Usmanovic95:In response to your question, a good example of a working economy where petrol is expensive is the UK where a litre currently sells for about £1.50 (that's over N2000/litre under the current exchange rate). Regarding the UK minimum wages, I'm glad you brought that up cos it nicely buttresses my earlier point that economic improvement doesn't always have to mean 'cheap petrol'. If the economy improves, household income increases, more people get out of unemployment and more people would be able to afford petrol at even N2000/litre. Nigeria's exchange rate crisis in the last 8 years has primarily been fuelled by the forex scarcity. While we may agree the crisis has been aggravated by poor leadership, a fact remains that for an import dependent country, Nigeria critically lacks forex. It's also on record that petroleum product importation gulps over 40% of Nigeria's forex. The Dangote refinery has the capacity to end Nigeria's petroleum product importation. At 100% capacity, the refinery would also produce surplus refined products turning Nigeria to a net exporter of petrol. In addition to saving 40% of its forex, there would also be increased forex inflows from the export of refined products, as opposed to raw crude. Anyhow you look at it, the economic impact of a fully functioning Dangote refinery would be tremendous, regardless of whether Dangote sells at N200 or N1000. In summary, my worry isn't whether Dangote would sell petrol at N600 or N800, or whether he should crash prices; rather my worry is whether the demonic forces perpetually holding Nigeria down would PERMIT the Dangote refinery to work. |
MadamExcellency:You're actually the one just being simple-minded! Firstly, contrary to general opinion, I dont believe the Fulani herdsmen crisis genuinely has anything to do with religion. Those guys only whip up religion as a mind control tool to deceive and subdue northern minorities (and even majorities). The Fulani crisis is purely an ethnic problem where the Fulanis are desperate to grab land, especially in arable green areas. Meanwhile my earlier comment about climate change being a factor is valid. Climate change and the desertification in the Sahara appear to be one of the factors forcing the herders downsouth in search of greener lands. |
Odod0:Climate change is likely one of the contributing factors fuelling the fulani crisis in the middle belt. Before running to criticise or drop curses, we should first ask the what the relationship is. Climate change and the consequent desertification in the Sahara is a notable factor forcing the Fulani herders downsouth in search of greener lands. |
Usmanovic95:Economic improvement doesnt always have to mean 'cheap petrol'. In those foreign countries our people japa to, petrol isn't cheap, but we all agree their economies are better than ours. |
Omooooo! The only thing I can say is that "You get mind!" After using shovels and a tractor to push out a plane that crashlanded in a swamp, you still had the courage to jump on the same plane for another 3 hrs flight because the pilot said only one engine was bad?..... Omo una get strong mind! |
sorepco:The point @pedel made is that the net pay of a person earning £50k or £51k annually will always be higher than the net pay of a person earning £49k. So in essence, the assumption made by the Op of this thread is false. |
DeOTR:Obviously! a £2500 income would give you a better life in Nigeria than elsewhere. But my point was mainly focused on the topic of the thread. If the main reason you rejected the UK offer was based on the assumption that "a person who earns more would go home with less income than a person who earned less", then that would have been a flawed assumption. |
DeOTR:If this is truly the reason a person rejected an offer, then 'sorry' is their name cos their decision was built on misinformation and ignorance. There's no way a person who earns more would go home with less income than a person who earns less. |
Nice2023:False! I saw this post somewhere on Instagram and couldnt help but shake my head at the misinformation and how fast it was being spread and swallowed. Yes there are tax bands, and you pay higher tax percentages if you earn more. But there's not a single case where your 'net pay' becomes less when you receive a salary increase. The monthly net pay of a person earning £50,000/annum would definitely be more than the net pay of a person earning £49,000; the monthly net pay difference should roughly be about ~£50 monthly. |
Religion has really wasted African brains for too long! Terrorist have been murdering Israeli men, women and children in cold blood but those ones didnt drop dead? Milllions have been threatening and speaking bad against israel for ages and nothing happened to them. Even the NAZIs that murdered 6 million Jews but Germans still exist today and are still world powers. And then a single Turkish man gets a cardiac arrest and people blindly think it is God's punishment for insulting Israel? Kaiii! |
JASONjnr:I think Oshiomole functions better as an activist and people's advocate. He was never meant to be in the executive arm. Same goes for Festus Keyamo who functioned better as a government critic and people's advocate but became a scum once he got to an executive seat. |
dododawa1:Nothing surprising about this revelation.... The people we've come to know as bandits in the northwest started their craft as foot soldiers of very powerful gold mining cartels in Zamfara. As is usually the case, when cartel bosses fail to treat the soldiers right, there'd be heavily armed breakaway factions. |
Forget respect and forget the billionaire wife toga... Take a second look at that woman! Chinyere Wilfred from her antecedents go fit drive even Ned Nwoko comot anywhere. ![]() |
