I didnt even pay attention to that..lol
For the records; all the names posted by "NRI PRIEST" are all traditional/precolonial names from Idenmili/Umuoji axis of the Igbo dialects.

patriot2: No the igbos have Obi while the yorubas have Oba, although it's pretty much the same, and the languages look alike.
Say what you know, smarty pant! How many Igbo kings use the "Obi" title ? Igbos originally had "Ezeani" as the kings title before some Anioma Igbos adopted the "Obiship". Of all the SE Igbo kings, only Onicha and Nsugbe use "Obi" and I dont think Nsugbe still does.Though most Aniomas use the Obi title.

ChinenyeN: I've never heard of Odinani before. Is that supposed to be Omelala?
yes,Odinani is same as Omenala/Omenani. No difference. Odinani was the Nri/Awka version.
In some parts of Nigeria, you are only allowed to walk into a room where someone died, backwards. This is supposed to give the spirits hovering in the room ample time to vanish (or something like that). Violators risk getting slapped by an angry spirit.

Funeral + Coronation In Idoma land, the king (Och'Idoma) is not meant to be mourned when he dies so his funeral is held at the sametime as his coronation.
In Anambra some masqurade do that when a strong herbalist dies.
PoliticsRe: Anambra Vs Abia. Which Is More Organized? by NRIPRIEST(m): 9:17pm On Mar 18, 2012
EzeUche: How many times have I seen Igbos on Nairaland paint Abia as hell on Earth?

Their hatred for T.A. Orji automatically made them to think negatively about Abia.

Now that we have proof that Abia is continuing to progress, and many of the Anambra Igbos on Nairaland who spoke ill about Abia want to ignore this thread. It just shows that you can't believe everything on the internet. Seeing is believing so if you have pictures to prove otherwise about Anambra. Then show us.
Abagworo is very sick for openning this dumb thread. . . nwanne, ogu adiro ebe aga anu ya.
where will this lead us to ?
This dude this not open this thread to make any positive contribution but he opened it just to compare the two. . .The ma ABAGWORO is full of complexes!!

This is actually my first time of hearing "Onuora" and "Olisaemeka" is exclusive to Onicha and Delta regions; Anyways, for record purposes the two namea are used very commonly amongst Enugu,Anambra,Imo,Ebonyi and Anioma.

I am sure when you said "Obiangeriaku" is Mbaise I know you mean the pronouciation and the spelling and not the actual name. Becase, Obiageliaku(Anambra/Enugu)/Obiangeriaku(Mbaise) is a widely known ancient Igbo female name with a good meaning and its still being used up till date.
Akuchie= when wealth crowns.
Ozobia= well, this could mean two things depending on who is naming. It could mean; "may another come" or "born into Ozo family/Ozo has arrived".
Mmadufo=may one live.
CultureRe: A Database Of Traditional Igbo Names by NRIPRIEST(m): 8:14pm On Mar 18, 2012
KenGali: Interesting thread, for me am writing down the names I have not been able to figure out there meaning, hoping someone might supply it:
1. Iromaka
2. Otubelu
3. Ehe-ye: this is really not a name, but a pet name for mothers. Every one called my late grandmother by that but none of them could tell me the meaning. I think the expression is from Nanka.
4. Mgbeke - I know "eke" but not the "mgbe", or could it simply mean time?
5. Apakata
6. Ezeudu
7. Ezeanaka

Then my most favourite female Igbo name:
"Mmasinachi" - this Beauty from God. Do not give a girl this name if she is not extremely beautiful, else!

@ NRI Priest
Ikemba means "the Strength of a Nation or People"
Ikemba can also mean "fame in a foreign land.
Mmasinachi is a very cool name for a girl and I will keep it in mind.
Otube is a short form of "otubelu na anya nnia". my mother said that its some howhow disrespectful to bear the name while your father is still alive! In actual sense it mean"one who achieved greatness before the watchful eyes of his father". It actually an "OZO" name mostly given to wealthy people when they take the Ozo title. I know a man from Okodu who bears it and he gat some maddt dough."Ezeanaka" is actually another Ozo name and so is "Ezeudu".
Most of the names you posted are actually Ozo title names.

Rangers of Enugu remain at the NPL summit after they decimated their week 12 opponent, Lobi stars. The coal city in-form striker Chikeluba Ofoedu opened the flood gate of goals as eagles enterprising winger doubled it. New signings from Warri wolves Yarhere and Oghogho also put their names on the score sheet.

You had knowledge of the Nri week days but you dont know where it originated from nor how it was formed !! Nri influence was very wide in Igboland and some people dont know how some traditions which they have adopted developed! I am not here to force anything on anybody but we must give respect to whom it belongs to. ChinenyeN,the Igbo week days that Ngwa use today where do they originated from ? You adopted something significant as days of the week from somebody yet you said they dont have influence on you ! You name your children partly with the names of the days of the week which originated from Nri yet you said NO influnce! I think you should bear in mind that the "mburuchis" did not travel every part of Igbo land; A lot of time they will travel so far to set-up shrines and ordain new priests who will in turn carry the rituals missionary along. My point is that Nri mburuchis may not be the one that set-up your markets in Ngwa but somehow they learnt the practice from their neighbors who followed Nri traditions. I know you will never accept because of what it will do to your little ego.
CultureRe: A Summary Of Southern Nigeria From 900 Ce To 1900 Ce (in Maps) by NRIPRIEST(m): 12:36pm On Mar 14, 2012
I didnt believe the Nri (mburuchis) traveled down to Ngwa land in the precolonial era to set up some of these markets,as you rightly admitted that indeed Ngwa do have ekhe, orie, afor na nkwor market days and names of the week. influence doest have to be direct. yes,the interactions might be very minimal but its obvious ! By the way try and answer Ify's question.

Ok,Ngwa do not use "okos" in their naming, but do they bear names with eke, oye, afor, nkwo market days as suffixs or preffixs in their names ? If feel like you are trying so hard at to NOT see the obvious influence of Nri hegemony, than to do more study on it and be more convinced. Relatively,in my town we have nwankwos, nwekes, nwoyes too,not every body bears "okos". You need to calm down nwanne, inugo ? We are all Igbos, at the end of the day na we go still gat your back.
