu's UNN); this is a state that ranks to nothing when it comes to Polytechnics (Imo's Poly Nekede scatters it); as at the time powerful city masterplans were being designed for Owerri, Aba and Umuahia, Chino's daddy couldn't even afford a cheap hotel room to phuck his mum and sire him, these guys had to sit on their butts and wait for the UN to design a city plan for them (Chineke mekwaara mmadu ebere o!); and yet I wonder exactly what all the Onitsha boasts are about. SMH. Only on Nairaland
Is it nescessary to bring his parents into this ? Abagworro, you need to drop all this your attitudes towards Ndi-Anambra! I dont know what Anambra did to you. You are always attacking us and our state but most of us has remained calm in the face of provocations! |
Haaa! Already advertising yourself, shebi? ![]() @Topic: Oya, make that lying coward Chino try posting satellite pinshurrrs of his Awka or Onitsha, and make we look whether we no go burst laugh ![]() "Aba-Ngwa" anyday, jare!!
My friend you need to calm down! It wont be fair to compare both cities because Onicha is light years ahead of Aba! |
afam4eva: That's my area. They should keep protesting and hope the power issue gets resolved. So,its your area ? Am surprised you never discussed it but its easy for you to come here and start criticizing Obi as a slow Governor! I will advice some people to remove the log in their eyes before looking for a speck in another persons eyes! Only Enugu city is developed in all Enugu state! |
Hmm...something strange must have happened, or an active force working to make it look like the head (Aba) is in fact the tail. There is something funny about internal Igbo dynamics that I don't quite understand.
i have been avoiding this thread for a reason; we all know Abagworo has complexes and is intimidated by Anambra Igbos ! this isnt the first time this fool will create unnescessary discussion that will create animosity between brothers! And for you EKT BEAR,this has always been what you yoruba tribalists want but unfortunately Abagworo is too dumb to figure it out. there is no basis for comparing the two states. |
ismhab: Where did he get the money to build this kind of villa or is he into cult.ehm, while you or your brothers are up north killing and drinking peoples blood some people are actually doing something meaninful with their life. . .Lazy mudafukars like you are the who will never know when the last bus left the station! Nonso is a big bou. . .No hating but show love and respect to Ovieigbo. |
shymmex: @NRI PRIESTA character of certain peeps. . . you know who am talking about! |

. Although you can find African Americans who take pride in their African heritage. Like yourself -seeing as you have a an AA mother and Nigerian dad you're more likely to find such AA's in your circle.
The issue affect me personally as nwa Anambra state. So, I have a standing to ask you to desist!
Heed your own advice and just stay the fuc.k away from me too!!!!!
. Umunnem, let's stay positive in these discussions....although I suspect that too much time spent bickering on NL has impacted unnecessary hostility on some of our brethren. Chai!!!
