Jobs/Vacancies › Re: The Agony Of Unemployed Medical Graduates In Nigeria by ogawisdom(m): 12:37pm On Jan 09, 2016 |
Kenkesh: THE AGONY OF UNEMPLOYED MEDICAL GRADUATES IN NIGERIA©
It is no longer news to the world and especially to Nigerians, the rate and vigour with which corruption in its different forms has invaded every facet of Nigeria's institutions. It seems to have become part of the genetic composition of most Nigerians if not all.
An aspect that inevitably affect youth develepmont and empowerment is worth discussing taking the medical sector which plays a critical role in nation building and economic development:
1) Collection of mandatory levy from applicants --- this usually happens before the submission of applications for job interview, jobs that the applicant is not sure he/she will get.
While the present government is planning to alleviate poverty by paying the unemployed youth some token for their upkeep, these employers - so called government workers and heads of institutions - set up their own wicked strategies to impoverish these unemployed teeming number of medical and health graduates by collecting huge sums from them before allowing them to sit for job interviews. This is so common most especially among the teaching hospitals in the western and south-eastern part of the country.
Just last year(2015), UCTH and UPTH collected N5000 from newly graduated doctors for their interview. The same year UNILORIN Teaching Hospital collected the same amount for the same reason of job interview, LASUTH charged the same amount. Many other hospitals did the same. Currently, Ekiti State Teaching Hospital is collecting N5000 (being the price of the application form) from these newly graduated medical doctors. Bear in mind that these fresh doctors have to do their one year mandatory internship programme. They have temporary licences and must do this within a limited time. They are entirely on their own and must compete with one another and with doctors trained abroad for the few placements available in the qualified hospitals.
These graduates will not only pay the mandatory fee, but will also risk their lives transporting themselves to the various venues of these interviews, lodge in hotels and cater for themselves etc. Where will they get funds and supports from knowing fully well that they are yet to start work, implying that the burden stil falls back to their parents and guardians who must have spent enormously in seeing them through medical school. Why do these MDs and CMDs, want to further impoverish the already poor young graduates before giving them their rightful placements? Is it what the Federal Government asked them to do? These question demand urgent answers!
2) The epidemic of I.M (ima mmadu OR to know somebody) in Nigerian employment system:
Merit is no longer recognised in the Nigerian employment system. After paying a heavy application fee, working hard to pass an the interview, you still are not sure of getting the job unless you know somebody or somebody who know somebody within the institution who can secure the job for you. For example, how can the best graduating students of reputable colleges of medicine go for interview at institutions different from their alma mater & not even one of the best ten graduating students get placements. You have to know some body before you can get a job. Those that don't know any body are automatically hopeless.
How can you explain the fact that someone re-sitting his final exams (ie he has not yet graduated, has no license and can not apply for internship) nevertheless participates in the job interview organized by his alma mater and gets a placement ahead of those that have graduated.
The situation is really discouraging hard work among youths, since hard work is no longer recognised. NAUTH has been delaying the list of succesful candidates, presumably because of the same reasons.
3) Buying of placements: Here, the employer will collect application fees, conduct interviews, cast all the result of the interview into the waste paper basket and then commence the phase of auctioning the placements. Huge sums are unofficially/covertly collected from the employees before employing them. In UNTH and ESUTH, many have had to pay at least N150,000 and above before they could get housemanship . Is this part of the Youth Empowerment Programme?
4) Ghost workers in Nigerian employment system:
This particularly refers to a situation where an institution accredited and financially equipped to employ for instance 200 workers, decides to employ about 150. It then takes appropriate measures to secure the salary of the other 50 for the boss' pocket.
Ghost workers exist almost everywhere in Nigerian institutions. Take the case of UNTH that is budgeted to employ/train 180 house officers, but only employs about 120-125, with about less than half of them being their own graduants while the rest are abroad-trained doctors who heavily lobbied themselves into the system. This creates artificial scarcity of jobs, making it difficult and impossible for all the graduates to promptly do their mandatory one year internships. Just as happens during artificial fuel scarcity, these wicked MDs and CMDs enrich themselves grossly from these situations.
Another phenomenon probably unique to medical internships is the possibility of doing the internship more than once. The salary is attractive and there is lack of nationally centralized control over the internship programme. With the appropriate corrupt means at the individual's disposal, he/she can get a fresh placement in a different hospital and can do multiple internships. This obviously denies fresh graduates their rightful placements.
It is clear that our senior colleagues, our leaders, our fathers and our elders in privileged positions are the very ones frustrating the youths of this country.
What is happening in the medical sector is pitiable! The role of our CMDs is scandalous! The practice of young interns who block their unemployed colleagues from getting slots by doing internship over and over again to make more money is totally wicked and punishable by Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria(MDCN). The silence of MDCN on the ongoing mess is the height of negligence of duty to protect the profession from ridicule! Finally, the inability of young medical graduates to articulate their experiences and speak out to the authorities is an act of timidity. Evil thrives when good men fail to speak up! I just weep for our corrupt generation.
Let this serve as a clarion call to all individuals and agencies capable and responsible for looking into matters such as these to come to our rescue.
Thanks. God bless Nigeria Lol i thought doctors no dey find work as they will easily get one as they are scarce, nw I kw instead of lamenting u guys shld go into agriculture lik other graduates n forget medicine we all can treat our malaria n typhoid without Doctors |

