This woman is so miserable. She should name one thing that jonathan did wrong apart from the usual broken record of some yoruba people, she should do it with undeniable proofs. The only thing i see with buhari is that his only plan for nigeria is nepotistic selection of people in position without recourse to the knowledge of what they are to face. This alone has killed nigeria for ever
Meeting over $42bn in foreign reserves and leaving less than 29bn after overseeing 5 years of unprecedented oil income boom.

Meeting less than 5bn in debts and growing this astronomically to unprintable levels. Ironically this debt was grown in 5 years of unprecedented oil income with nothing tangible to show for it besides hundreds of abandoned projects.

Your love for gej must be divinely divine for you to really think those things above are positive achievements which could not have contributed to our present recession.

PoliticsRe: Some Hard Facts About Power (electricity) In Nigeria! by obailala(m): 11:42am On Nov 26, 2016
Blue3k:
I know you directed question at op but I like to answer since I read this topic alot.

1. Regulations of electricity market for many years creating many distortions on market. Then nigerians have issue allowing free market to work. (They want failed governmen to run industry)

2. Natonal grid is in disrepair like refineries. The transmission loss is as high as 35%.

3. The foolish regulations that have us sharing. Just like federal allocation system it makes many states lazy because they don't benefit from their work. Instead of generating power locally where it most beneficial it's shared and lost on bad lines.

4. Pipelines vandalism.

5. Our hydro power is very intermittent and we have to kick back a sizable percentage to our northern neighbor Niger so they don't block the dam up north.

6. Untapped resources of coal power. Then Buhari went to sign climate bill.

7. We simply don't have political will. Instead of fixing issue they use generator for decades.

8. The wrong people are appointed the position of power minister. Instead of have a competent electrical or power engineer as head. We get a Lawyer by trade to do it. Lawyers are smart but the aren't enginers. Would you appoint enginer to be Attorney general or Supreme Court Justice?

9. We don't know how much power the country really needs or uses.

I could list solutions but you didn't for that.
I dont completely agree with Number 8 on your list for at least the Nigerian case. Over 90% of the problems bedevilling the power sector in Nigeria today aren't really technical, rather they are administrative issues.

Heads of agencies, the minister for state, permanent secretaries etc under the power ministry may need to be technocrats, and whilst it will be a nice-to-have thing for an engineer to be the power minister, the most important requirement for the Nigerian situation is someone who is intelligent and with the ability to think and organise and mediate on the thousands of legal and other disputes which have stalled the progress of the power sector over the years. In summary, what the sector needs is a good administrator.

Is there any link/proof to buttress the fact that less than N20b was budgeted for roads in 2015. The figure is unbelievable small.
2015 was declared a year of austerity / standstill and pay only worker salaries. It's sad that till date, a lot of people ignorantly put the blame on Buhari for contractors abandoning site for lack of funds in 2015.

deejerrydee:
Nigerian Air Force says it was an incident, not a crash

Barely two months after the presidency handed over two aircraft in the Presidential fleet to the Nigerian Air Force, an investigation has revealed that one of the ballistics defence capable aircraft has been seemingly, poorly managed and crashed at the Nigerian Air Force base, Makurdi.

TheNewsGuru.com gathered from a top, reliable source that one of the aircraft, Agusta AW 101, a medium-lift helicopter specially designed for military operations, got crashed less than a month after the Nigerian Air Force took delivery of it from the presidency, due to poor training of crew members saddled to man the operations of the aircraft.

When contacted, the Nigerian Air Force, P.R.O., Group Captain Dele Famuyiwa, denied the report that one of the aircraft crashed.

In a telephone conversation with TheNewsGuru.com, Famuyiwa said that the aircraft was not involved in a crash but an incidence of little effect.

“It was not a crash. I wouldn’t call it a crash because it just fell on the ground in Makurdi.”

I'm just amazed at the infantile comments and suspect these are coming from our university students.... the supporters and product of these lecturers. I wonder if they even read the article before commenting or is it they read but can't comprehend. Was this allowance owed by the present administration only? The FG is willing to pay a certain amount but the books need to be audited.... which they should be.... so why are aren't the universities cooperating? ...any idea? These lecturers that we are so solidly supporting.... we need to stop blindly respecting their title and look at the quality of education they are imparting. Yes you have graduated.... is your certificate/degree accepted outside of Nigeria?...why not? But yet... students are fighting for the lecturers instead of fighting for themselves. University students are always in the forefront for change through protests.... sit ins... USA...China ...but here we are... can't even protest the deplorable state of the universities but can run off our mouths on behalf of the undeserving extortionists lecturers. Like someone quoted earlier...Emancipate yourself from mental slavery for none but ourselves can free our mind.
You need to understand that in just about every topic of national interest raised on this forum, 95% of the commenters just find a way of myopically moulding it into the politics of GEJ vs PMB. For instance, GEJ supporters believe they owe themselves a responsibility of supporting anything or anybody who is a loggerheads with the govt and vice versa. As crazy as it may sound, this is what we have become.

