But today, the 50 brave souls who crammed themselves into a 1974 VolsWagon camper van will reap their reward as their effort sees them immortalised in the latest Guinness World Records book.

The van, which is designed to take a maximum of six people, was not altered or modified for the attempt, and none of the seats were removed. Despite this, the 50 record breakers managed to squash themselves into the 168.5in-long van in front of a crowd of admiring – if somewhat baffled – onlookers at Busfest, a specialist VW Van Festival, in 2015.

The effort was organised by Comfort Insurance to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Jaguar Land Rover(JLR) has become the latest car manufacturer to announce its commitment to going green, with plans to launch only electric or hybrid lines from 2020.

From 2020,drivers will be able to buy any Jaguar car or Land Rover sport utility vehicles as an electric, plug-in hybrid or so-called mild hybrid, chief executive of JLR, which is owned by India’s Tata, said.

The move comes amid mounting pressure from governments to cut emission, and follows a similar commitment from Volvo.

BMW separately on Thursday said that it plans to be able to mass produce electric cars by 2020 and offer a total of 12 different models by 2025. 

JLR is due to launch the fully electric Jaguar I-PACE in 2018, and chief executive Ralf Speth told Bloomberg Television that the company had already received 25,000 orders for that vehicle. 

Air pollution is linked to around 40,000 premature deaths a year in the UK, and transport also makes up a significant share of greenhouse gas emissions.

Earlier this year both the UK and France outlined plans to ban the sale of diesel and petrol-fuelled cars by 2040.

JLR is unveiling designs for a battery version of its iconic E-Type roadster at a tech fair in London that starts later this week. The company is also expected to present a concept for a voice-activated, detachable steering wheel.

FIFA orders Senegal and South Africa replay due to corrupt officiating

ZURICH --

FIFA has ordered that a World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Senegal be replayed after the referee awarded a penalty for a non-existent handball and was banned for life for match manipulation.

FIFA says the game, which South Africa won 2-1 in November last year, will be replayed this November. It says it made the decision to order a replay after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the lifetime ban for the referee in question, Joseph Lamptey of Ghana.

FIFA found Lamptey guilty of breaching the rule relating to "unlawfully influencing match results."

He gave a penalty for a non-existent handball against Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the game in Polokwane, South Africa. Replays clearly showed the ball struck Koulibaly's knee and then dropped to the ground.

South Africa scored the penalty and went on to win the qualifier -- their only victory so far in the final round of qualifiers in Africa.

A different result could have a big impact on the South Africa-Senegal group, with Senegal trailing joint-leaders Burkina Faso and Cape Verde by a point.

With a win, Senegal would move into first place in the group, while South Africa would be eliminated with that result.

FIFA says the game will be replayed in the November international window, with the exact date yet to be decided.

How HCCI Works

Mazda’s homogeneous charge compression ignition(HCCI) engine ignites gasoline through compression,just like diesel.

HCCI injects fuel(petrol)during the intake stroke.However,rather than using an electric discharge (spark plug) to ignite a portion of the mixture,HCCI raises density and temperature by compression until the entire mixture reacts spontaneously.

A spark plug is still needed to ignite the fuel at certain RPMs,and juggling the two combustion methods is a complicated puzzle that Mazda claims it has solved.

Unlike diesel engines,and unlike others who attempted a gasoline-fueled diesel,Mazda decided to use a spark plug in each cylinder under some conditions,mostly when the engine is cold at startup.

It calls this spark controlled compression ignition (SCCI) Mazda says the brief period of changeover from spark to compression ignition was tuned to be seamless.

The SkyActiv-X engine will be fitted with a supercharger and will produce 10 percent to 30 percent more torque that current (SkyActiv-G) engine.

HCCI makes possible a super lean burn mode that raises engine efficiency 20 to 30 percent over the current petrol engine,is 35 percent to 45 percent more economical than Mazda’s 2008 petrol engine,and equals or exceeds the diesel engine in fuel efficiency.

A five-year-old boy was shocked to discover a python inside his toilet when he lifted up the lid.

He was "frantic" when he found it in the bathroom at home in Southend, Essex, his mother Laura Cowell said.

Specialists from pet shop Scales and Fangs came to the rescue, removing the harmless 3ft (91cm) baby royal python.

"It smelt of bleach and a bit toilet-y," Ethan Pinion from the store said. The snake "most likely came up the u-bend" and is expected to recover fully.