These complaints mean absolutely nothing! If the February 25th election is repeated today, 99.9% of those who voted APC will still vote him again. And then for those saying they'd vote Tinubu out in 4 years if he messes up, I laugh!.... Tinubu is a master of state capture... Tinubu isnt Buhari who felt a need to prove to cynics that he was a repented democrat. With the mess they've turned INEC and the courts to, it'd take only an ultimate call of nature to remove Tinubu from power (we could be talking, 3-4 terms)... |
The culprits who murdered the Deborah Samuel lady have since been released and the case against them thrown out. But a lady who shared a video of the killing for awareness is in jail for 18 months? Nigeria! Wow! |
Wiliwili practitioners! |
DaddyFreeze2020:What's the criteria used in identifying skyscrapers?.... E.g., a height threshold, no. of floors etc? |

socialmediaman:According to the Association of Women Worldwide, 'confidential info' automatically means 'chats with another woman' |
Of course, they can only be overwhelmed by raw cash. |
The other day the same Appeal Court presented judgment on APC letterheaded paper. Now another clerical error! |
OvertheTop:Many are languishing in prison for this same trap. A word should be enough! |
kelvindj98:Not sure I understamd your point... How old are you? |
Gerrard59:The problem is that a drunk man can barely tell who's a drunk woman; even a sober man wouldn't be able to always tell if a woman flirting with him is doing so cos she's drunk. By the way I mentioned "white women" cos black women hardly get drunk and start f**king anyone they see, only to turn around and call it rape when they realise the person they f**ked has a skin colour they dont like. Not trying to be racist here but its majorly white girls that get a single shot and start throwing themselves at anyone they see. I'm not saying we dont have real rapists, and neither am I trying to hold brief for any sex offender, but truth is that there's thousands of innocent black guys falling for this same trap and ending up in UK prisons everyday. |
Why do I feel this is just another careless victim of a drunk white woman? Avoid drunk hornny women! Avoid drunk hornny white women! Avoid drunk hornny UK women!... This warning can never be overemphasised. Even if they come at you, throw themselves on you, grab your staff, and literally beg for sex, push them away and run for your life, cos you might just have the police knocking at your door the next morning! |
pocom35:Yeah of course the NASS will definitely fight him but at the end, there'd be a reasonable compromise. Same thing happened when he was governor, the state assembly fought him mercilessly and even trid to impeach him twice; but at the end he prevailed! If the people support you, you will eventually have the upper hand. |
Roboto11:Keep deluding yourself wilfully all because you want to defend you kleptocratic oppressors. |
YesDaddy1:Please support your Tinubu in peace and leave OBI out of your mouth. Obi isnt a member of the govt and isnt a member of the NASS.... and whilst you're at it, you can do well to stop deluding yourself that OBI is in the same class as your typical Nigerian kleptocratic rogue politicians that you support. He is very different from the different from the shady characters you defend. |
Roboto11:Rogue leaders have obviously twisted your understanding of the workings of government. The NASS are the ones that sign budgets and approve the release of funds right? Perhaps when OBI did same in Anambra, he was actually a member of the House and not a governor right? |
Roboto11:The president is still the one who approves the budget of the NASS (you guys arent half as smart as you think you are). OBI when he was governor blocked the Anambra HOA several times from making similar frivolous expenses; reason why the rogues tried to impeach him twice for preventing them from sharing money. If you really think a serious minded and focused president cannot prevent the NASS from engaging in their usual cash bazaar, then the joke is clearly on you. Feel free to keep defending reckless extravagance all because you think you're punishing OBI and Obidients! |
YesDaddy1:Una don win election already, why are you guys still obsessed with OBI? Is such behaviour normal? OBI isn't a member of the NASS so he's not in any position to reject anything given to NASS members. He only stated his own part that if he were president, he wouldnt approve such insensitive and frivolous expense especially at a terrible time like this. You guys should feel free to keep supporting nonsense because you feel your punishing OBI and Obidients; keep defending the profligacy of the goverment while you and your family suffers the poverty. Hope you have hailed the purchase of presidential yatch today? Na OBI you dey punish! Regarding IPOB, anybody robbing or kidnapping or molesting or murdering or terrorising people on the streets is a CRIMINAL, whether they are IPob or herdsmen or bandit or anything at all. OBI has since condemned all manner of criminality perpetrated by people under the guise of anything they claim, be it Ipob or whatever. If anyone doesnt have the brains to comprehend that, then that can't be OBI's fault. Also if you're waiting for OBI to pick a picture of Kanu and insult him before you realise that he has condemned the criminality, then you're wasting your time. |
Slaves who foolishly worship and defend their oppressors would always grapple onto straws to prove a point that "everyone else is also a corrupt oppressor". These cretins would stop at nothing to prove that OBI is in the same immoral corrupt league as the political oppressors they exalt. The first and most important thing Peter OBI said was that as a president, he would never have approved N160million for buying cars for legislators. Obviously I didnt expect the brown envelop media to report that part of the story where he condemned it. |
