There is a kind of personal sacrifice a true leader should have made himself before having the guts to make this sort of statement in public. There's a kind of personal commitment and selflessness a true leader should have displayed before making this sort of appeal to hungry workers and while it may be met with disapproval by the workers, it wouldnt attract a single insult.
Even though the money owed is from his predecessors, even though he's shown some honesty and openness in the issue, this is definitely an irresponsible statement made to helpless hungry and angry workers. |

Maduawuchukwu: May God not allow me make fun of people's misfortune. The Chibok girls were indeed captured. Oby Ezekwesilli did the right thing regardless of motive. What I am saying is that the kidnap of the girls did not fall under what was tenable under Boko Harams tactics then; they were a guerilla group and would not kidnap such large number of girls as it would inhibit easy movement. Also, that they went behind enemy lines just to kidnap the girls does not fit in. Why take that much risk even knowing that it could jeopardize ur strategy? This leaves us with the strong possibility that the Kidnap of the girls which happened no doubt was a contract work done by Boko Haram in exchange for money since every other motive is weak. "Who paid them to do it?" is the question now. At the said time, BH was already involved in several, yes several cases of abduction of women and young girls. BH also frequently paraded themselves almost without a single resistance through various communities, cities and local government areas leaving in their wake, death and destruction. It was only a few months after the attack of Chibok community and kidnap of those girls that BH even declared a Caliphate comprising several local governments where they had already captured and were operating freely. BH reached the peak of their menace in 2014 so I'm not sure I understand where you got your info from that they weren't formiddable enough to pull the Chibok stunt in April 2014. Once again, as at the time, BH were involved in several cases of abductions, they invade communities, burn it down, kill the killables and abduct the young girls. The Chibok case only became popular by chance (and probably cos they were schoolgirls). And of course, due to the global popularity of the Chibok case, BH knew the Chibok girls had become a gold mine, hence they had to keep them as powerful bargaining chips. Hence why even with the liberation of over a thousand women and girls from BH custody in the last 2 years, the Chibok girls still seem elusive cos BH commanders have held thwm close as bargaining tools. Of course politics being what it is, the opposition capitalised on the Chibok kidnap case at the time to run down the then govt and advertise themselves. Every politician all over the world does that. So I wonder why Jonathanians are yet to get over Jonathan's loss and understand it's just politics. |

Maduawuchukwu: They had not started taking territories in serious fashion by then. BH first took territories in 2013 beginning but they were easily flushed out when GEJ declared emergency rule. They started taking territories again but this time in serious fashion during mid 2014. I can still remember when it began as I was on Beegeagle's blog then. Chibok people were allegedly abducted in April 2014, but your argument is that BH only started taking territories in mid-2014, so therefore, the abduction of people from Chibok was fake? ... I don't think I understand the logic in this argument, are you saying BH never abducted anybody before mid-2014?.... Meanwhile, to the best of my memory, I don't remember any report about BH taking-over or capturing Chibok town, it was only a hit and run; and if my memory serves me right again, the CHibok case wasn't the first or only case of abduction by BH. I'm not sure I understand this desperation by some hardcore Jonathanians who keep going against common sense and logic making ridiculous claims that no child was separated from their parents. If the claim had been that the girls were not abducted by BH, but rather were abducted by APC thugs headed by Shekau, then even as silly as that sounds, it is a more feasible /sensible story. But claiming BH never abducted anyone before mid-2014, or claiming that no child was kidnapped at all from Chibok?... I lack words to describe this. |

Maduawuchukwu: Those girls who were rescued from Boko Haram camps were kidnapped after Boko Haram started taking territories like Gwoza etc. Infact the girls were merely relocated to Boko Haram camps since the areas were under Boko control but in the case of the Chibok girls Boko Haram were still largely guerilla based then still moving up and down. In the case of the Chibok Girls Boko Haram went beyond enemy lines. What motivated such daring attempt? The urge for sex? I don't think so. You are beginning to confuse me here; are you saying that as at April 2014, BH hadnt already grown to a formidable group taking over territories? April 2014? |

