Politics / Re: Goodluck Ebele Jonathan by obiem(m): 11:12am On Feb 12, 2010
Well @ dis point, i don't even know what to believe, some say 'ebele' in ijaw is the name of a specie of fish while some say it's ebele not ebere. But i know that ebele and ebele are igbo names of different igbo dialects, some call it ebele while some ebere.

All the same tanx guys for the insight.

Long live AG PRESIDENT EBELE JONATHAN!
Politics / Goodluck Ebele Jonathan by obiem(m): 2:19pm On Feb 10, 2010
I was engaged in a heated argument with one of my friends yesterday evenin' when we heard the news that the senate has empowered the vice president to act as president. We were arguing about his name 'Ebele', my friend said it's igbo and that Jonathan is some retribalized igbo man(just like Mike Okiro). I disagreed and insisted that the 'ebele' name was just a mere coincidence in spelling with the igbo name 'ebele' and that they were pronounced differently. He never agreed up till now and i felt like asking u guys especially the ijaw peeps Is there an ijaw name 'ebele'?
Politics / Michael Kaase Aondoakaa Vs Dora Nkem Akunyili by obiem(m): 2:02pm On Feb 10, 2010
Since the 'disapperance'(permit my choice of word) of President Yar'adua, the polity no doubt has been heated up. From civil society, to the NBA, to socio-cultural organisations, political parties to the people on the street have all voiced out one common stand 'enact section 145 of the 1999 constitution', which ideally is the right thing owing to the incapacitation of the president. Before events took this shape, we all thought that it was the president's usual medical check-ups abroad but no it appeared that the situation was grave afterall. The AGF was the first to come out to say''the president can rule from King Fasial Medical Centre''. This his remarks infuriated a lot of Nigerians and made me look back to his antecedents before now since he came into office. Similarly, the information and communications minister, Akunyili was also in the 'bad books' of many Nigerians whose sudden likenesss for her turned to dislike for taking the job of 'LYING MINISTER', but her recent courageous memo seems like 'biting the hand that feeds you'. A new twist also comes in as the AGF remarks about Akunyili '' she's just trying to make herself a hero''. Indeed the former NAFDAC DG has vindicated herself in the eyes of many Nigerians but it's left to be seen where the clash will lead to even as we all await the return of the 'disappeared' president and how the country will fare under Jonathan.

Sports / Who Is Better: Tomasz Kuszczak or Lukasz Fabianski? by obiem(m): 9:11am On Dec 16, 2009
Both of 'em are Poles(Polish nationals) and are also 2nd choice goalkeepers for Man Utd and Arsenal respectively. I have watched 'em closely for some time now(even though Fabianski has appeared sparingly for the gunners this season due to injury), but i feel he(Fabianski) is a better option to the erratic Spaniard,Manuel Almunia. Same feeling i have for Kuszczak, i feel he's developing into good goalkeeper and the Mancunians can no longer depend on the aged Van Der Sar who(excellent goalkeeper in his hey days)but of late is injury prone.

The question now is who do u guys think is better? Kuszczak or Fabianski? I'll go for Fabianski(not because i'm a gunner) but i see latent potential in him. He's still 24 though,

Good to see all 'em literary icons/ activists talking: Soyinka, Achebe et al. We are all aware of this now, question is how do we ensure that the election is not hijacked by the ruling party in the end? Forget this INEC jibe, PDP will still contest this election goin' by the words of the Veepee and it looks likely that they'll rigwin. True words by Soyinka, anambra election is pivotal to Nigeria's future, it's a litmus test for 2011.

Politics / Prediction Galore: Soludo Will Not Win, But Rule - Primate Ayodele by obiem(m): 9:01am On Dec 09, 2009
Anambra 2010
Soludo will get ‘packaged’ victory – Primate Ayodele
•‘He’ll not win but rule’
From GEOFFREY ANYANWU, Awka
Wednesday, December 09, 2009

Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele is the founder of Inri Church and president of Inri Widows Foundation, Oke-Afa, Ejigbo, Lagos. He once warned Dr. Andy Uba that he would fail both at the ballot box and in the court in his bid to become Anambra State governor.
Uba was able to “govern” the state for a few days before he was ejected. Recently, Uba made another attempt.

He went to court urging it to declare him governor-in-waiting against the February 2010 gubernatorial election in the state. He failed again.
Ayodele reacted to this development in an interview with Daily Sun. He also spoke on other predictions he had made and particularly picked on Professor Chukwuma Soludo, PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in the state.
Excerpts:

Past predictions
Whenever I make my prophesy, I see the press as an intermediary between myself and the concerned people. When some people see it, they will not give it any recognition. They will say it is not worthwhile.
I have tried my best in saying it loud and a popular paper like The Sun on July 29, 2009, Sunday Sun carried the report. When Andy Uba did not listen, would I go and force him? I told him he would fail both at ballot box and in the court. Uba was adequately forewarned.

We have millions of prophets with different predictions. May be he has contacted some prophets who told him he would win. When it did not happen that way, and you now come with something contratry to what those prophets told him, he might not want to take it.

