@ Justwise, Vicjustice & other experts I need your advice on this: My girlfriend's visa application was refused on the following grounds as stated by the ECO; I recognize that your boyfriend in the UK proposes to bear the cost of your visit, however, I must take into account your personal and economic circumstances in Nigeria when making my decision. You state that you are currently a student at xx university and that you intend to continue your studies after your trip to the UK. I am not satisfied that you have provided adequate evidence to substantiate this claim. I note that you have submitted evidence of previous studies at this educational institute however theses documents make no mention of your studies continuing beyond your proposed trip. I am therefore not satisfied that you are currently enrolled on a course of study in Nigeria or that you will return to further your studies upon completion of your visit to the UK. I am not satisfied that your circumstances are as claimed. She submitted a letter from her school identifying her as a final year student (though it didn't state graduation date), school id card, current session tuition fee receipt. You have declined to state how you are supported in Nigeria in section 5 of your visa application form. Full knowledge of your circumstances is an important consideration when assessing your application for a visit visa. In the absence of such information and evidence, you have not satisfied me, on the balance of probability, that your circumstances are as claimed, that you are genuinely seeking entry as a visitor for a limited period as stated by you. She filled that part of the form stating that she is a full time student and receives income from family and friends and also stated that she spends around 35,000 naira per month on living expenses. She provided a 6 months bank statement with a turnover of about 450,000 though with little balance of about 45,000 naira. You appear to have no independent means of support and have presented evidence of 45,823 naira. On the basis of evidence provided, you appear to have no dependant relatives and little in the way of personal income or assets in your own country. In light of the above, I consider that you have failed to show sufficiently strong family, social or economic ties to satisfy me, on the balance of probabilities, that you intend to leave the UK on completion of a short visa. We intend to reapply ASAP. I've asked her to get a more detailed letter from her UNI stating her date of graduation. Her father died about a yr ago but has a company that is still functioning as well as some landed properties. She just told me that she has a letter of administration from a Federal High Court in the FCT making her and her mum administrators of her late father's asset. I have asked her to include the letter, her late dad's company's CAC certificate of incorporation, a letter from her mum supporting her application as well as relevant bank statements from the mum and the dad's company. NB. I stated in the letter of invitation that I would bear the total cost and also provided bank statements with a total balance of a lil above 10k GBP as well as evidence of accomodation, communication etc. |

By Babajide Komolafe LAGOS —The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, yesterday, imposed fresh condition for owning a bank account saying that from January 8, 2013, the National Identity Number, NIN, would be criteria for owning and operating a bank account in the country. To this effect, from September 1 this year, CBN in conjunction with the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, and the Nigeria Interbank Settlement System, NIBSS, would commence a three months enrollment exercise for all existing banks’ customers to capture their biometrics and issue to them NIN as well as a General Purpose Identity Card. This was announced via a circular to all deposit money banks, microfinance banks and primary mortgage institutions, PMIs, on the use of the National Identity Number, NIN, for the Know Your Customer, KYC, verification. Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Interior, Rep. Umar Bature (r) being captured for the National Identity Number (NIN) at the National Identity Management Commission Abuja recently. The circular said: “As part of CBN’s efforts to bolster the banking industry and the entire financial system, the Bank in the recent past commenced steps to overhaul the KYC processes in banks, including the recently concluded customer account verification exercise. In furtherance to this exercise, the Bankers Committee at a recent meeting resolved to adopt the new National Identity Number, NIN, which is expected to be issued from September 2012 by the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, in conjunction with its front-ends partners as the new basis for KYC for financial transactions going forward. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/06/customers-to-provide-national-identity-number-at-banks-cbn/ |

The bomb blast said to have happened at the Lagos International Airport was a controlled detonation by anti-bomb squad in an effort to deactivate a suspicious package which turned out to be a bag forgotten by a passenger. The bag has been opened and it contained only documents and personal effects. |
A massive explosion ripped through the cargo wing of Lagos airport in Nigeria's commercial capital today and witnesses said they feared there would be casualties. "The explosion tore through the building," a witness told Reuters. "The place is till on fire with smoke rising high. Ambulances have raced to the scene and a helicopter is flying overhead." There was no immediate explanation for the blast at the complex, which is usually crowded with cargo agents and clients. Babasessy: Nigeria’s all-time highest goal scorer, Rashidi Yekini, who died on Friday, was yes-terday buried like a ‘commoner’ in his Ira village in Kwara State, without his colleagues in the national team in attendance. He was aged 49.Mutiu Adepoju, Ajibade Babalade and Dimeji Lawal were there. |
justwise: Using different names in two different passports is a bad idea, whether shorten names or full, names should be the same in all her IThank you Justwise. My fear is if they would be able to find out she's had another passport b4 d new ECOWAS e passport assuming she claims that the current one is her first passport. The expired one was obtained in 2002 and I don't think they had started taking biometrics then. |
@Justwise, Just a quick one, my girlfriend has 2 passports an old one which expired in 2007 and the current ECOWAS passport. On the old one,her middle name is written as Adaora while on the new one she wrote Ada which is d shortened form for Adaora. On the form, she's asked if she's owned any other passport before and she is also asked to include previous passports in the application and also fill in d details on d form. What do you advice? Should she claim not to have had any passport b4 or fill in the details ie passport number and when it expired and then claim to have misplaced the passport or go ahead and include d passport. NB: She didn't use d passport for any applications or travel prior to it's expiration. |
maasoap: It is either you're deluded just like the perpetrators of this act or you lack knowledge. Mohammed didn't send anybody or group to kill just like Jesus didn't send Anders Breivik to kill. Stop making error of generalization because this statement of yours clearly shows that I'm better as a Muslim than you as a ....................Dude, say what you know. Anders Breivik never claimed to have killed in the name of Jesus or for Christianity but these ediots kill in the name of Islam. They shout Allahu Akbar b4 comitting atrocities of mass murder. Religion of peace indeed. |
Truly, they are not. |
Mowire: Beyond the sentiments if GEJ indeed decides to contest in 2015 in 2015 he will be the most dishonest & morally bankrupt president we've had in Nigeria. To the best of my knowledge, GEJ never said he wasn't going to contest the 2015 election. |

nanos: I know a number of traders who are graduates in Alaba and Ariaria markets. They go into buying and selling for lack of corporate jobs.Point of correction, not for lack of corporate jobs but the fact that self employment pays more than being an employee. Mind you, most of them are millionaires |
@ola- one Could you stop spreading false info here pls! From which branch of ASDA do u buy pink lady apples for £1 each? Is there a branch of ASDA in Harrods? Where do you buy 5 mackerels for £10?