Maduawuchukwu: Lol. I knew this the moment I heard that the girls were kidnapped. I have been following guerilla groups since 2009 during the Niger-Delta insurgency and one thing I learnt was that guerilla groups never kidnap large numbers of people as it slows down their logistics and ease of movement which is the biggest asset they have; the ability to move around easily without encumberances. As at then Boko haram had not started taking territories so what gave them the motivation to go behind enemy lines with all the risks involved to kidnap girls of questionable value?(nobody would have believed that the issue would become a hot topic). My 6th sense tells me that Boko Haram were given a contract to execute which explains their actions which were not in line with their general modus operandi. Are you aware the Chibok girls were not the only 'large number of people' abducted by BH? Are you aware prior to now, several large numbers of women have been liberated from BH camps, I mean numbers running over 1000? Your 6th sense tells you those other abductions (over 1000) are possible, but over 200 girls kidnapped from Chibok isnt practical to you? |

Politics › Re: Igbos Need To Stop Acting Like Minorities And Play Nigerian Politics by obailala(m): 12:03pm On May 13, 2017 |
Afam4eva: You know, this is actually one of the worst times to be an Igbo man as far as being part of the Nigerian entity is concerned. We know that since the end of the civil war the hate for the Igbo man has been engraved in the minds of the average Nigerian, from the west to the North and even to the South-south. Though the Igbos did a pretty good job despite the adversities by pulling themselves out of the rubble and from 1999, we started to enjoy some level of prosperity politically, even though i feel it wasn't enough considering the fact that we're part of the tripod upon which this nation was built. Atleast it was a good start.
However, a little more than a decade later, the Igbo nation is looking more like a conquered territory. Some people blame it on wrong political calculations and alliances while others blame it on the hate that the Nigerian state has had against people of Igbo extraction. I would blame it on the unwillingness of Igbos to play politics the Nigerian way.
It has come a time that we need to forego the emotions of the civil war and solidarity with any group and play politics the way the Northerners play or atleast, go the route of the Yorubas. These people have mastered the idiosyncrasies that is Nigeria and have seized the moment to put themselves at a stage that will benefit them. It seems the Igbos are the only majority group that have failed and looking like a minority group by the day. Instead of deceiving ourselves by concocting spiritual alliances with a region known as the south-south or Niger Delta or whatever they want to call themselves these days, our alliances should face westwards and to the north. The people from the south-south are the most ungrateful humans ever to walk this part of the world. How can one explain that a group as big as the Igbo race put all their eggs in one basket for a man known as Goodluck Jonathan who wasn't even an Igbo man and as soon as he lost, his people started throwing abuses at us.
The first mistake you don't make in politics is to bring yourself down to align with minorities except it's for your own interest. It's high time we stopped being emotional and moved with the tide and align with satan if need be because contrary to what a lot of Igbos may think, we're no saints and nobody is looking for a saint in Nigeria. As long as you're crooked but appear friendly, people will respect you. Guy you didnt have to throw in those jabs at the SS, it completely polluted your good write-up. In politics, there are no friends or enemies, there are only permanent interests, and to achieve these interests, allies are needed, as many allies as possible. Nobody is too big or too small to be an ally and no region is too far or too close or too 'different in ideology' to be an ally. Once again in politics, no region owes any other region anything, be it gratitude or whatever. To achieve your interests, you need allies, and there has to be something tangible in the bag for the allies, else they dont owe anybody anything. |

TonyeBarcanista: Exactly! Political influence... and whose fault is it? Nobody's but the candidates that think they earn the right to their votes of their tribesmen simply because they are of one tribe.
Ojukwu never really campaigned to win, he hinged his hope on his Biafra heroism amongst Igbo people, falsely believing that it will not only earn him Igbo votes but also the Presidency on assumption of "let's give it to him". But politics don't work that way! Else, even your people will look elsewhere.
You campaign vigorously even among your own people, selling your ideas and prospects to them and extending beyond the shores of your clan if you want to win. That was what differentiate Buhari 2015 from Buhari 2003/2007/201.
I have always maintained that nobody owe anybody or region anything when it comes to politics, people seeking for power must not just agitate but fight and push for it. Ojukwu's intention wasnt to win the election. In his words, he participated in the election just to promote APGA as a progressive political platform. |

