buhariguy: what if hundred thousand people get it right. will you still pay the $100 to everyone
The projections are based on percentage with numbers ranging from 0 to 100%. It will be almost impossible for two people to get exact same score unless they copied from each other. And if they do, the prize will go to whomever posted it first.
And the winner is Buhariguy! He correctly predicted that Tinubu would win followed by Atiku and then Obi. He was also the closest in the points allocated to the 3 candidates. So the 100 dollars goes to Buhariguy.
The presidential election is fast approaching. It's now less than 100 days to the election. There's been lots and lots of permutations on who will win. I'm really interested in nairalanders projections on who will win in the six geopolitical zones, so I decided to create this thread.
I enjoin all nairalanders to post their projections on the percentage of votes each of the three major presidential candidates will garner in the 6 geopolitical zones. You may also post your reasons if you so wish. The nairalander with the closest projections to the actual result after election day will win the naira equivalent of $100.
An illustration is shown below:
North East Bola Ahmed Tinubu - 45% Atiku Abubakar - 35% Peter Obi - 9%
North West Bola Ahmed Tinubu - 25% Atiku Abubakar - 35% Peter Obi - 15%
North Central Bola Ahmed Tinubu - 25% Atiku Abubakar - 25% Peter Obi - 45%
South East Bola Ahmed Tinubu - 5% Atiku Abubakar - 15% Peter Obi - 75%
South West Bola Ahmed Tinubu - 40% Atiku Abubakar - 25% Peter Obi - 30%
South South Bola Ahmed Tinubu - 5% Atiku Abubakar - 15% Peter Obi - 75%
You can make your projections from now up until a day before the election. Multiple predictions are not allowed but you can modify your projections up until a day before the election.
Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, has said he would dialogue with the members of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and other agitators to restore peace in the country if elected president come February 25, 2023.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State stated this while responding to questions on insecurity in the country at the corporate headquarters of the Media Trust Group (MTG), owners of Daily Trust titles and Trust TV in Abuja. IPOB is a separatist organisation in Nigeria, which claims that its main aim is to restore an independent state of Biafra in the old Eastern Region of the country, comprising mainly today’s South-East and South-South regions.
The group was founded in 2012 by Nnamdi Kanu, a British-Nigerian known for his advocacy of the contemporary Biafran independence movement.
It was designated a terrorist organisation in 2017 under the Nigerian Terrorism Act and subsequently, Kanu was arrested and taken to court over terrorism-related offences.
The group had been accused of killing security operatives, politicians, traditional rulers and ordinary citizens. Its members were also fingered in the destruction of symbols of authority like police stations and INEC offices, among others.
In other parts of the country, the Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters have been raging war against the Nigerian state for over 13 years while activities of militants occasioned by oil theft have denied Nigeria the opportunity to benefit from its oil wealth. In the North West, bandits have been terrorising the people of the geopolitical zone.
‘My approach will be different’ While answering questions after his visit to Media Trust, Obi said, “I have said it times without number, Nigeria does not have more agitation than Brazil, if you want I will show you countries that have had agitations in the past, whether it is Brazil, Mexico, whether it is this.
“In our South East, it is a simple thing, I will dialogue, I will discuss, it is a democracy, and in a democracy, you govern by consensus. If anybody says he is not happy, you call him and you sit him down and discuss with him.
“People agitate in my house, my wife, my children. If you say to me you have lived with your wife all through and you people have never quarrelled, then you are not married. You disagree and settle it – that is agitation.”
If elected, Obi said he would govern by consensus and listen to all for smooth administration of the country.
“I will govern by listening to the people. I will visit every state in Nigeria. We have a huge land in the North that if properly invested and cultivated, will change Nigeria. The more I pull people out of poverty, the more I reduce agitation, the more I reduce criminality. What you are seeing in Nigeria today is a cumulative effect of leadership failure over the years and all I want to do is to be seen to be that man who changed this country called Nigeria,” he said.
Asked whether he shares the federal government’s position in designating IPOB as a terrorist organisation, he said, “I don’t want to go into that place. I have told you, I will dialogue with anybody, anything they like let them call you, I will meet and we discuss.
“I don’t like the way people were treated during the EndSARS, I will apologise. We must have a country of healing and love; that is what leadership in a democracy is.
