byteHead:In the last 5 years, i.e. between 2010 to 2015, Jonathan was forced to budget up to N5 Trillion for defence, yet soldiers complained daily of a lack of common bullets to fight the insurgence. The $2.1billion which was specifically for arming soldiers and which went through Dasuki' office is obviously different from this case; a lot more funds are still yet to be investigated. I wonder what would happen when the investigations even get to NNPC. cc: chivic, haykay2005, henryutd |
But on a serious note, how can just 4 people pocket N1trillion?... If this is confirmed to be true, these men deserve to be hanged. ![]() |
MagicBishop:What you have written is quite true, but just for your information, it is strictly the SS that feeds the entire nation, not the SS+SE misconception that I've always been reading online lately. Just like the SW and even the north, the SE also relies on SS wealth to survive presently. Except the country is restructured, and until we can boot out our useless local leaders, this horrible trend will continue. |
okey559:..and you think the southern seaports are the only route through which things can be smuggled into the country?... Do you know Katsina shares a border with Niger republic? By the way part of the impounded goods are second hand car tyres from God knows where; tomorrow you get on a vehicle travelling and the one of the tyres blows at high speed and the worst happens, and then your family members will start blaming that aunty or that uncle for the tragedy. Meanwhile it was with your own mouth and your own words that you declared approval for the importation of the deadly tyres. If Nigeria must be good we must all learn to think righteously. If the government says there should be no importation of certain banned or substandard goods, adhere to it. |
uchlukez:Oh.. so it's even an Hausa owned business after all?... It's really shameful and depressing how some Igbos because of their hate for Buhari (and the accompanying paranoia) have reduced the entire Igbo race to a laughing stock in Nigeria since May last year. It's really sad! |
tommykiwi:Where did you read it that he was set free? ![]() |
May strong thunder fire anyone who is not in support of the anti-corruption war. Corruption is the only reason why a potentially very rich country like Nigeria is still wallowing in its 3rd world status. Now for the first time, we have a leader who has thrown away every other thing and decided to prioritise this fight against this monster called corruption but instead of supporting it, ordinary Nigerians who are the victims and who did not even gain any share from the loot are the ones screaming and opposing the fight against corruption. They claim he is only going for his political opponents, but this has always been the same old cry whenever EFCC unleashes its fangs even since the days of OBJ. What kind of humans do we even have in this africa?... They obviously want EFCC to totally drop the fight against corruption because it cannot arrest everyone at once. ![]() Just like someone suggested, anyone who isnt comfortable with the fight against corruption, such a person can pack their things and get lost to neighbouring nations like Cameroon or Togo. Enough of this! |
hammerT:Is this the first time Customs is impounding contraband goods in Nigeria?... What has Buhari got to do with this?... Your hate for Buhari can only do one thing, it will swallow you and continue to make your life miserable even while God continues to bless the man. If the Customs performing their duties more efficiently and effectively is what you attribute to Buhari, then it means Buhari is more of a blessing to Nigeria than every other president and may God bless the man a million folds. Keep hating! |
These goats should just vomit the yams so the country can move on. We don't even have enough prisons to place the multitude of goats that could be caught. |
4Tees:I'm quite sure the CBN will be very willing to similarly support other organisations that are willing to go into the refinery business. According to the reports, importation of petroleum products account for about 40% of Nigeria's forex flight. Anything to retain this forex within the nation would be a welcome development at this critical times. |
freshvine:I wouldn't to go into the Ibeto cement issue because I don't know the details, I however heard (not confirmed) that the condition for being allowed to import is that the organisation must have some capacity to also produce locally. This also applies for rice importation, only organisations which show a capacity to produce rice locally (with proven rice farms and mills) are given licenses to import. The idea is to encourage more local production whilst still allowing for importation to meet local consumption. But then again, I don't know the exact details as it concerns cement and Ibeto. As for the refinery, the idea is pretty clear, the CBN is obviously encouraging the building of local refineries as this has the capacity to totally overhaul Nigeria's economy. |
Victor Umeh has always been objective on most national issues, this is not unexpected. By the way, he belongs to APGA and not PDP. |
I thought PDP was barred from contesting in the election hence the decamping of Ekwunife? ![]() |
timunstopable:There is everything right about this. It is simply to encourage him to speedily complete the project. $6billion inflow of forex will totally overhaul Nigeria's economy, and then it will encourage others to invest in private refineries. I don't even mind if Dangote is given interest free loans, this will positively impact on Nigeria's economy and the triple effects would be felt by everyone. And about diversion of the forex to rice importation, the CBN governor was at the site of the refinery personally to inspect progress of work. |
Beadex1:Dangote is a businessman and he will site his business at the most convenient economic location where he will make maximum profit. Who knows, if he had sited it somewhere in the creeks he would have spent half of the capital cost settling youths and also dealing with periodic vandalism of his facilities whenever some misguided youths think they need some extra payouts. Some months back, the same Dangote suffered the loss of 4 of his trucks at Onitsha because some animals thought the best way to get back at the government of an Hausa man was to burn the trucks of another Hausa man. I don't think Dangote as a businessman would be comfortable siting his business in the SE filled with people who hate him just because of his tribe. Similarly, just last week we heard of the idiotic Uvwie youths in warri who vandalised the shoprite mall for absolutely no reason. That simple mall since its commissioning had restored a bit of life to Warri, a city which has been desolate since the bad leadership of the state allowed a multinational like Shell to leave. If I was an investor, even if I'm from that area, I wouldn't site my business at a location where I would be given high BP. freshvine:I think quite a good volume of oil is produced in Ondo and a soon to be commissioned field in Lagos, although not anywhere close to the planned 650,000 barrels/day. But don't forget the refinery will buy the crude oil it will refine; the crude will not be given free of charge and at least we wouldn't have the problem of looking for who to buy Nigeria's crude any more. |
