Webmasters › Re: [SOLVED!] Cookie Not Set Using Setcookie(). Help! by obiscolly(op): 2:21pm On Jan 25, 2013
Gerardcole: Your setcookie() function is presented wrong parameters.

The "/" is not supposed.

I ve never used / heard of $cookie_domain so I guess its not needed or is wrong.

The last 0 is not needed, never heard of it.

You missed the quotes. Use either double ( " ) or single quote ( ' ) to enclose the string you are searching for.
It should be

if ($_COOKIE["auth"] == "ok"wink

Your expire time should be a time more than the current time. So add this:

$NextFourWeeks = 60 * 60 * 24 *7 * 4;

Then change $cookie_expire to:

$cookie_expire = time() + $NextFourWeeks;

Modify your set cookie code to:

setcookie($cookie_name, $cookie_value, $cookie_expire);

Leave every other parameters.
Thanks man! This worked like magic! I was really surprised. Adding one more parameter made it not work. I don't understand tho, cos on the php site, the setcookie() function is said to take up to 6 parameters, and the tutorial ebook i'm using says the same too. Well i'm glad it did work finally.

Thanks again.

sisqology: You did not parse the bolded part.

if ($_cookie[auth] == "ok" ) {

Echo "<P>Welcome to secret page A, authorized user!</p>";
}

//you defined a variable, you didn't use it
//try and let's know now
U mean the $msg variable? I used the $msg it later in the coding (in the html part). I didn't paste the complete code. Made the corrections tho, and still got d same results.
I don't claim to be a PHP expert but it doesn't look like your code below is correct at all. For one, you shouldn't be checking for cookie(auth) but cookie($cookie_name) - you assigned cookie_name the value of "auth".

Why not look at this simple tutorial, build from there, then do more advanced stuff:
http://www.tizag.com/phpT/phpcookies.php

good luck!
Thanks for the reply. The code seemed to work for the author tho. I tried using an if- else loop just to get a message if the cookie is created or not, but i got a negative response. Well, checking out the link you sent. Hope i figure it out soon. Thanks!
Webmasters › [SOLVED!] Cookie Not Set Using Setcookie(). Help! by obiscolly(op):
Hello guys.
I'm going through a php tutorial and i tried executing this script to set a cookie, but the cookie is not being set.
* authuser.php *

if ($num!=0){
$cookie_name ="auth";
$cookie_value ="ok";
$cookie_expire ="0";
$cookie_domain ="127.0.0.1";

setcookie($cookie_name,$cookie_value,$cookie_expi
re,"/", $cookie_domain,0);

$display_block ="
<p><strong>Secret Menu:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><a href=\"secretA.php\">secret page A</a>
<li><a href=\"secretB.php\">secret page B</a>
</ul>";
---------------------------------------------
* secretA.php and secretB.php *
<?

if ($_cookie[auth] == "ok" ) {

$msg = "<P>Welcome to secret page A, authorized user!</p>";

} else {

echo "<p>not Working</p>";
}

?>
When I click the links for either page I get 'not Working' rather than the message. I've checked browser settings. This code is straight from the author- so I'm not too sure what's going on.

Thanks-

Webmasters › Re: On-page SEO Vs Off-page SEO: Which Is More Important? by obiscolly(m): 10:20am On Jan 04, 2013
On page SEO is the first thing you should be considering because if your website is not search engine friendly, it will be crawled less by search engine spiders and even when its crawled your ranking will be quite low. So even before you start building backlinks and all, make sure your on-page seo technique is on check.
Webmasters › Re: Pls Take A Look At My Forum And Advice Me On How I Can Make It Better by obiscolly(m): 9:40am On Jan 04, 2013
@ensodev ur forum is pretty cool and has a lovely interface but i'll advise you reduce the number of sections for a start; because new visitors who see most of the forums have little or no post won't be encouraged to register or contribute. With time as you have more posts you can add more sections depending on demand. Was also really surprised your forum has over 600 members but the number of post counts don't reflect on ur number of registered users which maybe means that most of ur users are inactive or maybe they register for a particular purpose never to be seen again. Forums are not always about the number but about contribution. Even if you have 20 active members, that's cool, with time you'll grow. It doesn't happen overnight.