“I am going to meet people in the North, I am going to meet people everywhere and say come, let’s be a family. I want Nigerians to be proud that they are Nigerians. What we have now is we have a country called Nigeria but we don’t have Nigerians. I want to bring back Nigerians.”
‘I’m not Igbo candidate’ While urging Nigerians to vote for him, he said he is not an Igbo candidate but the most qualified candidate among the 18 flagbearers.
“I am contesting as a Nigerian, I don’t want people to vote for me because I am an Igbo man or because I am from South East because people don’t buy bread cheaper because they are from that zone.
“I don’t want anybody to vote for me because I am a Christian; I don’t want them to vote because it is my turn, it is not inheritance. It is the turn of Nigerians to take back their country. I want them to vote for me because of character and competence, I have the capacity, I have the commitment, I am qualified,” he said.
If we are really sincere with ourselves. If we still believe in a strong Nigeria. If we want the best for this country. We would all vote for one and only one candidate. Search your conscience. Vote wisely.
femisplash: Imagine an NGO opening an account for political purposes on behalf of a registered political party. Peter Obi has turned an election into a ponzi scheme whereby every dick and harry operated different accounts for casging out on gullible zombidients. While Obi operates different accounts, LP has a seperate account, the national youth leader has his own, some media influencers have theirs, and now an NGO is also operating its own account. Obi has broken so many electoral laws and it's high time the law caught up with him. This man has reduced the country's election into a butt of jokes. Kudos to the NFIU for alerting the appropriate authorities regarding the ultra vires activities of the so called NGO, especially at the time of currency redesigning in which several drug barons are looking to dumb those stacked cash into any available accounts.
inoki247: Is the account linked to SCHUM for anti laundry if not na freezing straight....
One of my account colet Freezing last week cause of this same documentation and I didn't come to cry on social media I did the necessary things and it was unfrozen within 48hrs.....
Everything isn't crying on social media tell us the reason your bank freezes ur account..
So no be everything u go dey shout Government and be playing politics with...
if isn't documentation then consult a Lawyer is the account open for a donation purpose were the documentation completed if all this are in place then consult a Lawyer...
And the funds that enter the account hope any illegal funds or stolen funds didn't enter...
The Bank didn't freeze their account, the account was blocked by a government order. That is very very wrong whichever way you look at it! I will advice they take legal actions.
He needs to visit the people of Akwa Ibom and/or the groups that represent the people of Akwa Ibom. Udom and other elite politicians are untrustworthy. They (the elite politicians) might promise Peter Obi something but do otherwise. They are only after their interest and not the People's interest.
Kaysalas: I am not here to argue inanities with you. Obi's precedents is nothing to write home about. A big importer cannot come and bamboozle us with consumption to production mantra. Don't be fooled by sweet words or rather clannish interests. Vote for capability based on precedents
Pray do tell, who else among the 3 major contestants has better precedents? No one else. Not Tinubu who fed fat on Lagos State neither is it Atiku who fed fat from Customs. Peter Obi is not a Saint, but among the other two contestants, the choice is very easy.
Kaysalas: So na executive powers dem dey take create businesses Sorry bro, nonsensical reasoning irks me. No vex. One love, good night
Yes, executive powers can provide an enabling environment for the creation of small and medium scale business of which some can metamorphosize into big corporations. Don't underrate the powers of the presidency.
Kaysalas: According to your logic, if 75% of his purchased goods are locally produced, why then is he moving Nigeria from consumption to production?
He will move Nigeria from consumption to production once he becomes the president because he will have the executive powers to create many more businesses that promote local manufacturing just like his one business he had did. You don't expect his one business to move consumption to production, do you?
Kaysalas: Now, let's reason together; if the question was ; you've been accused of being a net importer but you claim to want to move the country from consumption to production, isn't that a contradiction? And he says he only imports 25% of his total goods. Does that seem to you a logical response to the question? Make we nor dey defend nonsense O! Abeg
It is a very logical response. Peter Obi responded by letting Rufai know that his business actually promoted manufacturing/ production since more than 75% of his goods were manufactured locally. He said his business created jobs/enterprise.
Kaysalas: I agree with your take until the bolded. You call that an answer to his net importer accusation? Maybe you should write down the question rufai asked him on importation again then play back, so you don't fall prey to Obi's emptiness
Peter Obi said 25% of the items he deals on are imported, the rest are manufactured locally. That answers the net importer accusation. Watch the video again.