PRYCE:I never said I didnt understand what deep thinking was, but I am only amused at your wonderful version of deep thinking. Have a good day too Mr Deep Thinker. |
Happiness87:You need to liberate yourself from the mental slavery of tribalism. Not everyone who doesn't agree with your political views is Yoruba. there are over 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria and Yoruba is just one. |
Happiness87:Of course to some small minds, everything in their lives have to be about 'tribe.' |
PRYCE:You need people who think deep but just take a look at your own thinking... From your statements, you insinuate that this government would be riding on the achievements of the past discredited government if they implement the report and you actually think that is deep thinking? What recommendation from the report has not been made in the past?... The main recommendation of the report which is restructuring, since when did that become a patented idea of GEJ?... Was GEJ the first to organise a confab?.. and is this the first confab where the main recommendation is restructuring?... So if GEJ promises to build a road and he doesn't, then another administration comes in and builds the road, it is automatically the achievement of GEJ right?... Or probably your idea is for the new administration to build a completely new or different road all because it wants it all in its name?... Have you ever heard of the word 'continuity' in governance?... So you expect the new administration to abandon every project of the last administration and start new ones because they discredited the last administration? If GEJ implemented the report of the conference, or even if he just made a slight attempt or showed the slightest interest to implement the content of the report, then I would have been inclined to give him the honour 'if' a successive administration ends up implementing it. The then opposition ACN/APC was rightly vindicated when they said the confab was a scam to gather support for 2015 elections; GEJ vindicated them when the report of the conference was thrown in the trash after the conference, and then exhumed just before the 2015 election with a promise to implement it if he was re-elected. |
PRYCE:Jonathan did not write the report of the confab, Jonathan did not even contribute to any decisions in the confab. It was the representatives of different ethnicities in Nigeria (from different political affiliations) that decided and prepared those reports. It is out of place and myopic to claim that the report belongs to Jonathan. And even if by any chance it was Jonathan who prepared the reports unilaterally, there is hardly any informed adult in Nigeria who doesn't know the right things to do to move the nation forward; besides, that wasn't the first confab in Nigeria and all previous confabs also had similar content. What matters is not who convened a confab, the big question is 'who will implement the report?'... Jonathan obviously failed woefully in that regard and anyone expecting an Hausa-Fulani man to implement that report must be a big dreamer. |
fallout87:Have you ever asked yourself why Bayelsa elections are not being conducted same time as other governorship elections in Nigeria?.... Just in case you dont know, it is because there were massive irregularities in a previous election which was eventually cancelled, hence the distortion to the election calendar. When a people are inherently violent in their ways, you cannot blame a leader for the violence which the people are known for. Rivers state is probably next, and I'm sure you will also claim it is Buhari that would be responsible if a rescheduled election will also be violent. By the way, that elections are being cancelled these days is a sign of more fairness in the electoral process. In the past, no matter how badly conducted and no matter how bad the election is marred with irregularities and violence, INEC would simply go to Abuja and announce PDP the winner; that is how badly the rights of the people have been raped by the PDP gang. That elections are being cancelled or declared inconclusive these days is a clear sign of more fairness in the process. |
Godjone:Kindly answer these 2 questions below: 1. What is good about organising a confab and not implementing its report? 2. What is good about originating the idea of TSA and never implementing it for years? Your argument sounds like a king who promises to build roads, but he never does because he was busy wining and dining with his bunch of 40 thieves and squandering the funds meant to be used for the projects. This king is then criticised harshly by another man who eventually climbs to the throne and then ends up building the roads. And now, the supporters of the former careless king are over the place bragging that the idea of building roads was originated by the former king. Kindly tell me what we should be worshipping GEJ for?... Who does not know that Nigeria needs a thorough restructuring via a proper confab for some of our decades long problems to be solved?.... Is Jonathan the first to conduct a confab? cc: tuscani |
JaredNomak:Whether you like it or not, the man received moneys and he hasn't denied it. It does not matter whether you like Buhari or not, the recoverable chunks of these moneys must be recovered and anyone found guilty will serve jail time. |
TonyeBarcanista:But something I still don't understand in this cases, how is it the business of Metuh or Dokpesi to know what account the moneys they received came from?.... I still don't understand the crime a contractor commits in receiving payment for a job done. |
TonyeBarcanista:Dont mind those guys... Since the election era, a lot of educated but illiterate Nigerians were fortunate to learn one new word 'propaganda.' They have excitedly added this new word to their personal repository of words and they use it freely even without having any clue as to what it actually means.. Such a shame! |
Money being returned is the most important thing I want to hear. Aggrieved PDPians and Jonathanians can go and die. Nigeria must get better! |
anonimi:Bloody wailer spotted. Go and read your books bro |
highmood:A thorough forensic audit of NNPC and cbn is still ongoing. One thing at a time bro. |
hollywater:No.. Bakare is a Nigerian and as such, he has the right to contribute to national issues. He's not a monk that should be relegated to a temple for the rest of his life. Besides, he was firstly an activist and a lawyer trained by Gani Fahewimi, so yeah, it would be silly for him to remain quiet and not lend his voice/opinion to national issues. |
What's the meaning of this response by the bishop?... Was this necessary? ... is this what they do in church now? |
