Adejare added that the governor had been so magnanimous to have allowed the shop owners acquire new shops in Isopakodowo market at N5,000 in a place like Oshodi. Is this true?... If this is the case then it isnt too bad. However, a 16 days notice given on the 21st of December when traders had already travelled for christmas and a demolition when they had barely returned to pick their goods, that's rather inconsiderate and callous. |

Some people will still be angry at this. Everything angers them. |
Hope this work out well... anything to reduce massive importation. |
Eventually, Igbos would still be the highest beneficiaries of the CBN's forex restriction policy because the last time I checked, local manufacturing (which is currently being encouraged here) is still mainly exclusive to Igbos. While some are still crying and alleging hate of Igbos over their inability to import anything and everything, sharp Igbos are already capitalising on the issue and beginning mass production in places like Aba. https://www.nairaland.com/2847624/biggest-steel-factory-west-africa#41728211 That being said, can someone explain the Kano clearing issue? ... Why is there no proper report on this apart from a side comment by one trader?.. if this is true, could it also be a policy to somehow discourage importation?... Whatever the case, any person with the most basic understanding of economics knows that policies to discourage importation are meant to stimulate local production and save the nation from an impending recession due to the continued oil price crash. Unfortunately, with the ethnic dynamics of Nigeria, some minds are only capable of viewing this from the ethnic angle as an intentional punishment for a particular tribe,' quite unfortunate indeed. |
PreyingMantis:They can actually be ignored and disregarded. That's the easiest and fastest way to stop such statements from coming forth in the future. |
PreyingMantis:You this preyingmantis, why cant you leave me alone?... What do you want me to do to please you?... attack the man to prove Igboness?... Sorry!... If you really want to hear my opinion, what the man has said might be unfortunate, especially coming from a notable personality, but then, it isn't completely false. The ressurection and escalation of the Biafran agitation is a direct consequence of the 2015 election result. Forget the fact that NK and ipob existed before 2015, the agitations before 2015 was ignificant and unworthy of attention. A lot of people were simply just angry that their beloved GEJ was unseated by an Hausa-Fulani Buhari, that was the match which ignited the renewed agitations in 2015. The unfortunate statement of 5% and the lopsided appointments were just 'extra' fuels which are used as an excuse/justification to sustain the agitation. It is not up to you to agree with this or not, it is a fact! The issue of blackmailing for appointments may however not be completely true because most of those agitating on the streets are actually the common men. But that is not to say some elite are not backing the agitations strictly for their selfish gains. |
lastmessenger:Please spare me that trash... I am not disregarding anybody. After listening to NK's speeches and following ipob activities and their comments all over social media, I have since come to a conclusion that those guys are nothing but misguided, brainwashed youths led by a diabolic psycopath and whose only mission and eventual achievement would be to create countless enemies for numerous peace loving Igbos all over Nigeria and the world. It is indeed an insult to equate those sadists to Igbos, if na play make u stop am! With the amount of hatred those guys have spread in 2015 alone, why would even unconcerned Nigerians not hate Igbos? |
cytellProperty:Yeah, but we still have to keep the hope alive. It will happen one day, and it will not happen gradually, trust me. |
How come the story is only on Nairaland? The EFCC should put up proper security around this man, this could simply be a case of some miscreants trying to assassinate the man in order to shut him up. Alternatively, it could be a case of some diabolic miscreants trying to ferment some serious unrest in the nation. Since the protests for release of NK seems to have died down, this could just be another beautiful excuse to block the highways. |
wislika2015:The fact of the matter is that Igbos schemed their way out of the political leadership by placing all the eggs in the basket of GEJ and PDP. The best the Igbos may get in this administration are ministers which is just a constitutional requirement like you said. However, now is the time to start plotting and strategizing for 2019, it is not a time to keep crying over a lost political battle or plotting to run away from Nigeria because of a single political failure. Even the Ijaws and the rest of the Niger-Deltans have moved on since. For crying out loud, 2015 election is not the last election in the world! |
Swtworm:Forget this deceitful talk about Jonathan handling the agitation tactfully. The fact remains that 98% of the agitators were happy and comfortable with a Jonathan presidency so everyone generally sheathed their swords. Bad blood started as soon as Jonathan lost the election. Buhari also didnt help matters with his original lopsided appointments and unfortunate 5% statement. The agitation became reasonably loud before the FG attempted to jam the signals and I can assure you Jonathan wouldn't have ignored if the agitations during his reign were half as what it was post-election. Enough of this crap talk of 'Jonathan handled it well.' |
OperationIgrigi:I agree with some of the things he said but it is 'politically incorrect' for certain statements to be made in public especially from a notable figure. |
Eledan:Shouldn't be said by a respectable member of society. |
This isnt the sort of thing that should be said in public. |
PreyingMantis:Like I said, it may take you an entire century to realise that not everyone out there is given to these foolish tribal supremacy e-fights. And yes, you will never see me singing and dancing in public about how one tribe is better than the other and vice versa; I see that as an imbecilic display of inferiority complex and it totally irritates me especially when I see my own people do it over and over. Also, you are right about not seeing me return online insults to anyone insulting my tribe, that is because such a response would only make me as moronic as the person throwing the insults in the first instance. Now for you information, I would NEVER attack anyone's tribe (as you obviously want me to do to prove Igboness), I would also NEVER insult my own tribe as you erroneously allege. However I would only scold and continue to scold my tribesmen who I believe are making a mockery and ridiculing the greatness of my people. If that is what you refer to as joining strangers and enemies to throw stones into my father's compound, then so be it. |