Rufai Oseni asked many questions in one single breath and Peter Obi responded to each of them. You are being disingenuous by not posting the entire clip that captured the question and the entire response of Peter Obi.
Rufai's first question was on how difficult fighting security is due to the numerous criminals and the weapons they carry while his second question was on Peter Obi importation business (which contradicts his stance on production) and Peter Obi chose to address the security question first and then addressed the production question.
His response was apt. He was referring to the prisons to buttress his point that most criminals engage in criminality due to poverty. He said the same vigor those guys use on criminality can be reversed and turned into production. Doing that will improve production and at the same time improve security. Gbam...you have killed two birds with one stone.
AcuraZDX: MY CANDID OBSERVATIONS ON THE APC MANIFESTO.
(Please note that I am very much open to any form of debate on my positions on this document).
1. It is thin, peripheral, superficial, drab, unsavory, evasive & vague.
2. Thoughtless projections.
3. The numbers are not adding up or in any way corroborating with existing figures. A good example are the housing & GDP stats.
4. It is not quantitative & written to confuse. 5. There was an attempt to deliberately pose embarrassing figures since it is widely believed that Nigerian voters are generally "illiterates" & real literates don't even vote.
6. An attempt to bamboozle the public with unrealistic promises to increase oil output to 4 million barrels without putting explorations, discoveries, FIDs, capital spendings, new installations into consideration.
Meanwhile, It took us over 20 good years to get from 1.4m in 1987 to 2.5m barrels in 2007.
7. They're projecting an average GDP growth of about 10%. Haba APC!!!
Not even China's GDP growth averaged 10% over a decade.
Average GDP growth of 10% per annum would imply that some years will see growth in excess of 10%, say 15%, because there'll be years with single digit growth. Meanwhile, 2022 is going to see less than 4% o.
8. They're promising an unbelievable $780Bn GDP figure by 2027? When in fact a N550b mark by 2027 will be a miracle considering their thoughtless projections? GOD OF SHILOH!
9. They are promising to grow oil production by nearly 200% in 7 years? How? GOD OF T.B JOSHUA!
10. On housing, APC is promising that an economy with a debt burden of N42trn and a paltry revenue of N9.7trn will increase its housing units by 4.0 in 2023 to 8.0 in 2024 in successive progression per year.
Guys, I dare say that the document is bereft of the HOWs and the WHENs. It was drafted with the intention to confuse.
For me, this is not a policy document, but a PIPE DREAM at best. If we juxtapose it with the promises they made before, we have reasons to be very scared.
Without a doubt, Peter Obi of Labour party is one of the leading Presidential candidates in the coming 2023 presidential election.
To many people, Obi has little experience to manage the affairs of the country and should not be elected. Meanwhile, in this report, Legit.ng brings you some reasons why you should respect the former Anambra state governor.
Here are some of the reasons why you should respect Peter Obi.
1. He was the first Governor in Nigeria to legally challenge his wrongful impeachment and was reinstated by the Courts.
2. He was the first Governor to serve a 2nd term in both the new and old Anambra State, that is, almost 40 years after creation of the state.
3. He was the first Governor, whilst still in Office, to be appointed a Special Adviser to the President.
4. He was the first serving Governor to be appointed into the Presidential Economic Management Team.
5. He was among the first governors to be honoured with a National Award in 2011, while still in office.
6. Though the only Governor whose political party was in government in only one state, he was elected vice-chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum twice.
7. Though the only non-PDP Governor in the South-East (made up of 5 States), he was elected by the other 4 PDP governors as their chairman for 8 years rather than the usual one year.
Thats from legit.ng but if you ask me, there's even more:
He was the one and only governor to have a State Assembly with majority from an opposition Party and yet survived and performed for not just 4 years but a full 8 years.
He was one of the only two governors that left huge amount of money in the State coffers despite inheriting huge debts. The other governor was Musa Yaradua (Katsina State)
He was neither invited nor prosecuted by the EFCC after leaving office despite not being in the ruling political party.
He is one of the very few ex-governors that's not collecting pension from the State.
He was one of the few politicians who drummed up support for the EndSARS movement
He's gotten Man of the Year Awards from notable Newspapers/News Media Outlets such as Sun, Thisday, Silverbird, Leadership.
