You are very correct. Its just sad. Take Kaduna state for example, someone who read Geology in the university is placed on level 09 while a degree holder in engineering will be placed on level 08. This is because the Geological society fought on behalf of the geologists. Engineers by any standard are soposed to begin their careers with government at level 10.

Its just sad really.

With all the jobs engineers are doing all over land, sea and even in space. Geoscientists are a very long way behind in the scheme of things.

They should work together with Geoscientists who understand the subsurface better before building any structure especially in areas with unstable soils.

Building collapse is rearly the fault of Engineers. when people run away from qualified Engineers and architects by giving quacks jobs, what do you expect.

In some cases, politicians would rather award contracts to their girlfriends and relations than to qualified engineers.
