Jobs/Vacancies / Re: "Umar Farouq Gives N-Power Slots To Senators, Reps: Shut Out Ordinary Nigerians" by Obiwiz(m): 7:56pm On Jul 05, 2020 |
Back2Daura:Think again. Try to do it smartly this time. Was it structured to be done that way? What happened to doing it the way it was arranged to be done? What happened to due process? Why can't we stick to the original script? Must we be disorganized? Lastly, at the constituency or senatorial district level, what is the guarantee that these senators and reps will distribute their given slots in fair fashion to their people? What if they choose to give it to only their cronies and well-wishers amongst the people in their sen. districts? What if they give it to their girlfriends who may not necessarily be from their sen. districts/constituencies at all? We have to start building the will to insist on the right thing. That's the only way to salvage this nation. 2 Likes |

abdul824:Now this is very true. All those ill-gotten slots, if they truly exist, will end up with the same common man. The common man, once he's able to get these crumbs from these politicians, will not only stop complaining about this slot issue, but will go ahead to start seeing himself as more 'privileged' or 'opportuned' than the others who couldn't get a politician to gift them a slot. The religious ones will say it is 'grace'. Until Nigerians are ready and able to stand up collectively, and demand the right thing be done in every and any procedure and process in this country, no matter whose ox is gored, we cannot make any progress. We keep selling out our ticket to bettering Nigeria for the crumbs the draconian powers give a select few of us intermittently, thereby keeping us and our unborn in perpetual socioeconomic slavery in our own country. 1 Like |

Politics / Re: How Can We Be Free From SARS, IRT & Police Brutalities? by Obiwiz(m): 1:54pm On Jul 02, 2020 |
proudevil:Quite agreed, that is a wrong approach. But his response is a direct fall out of the violence being perpetrated by some of these Gov't outfits against innocent Nigerians daily. Nigerians need to take a hard look at Nigeria, and stand up to rescue their country. No other ambition is more worthwhile at this point. 1 Like |
Crime / Re: ₦550 Million From Malaysia Found In A Teacher's Account In Anambra by Obiwiz(m): 12:40pm On Jun 20, 2020 |
EVILFOREST:In our country, the Gov't and elites already seem to have made legit hustling look stupid. And we can argue that the so-called developed countries have always provided a safe haven for looted funds and looters from our country, thereby indirectly destroying our country. Until the western countries learn to actively and directly deny our Gov't /public officials/elites ( plus their dependants) and their questionable funds entry into and investment in their countries, then they have no moral justification to talk about the 'IMAGE of NIGERIA' in any negative way. We saw pics and videos of flagrant display of wealth on Twitter the other day by a certain group of Nigerians; how is it that nobody is worried about the legitimacy of the source of such? What is good for the goose, is good for the gander. If we are sanitizing our society, then there must be no sacred cows in our sanitation drive. The situation in our country and our perceived international image will most likely keep deteriorating until we as a country are able to offer, based on equity and merit, realistic and tangible pathways to decent livelihoods for our teeming young and able-bodied population. This, to me, is the bigger picture. |

We and, especially our leaders are too lazy intellectually, add the dubious tendencies to that and you get the situation Nigeria has found herself in today. |

Apination:This is arguably the smartest and most mature comment here. Most times in life, the one-size-fits-all approaches do not work. Look at ur own situation, and approach it accordingly. The family is obviously trying to avoid extinction. |

gideonite98:That means these insurgents in northern nigeria that have not been subdued yet were trained for warfare too, ryt? Bro, understand that our penchant for cutting corners in almost everything has affected all our institutions (including the military) in this country. Most of the police or army brutality on civilians are simply because diz guys are armed while the civilians are unarmed. If civilians have dia own arms, there will be drastic reduction in police and military intimidation. Mutual respect will be restored overnight in Nigeria. |
