Webmasters › Re: My Advice To All Nigerian Developers by NumberOne2(m): 1:38pm On Jun 02, 2015 |
It is lack of standardization. In more developed countries, BLUE COLAR workers are standardized. Example, an electrician or mechanic has to write certain exams or get certain certifications before they can function. Here, an mechanic or electrician follows his boss around for 3 months and is ready to go and RUINS peoples cars.
Same applies to Web Design. Some guy takes a 2 hour lecture on web design and is good to go. Now he wants to designing sites for 5k? How much is hosting? I believe we will get there, its just a matter of time (Nigerians can be very impatient so that doesnt help). There are a lot of good developers in Nigeria.
Also our general crave for foreign products mentality. Its poverty that forces some to use Nigerian Devs. If a client has the money, he will rather do his app in India or UK than use a Nigerian. Not because Nigerian developers are bad (its a mentality). It is the same reason why most Nigerians prefer Stallion Rice (imported) to Ebony (ofada). Here local content is seen as dead. |

abiolaoladipupo: I learnt in the book of Genesis 4;17 which says Cain made love to his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was the first son of adam and eve and the bible says he made love to his wife my question is does God create another woman for him cus i dont really know how he could get a woman when there are just only four of them on earth then... Easy. Even Atheists and Muslims know the answer to this. The bible rearly documents women. Except for a few like Eve, Rahab, Ruth (Go check generations of Jesus in Matthew and Luke). If not for the issues Dinah (Jacobs daughter had), no one will probably know Jacob has a daughter. Methuselah lived longest in the Bible at 969 years but we do not know his mother. To your question:Adam and Eve had another son named Seth. So who did Seth marry? And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: - Genesis 5:4So how many daughters of Adam do you know were mentioned in the Bible? Is it so hard to see that Cain married his sister? A sister that was not documented at the time of Cain and Abel. Yeah, you may call it incest but at the time it was common practice. Men did not know better. Even, a son of Jacob (Reuben) slept with his father concubine. And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard it... - Genesis 35:22It was later that God gave a law against it to the Israelites: None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their unclothedness: I am the LORD. - Leviticus 18:6The the list continue to vs 22 and 23 where God speaks against Homosexuals and sex with Animals. Daseed4: That's what we are saying... You have the Holy Spirit and you couldn't discern if these really happened to me or that I cooked it up. I have the priviledge to pastor a branch of Winners Chapel in Iwo Zone b4 i left for NYSC. When I was about to leave, the zonal pastor asked me to give orientation to the incoming church member designated as the pastor. The very first day i took him to the house where he would be staying whenever he wanted to pass the night in the town, he misbehaved. In the storey building wit many tenants, he saw a very beautiful woman(married, but one can't know until u are told) and approached her for love. She quickly told her husband that a pastor i brought to the house 'toasted' her. If the zonal pastor(a spiritual father thousands of people are looking up to) has the Holy Spirit, would he hav brought that lecher to replace me? The news spread like wildfire and ruined the church. Next time, enquire from God what to say b4 spewing trashes. Christianity Etc › Re: What Is White Wedding And Is It Biblical? by NumberOne2(m): 2:15pm On May 31, 2015 |
According to the bible, marriage is the Joining of an MAN and a WOMAN (should not include homosexuals).
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. - Genesis 2:24
Different cultures have how they go about it. Some in court, some wear white gowns and tux (white wedding), some wear traditional attire (traditional wedding). Its all boils down to the same thing, a man leaving his father and mother and joining to his wife.
So wear a white gown, wear a suit, sign in court or wear bikini and swim suits in the beach, it just a CELEBRATION of the JOINING of man and woman. |

Scholar8200: Glory to God. Actually we can't be too sure of the op. I am acquainted with one who, like John the Baptist, fell into the trap of the devil's most powerful weapon - discouragement (Not love of money, not laps of Delilah, not power and fame) and after falling have questioned everything till I could not but perceive they were really voicing thoughts suggested from without by he who shot the fiery dart in the first place. When a person persists long in that case, and folks around help drive the arrow deeper (the accuser knows how to make this happen), the result is what the op threatens. Yes discouragement is a strong weapon. Lots of such (discourages ones) are here on NL claiming to be Atheist. I refer to such as "religious dropouts". You can tell by the venom with which they attack God. Blaming God for floods, fuel scracity, plane crashes and power outages. When I read the Bible and see great men of faith (cloud of witnesses) and how they walked with God... this scripture comes to mind. "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." - Heb:12:1-2 |

