Romance › Re: Getting Married Even When You Are Broke by obiaguna(m): 7:56pm On Apr 09, 2016 |
Elxandre: Marriage is not everything!
My personal principle is that it's better to marry at 35 financially comfortable, than to marry at 25 broke.
I hate relationships getting strained over fickle things like money. Very disgusting it is. I can still remember what happened to someone I know after he married broke. Not something you pray for.
Edit..
I also believe it's very selfish to marry broke, because you don't know what your financial situation would be in the short term. How then do you cater for your kids if things do not improve before they come around. Except of course you postpone child bearing. You have spoken my mind. If it means saving at this young age and developing to earn more, I would do it till I know for sure that I can handle family finances without batting an eye-lid. All this talk of marrying at 25 without sufficient cash is suicidal talk. |

I'm beginning to notice a certain trend where father's and men have vehemently refused to live up to their responsibilities. If you ask some people around you I'm sure they can't remember the last time their fathers bought them anything. Someone has even stated it above. It's not a conclusion though but it's something I have noticed and yet we wonder why almost everyday is mothers day. Men pls and pls live up to your responsibilities and do your best to provide the basic things and ur children would appreciate you forever.
Op.. You can always try to ignore that phase although it cant be forgotten. Just do what you can do and continue your life. |

mapet: Bros,
There is a difference between what you stated up here and the allegation PDP is making. The truth is every organisation has various means of recruitment, from the open jobs published in the dailies, to confidential ones done by recruiting agencies and direct hiring. That you know a big man and gets connected in a job is also relative. These is done irrespective of govt parastatal or private sector.
The allegation is that the rulling govt filled FIRS with over 200/250 family members. A simple and verifiable list will add credibility to the accusation. We are saying the same thing. The story is not credible at this time. |
Romance › Re: How My Fiancee Tricked Me, What Can I Do To Get Out Of This Mess. by obiaguna(m): 7:27pm On Apr 04, 2016 |
At 28 I don't really see the need for a rush .The young girl is just 22 and she wants to further her education, perhaps, to increase her earning potential (which would invariably reduce ur financial burden) and also to make herself more useful to the society. It appyas as well, that she doesn't want to lose you and that she wants to complete her education before she finally settles down, which to me is a good decision. Masters in the UK is barely 12 months, a few finish before that 12 months sef.
As a fellow guy, I understand your fears but just relax and don't put pressure on her. Remember she is just 22. Gracias. |

ZajB: I'm not surprise at all. Sometime last month my colleague told me that his neighbour who works at the FIRS here in Abuja told him that they were recruiting and that he should go and submit his application and CV .On getting their he was told they were not recruiting and that even if they were doing so they will make it public. When he got home and told his neighbour his experience his neighbour said they were recruiting, maybe they have already gotten the people they want. Unto connection things. You are very correct. FIRS recruited last month in Abuja. |
Politics › Re: FIRS Secretly Recruits Over 200 Children Of APC Top Shots by obiaguna(m): 7:15pm On Apr 04, 2016 |
Even if I don't believe this story from the PDP for lack of substantial evidence, I know that partial recruitments has always been the forte of the FIRS. I acknowledge that recruitments are done on merit but it doesn't equate to the ones done behind closed doors. If you know a big man or woman and u have a fairly good result at least, then you can get in. |

SirAweezy: I didn't go to LBS... I have friends who are already producing result from what they got there and I am proud of that... I am not 100% sarcastic about Schools in Nigeria, what I don't like is hyping what is not worth it. (I am always rational with my Judgments) Well the OP didn't hype anything. I just checked the first page and I'm seeing tuition fees. What you think is not worth it is your personal business really. Cheers. |
Education › Re: School Fee Schedule For Covenant University 2016 by obiaguna(m): 6:40pm On Apr 03, 2016 |
Not that I believe those amounts written there but you can't blame the school entirely. If some of you owned private institutions, I'm sure you'ld charge the same fees as the one CU is charging. Fed schools are already subsidized by the govt and they have huge running costs all paid for by the FG and nobody gets to hear about it. Private schools on the other hand have to foot all their bills by themselves including electricity, fuelling, maintenance, building construction and salaries. You think these bills come cheap. It's for those that can afford it and not meant to everybody. If you can fine, if you can't then it's fine as well.
Pls CU is a quality school as well. Students well connected and placed in good positions in the private sector. Isn't that why I would want to cough out 5 million to get an MBA in LBS rather than Unilag? Abeg make we yarn another story |

Small minded man like the OP. You think it's by going out to eat like a glutton. I for one usually lack appetite when I'm out on a date and I would just go for a nice drink to keep my mouth busy. Sometimes I even take more than one drink or a chocolate and not eat anything at all. Doesn't mean shit...besides the guy in the picture and the environment looks clean and that's a point for him. Next pls. |

landuseact: Your profile is somewhat close to mine. I moved from Economics to Management Information System. Take the GRE exam, prepare hard and set a score target for yourself. I don't know what you are using to prepare but if you can also get the GRE prep exam from the website that really helps because it simulates the real online exam experience (timing etc). Your cgpa is even ok, mine wasn't even close. Like Slimmy said look for safe schools for funding. If you get high GRE scores trust me nobody will even need to motivate you further. I remember when I took my GMAT, I was so sad till I saw my scores on the screen. I was grinning like a village idiot. Hi Chief. Thanks for reaching out. Are you currently studying in the US? Is the GRE prep stuff something I can download and save on my system so I can access it from time to time. I was thinking my GPA was really low cos someone up there didn't get funding with his first class GPA so pardon my fears. I also intend drawing up a comprehensive reading plan and strictly adhere to it. Thanks for reaching out again. I appreciate. |

slimmy2005: Your GPA after conversion should not anything lower that 3.0/4.0. Try and apply to more than one school. University of Tennessee, Georgia Tech and North Carolina state university does that as well Thanks boss. I would look up those schools and stay motivated. I promise to update you regularly as I already have you on my BBM. |

slimmy2005: I did same but I do have sponsors anyway. What you need to do is to sit well for the GRE and apply to safe schools where you are sure of getting funding. If you have friends, uncles, aunties or any family friend that can help you with a statement of account then I think you would be fine.
Data analytics is a good program and I intend working in that field as well. Are you a comp science major or math?
But try and save money for your ticket and at least your first two to three months rent. I'm neither but I studied finance and I'm currently working in finance. I'm working with a giant start up in Nigeria (but my salary no giant at all)lol. So I developed interest in data analytics/business analytics as accounting/finance is too mundane for me. I already subscribed to Arizona state University and they actually stated that there were opportunities for funding but I haven't emailed the school to know if I qualify(I don't know if that's the right way to go about it). I finished with a 3.4/5 cgpa. What do you think? |

Did anybody here actually resign his or her job and then proceeded to apply to study/work in the states without having a sponsor. Been procrastinating on this ish for a long time. The thoughts of actually preparing for GRE just makes me weak. Can somebody just motivate me at least lol. I tend to get discouraged along the way and just give up mentally. I intend studying data analytics so I can have a career in fintech. |
