The alternative is to leave your house VERY early, ippc is just once a year and if you plan well, you can make it. People travel all over the world to attend so we in lag are at a very large advantage. BTW, congratulate me because zone 2 carried the day, there is really room for overtakig as Pastor always say. Sunday session was a blast and i loved when pastor prayed and said "May you reach that point in your life where God can really be lord in your life and the most important personality" what a prayer!!!. The car parks were filled to the brim. From camp ground to the road passing in front of the UK visa office. The other road passing thru the main entrance of LCA was filled on both sides . The connecting road from Kudirat Abiola road where Oceanic Bank office is situated was almost filled when i drove past. So to save myself from the nightmare when the service closed, i called my wife and fled home with her . But next IPPC, I will come better prepared by getting a hotel within trekking distance of the arena. This year for the pastors/coordinators segment of the IPPC, i drove from my house. .

Bros, I have to disagree with you on this.Camera men also fall under the anointing. Even the ministering pastor at times fall. Watch Papa Hagin in 'when the Spirit gets moving'. Even papa Hagin couldn't stand the anointing. The lead singer couldn't stand. His son Hagin Jr couldn't stand it also.
Pastor Chris in one of new year services asked the camera men to focus on him, leave the camera and go out of the way. So we need to examine a wide sample space before drawing conclusions.

The teaching sessions for partners conference were short. . Those sessions make my IPPC outstanding. Cant forget 2007 edition. Seven thoughts on the gospel. My favourite, it is the gospel of life, glory etc. . Also the crowd this year was something else. When I saw the number of cars packed all over the massive LCA carpark and the adjoining roads and the nightmare of extricating myself, I drove home. .

Unless we have members of the DLBC who can confirm these allegations I would insist that there was no time that there was rule separating the sexes in their sitting arrangments as they do have in places like the CCC.

My brother, go and find out from older members of DLBC. I am not against bros and siss seated separately. But let the truth be told. Any time "our church" is mentioned, we fly in blind defense. The same thing we accuse others of doing. DLBC used to seat male and female on different sides of thechurch. I attended the one in my village, the one in kebbi state and the one in calabar.I have eyes and know the difference between male and female. So inquire from older members who were there in the 80's and 90's.

why the sharp rebuke? I stated what was the practice in the 80's and 90's and somebody is disputing. Even in the campus then, a couple of deeper life guys were my friends. In the campus, during service, sisters and brothers sat on different sides. I am not against the change. But insisting that it used to be the practice those days.

While in secondary school in 80's, Deeper Life opened in my village. Men and women sat on different sides of the church. I attended one of the December retreats of Deeper Life in Calabar, brothers and sisters sat differently. but I was surprised on watching the deeper channel (satellite tv) and seeing male and female seated together. So there is no mix up. So of us didn't know when the system changed.

How time flies. But I must finish this story.
On their way home, Mbe was scheming how to use tricks to snatch all the Mkpi won by Nkita. His bag is never short of tricks. At the usual place of rest, that is where they break their journey to refresh themselves, tethered all the he-goats he won and went to rest. He took his lunch and lay under the tree shade to have a nap. Mbe used his sharpened cutlass to kill the sickly mkpi he won and roasted the meat. Being a greedy fellow, he had his full, tied up the remaining meat in a parcel and offered the goat’s ear to Nkita. Mbe said the meat is a token of love and appreciation for the mercies Nkita showed him by rescuing him from sure death.
Nkita fully aware of Mbe and his tricks placed the goat’s ear in a corner of his mouth. He kept moving his jaws as if he was chewing the meat. Then, they broke camp and in the company of other animals who went to the competition headed home. Along the way, Mbe demanded that Nkita give him back the goat ear he offered him. Nkita quickly spat out the goat ear and handed over to him. Mbe chided Nkita for not eating the meat saying that he was only joking, that he wasn’t serious with the demand. He laughed and told others that nkita was behaving like a little child. Nkita agreed to eat the meat but still hid in a corner of his mouth. About half way to the end of the journey, mbe demanded for the demand again. Nkita brought it out again and gave him. Mbe laughed and said nkita is taking it too far. Other animals in their midst pleaded with Nkita to eat the meat, that Mbe was joking. Nkita still placed the meat in a corner of his mouth and they continued their journey.
Now, they reached a small river separating the animal kingdom from the human kingdom. Here, the animals always take a bath to watch off all contamination from interacting with human beings. Mbe told Nkita in the spirit of their new found friendship, they should scoop water and pour in each others mouth. They did this and Mbe used the water to flush the meat down Nkita’s throat. When they finished taking their bath and crossed the river, mbe began to demand for his goat ear again. Nkita kept quite. As they entered the animal kingdom, Mbe started weeping telling everybody that Nkita has eaten his meat. He insisted on having all Nkita’s Mkpi as a replacement. The guy took a good look at my age and told them to get somebody with my experience and competence who should be 25 years. . They are still searching. lets look at the Birthday occurences in the Bible and how they turned out.

Notice verse six: “But when Herod’s birthday was kept…” During the dancing and merry-making at his birthday party, Herod got carried away and eventually made a promise that he did not want to keep. As a result, a great servant of God lost his life.

so really what do Christians mean when they celebrate birthdays?

The CBN has severally disclosed the total exposure of Nigerian banks and their toxic assets. One thing is to sit down and type away on a key board, another is taking pains to find out the true position. Do a little homework on toxic assets of Nigerian banks and come back for a real discussion. I  headed the Finance Desk of a major newspaper for many years and is privy to a lot of info you may not have.
As for Oceanic Bank and others, workers are assessed at regular intervals and those found wanting are relieved of their jobs. This is a regular process in all companies.
For now, no Nigerian bank is in crisis. Some may cut down on staff to reduce overhead but it is not so with Oceanic Bank.