Daseed4, since you claim to have opened this topic outside your original UserName, you should be able to open up and speak the truth. Instead you ask questions which a simple study of the Bible would have show you. You say salvation came late. Look, even if Jesus died in the time of Noah, some will still reject Him just as you are doing now. So whose fault is that? Anas09 I think you are right. This guy is a fraud. theAtheist101: Funny! Now I see where the problem really lies. You don't understand the workings of nature. The question use should ask yourself is why do ocean's have tides? Is it god that is moving the water or some daemons? What of ocean currents? These phenomena would generate pressure in any water body that is 9,000 metres high above the normal sea level (according to you Bible's tale). Next time you watch a video that involves a ship, try to notice as the ocean waves smash into the ship.
Read that result again and look closely at its unit. I wrote: 43870+ days (!) of atmospheric pressure and water pressure . Now you make me laugh about the timeline question. Everyone (an hyperbole!) knows the timeline except you. Seek Google for the timeline of the event.
Where did you see or read that untreated woods can survive for over 120 years? Don't you know woods rot, both hard and soft? You have just been mentioning Nigeria all this while, yet you cannot give me one good example of a house that was built with untreated wood during the time of Lord Lugard that still stands, not to talk of a boat. Even the treated ones still rot, because treatment only slows down the rate of rotting. Hard woods wouldn't last up to ten years before it starts decaying. Meaning that, only the would used 10 years before the flood would survive fungi attack.
Also mystify these logical questions about the tale:
https://sensuouscurmudgeon./2012/11/13/top-ten-reasons-noahs-flood-is-mythology/
The only way you can draw this argument with me is by going the "supernatural" way, just like other religionists. Let me help you out:
God being omnipotent, super-pressure treated the woods that were used for the manufacturing of the boat! In short, he was the labourer! Thank me through a pm! Ocean tides? Ah, you mentioned earlier of Christopher Columbus ship. What was it made of? You mentioned earlier also of Egyptian boats, were they not made of wood. Oh, these can stand water pressure, but when it comes to Noah's boat, it can't withstand water pressure? Our initial dispute was of wood lasting more than 120 years. I see you have seen evidence of the truth but instead of admitting that, you bring another issue of TIMELINE of the FLOOD? Nice try. (Create a thread for that and I may explain to you) Ok, here is just ONE example of wooden beams (with Pictures) in ITALY today that have lasted 800 years! Thank me later for this info. http://www.treehugger.com/green-architecture/wood-construction-can-last-long-time.htmlAs for those in Nigeria, when I go to my village, I will take some pics for you. Finally, if God built the ship, it wouldn't have taken 120 years to complete. It took that long so you can appreciate the human effort in the construction. Comprehende? PS: Judging from your username (101), I see you are new to Atheism. Its a long journey but here is a tip:When disputing, get REAL data (like I did) rather than pointing to "BACK YARD" blogs on FREE hosting WordPress as evidence. |

theAtheist101: You have only stated why woods that are used in the interior of houses are treated, not woods that are used to manufacture boats and ships. You should have also included pressure, wind and water pressures!
When did Columbus discover America? Was is it 2500 BC? The man took a voyage in 15th century (AD) that took two months and 8 days. Do know that they were stopping at islands intermediating Europe (Portugal) and "the New World" (America) to service the ship? Even with the breaks during the journey, do you know there ship still wrecked? Finally, do you know that the best ship built in 2500 BC were that of the Egyptians and we saw the evidence for their ships. The Noah's story is a myth concocted by liars, so I would advise you to wise up and see the truth.
Yes, hard wood might survive 40 days of flood, but can't survive (120 years * 365.25 days/year) + (40+ days [it was purported that they actually spent more days on the boat]) = 43870+ days (!) of atmospheric pressure and water pressure. Even a present day ship would not last this long! Water pressure? The boat floats on water, where is the pressure? Dont you know objects are lighter in water. A 1000kg boat will not exert the same 1000kg at its base in water as it will on land. Your calculation is wrong. The boat was not on water for 120 years! Where did you get that from? You Dont even know the story yet you have concluded. (Arguing stuff you dont know. My mistake) Leave the bible alone. If you Dont believe it thats fine but dont tell me wood in construction cannot survive beyond 120 years. There is enough evidence of wood surviving beyond that even here in Nigeria. Go do your research. |