Mrs Cowell said the toilet had been "blocked for several days and the water wasn't draining well", but at the time, she did not know why.

Her son discovered the unwelcome visitor when he went to use the toilet on Wednesday.

"He was frantic, and shaking, and I could tell something was wrong, but that was not what I expected," she said.

"I had to use a broom handle to lift the lid, then out popped its head and its tongue came out as well."

After phoning several potential rescuers, Rob Yeldham, who owns the Leigh-on-Sea store, came to help.

"I've done many snake rescues in my 10 years, but I've never had one in a toilet before. It's definitely a first for us," he said.

Mr Yeldham said some neighbours of Mrs Cowell had recently moved and old vivariums were left outside with the rubbish.

"I think the snake probably escaped and went down their toilet, and ended up in this one, as all the sewers are connected," he said.

It was unlikely it had been there long as it was healthy and not underweight, although it is suffering from scale rot, "probably from the bleach".

The snake is being treated at the store and once "in perfect health" will be "rehomed with someone reputable so he won't end up in a toilet again".

German explosives experts defused a massive second world war bomb in the financial capital of Frankfurt on Sunday after tens of thousands of people evacuated their homes.

About 60,000 people were ordered to leave in what was Germany’s biggest evacuation since the war, with more than 1,000 emergency service workers helping to clear the area around the bomb, which was discovered on a building site last week. 

The bomb was found last week in the city’s leafy Westend suburb, where many wealthy bankers live, and the evacuation area included the country’s central bank, where $70bn (£54bn) in gold reserves are stored.

Frankfurt fire and police chiefs said they would use force if necessary to clear the area, warning that an uncontrolled explosion of the bomb would be big enough to flatten a city block.

Police set up cordons around the evacuation area, which covered a radius of just under a mile (1.5km), as residents dragged suitcases with them and many families left by bicycle.

The fire service said the evacuation of two hospitals, including premature babies and patients in intensive care, had been completed and they were helping about 500 elderly people to leave residences and care homes.

More than 2,000 tonnes of live bombs and munitions are found each year in Germany, even under buildings. In July, a kindergarten was evacuated after teachers discovered an unexploded second world war bomb on a shelf among some toys.

British and American warplanes pummelled Germany with 1.5 million tonnes of bombs that killed 600,000 people. Officials estimate that 15% of the bombs failed to explode, some burrowing six metres (yards) deep.

Three police explosives experts in Göttingen were killed in 2010 while preparing to defuse a 450kg (1,000lb) bomb.

Frankfurt police said they rang every doorbell and used helicopters with heat-sensing cameras to make sure nobody was left behind before they began defusing the bomb on Sunday.

Roads and transport systems, including parts of the underground, were closed during the work and for at least two hours after the bomb was defused, to allow patients to be transported back to hospitals.

Small private planes, helicopters and drones were banned from the evacuation zone. Most museums were offering residents free entry on Sunday.

TWO PEOPLE have been seriously injured and 13 others hurt as lightning struck a tent during a music festival in France.

The lightning struck a tent at the Vieux Canal festival in the northeast town of Azerailles, injuring 15 people

Those seriously injured are understood to be a woman in her 60s and a 44-year-old man.

The victims were "directly hit by the lightning and suffered burns", the local council said.

Lightning struck a big tent located near a large tree under which festival goers had taken refuge.

Those injured received first aid from the festival's emergency centre before being taken to hospitals in the area.

Two children aged 10 were also taken to hospital after suffering shock.

All Saturday evening concerts have since been cancelled.

The main party trick is a three-way rotating dashboard that would look right at home in the next James Bond movie.

The 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta is the only street legal alloy aluminum bodied ever built.Yes,Ferrari produced over 1,200 examples of the 365 GTB/4 Daytona between ’69 and ’73,but this one was obviously different.

The singular street-legal Daytona racer featured a Rosso Chiaro (red) paint job and Nero (black) leather interior.It was optioned with power windows and plexiglas headlights to complement its rare aluminum body. 

The lightweight 365 GTB spent a couple of years in Italy before its registration was canceled.It was later shipped to Japan in 1971where it traded hands(three owners)over the next few years before reaching Makoto Takai,who hid it from the public for the next 40 years.

Despite the damage done in storage,the car still apparently sports the same engine and transmission that it left the factory with,and it only shows about 22K miles on the clock (that's 36,390 kilometers,to be precise).