. I am shocked at the O/P. There is no iota of truth in his allegations. The bank made provisions in the 15 months ended December 31, 2008 as required by the CBN. Not only Oceanic Bank , but all the banks are making provisions. The O/P made wild allegations possibly to settle scores. According to the bank's audited results,Oceanic Bank grossed N188.22 billion. The gross earnings rose by 151 percent over N113.28 billion earned at the previous year.( Source; Thisday July 21,page 54 2009).Profit before tax was N53.21 billion. Provisions were made for N42 billion.
Let it be known that provisions are not losses . They are recoverable and when recovered becomes part of profit.
Go thru today's dailies and see provisions made by banks. People should not display their apparent ignorance of financial statement interpretation and analysis for the public to read.
You may be a banker but yet to understand the fine details of financial statement interpretation.Come out with facts and figures of banks not making provisions and I will go the extra mile of posting detailed analysis of various banks and their provisions. The ball is in your court.

Hi Davi,Some of these problems being associated with today's churches started when the early apostles were still alive. Remember; the Greek Jews complained about their widows been discriminated against in the distribution of alms. Acts 6;1-2. So sectarianism is not a new thing. The apostles worked on this issue by appointing the seven deacons. A time came when some of the early xtians were declaring their loyalty to either Paul or Apollos. In several of his letters, Paul had to confront and point out the errors been taught by some xtians at the time.
Going thru first and second Corinthians will throw more light on this. see 2 Corinth 3;1-3There may be mighty miracles in a church yet it is still a baby church.
The Church is shaking the world and will continue to do so until the Lord comes. Despite the imperfections, we are reaching more people than ever before thru radio,TV,internet,travels etc. For many years while in my tiny village, I was being blessed by reading booklets from The Radio Bible Class. These were the first set set of Xtian literature that entered my hands. I was really blessed and learnt a lot from such material, likewise are many people being blessed. Now, billions of people are sharing the glorious gospel via the internet. Now I am at work,and is taking some minutes off to interact with online body of believers. we are having more effects than the early xtians cos of improved means of communications and the kingdom of darkness is not folding its hands. Satan is unleashing all his full arsenal against the xtians. No wonder homosexuals are occupying prominent position in some churches. The bible specified that such things are coming so I am not surprised. The bible talks of reprobates etc.
As for miracles, I started witnessing miracles as a young secondary school boy. Real miracles abound today both in Nigeria and other places. The fact that the fake exists signifies that there is an original version.
Christian should learn how to walk in love, forgive those who offend, be strict and firm on sin. We are not yet there. We are still hindered by flesh and blood. So let these thoughts sober us.

As you stated that you are starting this thread as a fallout of a thread i earlier started and seeing the line of your discourse here let be correct a notion that i might have earlier put across wrongly. Whilst i am not against large churches per se, it is how they achieve this large ness that sometimes bothers me. Though i would not like to derail this thread by stating obvious examples, in the bid to "grow" the church all sorts of false and twisted doctrines are introduced to the gatherings to encourage, stimulate, co-erce, black mail or intimidate christians to give more. They claim they are building a house for God[which actually sounds ridiculous]. Churches go into competition with each other and the focus is eventaully lost. While Jesus was on this planet he had large gatherings which he preached to. [remember sermon on the mount] but he never turned it into a money generation issue whilst claiming he wants to use it to spread the gospel. On the contrary he fed them all when they were hungry[free of charge]. So the focus should not be whether the church is large or not but rather that the church does not succumb to wordly desires whilst claiming that they are trying to serve God.

Uncle Kunle, I am yet to see a perfect church community and in the event you see one, you will be denied membership because no one is perfect yet. The church is for building up xtians. This forum serves as a church in a way. I have learnt a from other xtians and having fellowship with them daily refreshes my soul. Though I am not in agreement with what some of them are saying, I am happy that we are discussing Christ, his church and Heaven . we are not discussing the latest nightclubs, hiphop artists or other worldly topics.

I got saved and started out in a small village fellowship. The beauty there is that all the members know each other. It was a close knit community. Ditto in the campus. I worship with a congregation of about 600 and it is problematic knowing one third of them. Most of the young sisters greet me when we pass on the road or anywhere but always get embarrassed cos I cant recognise them.
So both the big and small churches have their roles in the kingdom

I did a quick run thru the Acts of Apostles to cross check how the early church conducted its activities. Basically, the church went from staying in the upper room to sending missionaries. As the church continued to grow, certain offices like pastor, teacher, evangelist etc became needed to build up the body of Christ. A quick check thru the Pauline epistles would prove this. The early church never remained in the upper room. It moved out. At times, the early Christians met at the sea shore or beach to pray and at another time Paul hired a hall to hold meetings.Acts 19;8. The basic doctrines/teachings/message of Christianity remains unchanged thru the ages but the mode of meetings, means etc continued to be improved in line with changes in the society.
For example, there was no internet in the early church days but we are using it today to have fellowship and build each other up. There is a lot of difference in the Church at the early days and the Church in today's advanced age. Christians should walk with discernment and stop majoring on minors.

My grouse is the modern pentecostal Pastors becoming Bishops and wearing all these orthodox robes and caps.
I have no problem with the Bishop title as it is biblical but the robes are part of what the Pentecostal are adorning. It beats me to the bones why somebody who ought to operate solely according to the Scripture are now copy the same people they kicked against.
