[quote author=pilgrim.1 link=topic=166629.msg2763074#msg2763074 date=1220704933]I'm with you on that - and it's my hope that as we mature in our faith, reason and love will become much more pronounced than outright denunciations.[/quote]You are right on the mark. Maturity in faith enables to see where we are missing it on own part and stop pointing accusing fingers.Severally, I have pointed out that I have good friends from different churches and our point of meeting is love. I attend Christ Embassy but I have good friends from Redeemed, Watchman, Chosen and Deeper. We leave the frills or non essentials of whether to use makeup, deodorant, body spray or head tie and focus on the main commission, the job of soul winning and discipleship. At times, I shudder at the way some xtians tear each other down in the name of proving a point. I posted a case of testimony as well as supplying information as how to locate the testifier, I was labled a non credible source . I just smiled co I know fully that what I posted is true.I think we have a lot that binds us. But for those who feel otherwise, No hard feelings. Maturity is a continuous process and while we are on it, lets save our mouths, sorry fingers from typing all manner of things in trying to put across our points. Love you all |
let me paste the relavant verses in different versions for more clarity. Maybe I will come back and pose some thoughts. Message translation 23 -26Let me go over with you again exactly what goes on in the Lord's Supper and why it is so centrally important. I received my instructions from the Master himself and passed them on to you. The Master, Jesus, on the night of his betrayal, took bread. Having given thanks, he broke it and said, This is my body, broken for you. Do this to remember me. After supper, he did the same thing with the cup: This cup is my blood, my new covenant with you. Each time you drink this cup, remember me. What you must solemnly realize is that every time you eat this bread and every time you drink this cup, you reenact in your words and actions the death of the Master. You will be drawn back to this meal again and again until the Master returns. You must never let familiarity breed contempt. 27 -28Anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Master irreverently is like part of the crowd that jeered and spit on him at his death. Is that the kind of "remembrance" you want to be part of? Examine your motives, test your heart, come to this meal in holy awe. 29 -32If you give no thought (or worse, don't care) about the broken body of the Master when you eat and drink, you're running the risk of serious consequences. That's why so many of you even now are listless and sick, and others have gone to an early grave. If we get this straight now, we won't have to be straightened out later on. Better to be confronted by the Master now than to face a fiery confrontation later. Amplified version 23For I received from the Lord Himself that which I passed on to you [it was given to me personally], that the Lord Jesus on the night when He was treacherously delivered up and while His betrayal was in progress took bread, 24And when He had given thanks, He broke [it] and said, Take, eat. This is My body, which is broken for you. Do this to call Me [affectionately] to remembrance. New Living translation 22 What? Don’t you have your own homes for eating and drinking? Or do you really want to disgrace God’s church and shame the poor? What am I supposed to say? Do you want me to praise you? Well, I certainly will not praise you for this! 23 For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread 24 and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you.[f] Do this to remember me.” 25 In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this to remember me as often as you drink it.” 26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again. 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of sinning against[g] the body and blood of the Lord. 28 That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup. 29 For if you eat the bread or drink the cup without honoring the body of Christ,[h] you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and sick and some have even died. Young literal translation 23For I -- I received from the Lord that which also I did deliver to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was delivered up, took bread, 24and having given thanks, he brake, and said, `Take ye, eat ye, this is my body, that for you is being broken; this do ye -- to the remembrance of me.' 25In like manner also the cup after the supping, saying, `This cup is the new covenant in my blood; this do ye, as often as ye may drink [it] -- to the remembrance of me;' 26for as often as ye may eat this bread, and this cup may drink, the death of the Lord ye do shew forth -- till he may come; 27so that whoever may eat this bread or may drink the cup of the Lord unworthily, guilty he shall be of the body and blood of the Lord: 28and let a man be proving himself, and so of the bread let him eat, and of the cup let him drink; 29for he who is eating and drinking unworthily, judgment to himself he doth eat and drink -- not discerning the body of the Lord. 25Similarly when supper was ended, He took the cup also, saying, This cup is the new covenant [ratified and established] in My blood. Do this, as often as you drink [it], to call Me [affectionately] to remembrance. 26For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are representing and signifying and proclaiming the fact of the Lord's death until He comes [again]. 27So then whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in a way that is unworthy [of Him] will be guilty of [profaning and sinning against] the body and blood of the Lord. 28Let a man [thoroughly] examine himself, and [only when he has done] so should he eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29For anyone who eats and drinks without discriminating and recognizing with due appreciation that [it is Christ's] body, eats and drinks a sentence (a verdict of judgment) upon himself. |