Leaks can be difficult to identify,but there are clues that can help you determine just what is slowly dripping from under your car.There are three things to look for when trying to determine where the leak may be coming from: LOCATION,COLOR and CONSISTENCY.

1)Engine Oil
Engine oil leaks are the most common type of leak, and are found under the front half of the car, usually directly under the engine.Engine oil is black or very dark brown and will be very slick to the touch.

Used engine oil may have a slightly burnt odor. Engine oil leaks typically come from the oil pan, valve covers, oil filter, real seal, or the oil pan plug.

2)Coolant
Coolant is red or green,and has a slightly thicker consistency than water.The fluid is slippery to the touch and the most distinctive aspect of coolant is its sweet smell.

Coolant leaks typically come from the front-most part of the vehicle,near the radiator or under the engine.
Coolant leaks typically originate from the radiator,radiatorhoses,water pump,or the radiator overflow container.

3)Transmission Fluid
Transmission fluid will be found under the car,in the middle and towards the front. Transmission fluid is typically red and very slick to the touch.

The consistency is similar to that of light engine oil.Transmission fluid also has a distinctive petroleum smell.Transmission fluid that is long overdue for a change may be more brownish in color and smell burnt.

Leaks from the front of the car:
4)Power Steering Fluid or Brake Fluid
Power steering and brake fluid look and feel very similar.Power steering fluid tends to be a shade darker than brake fluid.

Both will be slick to the touch and have the consistency of thin oil.Power steering fluid leaks typically originate with the power steering pump or hoses.Brake fluid leaks can appear anywhere along the brake lines that run the length of the vehicle.When discovered, these leaks should be fixed immediately,as they pose a safety hazard if not corrected.

5)Windshield Washer Fluid
Windshield washer fluid comes in a variety of colors, including pink,blue,orange,purple,and red.This fluid is the consistency of water.

It has very little smell,and leaks will typically come from the windshield washer reservoir or the hoses that lead to the jets that spray the fluid on the windshield.Excessive use of the windshield wiper fluid when the vehicle is not in motion will cause puddles of fluid to develop under the car where the fluid runs down the cowl.

6)Fuel
The easiest way to identify a fuel leak is by smelling the fluid. You can easily tell if the leaking fluid is fuel by the scent.

Fuel leaks are a significant safety hazard and with each drop that hits the ground you are losing money, so they should be fixed immediately. Fuel can also leak from the front of the vehicle if the fuel delivery system, such as the fuel lines or the fuel injectors, have failed or are failing.

7)Rear Differential Oil
On rear-wheel-drive vehicles,the rear differential is located between the two rear tires, and is a large round casing about the size of a soccer ball.If you find thick, black,oil on the pavement under the differential,it may be leaking.
This oil tends to have a higher viscosity than engine oil.

8 )Coolant(exhaust)
If you routinely fill the radiator or radiator overflow container,but cannot find an obvious leak near the front of the car, check your tail pipe.If you smell a sweet odor emanating from the tailpipe you could have an internal coolant leak which is allowing coolant into the cylinder and out the tailpipe.

This type of leak should be fixed as soon as possible,as it can cause major damage to the internal moving parts of the engine if allowed to worsen.

Whenever a car's engine continues to run after the ignition has been shut off,mechanics refer to it as dieseling.

Dieseling is so named because it is similar in effect to how diesel enginesoperate:by firing without a spark.The ignition source of a diesel engine is the heat generated by the compression of the air in the cylinder,rather than a spark as in gasoline engines.

The dieseling phenomenon occurs not just because the compression ratio is sufficient to cause auto-ignition of the fuel,but also because a hot spot inside the cylinder(spark plug electrode,combustion-chamber/valve edge or even excess carbon) starts combustion.

An automobile engine that is dieseling will run for few seconds or few minutes after been shutdown,depending on the amount of fuel remaining in the combustion chamber and how long it takes for the ignition source to cool down,sputter,then gradually stop.This is normally seen in carbureted engines with many miles on them.If a petrol-powered engine begins dieseling,there is usually something wrong somewhere.

Potential causes

Dieseling can occur for several reasons:

1)Built-up carbon in the ignition chamber can glow red after the engine is off, providing a mechanism for igniting unburnt fuel.Such a thing can happen when the engine runs very rich, depositing unspent fuel and particles on the pistons and valves.Similarly,rough metal regions within the piston chamber can cause this same problem,since they can glow red.