Government pays mobilisation fees on contracts, subsequent payments are made as the work progresses.

To say these pictures were taken few months before elections is to show how limited your knowledge is about these areas.

I ply that route and I can tell you alot of work was done on that road.

Road dilapidate over periods of time.

If what will give you satisfaction is that GEJ did not work on the road, enjoy your illusion.

If Buhari is your Nigeria Champion, enjoy your illusion.

I ve educated you enough.

Take what you want.

Chapter closed.
I am a Nigerian who has a fair understanding of how things have worked at least in the past 3 decades of my existence and I can tell you categorically that you have educated me on nothing. Being a Nigerian, I know that what matters is seeing the job done on ground, not on paper. Your love for GEJ and your hate for Buhari seems to be muddling your knowledge of how things work in the country.

The very simple point is that GEJ did not fix the road any better than OBJ or Yaradua who were b4 him did, so I am yet to see any reason why GEJ should get any praise better than those b4 him who also ACTED like they wanted to fix the roads, but ended up leaving office with the roads still being the age long mess.

Now the present govt has resumed the same old trend but we are watching. I wouldn't come out to start praising anyone yet until I see substantial/tangible progress on the roads. Have a good day!

After reading these you will know how wrong you ve been.

You don't need to appease this useless government by making reference GEJ each time someone raises a valid issue.
Bro, the only question I ask you is, how much did he (GEJ) actually pay to the contractors?.. and if indeed he really paid substantial money to those contractors, why then did the contractors stop work immediately after elections?

It's not enough to share N10 million mobilisation fee each to several contractors for several projects around the country whose costs are in the realm of billions all in the bid to get the trucks of the contractors to site, take pictures and then use same for election campaigns. The pictures in those links you posted above were taken in March 2015, less than 1 month to the general elections then. I'm sure you know exactly what i'm talking about even though you may bluntly refuse to agree for sentimental reasons.

If there is anything we all know, after May 29th 2015, Buhari did not run around the country asking contractors to bring back the moneys GEJ's government had given to them for road construction. It is not a hidden fact that next to nothing was budgeted for the ministry of Works in the 2015 budget and this lack of payment is what forced several contractors to abandon site (even as political jobbers dubiously used that opportunity to blame it on 'incoming' government).

I know you hate Buhari so much and love GEJ so much but please let's be rational in apportioning blames here, GEJ only used those roads as election bait, if he was serious about fixing them, he would have done so early enough.

Meanwhile you claimed that I always make reference to GEJ, please i'm confused here cos you were the one who mentioned GEJ's name and falsely claimed he made payments for projects but Buhari came in and stopped the projects.

Gej awarded the contract on TV, the question is 'how much did he release?... I remember OBJ also awarded that contract on paper but to what end?

Please kindly remind us how much the total budget of the ministry of work for the entire country in 2015 under GEj was?... was it up to N20bn?

As at 2015 Gej used the entire money in Nigeria to prosecute an election which he lost. Even fuel importers were being owed subsidies for 9 months as at the time GEJ was leaving office and it took the new govt to come in and started clearing massive backlog of debts.

Kindly tell me what I have said above is wrong?

Nigeria's woes are just beginning. Zimbabwe and even Somalia are 'learners'. Many would still eat from dustbins. As long as the majority who are fools can't revolt against the bastards from Daura that are in power.

Anyone that still blames Jonathan or PDP for our ridiculously miserable situation now is a big fool. Our problems are Buhari policy-inflicted, NOT Jonathan inflicted.
At this point it is now difficult to believe that story of Emefiele being dictated to on every single thing he does... Regarding the issue of devaluation or not, oh yes he was influenced from above. But on all these other policies here and there, it is hard to believe he is being controlled, most of what we see these days are purely his ideas.

Now while the web address above conveyed the weird message, when you open the site, the main report never made any mention of Buhari or Trump. Of course as usual, all other copy and paste media houses and blogs simply did what they know how to do best by copying and spreading the weird story.

Vanguard has been in the business of creating this very sort of deliberate confusion for too long. They were also the ones who reported the falsehood of Buhari promising to make N1 = $1. But upon opening the main report, it didnt have any link with the weird title but then, the intention of selling falsehood had already been completed.

How can any right thinking human ever want a character like GEJ to come back as leader when there are millions of potentially good candidates out there languishing in obscurity?