[quote author=pilgrim.1 link=topic=166753.msg2864682#msg2864682 date=1222591388]Okay, for all that, why "messenger angel?"[/quote] There are testimonies from different parts of the world of folks' lives being changed by using the lessons in the devotional. The bible lessons are designed to impact on different aspects of a man's life. Now, You or my self may not be able to reach such people, butsomehow, a copy gets to them. So it comes as a bearer of good news, the same some of the exhortations on the e-xtian fellowship on Nairaland. I have heard a testimony of how reading a small xtian booklet written by a Nigerian author saved a man in Germany. Now the author had not been to Germany before but somebody from Nigeria somehow gave the booklet to the man and there was a change. The author of the booklet is Pastor Cosmas Ilechukwu of Charismatic Renewal Ministries. In essence, that small book was a bearer of good news and ministered to the man in Germany that God loves him despite the circumstances. It is in that context that Rhapsody is dubbed messenger angel. It is not dubbed messenger angel in the context of heavenly angelic beings. It is in the context of the Bible lessons it contains and reaching places we may not physical reach. |
Hmm,I missed the Reach Out Nigeria campaign because of work. This is the second time i am missing because of work |
Yesterday, I remembered this song.It is the journey of the xtian. 1. I'm pressing on the upward way, New heights I'm gaining every day; Still praying as I onward bound, "Lord, plant my feet on higher ground." Chorus Lord, lift me up, and let me stand, By faith, on heaven's table-land, A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground. 2. My heart has no desire to stay Where doubts arise and fears dismay; Tho' some may dwell where these abound, My prayer, my aim, is higher ground 3. I want to live above the world Tho' Satan's darts at me are hurled; For faith has caught the joyful sound, The song of saints on higher ground. 4. I want to scale the upmost height, And catch a glimpse of glory-bright; But still I'll pray till Heav'n I've found, "Lord, plant my feet on higher ground." This song inspires me any time I sing or hear it being sung. I beg, is it song, sang or sung. I tire for this oyibo ![]() |
father thank you for our dear sister Bisi in Jesus name. We thank you for all those who prayed for her. Bless them also at the point of their needs in Jesus name amen. |

I love that old classic by John Bunyan. Read even the pictorial one meant for sunday school kids. very precious. Some brethren borrowed it and now, But, how do you squeeze time to write? you dey try oh. and you got it up stairs .I have a song, 1. 2. Gamine:Aha, you should know by now. I have contributed to other threads where i stated it. Christ Embassy. |
Gamine: Attend Nairaland xtian fellowship. of course, we are members. ![]() Well, It is always like that but try to settle down. we exhorted not to forsake the gathering together of the brethren. Pilgrim1 can help locate a place of worship. or should I invite you to where I worship . |
KunleOshob:Let me first and foremost give you a view into my back ground, I was a journalist with one of the leading national Newspapers located on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. I quit journalism in Oct 2007. So I understand the way and behaviour of Journalists when reporting. From the same event, you would see conflicting reports and wonder what happened. If i am to be a pastor, I will not allow them to cover events in the church i pastor. They can attend the service and take notes like any other person. Officially invite them, no. Second. There is no need for you to believe me. Just believe God.simple. The whole essence of our believing is God and not in fellow mortals . Like I usually point out, I have friends that range from Catholics to Anglicans, Lord's Chosen, Deeper Life. Our point of contact is Jesus saves and the love of God. Third.I will never fabricate testimonies to prove a point. I only directed Naira landers to a journalist who i met in the course of pen pushing who testified to some of us what happened to him. Up till now , Pastor Chris doesn't know about the testimony. I will post the requisite testimonies in due time. This is about a national figure healed in may. People have seen him in the past very sick. Details soon ![]() Fourth. The Healing School is more of a place for teachings and bible study series on Faith. I have seen churches call their bible study sessions School of the word while others adopt school of faith, digging deep etc. It sounds funny to see what commotion different names for the same thing causes. I told a lady in my office that her church has a camp ground in my mother's village, she protested seriously and said it is called assembly ground. Well, what is the difference between six and half a dozen. Fifth. In all, let love be the focal point. It is not Chris work, Not my own work< not Naira landers or Seun's work but God's work. He is the final arbiter. |
And If I give you clues to get access to medical records of those healed in such crusades or healing school, what will you do? The truth is, even if some see cripples getting up from wheel chairs, they wont even believe. Just relax, I will soon post some testimonies again. Last time, I posted the name of the group business editor of a Major newspaper healed when Pastor Chris mentioned his case in a telecast. I gave the name and said people should copy his number from the page he writes. More to come. Jesus is Lord |
davidylan:Were the parents of the man born blind present during his healing? well, if a man lies in the name of God, It should be between him and God. I dont see the line of your argument. You have the right to believe what ever you prefer simple |
