WHO DECIDES THE NAMES?
The lists are maintained by the World Meteorological Organization; the names are ones that are familiar in each region.

Names are taken off the list and replaced to avoid confusion if a hurricane causes a lot of damage or deaths.

For example, Katrina was retired after it devastated New Orleans in 2005.

The Philippines has its own naming system, so Typhoon Haiyan is also being called Yolanda.

STRENGTH:
A storm gets a name and is considered a tropical storm at 39 mph (63 kph).

It becomes a hurricane, typhoon, tropical cyclone, or cyclone at 74 mph (119 kph).

There are five strength categories, depending on wind speed.

The highest category is 5 and that's above 155 mph (249 kph). Australia has a different system for categorizing storm strength.

ROTATION:
If they are north of the equator they rotate counterclockwise. If they are south, they rotate clockwise.

HURRICANE? CYCLONE? TYPHOON?: 
They're all the same, officially tropical cyclones. But they just use distinctive terms for a storm in different parts of the world.

Hurricane is used in the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, central and northeast Pacific.

They are typhoons in the northwest Pacific.

In the Bay of Bengal and the Arabia Sea, they are called cyclones.

Tropical cyclone is used in the southwest India Ocean.

In the southwestern Pacific and southeastern India Ocean they are severe tropical cyclones.

Since there are no human drivers, the Automated Guided Vehicles are controlled using management and navigation software and transponders that is buried on the terminal road surface.

This Automated Guided Vehicles is somehow similar to the newly unveiled Volvo Vela truck .

The Volvo's wireless network-controlled Vela can carry containers weighing up to 32 tons (~29,000kg) across large manufacturing and shipping ports.

The Automated Guided Vehicles are faster and also equipped with a guard to prevent the containers from falling.

Volvo has unveiled its self-driving and cabless truck (with no passenger compartment) called Vera .The concept truck can be attached to any standard trailers.

This Automated Valet Parking (AVP) Concept at the Mercedes-Benz Museum garage in Stuttgart, was jointly developed by Bosch and Daimler.

It was designed to find free space in the parking garage,drive and park cars without any human intervention.

The Museum garage has various sensors and cameras that monitors how the garage is being used,where there are free spaces and also detects unexpected obstacles or persons in the car’s path.

But you can’t just park any car and expect it to be driven off to a free space. Starting this year, the qualified cars will have updated software to use the vehicle’s sensors.

The vehicle equipment includes the automatic gearbox, Electronic Stability Program, electric parking brake and steering assistance, a start/stop function and a communication unit.

Daimler and Bosch are also testing this technology at the Mercedes Chinese research center, in Beijing.

The aim of the Mercedes/Bosch technology is to provide accident and stress-free parking solutions for its customers.

A popular Chinese restaurant chain has lost around $190m (₦68.9b in Nigerian Naira or £145m) in market value after a pregnant woman found a dead rat in her soup.

Hotpot restaurant Xiabu Xiabu's stock hit its lowest level in almost a year, after photos of the dead rat being fished out of the broth with a pair of chopsticks quickly spread online.

The outlet in Shandong province has now been temporarily suspended.

The outlet reportedly offered her 5,000 yuan (£559, $729) as compensation.

According to local news outlet Kankan News who spoke to her husband - identified as Mr Ma - he declined the offer, as he wanted his wife to undergo a full body check-up before deciding on a compensation amount.

The pregnant woman who had been out for hotpot with her family on 6 September, found the dead rat in her meal after she had already taken a few bites from the dish.

Mr Ma also alleged that one of the staff had suggested his wife get an abortion if she was worried about the baby's health, and offered him 20,000 yuan for the procedure.

Photos of the boiled rat quickly spread on Chinese social media site Weibo, where users reacted with anger and disgust.

"I feel like vomiting. I'm never going to eat hotpot outside again," said one user.

On 11 September, the company's share price hit its lowest level since October last year. As of Wednesday, the hotpot restaurant's market value is slowly recovering.

