Just40: So you've not provided a housing solution hence why the slums keep springing up everywhere.
And their social economics is bad because of the monopolies in your country, hence people have no real participation in economic activities to generate income.
Just40: if you can't provide the electricity required, that take off will be a mirage.
The time to start is now cause it takes 3 years to build any decent power station
For you to claim that it's not enough you must back it up with verifiable data showing demand and supply otherwise this is what we call verbal diarrhea.
Every land in Kenya is a habitable area if you develop it. You don't have a low urbanization because your land aridity, you have a low urbanization because of your failure to actually spread development to create proper urban centers that engender sustainable economic activity.
You are just on the same level with Rwanda.
Let's talk about planning, Ghana is well planned than your country hence why only 23% of people live in slums in Ghana. Every district in Ghana has it own building code and layout planning hence why slums don't just spring up here.
Can you say same for your country?
Kenya also has a building code in every county...slums built are basically illegal structures built on govt reserve lands .Eg according to planning by laws in Nairobi there should be 30 meter reserve land near all riparian bodies like rivers that's why all major slums are along river banks.
Largest population corhot in Kenya is between 10 to 14 yr old. This means that in the next 10 yrs they will be joining the productive workforce Kenya is on the verge of an economic takeoff if not revolution.
Just40: Electricity - about 15% of the national population. Use of electricity in urban areas as the source of lighting - 42%; although kerosene lamps still remain the main source of lighting for 55% of households. Kerosene for lighting in rural households - 87%
In this modern age, yet 58% of Kenya urban population have to rely on Kerosene lamps for lighting their homes.. Really Really?
Why will you guys be so backward like this?
Kenya's access to electricity stands at 71percent. Highest in East Africa if not Africa
Just40: Kenya installed capacity is 2038mw and peak demand is 1800mw ... There's nothing self sufficient about energy consumption in a presumably growing economy. Unless your economy is not growing, you energy consumption must go up...
As we speak, your country is currently shedding load because 1800mw is not enough for 56 million people
2022 reports from kengen state otherwise.. talking of self sustaining we long transitioned from Hydro Energy to geothermal energy. We are now among the biggest geothermal energy producers . Basically we can just sink more wells corresponding with our energy demands. No need for expensive Dams as long as the the molten earth crust exist.
NTSA: Kenya's energy demands are self-sufficient and self sustaining with an installed capacity of 2984 megawatts and a pick demand of not more than 2051 megawatts.... blackouts are so rare that when it happens it's National News and senior people at the electric company get charged for economic sabotage.
Kplc even operates helicopters for live powerline Maintenance
Just40: keep making excuses for your country darkness

Just40: Well your country run millions of ACs daily, far outstripping Ghana. Fortunately AC is not the reason why Ghana has a higher consumption than you guys... It's just the fact that Ghana remain highly developed than your country
Just40: Except Egypt and India are not only behind Ghana in urbanization but takes the lead in so many field of development, above Ghana... Unfortunately we can't say same for your skeletal lunatic country where people are even selling their wives for water.
With your country current debt mess, you'll be lucky to even have a country try to call your own if Ghana does not give you the assistance we are currently giving you.
Only stupid fools from Kenya will even dream of comparing that back water that can't even compare to Ghana socially let alone in infrastructure.
Fool what can you country match Ghana in?
Ghana has 45,000km of paved roads, your backward country barely has 20,000km.. after over 50 years of castrated independence.
An ordinary Ghanaian consumes almost 6 times the electricity that a Kenyan will consume.
While Ghana is consuming 4000mw of your country with twice the population is only consuming 1800mw...
Do you know how backward you have to be to consume just 1800mw of electricity?
Upon all of this, what is more sad is the fact that 56 million Kenyans can only consume half the volume of water that 32 million Ghanaians consume.
Shut your shameful self up and go and take a bath... You stinking castrated backward pig from a dirty country.
Can you also verify on 45,000paved roads ...coz It is estimated that Ghana has about 67,291 km of road network today. Of this, 12,785 km are trunk roads, 42,394 km are feeder roads and 12,112 km are urban roads. 83% of trunk roads, 36% of urban roads and 72% of feeder roads are considered being in either good or fair condition.
theenchanter: it would've been better if shma had said this in response to the urbanization discussion instead of his useless deflections.
Another factor is land use policy.Once you own land in Kenya you own it for generations if not a lifetime even if the govt wants to put up a project it can only buy it from you at the current market value..no one is going to leave his 5 acre farm to go leave in the city....After retirement most people will tend to go back to their ancestral lands which is in contrast with other countries where land is owned by the government and is leased for some years or land is owned by chiefs , community etc.
An average kenyan just use electricity for lighting at night .A few 50 watt bulbs per household while Ghana uses electricity to run several 1000 watts AC both day and night.

2021 report Ghana's system peak demand grew at a 4.6% annual rate from 1,161 MW to 2,804 MW.
Just40: Basically Kenya is just a slumpolis and an undeveloped village hence why it is not urbanized like it should.
Egypt urbanization is below Ghana because it development is not reaching every part of it massive country and population. Also because of it difficult terrain
As for Kenya, it can't even develop beyond a tiny part of Nairobi and no wonder it remain a village. Tvs Just drive 2km out of Westland and Parkland and you're already in a dusty roadless slummy villages not electrified.
No wonder goblacktoAfrica couldn't stay in backward Kenya and had to run back to Ghana.
theenchanter: urbanization rate of Egypt is over 40%.... It's quite understandable because people reside in less than 10% of it's total area while majority of it's landmass is unhabitable.
JamaicanRum: Tanzania is a really nice country compared to some of the countries I visited in West Africa. I'm not saying they are terrible but what I saw especially in Nigeria and Mali was really not pleasing to the eye. It was only a short trip but those two nations are in a dire state and something needs to be done Asap.
I'm half Moroccan half Mexican by the way but I spent a significant part of my life in Frankfurt Germany. I've been observing from a far but I'll be chipping in once in a while to give my honest unbiased opinion.
NTSA: In view of the volatile security situation in the Eastern Rutshuru region, MONUSCO troops of MORRDB and KENQRF carried out Joint night combat patrolling between KIWANJA and RUMANGABO to maintain a high state of readiness and dominance in the region.
DRC has summoned Rwanda's ambassador and suspended Rwandair flights to Congo in response to what it says is Kigali's support for M23 rebels carrying out a military offensive in eastern Congo. Two Rwandan soldiers have apparently been kidnapped.
