There are more Toyota haters in cartalk than the world in general op just asked a question without reference to any other car maker and every tom, dick and Harry decided to blame ops ignorance on Toyota. My sympathy goes to TOYOTA I hope they can recover their mandate through the mods. 5years Ban for Toyota dissing 10years Ban for those who accompanied with pictures. Individuals with multiple Toyota K-leg pictures should have their account deactivated. ![]() |

But you like argument Sha. The Accord is a bigger brother to the Civic and more expensive to produce, more quality would be attached to the build quality. I never mentioned build or quality in my initial post until you talked about sagging roof liner which I have not come across but possible. I don't really know where the back and forth between us is heading to though because I am more confused than ever. |
thebigkendo:you are right. But I haven't said anything concerning quality. I didn't say the Civic has build quality than the Accord |
thebigkendo:The Audi comparison came in for the engine bay comment, if you don't understand that let's leave it for another day. cracked engine block affected 07 to 09 and were changed under warranty (Honda extended warranty to 10years), it wasn't a mileage thing but a year thing. Majority who passed the 8year mark were deem safe it occured truely but not widely spread. The Civic is very much popular onroad, if it was a plague we did see several Civic ready for engine replacement. A vehicle plague isn't something easily covered up eg (accord leg pull, quest CVT, Altima CVT, Volvo T8 gear issues etc) Sagging roof liner Never came across that before, though can happen to cars with low build quality. The build quality in the Accord should be higher than Civic reason I have Accord luxury seal. |
This is not the right way to ask for help 1. There is no valid plate number 443 anywhere in Nigeria, what we use for example is "Lagos plate LSD007NL" etc. 2. No picture or description of the said vehicle 3. Instance of it missing, was it gun point? stolen when parked? driver abscond with the vehicle etc. 4. location of the said theft so people living in and around the area can watch out or give out useful information. good luck |
thebigkendo:Yeah engine bay is cramped but not as worse as AUDI design. Majorly he doesn't have to worry about leg sound, engine seats, power steering. I factored in alot before choosing that, remember I used DC for 12years not a bad car but needs more attention than Civic. |

uboma:That is a very good question. The Valve cover job isn't a tough one really and can be done to factory spec with the right Bond which is expensive than the regular ones. The major reason why I normally don't dish out the advice is because of "resale" when buyer comes to inspect and notice the valve cover or seals around engine has been redone before they feel engine has had a major problem. To be candid Honda engines are highly susceptible to oil seal leak from around the engine. Also I prefer to know what's going on in my engine inorder to safe guard myself against the eventuality remember in this context I used "I" siting myself as an example also it's an advice he has to weigh the pros and cons and decide which works best for him. |
winner915:Luxury, Status, power, speed the Accord is better than Civic Fuel economy, ease of maintenance Civic takes it here. Though depending on the Civic you lay your hands on, it can be par with the accord in luxury and speed eg Civic Si, Civic type R or the Canadian Acura CSX which is a rebadged civic |
Sharmeenator:Your engine has a valve cover which has the Honda insignia and vtec, it's not a diy thing for a novice. you have to unbolt the engine cover, plug wires then remove bolts once the valve cover is off you will see the engine internals and can determine the extent of sludge in an engine or if the engine is sludge free. Majorly advice like this isn't given because the bond used to hold the valve cover gasket and the cover together may not be as solid as factory fitted one, so every 2 to 3 years you have to reapply cause engine oil will sip from the cracks. |
Sharmeenator:For question 1 and 2 depends on how long the vehicle has been on 20w50 and the maintenance of the former owner. If it's a while ago just keep to 20w50 and change every 3k km or 3months which ever arrives first. The other alternative is to open the top valve cover and see engine internals that will alley your fears and worry. Mobil oil is not the best thing to happen after Afro as long as the oil manufacturer is well known and the oil has good reviews both online or from car experts you are good to go. I don't expect you to see soapy synthetic oil 5w20 also made in Ladipo Nigeria and believe it is a good oil |
donuba61:The problem is that it has no problem |
Unrated900:if you have sold it why are now pained about my comment? Overheating if not tackled early can render the engine useless. unlucky you, it is an aluminum engine they don't fair well with overheating. engine cost 250k or above depending on source and peripherals attached. awele186:Venza VS ES350 are you kidney me . The venza is a Camry wagon, I don't see anything fancy in the interior apart from the Exterior shape which is tantalizing, interior and luxury wise is same as a LE Camry. The venza is no where near an ES350 probably a base ES350 |
windows98:You dey naija so? Ford mustang is a muscle sports car. Hyundai sonata is a midsized sedan. sonata is tops in reliability but both a distinct enough for you to decide, if you are in the states you don't need to worry about what we worry about in naija ![]() |