I also opened a new forum recently (december 16) and so far i have 14 members and a fair number of them are active. You can check it out at www.naijaimf.com.

@Emperorking same applies to you.
Cheers!

Yep
Business › Re: Can Anyone Open A Verified Paypal Account For Me Or Teach Me How To Do It Myself by obiscolly(m): 7:26pm On Jan 02, 2013
leopromz: DONT EVEN TRY TO THAT.... I WILL STRONGLY SAY YOU DON'T USE YOUR PAYONEER TO VERIFY YOUR PAYPAL, REMEMBER YOU USED YOUR ACTUAL NAME AND MASTER CARD TO GET PAYONEER CARD. SO IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. IF YOU ARE GOING FOR A USA PAYPAL YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS SHOULD GO AS SOMEONE IN THE US.
I HAVE RECENTLY HAD SEVERAL PAYPAL ACCOUNTS VERIFIED WITH THE SIMPLE TIPS I READ FROM THE UNLOCK PAYPAL EBOOK BY ELLIOT ALLISON AND THE WEBSITE YOU CAN GET A COPY IS www.pay101pal.com I THINK HIS FREE GIFT IS STILL THERE TO TEACH YOU SOME BASIC PAYPAL TRACKING METHODS.

REMEMBER WE HAVE SO MANY PEOPLE INTO SCAM ON THE INTERNET WHO NO NOTHING ABOUT PAYPAL ALL THEY DO IS TO SPAM AND MAKE NOISE WITH THEIR CRAPPY WEBSITE. SAVE YOURSELF THAT SHEET MY FRIEND.
My friend stop saying what you know nothing about and keep embarrassing yourself in public. Whoever told you that you can't use your real name to open a paypal account? Is there any software or site that can verify the origin of any name you use to open an account. If you have nothing meaningful to contribute just pass the mic.

And for the note, payoneer can be used to verify US paypal. Or you can also get a US virtual bank acct to verify.

Why exactly do you need an old account?
Business › Re: Paypal Account Opening by obiscolly(m): 4:48pm On Jan 02, 2013
If he doesn't have a bank account, he can create a US Virtual bank account. Get details here www.naijaimf.com/index.php?showtopic=15 But its best you open it urself here in nigeria cos even if he opens it for you, ur acct might be limited if u access from other locations. The link explains more on that.
Cheers!

I don't believe people are still paying to get their paypal account verified. This is no longer a mystery or secret. I opened a thread recently on this: a step by step guide to open and verify paypal in nigeria by yourself. I'll search for the link later. I also answered some questions on the thread. You could get the info from my site:

surveyProf: Mr. Chibuzor Eze, one thing you seems not to understand is that you're a business man, and as we speak you integrity is at stake, we expect you to do better than dis, by clearing your name, its very simple, all you needed to do, just like you were about doing in Donziko's case is to upload your bank statement frm a particular date or better still upload a copy of ur internet bank shot, if you hv indeed don any of this and the house sees it dat you and not guilty, den our plan was to PM the Mod to delect these thread.

Finally, I believe if indeed you are a responsible businessman, you're going to hv a rethink n do what is right!
Surveyprof, i appreciate all ur effort. But to be sincere with you, all this won't get us anywhere farther. After he puts up his account details, there are nairalanders here who will still say its photoshopped. Just like i correctly predicted that when donziko comes online, there would be people here who will still seek a different turn to the case probably to cause chaos or gain recognition. I personally feel we succeeded in donziko's case cos it was a business section matter and there were more valuable contributions. Now this has gone to the frontpage, forget about solving this issue online (in my opinion). The best bet for the affected parties now is reporting to law enforcement agencies cos as it seems, no amount of post that is made on this thread will further move Mr. Chibuzor.

Thanks.

demoreon: Yes 3weeks ago it was US, lastweek ireland, lastnight it was poland,right now as am typing this, its South carolina ,US.
You idea of VBA is really cool bt u nt concerned with withdraw which is the main thing. If you insist on VBA which cost abt 10-15$, how would u withdraw your money?
Secondly I hope u know most sites will only ship your goods to the same address that's on your paypal acc.
i'm not against payoneer in any way. Infact that's the only solution i know now for Nigerians to withdraw. After verifying, you can subsequently add the card. But if u can wait for over a month for the card to verify, its also cool. Just depends on the person.