2)It has also been suggested that an improperly rated spark plug can retain heat and cause the same problem.

3)A carburetor that does not completely close can contribute to running once the engine is off, since the extra fuel and oxygen mixture can combust easily in the warm piston chamber.
Similarly,hot vaporized oil gases from the engine crankcase can provide ample fuel for dieseling.

4)Incorrect timing.

5)An engine that runs too hot or too lean may produce an environment conducive to allowing unspent fuel to burn.

6)An idle speed that is too fast can leave the engine with too much angular momentum upon shutdown,raising the chances that the engine can turn over and burn more fuel and lock itself into a cycle of continuous running.

7)Another potential "run on" problem after an ignition has been turned off can be attributed to an inlet valve(s) that are not sealing fully allowing the piston motion to pull a fuel mixture in when technically the valve is shut.

One of the best ways to reduce the chances of dieseling is to keep your car properly supplied with oil and engine coolant. When car engines overheat, hot spots can develop and cause dieseling. 

Some experts suggest that dieseling could be triggered by inferior or improper spark plugs, so you may also ask a mechanic to make sure you have the proper size spark plugs for your car's engine.

Many dieseling problems can be addressed during a regular engine tune-up, so tell your mechanic about any irregularities you may have noticed after shutting off the ignition.

Engine Block: A crack in the deck of an engine block near the coolant jacket will cause coolant to enter the combustion chamber.

Head Gasket: A damaged or blown head gasket will cause coolant to enter the combustion chamber resulting in white/gray smoke coming from the tailpipe.
If you happen to see a White/Gray Smoke,take your car to the mechanic as soon as possible as the leaking coolant can lead to overheating which could cause damage to your engine.

A perfectly tuned car should have colorless emission,if you see it emitting smoke in the colors highlighted above,book a date with your mechanic asap.

Surat Yusuf is the 12th surah(chapter) of the Holy Quran.It is said to have been revealed in a single sitting,being unique in this respect.
The text narrates the story of Yusuf(the biblical Joseph).While other surahs tend to jump between topics,this sura is special in sticking to its central theme throughout,telling a coherent story in chronological order.

The surah is Makki(sent down before the Hijra),revealed in the 10th year,the year of sadness,after the Prophet lost his beloved wife Khadija and uncle Abu Talib. He was also driven out of the town of Ta’if, and was feeling very sad due to the loss of his family and difficulties in the dawah. Allah sent down this beautiful surah to be a source of peace for Prophet Muhammad,as a reminder that look how many difficulties Yusuf faced and how he persevered through them.The surah is rare in how it is exclusively discussing one story,yet is probably one of the most exciting

1) Something miserable is better than disobeying Allah:

“O my Lord! Prison is more to my liking than that to which they invite me.Unless You turn away their plot from me,I will feel inclined towards them and be one of the ignorants.” (12:33)

2) Don’t be jealous:

Yaqub (as) said:

“O my son! Relate not your vision to your brothers,lest they arrange a plot against you. Verily! Shaitan (Satan) is to man an open enemy! (12:5)

3) Never give up hope in Allah:

“O my sons! Go you and enquire about Yusuf and his brother,and never give up hope of Allah’s Mercy.Certainly no one despairs of Allah’s Mercy,except the people who disbelieve.” (12:87)

4) Patience is beautiful,so be patient at all times:

This whole surah gives one example after an other of how Prophet Yusuf (as) showed patience.He was patient;

• while awaiting the fulfillment of his dream
• when his brothers abandoned him in the well
• when he was sold as a slave
• when the king’s wife accused him of seduction
• he continued to be patient when he was put in jail
• when his fellow inmate was released and forgot about him
• as the king of Egypt,he continued to be patient with his brothers’ slander.

5) Forgive:

Instead of being bitter and angry,Yusuf (as) chose to forgive.With all his power as a leader, he was in a position to take revenge,make life miserable for those that had brought misery into his.But he chose the sweetness of forgiveness instead.

He responded to his brothers with the following beautiful words:

“No reproach on you this day, may Allah forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy]!(12:92)

This is indeed one of the best story narrated to us in the Qur’an.May Allah allow us to extract all the gems from this Surah for as long as we live and continue to teach us how to be better Muslims through this Surah.Ameen
