Guy, you don come with your opata yarns. When we talk of ICT, it goes beyond buying and selling phone and computer hardware at computer village. There's the Software and Hardware side to ICT. Your people merely trade in computer hardware and parts. The software, refurbishment and repairs services section of the market also exists and is in the firm hands of the Yorubas in the same market. You guys aren't generally known for skilled trades/labour, but rather prefer to 'buy and sell' -- this can be seen in igbo general preference for trading anywhere you find them, while other tribes like Yorubas are more technically inclined (go to Ladipo, na Yorubas dey into auto servicing and repairs while your guys trade in spare parts).

Even the president of Computer and Allied Products Dealers Association of Nigeria (CAPDAN) at computer village, a Yorubaman by the way, said:

Most of the promising startups in the IT sectors of the Nigerian economy, attracting heavy funding and FDI, are Yoruba-owned. And not just that.

Maybe he actually meant to say that even with all the other seaports in the SS which are closer to igboland, and their Enugu, Asaba, PH, and Owerri airports, situating a computer village in their region would still not be viable region coz they lack a big enough consumer market to make it so. Yorubaland has the largest consumer market in Nigeria, followed by the North and then the Niger Delta.

Look at the the recently released data on active telecoms data and you will see that their region has the lowest teledensity. They can barely afford to buy credit to load their phones over there in order to make phone calls or browse, compared to other regions. Even Delta and Edo have higher purchasing power in that regard. And that explains why they have to emigrate to other more prosperous regions to make it in life.

Haven't you guys realized by now that those over hyped markets are just that -- overhyped. Coz they aren't attracting the level of fdi and population increase (which indicates increased economic opportunities) that other states that don't even boast of such markets are managing to. If anything, that region (SE) is getting more and more depopulated relative to other states, for whatever reason(s). Even Delta and Edo have higher consumer populations than any SE state. That in itself speaks volumes. Enough of the false hype, dude.

It's also the richest and most industrialized. Every single credible data confirms this. While the SE has the lowest. The SE also has the lowest purchasing power (obviously due to their lower population compared to the other regions). The fastest growing states in terms of population are in the SW (Ogun especially). SW cities are at the top of Nigerian cities projected to have the largest consumer markets. I have attached some verifiable data from different sources that prove this.
