Well, we do rotations for the last 3 years of our medical school, plus when we graduate , we do rotations as house officers, and when we go for residency, we do rotations too throughout our residency

Plus some of us spend our holidays while in university gaining practical experience at hospitals.

Most of those clinical rotations involve us learning practical skills that we would use in practice. We spend less time in class and more time on the ward, and clinics, and operating theaters. We take calls and we do work (I took my first delivery of many as a medical student on my ob/gyn rotation)

At the end of the day, we are on our own version of SIWES from 400 LEVEL upwards. Maybe for life, because after becoming a consultant, the learning never stops.

All of this does not justify someone beating up his lecturer because of him having to repeat his year to do SIWES.

It's like you don't get what am saying.

MLS Physiotherapy and co also do rotations in clinical years hope you get.

i didnt justify him beating anybody.

HouseJob Internjob is also meant not to be husstled for. its part of the tranning process.
Food / Re: Have You Ever Known Or Met Someone Who Could Eat So Much At A Sitting. by nurain150(m): 8:33pm On Nov 20, 2021
OKOATA:
Ok while schooling at unilorin in those years, we have this buka that students normally go to eat. There's this guy who comes to eat in one of those bukas, he eats ones a day and at a sitting the guy will finish 18 raps of fufu no cap, I mean the woman at the canteen who serves him already knows him, he eats 18 raps like that every blessed day till we graduated.

Another happened at my grandpa's funeral, one of cousins brought a neighbor of hers, the little girl was about 5 years old but man this girl ate a very big mosel of pounded yam and she said she wanted more, out of curiosity she was given another huge mosel with egusi soup she finished that one again, haba she still wanted more, I said no more cos her belle was about to bust.

One of my own very good friend again that one na die, I went to his house, that night the wheat was served my friend was served too I said how many people wanna eat this he said only him, blood of habakkuk what you wanna eat is about 3 people's own na, this guy can fry 10eggs with 300naira bread at a go, he literally eats every 30mins, one bag of rice, semo, wheat within a week fiam ma guy foodstuff don vanish.

Whosoever experienced such you can share.
I eat a lot.
But I may eat ones a day.

But the remaining might be junk.

Well the last 3 years of medical school are basically SIWES for us.

Lol that's not the proposition.

Last 3 years for PharmD programs, DPT and co are also Rotations.

And for B.Pharm programs we have labs we rotate right from entry.

This people won't spare MBBS BDS too.

Formally there was not siwes fro allied health/Pharmacy.

The case is different now.

And no I am not that strong emotionally mind.

Plus if I missed a clinical posting I still had to do it. All clinical postings were mandatory . Even if it means extra year.

I missed a almost a whole part of the semester..

I understand the guy delema.

I fought for my result.

This people don't buy cheap talks.

But let's all have considering spirit.

Some even abused me during the process.

Yes you do, but you still get practical experience.

All the guy needed to do was to do it. Sorry but that's what the Ministry of education prescribes so take it up with them

Plus it still does not justify him beating up the woman.

I didn't justify his actions. It's until they add siwes to MBBS before the eyes clear.

They just added siwes to other allied health/pharmacy of recent.

Soon MBBS.

Note they also have clinical postings.

It was very inconvenient AND stressful for me to do all the practical work/postings that I did to graduate as a medic...but then again, it was very very useful knowledge gained.

You should have done your SIWES. Just saying. E get why.

Plus your not doing your SIWES does not excuse the Unilorin chap. He should have done his SIWES. Especially as his university had virtually made it compulsory that he actually did it.

Plus he was training to be a microbiologist. If he had graduated without practical knowledge and ended up working in a lab in a hospital for NYSC, and one of your relations was misdiagnosed because he did not know how to identify a positive organism under the microscope because zero practical knowledge....and the relative died, who would you blame?

Plus would you agree to be treated by a doctor who had zero practical's in school? Just book?

How can you compare siwes to clinical posting?

Clinical posting you don't hunt for it.

Siwes you hunt just like hunting for internship who does that under limited time frame.

That you didn't do it does not make it right

Plus in many universities it is compulsory for some courses

Also if you read the article , the university has tightened requirements for SIWES before this case. A student had to have actually done it this time.