theAtheist101: And these houses can withstand a flood, right? The atmospheric pressure these wooden houses withstand must certainly be the same with the pressure at the bottom of a boat, right? So Noah must have pressure-treated the woods he used to build the ark, like that used to build houses in the 19th century (ad)?
It is true that wood couldn't have fossilised in that time period -- he was just being sarcastic! But, I am certain the untreated Gopher wood , the Bible claims Noah used cannot use 2 years without full servicing, talk less of 120 years. In actual fact, the only people at that time, who could manufacture a boat of a far smaller magnitude were the Egyptians, not the Jews! So wake up from the delusions of the Bible and face reality! What is this? Do you know why wood is treated? It is treated mainly for insects and humidity like I stated. Modern treatments also improve water resistance and more recently pressure resistance. Wood on its own has great structural integrity. Are you telling me that early American's who arrived from Europe pressure treated the wood for construction? Stop making a fuss of common knowledge. Go do your research. PS: The flood was for 40 days. I'm sure wood can survive that. As for johnydon22, I know he was kidding. The kid has a good sense of humour. |

menesheh: What's wrong with gay marriage. You are jumping from one unanswered question to another.
What modern morals and ethnics entails are those acts capable of inflicting harm to another human cum animal in noticeable manner whether physical of emotional. Living things (especially animals than plant) always respond negatively to impulses of harm eg taking your hand near fire will make you respond negatively than having sex. So gay will never harm me or you so far as the two or more that engage in such act don't interfere with my or your wellbeing. Also as far the act don't harm, kill or becomes a health hazard to them(the perpetrators) and others not involve.
Better start now to reconfigure your mindset and reasoning method to suit with 21st century morals rather than resorting to stone age mythical morals book to guarding you on what's right and wrong. Refering to the BOLDED above: I am not jumping questions. I am showing how faulty your argument is. You want us to abandon religion like the British. So should we adopt gay marriages like them? If both your parents were GAY where will you be?. Rubbish. Even two same sex DOGS or RATS know better, it is humans like you (in the name of rights and freedom) that think same sex intercourse or marriage is SANE. Somehow timber lasted 120years without rotting or breaking into pieces, most of those woods and the boat must have been fossil before the 120years. .lol.. What is this? Don't know that wood can last hundreds of years depending on humidity and insect (termites)? Fossils takes thousands of years to form so 120 year old wood CANNOT fossilize. There are many houses built with wood in ancient times around the World (Nigeria inclusive) that are still standing. Pennah: who amongst dis has faith pass NOAH:- Build an ark upon no sign of rain of rain he stil carried on wit d work which took him 120 years to complete the ark wit no visibles signs of rain

OP (Daseed4), It hurts when we loose someone. If you really believe in God, you will be glad your Mum has gone to be with Him. - You blame God for your Mums death? - For your financial and academic woes?
Look, ideas rule the World. When I pray about finances, I dont pray for money. I have gone past that. I pray for ideas. When praying, pray in faith or dont bother praying at all. Its not about how loud or looong you pray, its about faith.
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." - James 1:5-8
How does on grow their faith. From the Word. "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" - Romans 10:17
Take time to study the Bible. This is the ONLY key to a successful Christian life. Personal relationship with God. Go beyond listening to Sunday preaching or closeness to your Pastor or church Leaders. Get to know God for yourself and He will take you places you never dreamed.
DO NOT trust in ANY man (Pastor's inclusive) to help you, they will fail you. They are human. Look unto Jesus. "Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD." - Jeremiah 17:5
"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." - Hebrews 12:2
"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God." - Psalms 20:7
Christianity is a Rugged and Beautiful life.
Finally, becoming a religious dropout (Atheist) is NOT God's fault. Its actually no one's fault. Its your choice. You are a FREE agent. To you, it seems like because you have a hard life (despite all your prayers) that God has abandoned you. Well, there are folks who have suffered more and are still in the faith.
"If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small." - Proverb 24:10

