FamilyRe: Why Do We Marry? by OAM4J: 11:30pm On Dec 06, 2009
Oma1414:
I think getting children outside marriage is an act of irresponsibility and may create disunited family. Imagine children who came from broken homes, the feeling of love and togetherness is not there. Beside, according to christian faith, its bad. An unmarried man n woman staying together are most likely going to fornicate. which is obviously a sin. Its good to be married, i for one am not but am planning to do so. Just get the right one and u will enjoy it.
There is nothing irresponsible in having children outside marriage if you are able to cater for them. I think there are lot more irresponsible fathers who though are married but are not catering for thier children

I know lots of people who grew up from a broken home and are doing so well. So that is not enough excuse to marry.

Marrying because it is a sin to sleep together unmarried, has to do with your faith and believe. Not everybody is a chirsitian or muslim you know. And it also mean the reason why you are getting married is because God does not permit you to have sex outside marriage.
PoliticsRe: C-river Abolishes First School Certificate by OAM4J: 10:22pm On Dec 06, 2009
Good development. Should also be encourage in all the states especially the Northern States. Imagine in 2009 someone being proud of First School Leaving Certificate.
Car TalkRe: Aba Ingenuity-people’s Creativity Rebuilds Banned Okada In Aba To Tricycles by OAM4J: 7:36pm On Dec 06, 2009
Matin:
I can imagine, Tricycle, like soldier ants in the city shocked. Pls let your discovery in Aba remain with u in Aba grin grin grin
If you can imagine millions of Okadas all over Nigeria, I think thousands of these will be safer and better.
Car TalkRe: Aba Ingenuity-people’s Creativity Rebuilds Banned Okada In Aba To Tricycles by OAM4J: 7:30pm On Dec 06, 2009
What they need is government support. I dont know what all those ministries of transportations both at the federal and state level are doing. They should simply set standards that will guarantee safety. I mean this is a brilliant idea, keeps people with jobs. I learn the imported tri-cycles cost as much as N350,000. So if they can complete this with just N120,000 - N150,000, I think its brilliant.
PoliticsRe: I Pity Dora by OAM4J: 7:11pm On Dec 06, 2009
The problem of Dora is that she is in the wrong administration at the wrong time. Her efforts would have been appreciated if she is working with a performing administration. Just imagine her doing same thing for Lagos state. People will applaud her efforts.
PoliticsRe: Yaradua May Not Return To Nigeria This Year by OAM4J: 6:58pm On Dec 06, 2009
nuzo:
Funny how you are calling for the resignation of Dora whose office has little or no weight in Nigeria's development, but couldnt first call for the resignation of an indisposed, very sick and incompetent president. Ok ooo.

So that you should know, I have always thought that Dora should resign based on moral grounds, otherwise, she could pass for one of the best information ministers Nigeria has ever produced.
I think so too. I think Dora is in the wrong administration at the wrong time.
FamilyRe: 37-year Old Grandma Seeks Divorce: Disadvantage Of Early Marriage by OAM4J: 7:00am On Dec 06, 2009
Nchara:
A grandmother, Mrs. Kehinde Alabi, 37, has asked the Igando Customary Court in Alimoso Local Government Area of Lagos State, to dissolve her 19-year old marriage to her 63-year old husband, Kadiri.

She told the court further that the marriage produced five children—Sikirat, 17; Aishat, 16; Suliat, 13; Sherif, 12 and eight-year old Taofik.
She is 37 married for 19 years means she got married at age 37-19= 18

Ist child is 17 means she had her ist child at age 37-17 = 20

So the problem is not with the grandmother. but the daughter who is already with a child at age 17. all the same not too early cos I know girls in the northern part of Nigeria get married as early as 13.

kitty kat:
I won't, Cos I have been there and I didn't do it.

My present guy has been my friend from skul. Started working b4 me. Even then we were not dating but he was always there for me. When I had cash issues which no one could help me,  he did it evn with his last kobo,

So when I got my job which the pay was huge and suddenly I was travelling around the world. He works in one of the multinationals but I am earning 7times what he is earning. He said he expected me to stop talking to him cos thats the normal thing most chicks do and he said he would hv understood. But I told him there's no way I can do that. This was someone who stood by me all the way. Even when I was preparing for the job interviews and exams he helped me prepare, coached me. There was no way I could ever ever leave him.

So we are finally engaged though I know sometimes he is a bit uncomfy abt the money issues but I try to let him know that if he claims we r one then my success is his success too. And I am doing my best to support him to achieve his dreams and I want him to be in a better position than me tomorrow.
If this is true, then pls keep it up. i will say your kind is few.

Good you are changing your mind. It is legal if you are both adult, you only need 2 witnesses. But it is not advisable. It is good to have the parental consent and blessings.

People ae marrying and yet not sure why thare marrying.
Is more of a programmed thing Fhemmy. Go to school, graduate, get a job, settle down, have children get old and die. Many people are not really asking the question why?

Some women will give away their husbands for nothing, giving them money will be a bonus.
PoliticsRe: Are You All Not Tribalists? by OAM4J: 1:57am On Dec 06, 2009
I think what the OP should do is to discourage people form bashing other tribes especially with false impressions. I am proud of my tribe (don’t know if that makes me a tribalist), and it will be difficult for me (and I guess for many as well as it already shown in this thread) to see others portraying a false image/impression about my tribe and not respond.

In my tribe it is said only a bas-tard will ignore an insult directed to his father's house. I will only ignore if I realize joining issues might make me look like the obvious fool spreading the false impression on my tribe.
PoliticsRe: Drop Your Prayer Request For The President! by OAM4J: 12:58am On Dec 06, 2009
Oh God! how I love Nigeria. You made me a Nigerian. So I pray:

Lord, remember thousands/millions of Nigerians dying of malaria and other ailments now, remember many homeless Nigerians, remember many families in Nigeria who cannot afford a meal a day, remember all those who drop out of school because of lack of fund and remember thousands of Nigerian graduates who cannot find a job.

Please Lord, deal with everyone in government now or before now who contributed to all the above. Deal with all the enemies of progress of this nation.

As for Yar'adua give him wisdom and courage to make a good choice for his life and for Nigeria and finally, deal with all the selfish people misleading Yar'adua now and turn their counsels to foolishness.

Amen. (if you agree with my prayer please say Amen)