Bad speed reference sensor and many more. As for your IPDM. From your explanation you have to press a particular fuse for the car to start. Family › Re: Wife's Infidelity; Please Advise. by ogawisdom(m): 3:09pm On Jan 03, 2016 |
AstuteJ: I need your candid advice on how to handle the various cases of infidelity against my wife. We have been married for 10 years with kids and I have never had any reason to doubt her until the following incidents began to unfold;
1. Sometimes in 2012, I took her to the market on a Sunday morning. She left her phone inside the car while she went into the market. A message dropped and I picked her phone to check, what I saw was a joystick sent by one of her BBM contacts. I dropped the phone aand pretended I dint see anything. When she came back, she checked the phone, saw the picture, deleted it and pretended nothing happened.
I waited for like 5hours to be sure she wasn't going to talk about it before bringing it up. She claimed it was sent in error and went ahead to call the guy to register her displeasure. I believed her and laid the matter to rest.
2. About six months later, I was out of the country. She called about 6pm that she needed to drop some items for a client at City Mall, little did I know she went to meet a man at Swe bar. I got back some days later and noticed she was all over her phone chatting and smiling while I was talking to her. I took the phone from her to see whom she was chatting it. All the previous chats had been deleted and I continued chatting with the guy. I could not flow well because the guy was coding and suspected he wasn't chatting with the right person.
I went through her phone for any prior message between them and I saw an SMS she sent to him at about 11:45pm the day she went to City Mall; "I just got home, please call if you can"! I did further findings before she confessed she went to meet with the guy at Swe bar and had to call to lis to me in case she runs into one of my friends. She claimed the guy is an old friend and had issues in his marriage, so she turned a marriage counsellor overnight to go solve the issues.
3. While I was still with her phone, the guy that sent his joystick pinged and I started chatting with him. The guy went very romantic and I cautioned him not to put me in trouble like he did when he sent an unsolicited pix of his joystick. The guy went "Ah Stella, but you asked me to send it na, have you forgotten? That you even sent me a pix of your laps taken in a dark room when I asked for yours"! I was speechless! He went "and you said you told your hubby it was sent in error and he believed you". I confronted my wife with all these and she still had some "stories" to tell.
4. We were at her Mum's place two years ago and she got a call, she told the fellow to come see her there. Her ex came in some minutes later to the warm embrace of the mum. We greeted and he wasted no time to settle in and joined the discussion on ground. The last time I saw him was before we got married and she claimed they never dated. The guy talked about his wife, how poor she is in home keeping, in the kitchen. on bed etc. My wife cut in "and this lady is supposed to be enjoying Andy o, cos I remember Andy knows how to take care of a woman, each time he came visiting in the university days, he always came with bags full of goodies". She even suggested seeing the woman to advise her and the guy said "no you are not in the best position to do that, you know she is not too comfortable with you".
All these happened right in the presence of my mother in law and I kept my calm all through. We left there after the show of shame and I warned her to cut all communications with the guy.
5. Few weeks later, same guy came to our church to worship. After the service wifey told me his kids would like to follow us home to meet our kids; I did not respond. Her mum and aunt was also in the church same Sunday and I drove them and my wife straight to my house. The guy drove behind. We got home, wifey went to the kitchen to cook, her mum and aunt settled in to a good gist with this guy in my own very living room. I picked my keys and left the house for them. I returned late in the night when they had all left and you can guess what happened afterwards.
6. I was with her phone few weeks later and another ex bumped in. "My baby, how are you doing, I have missed you bla bla bla". He requested they meet somewhere on the mainland two days later! After taking a second look at the unsaved number, I remembered the number had sent her an SMS; "can I call you now" about twice in the past. the second time I saw the SMS, I called the number with her phone but the guy refused to pick all thru the day!
7. Last Christmas dat, she gave me her phone to check something on her whatsapp and a chat came in from a guy I have been monitoring his number for a while. The excerpt of the chat is below (I took over the chat from the line he asked for her pix).

