Kasssandra: Yes, I know, but at the same time, when we brought in subsidy in 1973, we had two working refineries, soon to be fourby 1988, and now all of them are not working.
The reason is simple...run things at a loss, then throw in free subsidy money, the result is disaster.
Would you like to sell things at a price below what you bought it from the manufacturer, and then government pays you a subsidy that does not cover the loss? So that you can help the poor?
Niger republic, that is poorer than us,, and is an oil producer, sells fuel at N350 per liter. Because they need the profit to make their refinery run....the same refinery that provides them tons of export revenue.
The day you get subsidy, and how it works, you won't be asking me these questions. Bros the US subsidizes agricultural production and we are not witnessing crisis in food supply there. Other OPEC countries much richer than us still subsidise domestic fuel production why is Nigeria's different? Corruption period! Eliminating subsidies is like throwing away the baby with the bath water. All the cost push inflation we are experiencing is because we are importing fuel at international prices when we should be refining at local insulated costs and selling the excess not consumed domestically at inflated international prices which will not just boost our foreign reserves but improve our balance of payments position. Until we get a government determined to scrutinize the entire oil supply value chain with view to eliminating the latent inefficiencies we can't move forward. |

Kasssandra: Atiku is doing nada, nothing, zero....
The fact is, when you subsidze fuel...you make it difficult for petrol to be sold at a profit. At some point this would affect the petrleum sector and its workers.
Like the strike recently up North by some workers...the fact is, their transport costs have gone up, due to rising prices for diesel, and as a result, they couldun't afford the cost of transporting fuel to end user...because the bridging cost was not enough, even with the price increase...and then government too was struggling to pay them. So, they went on strike.
Atiku had nothing to do with it, nor did Obi.
When you set prices for a businessman, instead of letting them set their price, you run the risk of making them run at a loss. That leads to issues and problems. So, at the end, either they close down or they go on strike and demand their rights.
Whereas if there was no subsidy, sure fuel would be N260 or N400 or more, but the marketers pay themselves, instead of government...and government saves money.
But the APC you support won't remove it, because they don't know how to run an economy...so we now have a balloning budget deficit induced by subsidy...which can't cover costs. Bros you don't leave pricing of essential commodities to the forces of demand and supply unless you want to finish Nigeria patapata |
Politics › Re: Fuel Scarcity In Port Harcourt (Photos) by obi58: 10:49am On Sep 16, 2022 |
Kasssandra: Remove fuel subsidy and all this thing will end.
Not only would there be free flow of fuel, but the government will no longer be spending trillions of naira on fuel per annum
And at the end, there would be investment in the sector galore.
I know...high fuel prices. But then again, Kenya partially removed subsidy....because even the new guy knows that it is eating into their budget.
Subisdy must go. No exceptions. We cannot feed the subsidy monster anymore...it must be starved.
(P.S If you want to know why I say this read this link.) Have you bought diesel or kerosene recently? Can you afford to be buying petrol at N500 per litre? Subsidy is not the problem but the vast inefficiency in the entire value chain and the cabal that is smothering local refining of fuel. |

He picks his words and hit the nail on the head.
No doubt that, His Excellence, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu selected the most competent, eloquent and viable Vice.
I am certain, assured and guaranteed that, With Asiwaju steering the wheels of power, Shettima will be a good technician to find faults and make fast resolutions.
Shettima is a outstanding “Technocrat” and why he has a double T in his name! You're clearly just a joker. If that is the case why did Shettima not kuku turn down the invitation or better still show up at the event wearing singlet and boxers or bathroom slippers perhaps to throw off the so called detractors All this while I never considered Shettima as one of the lying breed of APC but it's quite clear that he was coached into telling this blatant lie which further undermines the credibility of his principal BAT and APC as a whole. The wisest thing he could have done would have just been to keep shut and allow the vawulence to blow over as Nigerians have pretty short memory. Instead he has just underlined the kind of desperation APC portrays which is to use any means possible including lies, bribes and propaganda to secure election victory. BATists are a really shameless bunch because how can you come out to sell APC after 2 terms and 8years of disaster and suffering for Nigerians who you betrayed their trust? SHAME ON APC!!! |

