Jokes Etc › Land Of The Liars by obiscolly(op): 3:17pm On Aug 10, 2011
You are lost in a land of the honest and dishonest. The honest men can only tell the truth, and the dishonest can only lie. You need to ask for directions, so you approach a group of three men and ask if they are honest. The first man says, "Two of us are honest," and the second man says, "Actually only one of us is honest." The third man says, "That last man who spoke is honest." How many of the men - and which ones - are honest?

Nairaland General › Re: Inspirational Books, Do They Change Who We Really Are? by obiscolly(op): 1:23pm On Aug 09, 2011
I know books give knowledge in general, but i'm talking about inspirational books in particular. Do they really change our person for good (not temporarily)
Nairaland General › Inspirational Books, Do They Change Who We Really Are? by obiscolly(op): 8:59am On Aug 09, 2011
Please i'll like to hear our views on this topic. I've read a couple of inspirational book in the past, though i must say they really did raise my spirit and inspired me for that time being. But after a few days of reading them, i come to find out that the passion is gone. Hardly do i even apply those principles that i read in the book.

It is worthy of note that most of these books are not written by our home-based authors. The information they portray most times is a reflection of the society in which they live, hence can't be applied in societies like ours.

I can count the number of them i've read and most time i don't even finish them cos i feel they're not really adding anything important to my personality. I think they should rather be read for leisure.

Politics › Re: Traffic Congestion; Fashola Lunches New Vehicle Checking Device by obiscolly(m): 4:28pm On Aug 08, 2011
this is nonsense if u ask me, it can only be used effectively in technologically advanced countries not developing countries like Nigeria. very soon u'll start hearing complaints that the devices can't be used effeciently cos of bad network in Nigeria. I think fashola should focus on more important issues than all these crap he's talkn about.
first of all, this is in the wrong section undecided

Pardon my use of Financial terms, i'm not an accountant, but i think i can give u an answer though

i want to believe an accurate book keeping record is achieved when (Credit - Debit = 0) or the other way round, not sure which is correct, hence the basis for my answer

Credit part : (buyers end)
(amt each of them initial contributed - amount returned to each by servant) x 3 = ($20 - $2) x 3 = ($18 x 3)= $54

Debit part : (sellers end)
(Cost of Clock + Amount pocketed by Servant) = ($50 + $4) = $54

since, credit - debit = 0 , $54 - $54 = 0 *there is no missing $2*
there's no mathematical calculation that wld explain where that $2 has gone, it all boils down to the fact that as long as the buyers are not aware of the $4 pocketed by the servant, then everything is fine !

This is how some accountants Get rich overnight.  shocked , Hence the need for Auditors.  cool
grin
this explanation makes a lil sense to me but still really confusing huh huh huh

Jokes Etc › Riddle!- Story Of Three Friends by obiscolly(op): 9:59am On Aug 04, 2011
3 friends went to buy a clock and they contributed $20 each for the $60 clock. Later the shop keeper discovered it was for $50 and sent a servant to return them $10. The servant unable to divide 10 among the 3 keeps $4 for himself and gives them $2 each. So now each friend's expenditure is $18 only, $18 X 3=54, so $54 given by the friends and $4 with the servant, total=54+4=58. where did the remaining $2 go?? grin

pathetic! why do we use the slightest opportunity to turn every topic to a tribal dispute huh huh I already so used to NL so when i saw this on the frontpage i could almost bet this would be the eventual turnout. The NL moderators need to do something about this, lyk seriously. maybe start by banning jobless peeps who go around posting crap for a period of time. That would serve as a deterrent.

And funny enough, they're always the same set of peeps i see engaged in this act. I dont wanna mention names here. But its very immature of them angry angry