Carlosein:Today's reading is a reflection of what goes on in our society. Our leaders want us to bow to them as they repair public infrastructures or provide the basic necessities of life. Not doing good when we are to do it is sinful. During the celebration of the mass, the priest leads us in the confession statement and we say, for I have sinned through my thoughts, words and deeds and through leaving undone the good deeds I am supposed to do. Though this a paraphrase of the prayer, I think if our leaders in Nigeria should pray and take time to reflect on it, they will pay more attention to the good of the common man. Think of the good deeds of road construction left undone, who then is responsible for hundreds that perish on such roads. The list is endless. It is time they realise that leaving goods deeds undone is sin. |
Carlosein:Well, the rules made by the church are designed to teach us self control, to bring our bodies under the control of the spirit. But as time went on, some of us decided to move on. Actually, I joined one of the charismatic groups in the church and then . you understand . I had a swell time time with the charismatics. We were at St Patricks Awka i think in 1985 for eastern regional conference. However, persecution arose from here and there from people who want to subdue us. |
Carlosein:feel to rollick with you people . Also i have eaten meat on the days the church debars faithfulls fro meat consumption. . Well, i am gone but still remembers my catechism. |
Lindiwe: |

How is Bisi? gosh, I neck deep in work that i couldn't inquire of her. Father thank you for healing our dear sister Bisi. Thank you for the gift of medical science and the ability to pray.Thank you for the understanding that we pray and expect results. Thank you also for all who have prayed for Bisi in Jesus name amen. |
idupaul:and please supply concrete and scriptural proofs that these men are fake. |
Father we thank you for hearing us. Thank you for your mercies and grace in Jesus name. as Bisi recovers, she shall continue to be a testimony |
Ah, I used to think that Pilgrim is a She . abeg, make una clear the air |
![]() me no understand why the poster started this thread. every pastor is working to hear well done, good and faithful servant. |
I am touched by Bisi Olofinyo's condition. |
I am not a member of TB's church. Never come in close contact to him but please what qualifies him to be fake? Substantiate your answers with relevant bible verses. Enough of name calling without strong evidence. I don't repeat what people say unless they bring forth their evidence. |
Haba. pocket your money if you don't want to give your tithe. Tighten your purse if you dont want to give offering.period.Nobody will drag out of a church cos of tithe.I do give my own and will continue to do so. I give my tithe cos I love God and want to see His work progress. |
Tgirl4real:It is becoming fashionable for people to say and post what they are not sure of. Tgirl4real be sure of your facts. When xtians embark on name calling without facts, I get amazed. How many people have you interviewed and they told you that Pst. Chris manipulated them? He is not looting his members. At least I am one and I know how the church operates. I am a regular at the blog owned by a top member or pastor of Crown. I deliberately refrained from posting there but sent him a mail when one issue came up. and I repeat what I mailed to him, "be sure of your facts before posting". lest on the last day or when Christ comes, we are found to have borne false witnesses. Xtians should not just run their mouths for the sake of bashing or speaking. |
Pilgrim1. I feel you. You may wonder why some BLW members go beyond the bend at times. The level of name calling among xtians on some threads is mind boggling. So guys who are not yet matured can go off the cuff. despite being persecuted severely by my dad when i got born again and left the catholic church, i still love the old man. i am very proud of him . at least he sent me to school. so just say anything against him and the rest is, .will get back to you later |
If people ask questions and engage BLW brethren on issues they haven't made clear, all of a sudden non-BLW brethren are of the devil, not so? It is the same Scripture we are discussing - and if you make an unclear statement and are called upon it, why should the enquirer be "of the devil" simply because of that? Did people not ask the Lord Jesus Christ numerous questions? Did He accuse them all of being "of the devil" because they asked questions as regards the above, i may not know the number of BLW members you have interacted with or the level of their maturity. Like I stated in another thread, I am a member of Christ Embassy or BLW. I have serious friends from Deeper life, Watchman, Lord's Chosen, Anglicans and Catholics. I focus on the common faith that was once delivered to the believers. I believe in divine healing, health, prosperity. The salvation package includes all these and even more. But i have met people who insist that salvation package is strictly for being born again and then what ever we see in life we take. to cement their position, they refer to Eccs. , time and chance happen to them all. well, i strive and endeavour to walk in love. i may win the argument but not the heart of the person. the ultimate is heaven which should be the goal and end point of every xtian. however, i have seen a lot of unnecessary name calling in here and a number of blogs. this should not be the spirit. Like i told one Jehovah Witness in my office who accused me of believing things that are not realistic, i believed with my own heart and not her own. So pilgrim1, at Christ embassy, we dd not embark on name calling. |
This is Naija. we dey for Naija. anything fit happen. ![]() |