Practical knowledge is very useful. And I speak as a doctor who spent most of the last 3 years of my MBBS and some holidays self doing practical so to speak as we can't graduate without it

What would happen if you miss a clinical posting? You would sort it out. But some lectures are just wicked will abuse you mentally and emotionally.

In this exclusive interview with Daily Trust, she narrated her side of the story which has been missing from the dominant narrative out there about the incident. She also clarified what she termed misconceptions about the whole issue. Excerpts:-

Lol do you know how an app works and how play store works.

Playstore cannot uninstall the app.

It means that gallery is a virus and has violated Playstore services hence they removed asap.

Probably the app deleted your cloud photos or sold them to porn industry.

And kept a few at internal memory

Or other use case.

Politics / Re: 6 Offences Punishable By Death In Nigeria by nurain150(m): 4:15pm On Nov 18, 2021
Businesslist:
Any offence that attracts the death penalty is generally known and termed a capital offence. This term was derived from the Latin word 'capitalis' which referred to execution by beheading. Although some countries have kicked against this form of punishment claiming that it is unfair, it is however still applicable in Nigeria.

Section 33 of the Nigerian Constitution guarantees every citizen's right to life except where a court sentence has been issued in respect of a criminal offence that a person been found guilty of. In this article, we would examine the different examples of capital offence in Nigeria. Some include:

1. Murder:

Also referred to as homicide, it involves the killing of another person in a manner not justified by law. Section 319 of the Criminal Code prescribes the death penalty as punishment for murder .

There are certain situations where killing a person would not be unlawful. Where a police officer shoots an escaping suspect, or where the millitary kills terrorists, it will not be murder.

2. Armed robbery:

This refers to committing the act of stealing by a person carrying a dangerous weapon. It does not matter if such weapon was brandished or used. Section 402 provides that a person guilty of armed robbery is to be sentenced to death.

3. Treason:

An attempt by a person to overthrow a government he or she is subject to is called treason. Section 37 of the Criminal Code prescribes the death penalty as punishment for treason.

4. Conspiracy to commit treason:

Section 37 of the Criminal Code also prescribes the death penalty as punishment for anyone who conspires to commit treason. This could be by supplying weapons to overthrow a government, giving information to an enemy of the government or by doing any other act against one's allegiance to the government.

Other offences punishable by death include:

5. Fabricating false evidence leading to the conviction of death of an innocent person

6. Aiding the suicide of an innocent child or a lunatic

Foreign Affairs / Re: Deport Foreign Nationals And Get Our Votes: South Africans Tell Julius Malema by nurain150(m): 3:59pm On Nov 18, 2021
TMKsouth:

I think if poor South Africans can be given a chance to enter the workforce and increase their fortunes, the anti-foreigner sentiment would drastically decrease (which is not only against other Africans btw - it's just that they are fighting those in their proximity such as Africans and Pakistanis). Remember SA has a completely different history and economic structure from the rest of the continent - so thorough analysis is needed instead of this knee-jerk lambasting of previously (and currently) disadvantaged groups.

For example someone like me and my peers with varsity qualifications and solid job opportunities is not easily intimidated by foreigners - but for poor and under-educated South Africans they have to compete for menial jobs with migrants. I don't know if you've ever been to SA fergie but it's a fact that Zimbabweans for examples form the majority of waiters in SA restaurants for the simple fact that employers wanna pay less (South Africans are usually unionized). Same thing in retail stores owned by Ethiopians, Nigerians, Somalis, Pakistanis and Chinese - they prefer Malawians, Zimbabweans, etc who will work for peanuts but the exchange rate favours them.

Just this month Botswana and Zim introduced protectionist labour laws outlawing the employment of foreigners in certain industries, but if SA does it it's labelled xenophobic. Bear in mind SA has million of undocumented migrants while these two neighbouring countries don't and benefit from migration into SA themselves. On top of that, SA has an unresponsive government that seeks to appease the continent at the expense of its own citizens while Zim and Bots have no qualms closing South Africans outside.

Someone needs to give SA a break guys. Sorry for the essay but it's a complex issue.

You just said it now. Your country thrives on foreign investment. So if they leave that's good bye.

They should just place a quota
