Samafroxy22: I was on my way home yesterday when i got a low oil pressure warning light on my dashboard. Since i was 2miles away, i kept on driving knowing when i must add or change the oil next...
When I got down to open up the gate i noticed a "knocking sound" from the engine haaa!...
I managed to park it parked the vehicle and noticed that oil had been draining. I tried checking where the drainage was coming from but i couldn't; was already to dark and the oil splashed all over the bottom engine parts including the front passenger side tire.... all the oil drained there cus when i dipped the guage stick in the engine no oil in it anymore...
I have called my mechanic, but couldn't sleep...
How bad can it get to drive a mile or 2 without oil?
And what could have caused the sudden leak? What make and model year of vehicle are you talking about? Physical inspection before diagnosis is given but there is possibility the engine has to be opened up and internal components checked |

Lovelynife: Considering the Kia Rio because of maintenance and fuel but scared/afraid of high cost of engine like 280k(incase of unforseen) compare to some Honda/Toyota that there engine can be easily gotten with 150-180k Then buy a Honda or Toyota or better still look for Nissan Almera, Sunny, primera or Sentra less than 07 model years and buy, Nissan engines aren't expensive and those years too are reliable especially the Sentra. |

Kelvin30286063: I was reading this news today about how Kent Police in the US succeeded in recovering hundreds of stolen catalytic converters STORY HERE: https://komonews.com/amp/news/local/kent-police-recover-hundreds-of-stolen-catalytic-converters
And I'm wondering why this is not a crime in Nigeria. I mean everyday hundreds of cars that had their cats intact when they arrived in Nigeria are either stolen at the port or at a mechanic workshop yet there has been no cases of arrest or crack down on this rampant theft.
I wonder why! There is still alot to be done in Nigeria. The question we need to ask you is if Nigeria police knows what a catalyst converter is? Nigeria police only know how to ask for engine number they don't even know where each manufacturer stamps the said engine number |

Lovelynife: Good Afternoon. Please is Kia Rio/Hyundai Accent 2003-2008 a good car. Is it economical? Maintenance? Finally, How much is the complete engine? And complete gear incase of unforseen Yes good vehicle, fuel efficient. But careful with those bought new in Nigeria without the normal temperature gauge but rather a blue and red light temp warning. Engines are expensive now but the engine in the brand new unit for naija market can easily be rebuilt if faulty. Gear price unknown asni used manual gear variant and they rarely give issues. Buy Rio because it has the rack and pinion set of steering Accent came with Electronic power steering and expensive unit to replace and yes with our jaga jaga road it get spoilt often. |

I guess selling to Processing companies is much better than selling to Markets like Mile12 and idiroko One can have a mixture of the 2 companies may collect and pay in a week or 2 weeks time also they have specs you have to meet. Open Market pay cash on delivery or cash on sighting goods at your farm, they buy all specs even rotten ones your profit depends on your negotiating power with the open markets. |

Nezzjnr: That's 100, 000 stands
Someone in Nairaland has 80 acres and planning to expand to times 3 of that next year.
A bunch goes for the minimum 700 - 1000 A bunch is more than your quoted price, small bunch start at 1k for farm gate price in Benin, Ondo, ijebu ode axis. I just use 500 as profit per bunch after expenses to market and transport has been removed and inadvertently all bunch won't be small and some stands would produce 2 bunch. |

Here I was thinking Cultivating plantain of 100 acres is actually huge 100 acres of plantain is huge bro that's almost 10,000 stands multiplied by 500naira per bunch that's 5million naira yearly atleast. Trees crops always have more land size because they require more spacing in planting |

I don't know how lucrative the business is still. Agriculture business garri is very expensive because a new cassava processing factory just opened in Ore and a new one in PH or is it rivers they would need cassava chips. If you plant TME419 today within 8 to 12months you will be smiling to the bank. My favorite is plantain because my retirement plan is to process plantain to plantain chips and flour. Vegetables too are money spinners as they mature within a month I know how much I have saved from my personal ugu farm for consumption. h author=OfficialDJ post=103066272]in a bid to sound politically correct, you sound incoherent.
How do you own two cars, and enter public transportation, and at the same time earn 6 figures monthly. Those three sentences CANNOT go together Mr.
Fuelling each car every month shouldn't take more than 20-25k except there are fuel guzzlers.
It doesn't make sense to own a car, or two in your case and still take public transport.
Except you're a miser. Upgrade your thinking bro.... Drops pen[/quote]In a bid to sound sensible you sound st***p but since you asked a question, let me answer you just a bit.
I work in a plantation 10,000 hectares if you research how big 10k hectares is and what a plantation entails I have answered the question of not using my car.
My hometown is 400km from my workplace, my work is stressful, I prefer to enter public transport and sleep in the bus throughout the journey than drive and use 4hrs from ibafo to berger not to talk of driving almost 300km none stop. It's also cheaper in terms of fuel as my vehicle uses 12L/100km in highway driving transportation cost me 4k only to my door step.
Security wise if public transport breakdown I find my way immediately, if my personal vehicle breakdown I must find a way to secure it first b4 moving on. |