And if it's (shamefully) existent among us then we don't need to come online flaunting our barbarism. There are 1001 'What Ifs' that could have happened in the case and there's a gaping hole in the narration of the story. But since you guys have chosen to 'assume' it must only have been a mere case of her being rude, I choose to 'assume' that following a disagreement, she may have first attacked the driver with dangerous objects inflicting grievous bodily damage on him and he only responded in self defence. To the best of my knowledge, no sane man just parks his car by the road and starts beating up female strangers; my head still spins and wonders why the story deliberately omits all the details. In view of this, whilst it remains wrong to hit anybody (man or woman), it would be rather myopic of me or anyone to judge or conclude a case based in a single glaringly incomplete story. Meanwhile my head still wonders why the police dismissed the case so easily; they certainly heard more details. |

A liberal politician is known for his or her liberal agenda. The same applies to conservatives.
In Europe and the west in general, political orientation is based on ideology. So you won't be finding certain set of people voting for any party or candidate based on populist support.
All your other insinuations are bullshit ! I'm not sure I quite understand what connection this your response has with the things I mentioned. BlowBack: At the bolded: what do you mean by accuse the SW?
The very same SW betrayed the south by entering an alliance with the north and you are claiming it is a mere accusation?
You yorubas never seem to amaze me with your hypocrisy!
As long as the structure of Nigeria remains as it is, the north will be the deciding factor!
So if the SS/SE decide to support a northerner come 2019 how is that any different from what you rascals did in 2015?
At least since 1999 up till 2015, the Yoruba political bloc chose to remain in opposition in order to satisfy Tinubu's greed. Was Obasanjo not a Yoruba man who got a resounding support from both the SS and SE both in 1999 and in 2003?
When you guys even claim that you voted GEJ, I sometimes wonder if you forgot that Osun voted for Ribadu and GEJ never had a resounding margin in other SW states just as he recorded in the SS, SE and Middle-belt.
You guys should just get ready to go back permanently to your opposition come 2019 if you dare field that fake pastor. There's something called politics, and in politics, there are no permanent friends, but only permanent interests. In a political arena, people go for choices they feel would butter their bread. In 2011, majority from the SW voted Jonathan believing their bread would be buttered. But after 4 years, they did not seem to get what they anticipated, so they switched sides in 2015 and supported the other guy (GMB) whom they rejected completely in 2011. The middle-belt states also did exactly the same, 2011 = Jonathan, 2015 = Buhari. Now I'm struggling to understand what's dishonourable in what the SW or middle-belt between 2011=>2015, maybe you can educate me. Had it been there was any particular agreement or any pact signed between the southern zones to support fellow southerners, then one may be inclined to think it was ignoble for SW or middle-belt to switch support in 2015. But to the best of my knowledge, no such agreement or pact exists; even the way we have 19 northern governors' forum, I'm not aware of anything called southern governors forum. If you still think it is a treacherous and ignoble thing for a southern zone to support a northern candidate over a fellow southerner, then maybe you should be reminded that the SE is also very much guilty of this very treachery (as you label it). I may not be good in political history, but without going too far, I think the SE supported Shagari over Awolowo in 1979 (probably cos of Ekwueme being in the ticket); similarly, the SE in 1993 gave more votes to Bashir Tofa over Abiola in 1993 (probably cos of Sylvester Ugoh). Now if my history serves me right, the SE has been more guilty of this thing you loosely or ignorantly call treachery. I wasn't born in 1979, so I wouldn't be able to tell if the SW kept crying over the loss of Awolowo for over 2 years+ after the election (as is the case today in Nigeria) and calling the SE betrayers of the south. Now because you think the SW voting a northern candidate in 2015 is treachery/betrayal, so in your manifold wisdom, the best thing you think the SE should do in 2019 is to support any northerner to spite the SW; spiting the SW now seems a bigger-better priority than selecting whoever is a candidate that may favour the SE?.. I'm sorry but this has to be the purest evidence of immaturity. Do you know exactly what you are doing?... You are whining and wailing like a little child, a child probably deprived of lollipops or akara balls. The only unfortunate thing here is that there are a multitude of others from the SE today (both adults and teens) who keep embarrassing the Igbo nation by sharing your exact thoughts. |