kingsways: 1. At the convention and before the whole world, Wike promised to support any candidate that won PDP primaries. He is failing to keep his promise
He was ready to keep the promise in spite of the last minute treachery of Tambuwal who he had stood by over the years but well... Atiku commited the own goal of disregarding the unanimous opinion of the committee HE constitued to pick a running mate for him. Atiku chose to ignore the strongest option available to help PDP secure the presidential ticket due to his selfishness.
2. Wike lacks honour. It's only someone who lacks honour that breaks a promise Is it Atiku that has honour? A professional party jumper? At least Wike is still in the PDP despite all the betrayal. What did Atiku do when he lost to Jonathan? Jump to APC! What did he then do when he lost to Bihari jump back to PDP!!
3. No where in the world is the candidate of a party compelled to pick a candidate he defeated as running mate. Wike did not contest to Vice President, he contested for president and was defeated. How can you set up a committee to get you the best running mate that gives you the strongest chance of beating APC and they overwhelmingly recommend Mr A but instead you ignore their advice and choose Mr B? No be JuJu be dat?
4. By fraternizing with APC, Wike is now wilfully constituting himself into a distraction and nuisance to the PDP. Freedom of association Sir. Wike is not just a member of PDP, he is also a member of the NGF, a detribalised Nigerian abs and an astute politician.
5. PDP can win without Wike. Afterall he was defeated at the convention with all the Rivers money at his beck. His immunity has less than ten months, and I hope EFCC will do their job when the time comes Let EFCC start with a certain former Customs officer and one emilokan like that.... That's even more disturbing is that the projects LASG gets praised for on Nairaland executing are more PPP projects. That's the beauty of the scam being pulled. Steal plenty money in grossly inflated PPP projects only to concession it out to their cronies in the private sector. Literally using our commonwealth to build their blood money. |

Oyetolas defence doesn't hold water for the following reasons:
1. EVen if Adeleke is disqualified, INEC will still give the certificate of return to the second person in the PDP primaries so Oyetola still loses. Though the case of certificate forgery has already been thrashed out in court prior to now.
2. Even if 10 local governments have irregularies INEC would at worst conduct rerun in those areas and not just disqualify the votes |

I now believe by the above tweet he made.
Is it just today that David is knowing that Nigeria supports a lot of our West African neighbours with financial grants and material support, aside from the many bilateral pacts we have with these ECOWAS neighbours?
Did the government tell him they were hiding anything, such that he is calling it "brazen" and "daring" for being legally budgeted for?
What manner of hysterical journalism is this anarchist trying to push to his mob of fellow hate group members?
Even if Peter Obi is voted President, Nigeria will still continue to support our neighbouring countries, one way or another, and they will be budgeted just as this "discovery" from an idle mind that serves the devil well. Pray do tell..... How much is a brand new vehicle that 1.4BILLION is being budgeted for this exercise? N140 million per vehicle? Are the vehicles bullet proof or perhaps they are trailers How much has ASUU been asking for that government has been unable to pay for almost 6months now but FG still has funds to support neighbouring countries?Honestly, Some of you have sold your conscience to the devil trying to defend the indefensible. |

SmartPolician: I am trying so hard to understand why Wike is being unnecessarily angry. Atiku has contested presidential primaries and election several times and lost. On every occasion, he picked up the pieces of his life and moved on. Wike only lost once and he is bitter. If he feels he's popular enough to become the president, take a bold step like Kwankwanso and Peter Obi and leave the PDP.
But then, Wike knows that he will become irrelevant in Rivers politics like Amaechi the day he leaves the PDP. He doesn't have a choice than work for the person the party has chosen over him. He has small Rivers State money and was busy insulting everyone, not knowing that he is dealing with a man who looted Nigeria's money at the federal level for 8 years and invested it wisely. Pray do tell... How many times Atiku battled the federal government on behalf of PDP issues like Wike has consistently done! Wike defended Edo and Benue states against the APC. Wike has always been of financial assistance to his PDP counterparts unlike Atiku who only shows up during Presidential election season. To make matters worse, Tambuwal betrayed him. Okowa who promised to fight for Southern presidency betrayed him. Of course Obaseki betrayed him long ago. Then Atiku still chose to refuse the recommendation of the reconciliation committee who overwhelmingly recommended Wike as vice. And to crown it all, shame did not allow them go and beg for forgiveness and sue for peace due to their treachery only to come to the Public and lie that they have sent emissaries to Wike since May till July that we now are in. Tell me the truth if na you won't you be angry ? As far as I am concerned PDP has lost this election because of Atikus greed and stupid pride. At least you know that Atiku has stolen enough money that if he wanted he would have been of more help to the PDP all this while. Instead he has been jumping from one party to another in hunt for his desperate ambition to become President and loot the country finish! |

This report was written by one KAZEEM Ugbodaga. I have never seen such a flimsy piece of whimsical journalistic ineptitude. This is to me the height of sponsored journalistic rascality and another product of the BAT propaganda machine which is dead on arrival an insult to the intelligence of the Nigerian people. He made mention of 3 clerics to prove his point. 1. An alleged Bishop Kamoru who was dragged on twitter as an urchin from Lagos masquerading as a cleric who he claimed is actually a Bishop from Maraba. No evidence was provided either by way of verifiable documents, interviews or Photographs to confirm this assertion. 2. The Revd Fr Governorship aspirant from Benue. No photograph or video was provided which showed him at the event. So here again was another 'opinion' provided as evidence. 3. The Ugokwe guy from Abia state who again was an APC aspirant in his ward who conveniently got an invite all the way from Abia to Abuja to appear in his religious attire which he did not wear in HIS OWN campaign pictures for office in Abia State. Is it now coincidence that he happened to choose to wear religious attire to endorse a Muslim Muslim ticket but felt it unnecessary whilst campaigning for himself |
