xynerise: Catholic is the first church and Peter is the first pope. The catholic church was formed by the apostles of Jesus.
That's not true. Jesus followers simply belonged to 'the way', and afterwards were called christians. The church/congregation was named by location, eg church in Ephesus, Sardis, etc. The catholic church began at least a century after and many doctrines became official some centuries after.

Peter could not have been the first pope because Peter was fallible, denying Jesus while he was still on earth and even engaging in pretence after Jesus had gone to heaven, acts for which he genuinely repented; but catholic doctrine holds that the pope is infallible.

xynerise: Name one woman in this present world that have her qualities?
huh? What qualities? huh Are there no humble, God-fearing virgin ladies today?

The angel Gabriel called her 'highly favoured', meaning the honour of birthing the messiah was given her not because she deserved it, but because of God's grace towards her. You guys really need to stop trying to make her a goddess.

xynerise: My friend close your mouth. You guys that worship your pastors and even use their name to pray. "Let the god of....... answer my prayer". You even put your pastor's picture in your sitting room and toilets. So what how will you explain that?
haha... Good point. That's like what I told a friend the other day. Any time we discuss the bible, for every verse I quote to back up my statements, he has up to three "my pastor said" to counter it, even when it's glaring.

He also tries to talk like his pastor too. The dude practically worships his pastor, though he would not admit, just as some people would not admit to worshiping Mary even after kneeling or bowing before her image and praying to her.

chukwudi44: I even thought I was arguing with fellow xtians before now.No wonder !! I didn't realise you are under a very strong satanic hold
lol... If you cannot refute a man's argument, all hope is not lost, you can still call him vile names. Keep insulting me for doctrines that are not biblical.
Christianity Etc › Re: In Jesus Name, All Knees Bow; In Mary's Name, What Happens? by Oahray:
chukwudi44: Direct your kweshions to God who asked the isrealites to look up to a mere 'bronze serpent' instead just healing them.

Did the isrealites worship the bronze serpent? Yes or no
lol. Fallacy upon fallacy. Alright, going by your own twisted logic, God told Israelites to offer animal sacrifice, therefore it is not out of place to offer animal sacrifices today.

The copper serpent forshadowed the Christ (not Mary) as Jesus said in John 3:13-15.
The Israelites simply had to gaze at it, and no form of worship was involved.

2 Kings 18:4 shows that the Israelites later started sacrificing to it, and Hezekiah had it destroyed as part of his reforms.

That said, it's amazing how easily you guys nitpick the scriptures.

The Israelites had the Ark of the covenant. Do we?

The Israelites offered animal sacrifices and grain offerings. Do we?

The Israelites had Moses as their mediator. Do we?

The Israelites were guided by Mosaic laws which condoned some things Christ rejected, like 'hating your enemies' or 'bloodshed'.

If you are truly Christian, then you should be guided by the new convenant which was built on Love (God and Christ's love for us), mediated by Christ, and sealed by his shed blood.

Mary was an imperfect human like us, favoured with the blessing of birthing the messiah, she was not elevated to any special position deserving of worshipful honor by Jesus or his 1st century followers.
Jesus is the way and the truth and the life. Look up to him today, not Mary.

chukwudi44: Luke 20:36-38

New International Version (NIV)

36 and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection. 37 But in the account of the burning bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’[a] 38 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.

Jesus have said it all Mary is not dead but alive !! She is in heaven and in a far better position to pray for me than adeboye or honeric or frosbel
I'd skip the fallacious untruth in your post so it doesn't lead to derailing.

How does this your argument even justify kneeling in front of a statue of her and addressing her in something we call 'prayer to God'?

If you address someone in a prayer, you are praying TO him or her. In a nutshell, you kneel in front of an image representing Mary, praying TO her to pray FOR you.
Christianity Etc › Re: In Jesus Name, All Knees Bow; In Mary's Name, What Happens? by Oahray: 11:06am On Mar 22, 2013
But honestly, one who accepts the Trinity doctrine cannot rightly fault this doctrine of the Intercession of Mary. I guess the logic is: "if Jesus is the same as his Almighty Father, then Mary is the mother of the Almighty, and therefore should be prayed to".

The false Trinity doctrine is at the root of all this. BTW is the trinitarian 'God' that hardhearted that his 'mother' has to beg for us before he hears? huh

PAGAN Stufffffffffffffffffffff
lol... Pics can only change the mind of unbiased onlooker, not one who is busy tagging everyone a fool in the most hateful manner possible. I think it's a defensive mechanism though.

For me (with Bible backing), using an image of whoever or whatever, kneeling or bowing down to it as part of worship (especially when praying) to God is idolatory. Pray only to God, THROUGH Jesus.

Hmmm... Tricky. Depending on which you use as your base (yesterday or tomorrow), the answer could be either wednesday or sunday.

From the question, it seems to me that 'tomorrow' is the fixed one (base) and 'yesterday' can be varied to become 'tomorrow'. Since the day is friday, 'tomorrow' is saturday. Now if 'yesterday' was saturday, he was speaking on sunday.

Hmmm... Has anyone ever been converted in a Nairaland religious argument? Most times it ends with one or both sides hurling insults. I don't see how it's going to change on this thread. Few things are harder to change than deeply entrenched religious beliefs.

Shollypopz: You really do need to stop saying Nigeria reeks of crap, u might want to specify or state strategically the crapy things in Nigeria than say Nigeria reeks of crap. A country is nothing without it's people. Saying Nigeria reeks of crap is simply saying Ogugaua reeks of crap. Just like ur crappy comment above, Oguagua reeks of sh1t and senseless-ill though out crap.

Do you read your post before u post them, it might save u from appearing st*upid. "They started a trend on twitter"..The trend that was started was to diss Nigerians, agree?? Kenyans were encouraging other Kenyans to join in this trend and they started making fun of Nollywood and sh1t. Nigerians replied with their own trend mainly to retaliate. If the Kenyan trend(#SomeonetellNigeria) didn't mean battle, why are u blaming the Nigerian trend(#someonetellKenyans) for starting a battle. All na trend naw! In case you don't have a dictionary, a patriotic Nigerian is not someone that calls a spade a spade but someone that his/her actions and expressions are inspired by the love for his/her country. Calling a spade a spade is an individualistc value. #Truth!

Do you really think in that your dull mind that some senseless twit fight between Nigerians and Kenyans is suppose to cause some sort of economic damage?? Do you really think in that ur head that a trend on twitter was better than making a complaint to the right body about the situation of Kenyan players??

Kenyan and Nigeria are third world countries, you tolerate mediocrity every goddamn time you say u're a Nigerian.

Ok you escaped being scammed by a 'dumb fraudster' with God's intervention.

So what is the point of this post? It teaches us:

(a) Not to read our text messages.

(b) Read our text messages but not load any card in it.

(c) Read our text messages, load recharge pin(s) in it and call the sender scam when it turns out the pins ('mistakenly sent' to us) do not exist.

Before you answer, what if you had loaded it and discovered it was real? Would you have refunded?