More of this... on the long run, the SE would be the biggest beneficiary of the latest austerity measures by CBN. |
Yes!!! \ /We will get there one day. |
Crownvillar:I totally agree with you, the government seems to have always failed in the area of communication. I don't think there would have been much outcry if a reasonable notice period was given for the traders to relocate and if the deadline of evacuation was properly communicated. I wouldn't want to believe the date of demolition was announced but yet some traders still left their goods in their shops. Poor communication has always been the case in all government led demolitions across Nigeria. |
PreyingMantis:Common sense isn't too common and it is obviously not common where you come from. I was only making a general knowledge statement about Igbos being traders who need to travel because of their business. I was simply pointing out the economic difficulty and predicaments of the affected traders in adhering to the utopian advice of the Op to move their entire businesses to homeland. My statement had nothing to do with support for LASG's actions so if you re-examine yourself, it would be clear who the slowpoke you refer to truly is. And yeah, regarding what you think of me, if your idea of being Igbo means supporting some sort of foolishness being exhibited by some misguided folks, or if your idea of being Igbo means coming online to exhibit unnecessary tribal supremacy which always lead to tribal fights, or if your idea of being a proper Igbo person means foolishly joining in throwing tribal slurs, then you are definitely on your own; I would advise you to shove your stinking opinion (about me) up your a*s?... No one asked for it. Why have you always taken sides with the adversaries?I take sides with common sense, not any tribe. It may probably take a person like you a whole century of continuous tutoring to understand that not everybody in this world is petty enough to swim in the sewage of tribalism. |
Sharp man just using his skills and earning a living... Hopefully he doesnt get sentenced for what he knows nothing about. |
PreyingMantis:Can you kindly shut up and use your brain for once! I wasn't talking politics, I wasnt talking tribe. That your brain is skewed to see everything anyone says as a tribal matter is not in any way my fault or business. That you hold a silly prejudice against me is not a reason why you should wake up one morning and start vomitting your inaginations and ascribing them to me. What kind of early morning foolishness is this?... Can you kindly tell me how I threw stones at my fathers compound?... That I said Igbos travel because they are traders, how did your brain interpret that to mean an insult to Igbos?... What is even wrong with the heads of these Ipob sect people?... or is it my mockery of ipob sect that you interpret as antagonism to igbo cause?... How dare you equate IPOB sadists and misguided miscreants with the Igbo cause?... are you okay? ![]() Kindly point out to me where I said the traders should buy shops at 3million?... are you BLIND or cant you read?.... You are the one who needs to check himself and I suggest you start from the head and then move down to your eyes. You need urgent help. |
PreyingMantis:I am not the owner of the shops, I am not from Lagos state and I did not give any recommendations on what the affected traders should do. I was only explaining the simple economic reasons which push traders to travel away from their homelands to far away lands. Any human organism with half a brain would have understood the simple explanation I gave. But I obviously forgot I was conversing with someone that belongs to the ipob sect. |
dontjealousme:IPOB zombie spotted. ![]() Now to the issue at hand, the reason why traders spread their tentacles by travelling far and wide is because they are in search of a market for their wares. If the Igbo traders have their customers in the east, I can assure you no one would bother stepping to a land up to 30mins away from his/her homeland. Igbos are businessmen by nature and as long as that remains the case, travelling and living in foreign lands cannot be avoided. You probably know nothing about business that's why you think it would be economically feasible for all Igbo traders to teturn home. |
This policy although it has come as a shock and taken traders by surprise, hopefully it would favour the manufacturers and producers in places like Aba and Nnewi etc. However it may be, man has to adjust and survive. By the way, can anyone explain the complaint about clearing of goods in Kano?... what does that mean? |
Love Machine:But this issue has been thrashed and overthrashed severally on this Nairaland?... The strategy being used by the government to mess Dasuki up is that they have him charged for different offences and even in different courts. If he is released or granted bail in one, he would still be held in custody for the other charges. Even if he's bailed for all the current charges, they (FG) would re-arrest and charge him to court for another offence. What the FG is doing may not be 'fair' but it is within the limits of the law as the constitution doesnt specify how many times a person can be re-arrested after being released; this is obviously a loophole and the FG is expoliting it to the fullest. By the way, did Nairaland just censor your username to Love Machine? ![]() |
Love Machine:You guys (wailers) happen to be the most stubborn learners ever. What is so difficult for you to understand that he is on bail in one court and not on bail in another court? |
Hopefully they can seal the Mambilla dam deal and the coastal railway deal. |
Dentist |
Why is it always the same old story all the time?... The government claims they issued eviction notices, the traders claim they never saw any notice and then the government comes in the middle of the night to demolish. This trend is too common in Nigeria but who is really to blame ![]() |
micayo:Lol.. bro, i am not here to measure brain cells with you or to compare eloquence in speech writing. I simply asked if you knew the meaning of the word 'hypocrisy' as used in your sentence and you are here foaming in the mouth ![]() And yeah, in the past I have read plenty articles from those 2 Femis and until I confirm that both men are no longer on hard drugs and are now being sensible, I will read them no more. Thanks chakaz:I wasn't asking you to take me serious, I was only baring my mind MCRUEMUS:The man's reputation precedes him (just like FFK). When someone is in the habit of spewing only emotional poo, it is only normal for me to expect his next statement to be the usual dish. |
God forbid bad thing... If the police should ever search your house, that house will never remain the same. Arranging after they leave can take a month ![]() |