Soludo
Soludo will not win that election but there is a packaged victory for him. Those who take Soludo to court are just wasting their time. Not that he will win, but they will get together to forcefully give him a packaged victory. The victorious candidate will be robbed, but I am not going to tell you the victorious candidate. They will package Soludo to be governor of Anambra State. They will battle him from the beginning to the end.

If Soludo wins, the real victorious candidate, if he is not buoyant enough, he will not be there. PDP will win Anambra. Obi and Ngige will not win. It is only if the real winner is buoyant that is when he can upstage Soludo who will be given a packaged victory. A lot of problems still coming his way, they will blackmail him. He will not win, but he will rule.

The real winner will not be allowed. Except the person comes closer to God. That is the only way he can unseat Soludo. There will be more crises in Anambra, which may lead to ethnic crisis. The government has to be careful and watchful.

Prevention
Anambra people should go into serious prayers. They should invite God to fight the battle. The election of February 2010 in Anambra needs prayers to prevent troubles, kidnappings and stealing of ballot boxes.
They should embrace peace. PDP will take over Anambra this time around, even with peaceful election. There will be more challenges for PDP. The party will take it in a wrongful way, that is the signal

www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2009/dec/09/national-09-12-2009-06.htm

If this prediction is accurate(from the look of things, it's likely to happen)then another episode of Ngige stolen mandate drama will definitely unfold. Why is Anambra like dis?,
Politics / Re: Pdp: We Won’t Change Soludo by obiem(m): 4:31pm On Dec 08, 2009
PDP's hands are tied, perhaps they never anticipated the kind of backclash that would result after the 'handpicking' of Soludo as the party's flagbearer out of the 27 aspirants under the party without a proper primary. From one court of law to the other, they continue the battle to make Soludo governor'by all means'. What kind of country is this?, Soludo, my erstwhile amiable prof back then in my undergraduate years @ the University of Nigeria, Nsukka has metarmorphosed into a outlandish personality, with desperation written all over his looks(while watching him via internet reeling out his 'to do list') in the name of politics. I wish him well in his new found quest, but deep inside i have my reservations, It remains to be seen though

Unlike the popular saying which goes thus 'May the best contender win', Nigeria's electoral system doesn't apply this principle instead ours goes thus' May the best contender with the best machinery win'
Sports / Wenger Eyes West Ham Striker Carlton Uzoma Cole by obiem(m): 3:53pm On Dec 08, 2009
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to launch a January move for West Ham United striker Carlton Cole, according to a report in The Daily Mirror.
06-Dec-2009 5:19:35 PM

With Robin van Persie sidelined for five months with an ankle ligament injury and Nicklas Bendtner also out for a few weeks, the Gunners need a front man with power and pace.

The 26-year-old Cole certainly fits the bill, and the cash-strapped Hammers would surely find a bid of around £15 million hard to resist.

Although currently sidelined for around another four weeks with a knee injury, Cole appeals to Wenger because he is also eligible for the Champions League
Goal.com UK

WTF?He's injured! But emmm, He's a fine player no doubt(with 9ja roots), not cup tied, armed with EPL experience, Especially now that it's obvious; without RVP and the much criticized Dane, Bendtner arsenal has lost steem,

Timi is a House On The Rock choir member before he became West Africa Idol. He was a member of Potter's Treasure, that is the Heritage House, House on the Rock, Port Harcourt. His Pastor is Pastor Lanre Oluseye.
As for Nikki Laoye, she is the choir director of House on the Rock, Lagos (the head quarter church). She got her musical prowess being the leader of the choir and took over from Sammie Okposu after he left as the director of the choir.

Well alxmyr tanx 4 the info about Timi, didn't know all dat. But i expected his first effort to be gospel since he's a serious church guy(except if he wasn't). It's common with society women, those who are in limelight and for this 'cause', i believe they retain their maiden names. It's not african if you ask me, cos in my opinion doesn't depict total submission to the husband. Many women in Africa have adopted this norm and it's fast becoming the order. It was the expected outcome so i'm not suprised. The PDP hierachy is hell bent on making Chukwuma Soludo the next governor of anambra state barring any unexpected happenings which are likely though, thus breaking down the Uba hegemony existent in the state. That is my only joy but the question is will Soludo be better than the others?

Is his new found Igbo attire part of the re-branding campaign? i haven't seen him in anything other than suit before,

Music/Radio / Osadebe's 'osondi Owendi' The Most Sold Out Highlife Track Yet by obiem(m): 4:13pm On Nov 16, 2009
After listening to the remix of this song by the late legendary highlife maestro Osita Osadebe(Mc Loph ft Flavour) i began to appreciate the song more than ever. Though i never paid attention to what he was saying until i heard the remix well done by these guys. Recently, i bumped into a site www.premiermusicnigeria.com/Osadebe.html that the track is the most sold out yet in Nigeria. Though figures were not provided, i want believe(though based on my love for the music)that it's not far from the truth.

But like Mark Twain said ''There are three kinds of lies, lies, damned lies and statistics, we can't really ever know.