"Xiabu Xiabu has always been one of my favourite restaurants, I thought they were quite clean as well... I can't believe this," another commented.

"If something happens to her baby how are they going to compensate her? Is a life worth only 20,000 yuan?" one asked.

The restaurant initially put out a statement on Saturday saying that it had "ruled out" the possibility that a lack of hygiene had caused the rat to end up in the hotpot, but later deleted it.

Authorities in Weifang city, the restaurant branch where the rat was found, said they would conduct investigations into Xiabu Xiabu's restaurant.

This is the moment nine lionesses brutally attacked a lion in front of horrified visitors.

Shocking footage shows the pack of females tearing their teeth into the leader of the pride's flesh at West Midlands Safari Park.

Safari workers at the enclosure in Bewdley, Worcs., had to step in and spray fire extinguishers at the beasts to break up the ferocious attack after the male was left covered in blood.

It is conceivable the lionesses were trying to kill their leader because he was too old to run the pride.

However Mya Beverstock, who caught the attack on film, said the females may have pounced on him after a dispute over food.

She said: "It pretty much happened out of the blue. It was feeding time and then suddenly we heard growling and roaring.

"Two other males stepped back and didn't get involved while the females attacked the leader. He may have ate before his turn."

She added:"Safari workers dealt with it very quickly. Three jeeps ended up in the enclosure honking their horns and driving towards the lions to break them up.

"One of the jeeps sprayed them with a fire extinguisher which ended up mostly breaking up the fight.

"We did go around the park again afterwards and all the female lions had been removed from the enclosure and it was only the three males in there."

Luckily, the lion who was pounced on survived the brutal attack.

Russia will stop flying U.S. NASA astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) in April 2019.

NASA's ability to fly astronauts to the ISS since the close of the Space Shuttle Program on July 21, 2011 has forced them to pay $81 million (₦29billion) per seat on the Russia's Soyuz to fly astronauts to and from the station.

Russia's Deputy Prime Minister reportedly said the return flight of a Soyuz-MS next year "will finalize the fulfillment of our obligation under a contract with NASA."

The close of this agreement coincides with the time that NASA and its commercial partners (Boeing and SpaceX ) hope to conduct the first test flights of so-called "space taxis" to the orbiting lab.

Amidst worsening relations between Russia and the United States and Russia, NASA wants Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft and SpaceX’s Crew Dragon to carry astronauts into space by awarding a $6.8 billion (₦2.5trillion) contract to them.

But since the new crew-carrying vehicles are still under development, the move may leave the U.S. unable to send astronauts to the ISS or force them to extend the very expensive ₦29billion per seat contract with Russia.

Toyota is recalling more than a million of its popular Prius and C-HR Crossover Worldwide due to the risk of fire.

The affected 1.03 million cars, which are manufactured between June 2015 and May 2018, have wiring issues that could lead to electric fire.

Toyota discovered the wire harness that is connected to the power control unit is at risk of wear over time due to vehicle vibrations.

This could cause electrical short circuit that could generate enough heat to start an electrical fire.

In 2016, the Japanese Automaker also recalled some 2.87 million cars including the Prius for leaky fuel tanks.

Production of the C-HR Crossover (which stands for Compact High  Rider, Cross Hatch Run or Coupe High–Rider) started in November 2016 and replaces the XA30 RAV4.

Toyota said no injuries has been reported and that the affected cars will have a protective sleeve added to the engine wire harness if the wire core is exposed.

According to viewers on social media, the footage was captured at the Al-Rahma mosque in Liverpool. Mane is a devout Muslim and celebrates goals by performing sujood - touching his head on the floor and worshipping.

The 26-year-old grew up in the small village of Bambali, in the south of Senegal, where his father was the imam at the local mosque.

When a Senegalese reporter visited the region after Mane signed for Liverpool in 2016, he was told that the former Southampton winger had recently paid for the mosque to be reconstructed.