BlessedFellow01: I wish you all a wonderful, prosperous and peaceful 2016.
Before I get to the crux of the matter, let me begin by giving a little introduction about myself. I am in my early thirties. I have seen the good, bad, and ugly part of life. My early childhood was really good. My parents were not rich but we were comfortable. During my primary school days, I had the privilege of attending one of the best primary schools in the state. Things changed during towards the end of my primary education, and got worse when I lost my dad in secondary school. I will not bore you with so much details. I completed my secondary education by God’s grace but it was not easy, I must confess. After some years, I gained admission into the university. I struggled financially in the first couple of years of my program. I am currently a PhD student in North America.
Due to the experience I had growing up, I was not involved in a serious relationship with anyone in my university days even though I had very good female friends who some people presumed we were dating. The reason is that I knew I had a long way to go before settling down and there was no need for me to waste anybody's time or making promises I cannot keep. I believe I will get a good person when I am closer to my destination. I also wanted to “put some things in place” before getting married because I don’t want my immediate family or kids in the future to face the same challenge as I did.
I am looking to settle soon but the issue is that most of the ladies I have been meeting here appear to have a parallel lifestyle to mine. I am not castigating them but I have observed that most of them have been influenced by the western. They drink alcohol, dress shabbily, have more than one piercing in their ears. I remember one of them attending a church service last month and was not comfortable in her short dress. She was ashamed to go towards the altar when it was time to give offering. A couple of days ago, while discussing with one of the ‘single’ ladies she said whoever she will get married to MUST be rich. She also said her flat mate has same resolution.
Friends in Nigeria have been making recommendations but I have been wary of such recommendations.
Do you reckon it is worth trying or too risky considering the fact that I may not have more than one or two physical contact with the person if I eventually walk the aisle? Are good single independent ladies almost extinct?
Thank you all for you matured contributions! dts d best way to choose a partner provided u guys date for a period of 12months n live close enough to see frequently n take a stand on ur rship b4 going into marriage. every adult kws what they want in a partner n hw they meet d person is immaterial, d love story of everyone is different. d impt thing is dt both parties shld b compatible n prepared to love each other forever |

GAZZUZZ: There's nothing wrong with your compressor.
The idle speed valve is not allowing enough air in the intake to compensate for the extra load when the a.c is turned on. Clean the valve and ensure it moves freely by hand before re-installing.
Would have sent you pics of how to do it but I'm not in the workshop now. Tnks bro send d pic as soon as u can |

autofixng: The throttle body is refer to as injector mouth by the local Mech. Try service the injector nozzle as well. Replace the air filter and also check the fuel pump pressure and filter. Servicing all these parts will definitely resolve ur problem. OK dt was wat d poor mechanic told me he kws, he wanted to service d injector but I told him its throttle body n he said there is nothing like dt n he is 12yrs in d biz good to kw nw. My air filter is new, I will look into other areas u raised. Compliments of d season |