DKgalemo: New Navi on Alibaba sells Car DVD players but doesn't include discs,it's cheaper that way and they don't even have them in their stock. You can check them yourself. I thought it's best to buy a cheaper DVD player and look for a game Disc later, than to buy a complete set on other shops at much steep Price. So I'm looking for a game disc, the DVD player is brand new and it's playing videos well in the car,I'm only short of game disc to play games. You wan dey play game while.driving Check online if you can download a soft copy of the game disc then burn it into an empty DVD-R preferably Sony disc and that's all. I thought of saving #100,000 every month, and that will amount to #2,400,000 in 24 months.
I've have always loved Lexus and the sleekness of their sedan cars. But I need help determining the ideal car, one that wouldn't cost me an arm and leg.
I need advice on how to make this happen, and sooner.
I believe two heads are better than one!!!
I'm 26 years, and it feels I'm missing a lot not having a personal car.
I need your help to think.
Lalasticlala, car lovers and dealers, your help is needed!
Thanks in advance!!! I own 2 cars and I enter public transport more than I drive them, I earn 6 figures monthly but it makes sense to enter transport (sometimes cheaper and more secure due to insecurity in the country) Don't buy car as luxury or showoff buy only if you need and don't keep money in bank invest it for turn over. If you are buying a car for now, buy a low budget car, traffic robbers, bandits, kidnappers would target a Lexus owner first before they think of breaking into a Volvo, Nissan or golf 3. |
Car Talk › Re: Is Car Fuel Saver Really Economical? by nurey(m): 9:52am On Jun 24, 2021 |
Fuel saver read about snake oil to get your answer but in all it doesn't work.
Injector cleaner is used to clean injectors but rarely recommended because it mostly does more harm than good, injectors are cleaned using water bathe, more effective.
Octane booster is the only genuine one I know and only for cars with premium fuel required tot recommended.
REQUIREd means it's a must and engine may fail if something else is used
RECOMMENDED means can use non premium fuel won't fail but won't give the optimum operation. |

sultaan: Bouncing car means bad shock absorber.
Everything else is a classic Toyota fan opinion of other models, there is a reason some are called work trucks, these are pangolo trims, not XLT, OR Lariat Comparing a 2013 pangolo to a 2018 hilux is not fair, especially if the Hilux is automatic.
Comparing a South African pangolo to an American mid range trim is not fair either.
Is the Ford Ranger a good truck to buy if it is in good shape? I believe OP had answered that question from a owners point of view. And we hope he gives us update on how it goes. If properly maintained.
Parts will mostly be original. @ N500 to 1 It will be irresponsible to expect parts to be cheap when Nigerian Customs Service has collected a huge duty on those parts The Ford Ranger international version has always been kpangolo it's the American version that has attitude. Though to be fair the luxury in the international version can only be felt in the exterior. Like plastic rope bolt ons for the bucket, the big men on the company ranger have bucket metallic cover and Aluminium Handle guard for the bucket, fog light with aluminum or should I say shinny metallic cover. Even the radiator grill.isnt plastiky. Some interior have a small screen for radio station something to show RDS info, don't know about airbags number. Then the 4x4 came with bigger rims and have a better ground clearance than the 2doors. Other than that no leather, all units are manual even the Everest SUV and yes we have XLT trims |

I can see that! .... no pics given where one can ID the truck!... very careful indeed!
@ topic .... never owned a truck... but drive one for a living ... Ford. From observations ..... Americans not so good at making cars .... but when it comes to commercial vehicles ... they are more reliable but not as reliable as others like Toyota. When it comes to work vehicles... I strongly believe they are the most rugged. I see them a whole lot ... and the abuse they take is not down here. In general... whatever you can load them up with... they will take.... smooth roads... rugged roads... doesn't matter. My advice to you ... is have it well maintained and I suggest you use Nurey as your mechanic. American vehicles are nowhere as tolerant as Japanese vehicles.... the reason I suggest Nurey ... he is already familiar with the vehicle. Take it to one of those adventurous trial and error mechanic... you will be doomed. Enjoy the ride. I am not a mechanic or car technician I just know about cars. The car in question is owned in fleet by my work place. We have only international ranger they don't use American from 2003 down to 2020 model. It is used in jungle for patrol they are good and fast for highway but bush work not so good especially the 2door long bed, they experience steering rack leakage, severe underneath scraping especially when loaded and constant steering and wheel hub issues. Like I said they transverse severe jungle with stones and gully the 03 to 12 is a very strong and cheap truck especially in jeep form (ford Everest) |

CardyVardy: Please i need advise on which to choose between rav4 2005 model and crv 2007 model. All Nigerian used but to be checked by a competent mechanic.
My budget is 1.3M and it's going to be our first car but to be used by wifey. But i want a reliable and maintenance friendly 4 cylinder cuv/suv that will not give her headache and best value for money. Other choices could be suggested but should be a 4 cylinder SUV due to Naija road.
Budget could be adjusted slightly if need be.
cc Nurey, kingreign and other gurus RAV4 would be cheaper to maintain in the long run. Both vehicles are almost identical but the CRV is better interior wise and build compared to the RAV4. The K24 in the crv is better but more expensive than the 2az or 1az in the RAV4. I doubt if 1.3m can get you a good naija used 07 CRV.