eshbeewanna: The Holy Ghost was already with them:
We read "if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you." The comforter can not be the Holy Ghost because the Holy Ghost (according to the Bible) was "with" them already (and even quite active) long before the coming of Jesus (peace be upon him) himself and then throughout his ministry. Read for example.
Genesis 1:2 "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."
1 Samuel 10:10 "And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them."
1 Samuel 11:6 "And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly."
"Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?" (Isaiah 63:11)
"For he (John the Baptist) shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb." (Luke 1:15)
"And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee." (Luke 1:35)
"And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost" (Luke 1:41)
"And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying," (Luke 1:67)
"And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him." (Luke 2:25)
"And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost (Simeon), that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ." (Luke 2:26)
"And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him (Jesus), and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased." (Luke 3:22)
"Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost." (John 20:21-22)
Did they or did they not already receive the Holy Ghost? Was Jesus (peace be upon him) not still with them when they received the Holy Ghost? Was the Holy Ghost not with Simeon, Mary, Elisabeth and Zacharias before the birth of Jesus (peace be upon him)? Was the Holy Ghost not with Moses (peace be upon him) when he parted the seas? There are many more similar verses to be found in the Bible. In the above verses, we are told that if Jesus (peace be upon him) does not depart then the "parakletos" will not come. Thus, the "Holy Ghost" cannot be the one originally intended since it was already with them. The contradiction is quite obvious.
The Human Prophet
A "Spirit" in the New Testament is a human Prophet. Therefore, Jesus had predicted the comming of a human Prophet (spirit) after him and not the Holy Spirit. Jesus would not have used the word "he" for the Holy Spirit. He would have used "it" instead in John 14:26 above. Read 1 John 4:1-3 below: "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world," (1 John 4:1-3)
(also see 1 John 4:6), or an inspired human, for example read 1 Corinthians 2:10, 2 Thessalonians 2:2, ...etc.
There had been many cases of deliberate modification of the Biblical text by members of the Christian clergy themselves, as well as deliberate large scale projects to "correct" the Bible, and the writings of "the early fathers," (such as the deliberate insertion of the verse of 1 John 5:7 which is now universally discarded) It is, therefore, possible that either:
1) The word "Holy" could have been dropped by a careless copyist., or
2) Someone could have inserted the word "Holy" to convey his personal understanding of the text.
Which was it? In order to arrive at the answer we must follow the same path of detective work the Biblical scholars themselves do. We must study the characteristics of the "Paraclete" and compare them to both the "Holy Spirit" and to a "Spirit." Muslims believe that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the one intended and not the Holy Ghost. In the Christian's own "Gospel of Barnabas" Muhammad is mentioned by name here. The Trinitarian church, however, has done its utmost to obliterate all existing copies of "The Gospel of Barnabas," and to hide it from the masses or to label it a forgery. For this reason, it becomes necessary to show that even the Gospels adopted by Paul's church also originally spoke of Muhammad (peace be upon him). ... and after this long explaination did you not see Acts 2:1-4 or is that also in the "Gospel of Barnabas"? "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts 2:1 - 4Read the entire Chapter and see how the Holy Spirit (not Muhammed) influenced the early Church greatly. Finally, if you accuse the Bible of forgery how can we not say same of the Koran? Kindly work with the document you have as claims and counter claims of forgery will lead NO where as it CANNOT be authenticated at least not by either of us. The question still remains, if Muhammed was a Spirit, how come he had wives and children? Guess he blew it there. He should have stayed single then MAYBE we would have believed him. |

udatso: My point exactly. If spirit means the spirit behind the prophet, and the prophet is been tested, then literally the spirit is being tested. Like I said, they are ENGLISH words. Use a dictionary or google, first check the meaning of Spirit then check the meaning of Prophet. Then read the scripture again. It will be clearer to you. PS: Muhammed is a Prophet not a Spirit. Dont get it twisted. Spirits dont marry. |