OK it's been a while folks I had an issue with this my machine carina e 4afe engine auto, 1.6l Now d problem, I have not been using ac in my car for over 6months BC d compressor leaks, I decided to change d compressor 3 wks ago and everything got to normal in terms of ac performance. D issue now is dt my engine dies out once my ac is on and I stop the car in traffic ie very poor idle . my rpm gets so low on traffic with ac on dt d engine switches off on its own. If I switch off my ac d engine will idle fine in traffic. D engine runs fine with ac on when I am accelerating or provided d car is moving. I have taken d car to my mechanic who increased d engine rpm to no avail, I told him dt my research showed he shld clean d throttle body but he said he doesn't kw wat I am talking abt n he has been a mechanic for 12 yrs Oga gazzuz, Siena n co abeg make una help. Attached is d pic of d ride NB: I have been running d car with a CEL for 2yrs without any issue having tried to scan d car but my scan port is faulty. I also replaced my o2 sensor with toks but CEL remains though it doesn't give me any issues. leave out scanning hv tried dt to no avail, am left with manual trouble shooting. My engine does nt short oil between service n no black smoke infact its mileage is 187,373km (na still tear rubber engine) n its factory fitted engine. I have to quit my chilling ac until this issue is resolved Mod no fp pls

lifeisabitch: A woman u know is good enough to wife, will you respect her enough to resist the temptation to ask her for sex on first date?
I know for sure that side chicks are usuallly slept with on first date. A wife material won't agree to sleep with u after three dates self  only a LovePeddler will do dt. U will even struggle to get sex frm a true wife material even after 6months of serious dating but once d sex starts coming no going back  But truth b told all na packaging, d way u approach a lady determines hw she will behave towards sex. babeabike: Here is my story ;
I got married early this year and I'm heavily pregnant (38weeks).Since we got married its been only my family and friends visiting that had to spend the night.Aside my MIL who comes like every other week to help and look out for me,none of my husband's fam Av had to spend the night.
Then last week my hubby informed me that his paternal cousin will be spending Xmas season with us.I first got pissed when he said he will be going to pick her from their place.I said maka why a girl of 18.but told him if he insisted, he can go ahead to do d pick up even though I found it unreasonable.
Since the girl arrived on Thurs, she seats like a queen in my living room while I sweat out in my kitchen(note I'm heavily pregnant). And when food is ready,my husband calls out for her to pick her food. Then yesternight, I said I'm not hungry and of cos tired and since the house is full of food, she should go and cook whatever she likes because of that she went to bed without eating.
Since that yesterday she started locking herself in the room.imagine? This morning she woke up forming stomach pain,so my MIL who came around did all the chores including cooking.
To cut the long story short.if this girl was my family,I would Av called her to order. But I've decided to be quite because definitely this is her first and last opportunity to visit.
My mum has been here severely since I took in and when she comes, she helps with all d chores inclusive cooking(note, she is a senior lecturer,no b say she jobless oooh).Even when my elder sister passed a night sometimes ago,she helped out inclusive folding all my husband's cloths(note she is married and also gainfully employed). That's just to mention a few of my ppl, others are my sis in law, cousins and even my friends. They never sit and watch me sweat out, talkless of a small girl.
I'm already thinking making up my mind that aside my Parents in-law,I may not entertain all those young cousins and relatives from my husband's side because I cannot take such shits.because if it wasn't holiday, would she wait for me everyday from work(after driving in Lagos traffic) to come cook for her without giving a helping hand.
Maybe its just my take but for me this is one of those obvious reasons wives bar husband's fam from coming around Jst manage d situation since she jst visited n definitely leaving in less than 2weeks, she may b a spoilt girl. Dnt b surprised she may actually dnt kw hw to cook or do chore |

Oyind17: I went to my elder brother's house for a visit and I lost my peace due to what I saw there. I didn't call him on phone before going, I knocked and their first son opened the gate for me, when I entered they were eating. Normally the woman was supposed to dish food if they needed more but to my greatest surprise she asked him to dish more, like an obedient servant he went to the kitchen to get more.
About 30 minutes later her younger sister arrived and the wife started sending him all manner of errands, she started with bring yam for Mercy( the name of the girl), he brought the yam and she sent him again to tie the yams together for the girl, I was pissed cos I couldn't believe my brother was doing that.
She later send him to their shop to bring some stuffs for the girl, I left immediately cos I couldn't bear it any longer. The girl is above 20
Is he under a spell or it's normal?
And as a man can you do this?
I need answers before I download what I saw to my no nonsense mum. I dey vex If ur bros is a houseman then its OK, by d way who is d breadwinner d woman is acting the man n this comes with being d family breadwinner, pause n do a little check she pays house rent, children sch fees n feeds d family |