BlowBack: Whether as VP or substantial President, the better south will do better never to support a Yoruba candidacy to ASO rock in whatever capacity.
The reoccurring formula in Nigerian Politics is that there must be a northerner in the equation (preferably a hausa fulani muslim) either as President or Vice President.
The Yorubas knowing that they can never ever smell power again after Obasanjo have keyed into this equation and were and are still ready to play second fiddle to the north in order to have a stake at the centre.
The Yoruba preferred political stratagem is a North - SW ticket and they have gotten it with Obasanjo and now Osinbanjo.
They are now appealing to the SS/SE for support to continue this arrangement in 2019 with a possible Osinbanjo Presidency with a northern VP.
This arrangement will be no different than the disastrous Buhari -Osinbanjo presidency to both the SS and SE.
Our best bet is to settle for the VP position and support a substantive northern Presidency.
At least with this arrangement either the SS or SE is guaranteed a foot into Aso Rock.
If the Yorubas are pained about this just simply remind them of their backstabbing of a fellow southern President in the last election.
We dey learn treachery work for una hand now since that is all una sabi and by 2019 it will be another Ab0ki with either a SS or SE as deputy Only thing I picked from this long wailing epistle is that everyone aspires to be 'slaves' to the north; the very thing you accuse the SW of is what you now advocate for. ...and the funny thing about this cat and mouse game is that it has been going on like this since 1960 (though many people have chosen to be ignorant of this). Both sides (SW vs SE) have been BACKSTABBING each other (permit me to borrow your word) to the benefit of the north in every major election since the 60's. But it seems the SE (or rather some pained immature kids from the SE) have refused to recover from the result of 2015. Now see this one advocating for the 'backstabbing' to continue to the benefit of the north and I'm sure he thinks this is wisdom... |

fineboynl: firstly let look at acting president.
An acting president is a person who temporarily fills the role of an organization's or country's president when the substantive president is unavailable (such as by illness or a vacation) or when the post is vacant (such as for death, injury, resignation, dismissal).
secondly let look at coordinating president
the process of organizing people or groups so that they work together properly and well. or the act of making all the people involved in a plan or activity work ...
=================
from the above context. coordinating is not like a acting president to take after the president to make orders, but coordinating the workers more like a master put his servant in charged of his work force to coordinate them.
this is unacceptable, the vp run for the election, he is part of the elected officers and not an appointee. he was elected along with buhari. and if not for osinbaja buhari wouldn't have won. why did buhari not run with a northerner?
this is a shame to the democracy of Nigeria and this matter shouldn't be swept under the rug. TonyeBarcanista: By making Osinbajo the coordinator, Buhari simply mean "I'm still in charge but VP will coordinate things for me".
I recall back in 2010 January, AGF Michael Aaondoka said the VP is "overseeing the government and it was unnecessary to make him acting President".
This is exactly what Buhari letter is saying and Saraki is aware.
Let me add that another implication is that the VP won't assume all powers of the President (in practice) as he would have if he had been elevated to acting President.
The trick however is that the loyalty of Osinbajo has been put to test. If he attempts going above the line, the cabal will Bring Back Buhari and the doctors and Osinbajo will be "put in his place".
I will say the Senate pass a doctrine of necessity to empower VP to be Acting President. Following the Yaradua/Jonathan saga, a legislation was made; if the president is away for more than 14 days (without handing over to the VP to act in his stead), the VP automatically becomes Ag. President until the president returns. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... |
