CFCfan: I'll be rooting for France on Tuesday. With the likes of Pogba, Varane ( a very good defender), Benzema, Giroud and Ribery; Spain will find it tough.
The 1st leg in Spain ended 1-1, with Giroud scoring the equalizer with virtually the last touch of that match.

Allez Les Bleus grin
I predict a 3-1 win by Spain. With Pedro and Villa both getting on the score sheet.

CFCfan: Na coincidence o. grin

That result makes Tuesday's clash between France and Spain all the more important. If France win, they'll go FIVE points above world and European champions, Spain.
Spain would win them. I'm rooting for Spain, Argentina and ofcourse my Naija in this worldcup. I know they would all qualify. smiley

The way you are going on about it, it's obvious it is simply a tool for diversion, a sort of defensive mechanism. "They say I worship Mary, lemme accuse them of worshipping something too. What do I use o.... Yes! The bible!"

This thread is for Mary worship and my question is very simple and not off topic, but since you have refused to answer, no problemo. smiley

You guys teach infallibility of the pope and the church in any matter, the absoluteness of the catholic creed, but classify holding the bible as an authority as 'worship'? Amazing!
u can do better.... d definitions made mention of a fervent request. do i need to lecture you abt english its restrictions? how a word can have more dan a meaning?
how compensate can mean to make up for, to pay, to adjust... or do u lose ur thinking cap wen if comes to matters concerning catholic? i even gave eg of how pray was used in d ancient days..

moving . on abeg
lol... Losing my thinking cap. Hmmm... That's an attempt at evading my question, right? I'm not an enemy o. Have nothing against you. It's just the doctrine I have something against.

In your post, you maintained that prayer is not linked to worship. Of course 'object of worship' in the definition(s) proved you wrong.

You tried to imply (with your history lessons) that the meaning and usage of the term does not denote something exclusive to God. The Catholic encyclopaedia's definition proved you wrong again.

You tried to brush off claims that you guys give Mary worshipful honor, and I asked a simple question in logic. Your Catholic encyclopaedia I quoted defined prayer as an act of asking gifts or grace from God. You guys pray for intercession from Mary and the saints too. When did they become God?
Christianity Etc › Re: In Jesus Name, All Knees Bow; In Mary's Name, What Happens? by Oahray: 9:56pm On Mar 22, 2013
Forgive me if this post looks untidy. I'm on mobile.
Most of u think "pray" means "worship." So Let's look up the word "pray" in the dictionary.Webster's:

(1)  To utter petition to God ... (2) To make a fervent request: PLEAD (3)  To beseech: implore (4) to make a devout or earnest request for.

The first thing to notice is that the word "worship" is not included in the definition of "pray." It does not mean "worship." A prayer to Mary is clearly not a petition to God. Mary is not God, and there is not one faithful Catholic since the apostles who has said she is. So clearly it is not the first meaning.

I understand that given your shorter history, prayer is only and always directed to God lipsrsealed lipsrsealed
Isn't it funny how you cut off some parts of the Merriam definition? I hope it wasn't intentional though.

Pray (intransitive verb)
: to make a request in a humble manner
: to address God or a god with adoration, confession, supplication, or thanksgiving
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pray
now lets see the definition of 'prayer' in some of the best online dictionaries and compare with catholic renditions.

Definition of PRAYER
a (1) : an address (as a petition) to God or a
god in word or thought <said a prayer for
the success of the voyage> (2) : a set order
of words used in praying
b : an earnest request or wish
: the act or practice of praying to God or a god <kneeling in prayer>
: a religious service consisting chiefly of
prayers —often used in plural
: something prayed for
: a slight chance <haven't got a prayer>
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/prayer
prayer 1 Pronunciation (prâr)
n.
1.
a. A reverent petition made to
God, a god, or another object of
worship.
b. The act of making a reverent
petition to God, a god, or
another object of worship.

2. An act of communion with God, a god, or another object of worship, such as in devotion, confession, praise, or thanksgiving:
3. A specially worded form used to
address God, a god, or another object of worship.
4. prayers A religious observance in which praying predominates:
morning prayers.
5.
a. A fervent request: Her prayer
for rain was granted at last.
b. The thing requested: His safe
arrival was their only prayer.
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/_/dict.aspx?word=prayer
Found this on a catholic website:
Question: What Is Prayer?
Prayer is a form of communication, a way of
talking to God or to the saints .
http://catholicism.about.com/od/prayers/f/What_Is_Prayer.htm
comparing this definition with the others above, it is obvious the 'saints' replaces the 'gods' and 'objects of worship'.

Now this is how the catholic encyclopedia defines prayer:
(Greek euchesthai, Latin precari, French prier, to plead, to beg, to ask earnestly).
An act of the virtue of religion which consists in asking proper gifts or graces from God . In a more general sense it is the application of the mind to Divine things, not merely to acquire a knowledge of them but to make use of such knowledge as a means of union with God . This may be done by acts of praise and thanksgiving, but petition is the principal act of prayer.
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12345b.htm
If you define prayer as an act rendered TO GOD and then you go ahead to pray TO SAINTS (including Mary), what is the logical conclusion that can be drawn? TELL ME.

falamangaa: If you know anything about Africa, most folks are poor. The trend is kinda similar in most African countries. Most data is actually online( you don't really need to travel anywhere), and most African countries including Kenya and Nigeria have done a very poor job in job creation. There are slums in Kenya, and Nigeria like in many other African countries.

<1 % Super Rich
10-20% Middle class
20% struggling between middle class & poor
59% Poor or stable but struggling.

So please apply that to your population of 150 Million plus. There's probably 40 - 88 Million folks, and included in that number you can say roughly 40M are really poor that like the whole of Kenya.

So Nigeria has more Aids patients than Kenya. Just by the statistics.
Lmao... Nigerians cannot have positively more AIDS patients than Kenya the home of AIDS. The only thing positive about Kenya is HIV grin

belabela: To add to the topic. Mary was like a surrogate mother. Modern science has shown us that it is possible for a woman to carry a child without having any DNA contribution to the child. i.e the father and the mother of the baby in her womb is not the carrier of the baby. Her only duty will be to carry her for 9 months. She has no genetic contribution to the child. Mary was like that but blessed to carry in her womb the son of God. She was equally blessed to raise him up. Claiming that Jesus got her humanity from Mary is bogus
God bless you! smiley

when did I become angel Gabriel or God? I cannot read hearts (and neither can you). Even if I can, how many women do I know amongst the possibly billions alive?

Saying there are no good women today is just presumptuousness on your part.
