tallfish145:
I graduated in 2012 and had my NYSC in 2014 but since then getting a meaning job has been a major challenge for me. Though after my NYSC,I opened an hair dressing salon for my wife in my hometown but after few months, she asked if we can relocate to abuja(where we met). After so many pressures from her,she moved to Abuja sometime in March,2015 and i later joined her in April after she secured an apartment i paid for. I stayed idle(after many job search) for two months before i got somewhere(through nairaland). As a graduate,i was earning 20k per month and transportation to work in month cost about 9-10k. Due to stress,i left the place after 3months. Now,this is November, no job and my wife is threatening to leave me,for reason that she hasn't experience hardship when she was alone. Please advice me on what to do friends.

Bitterleafsoup:
Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Charles Soludo has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to abandon what he termed the ‘old Buharinomics’ if he must bring about the desired change in the country.

Soludo made the call while delivering a lecture at the Realnews third annual lecture in Lagos on Thursday which he titled ‘Avoiding the mistakes of the last Buharinomics’.

Soludo said there seemed to be a perception of the sense of nostalgia, a thing about command and control regime battling with what is required in a competitive market economy worldwide.

He said: ‘the element of the old ‘Buharinomics’ that we need to change include Fix exchange rate, fix capital control, import bans and forex rationing”.

Career › Re: I Work With A Dead Man's Certificate: I Need Help..please HELP A Nlder by ogawisdom(m): 2:38pm On Nov 19, 2015
db10dtruth:
Fellows I need help.

During my early uni days I got carried away by extra activities which pretty much cost me academically and even if I am among the best in my dept my result suffered, as a result my CGPA was embarrassing to say the least.

Upon resuming 300 Level, a good friend of mine did not resume, after a few weeks I was worried as you would expect so I traveled down to his family's house to inquire since his number was not going through and was told about his sad demise. He had an accident which cost him his life. I was saddened by what had happened because he was really good and was most probably the 4 best student in the dept, strong CGPA, a 2.1, he was really good not just academically but he had pure natural talent and the way I see it was the hope of his family.

On my way back so many thoughts were running through my mind....my result is poor and there's absolutely no way I can improve on that and still graduate with a 2.1 or even a 2.2 so I made a resolution.

On getting to the hostel I reflected on the whole thing and decided not to tell anyone but our course adviser. My friend was not the type that socialize, some persons in the dept don't even know him that well. He does all his things low-key, he's a very private person so I made an arrangement with our course adviser where I managed to convince him that it will be a shame if he's hard work is allowed to go to waste and amount to nothing, as usual with financial persuasion he allowed me to write his exams, I wrote both our exams until graduation where I graduated with a 3rd class and him a 2.1.

To cut a long story short, I did a change of name and began using his result; all this without anybody's knowledge but me and our course adviser.

It was very complicated but somehow I managed to use his result and even studied abroad with it, got my masters and other professional certificate before I got a 6 figure job in Lagos and came back home.
Ever since I got back I have been doing really well for myself and I have gone as far as taking good care of his family financially as well as training his siblings in school and presently sponsoring 2 in the university. I rented an apartment and bought his dad a car, I know it will never suffice for what their son may have done but I'm only trying the little I can to compensate for their loss as well as for pretending to be their son without their knowledge.

About 8 months ago I met a girl and we fell in love, we've been dating and 2 months ago I pooped the question and she accepted. We've been making our wedding arrangements but ever since I feel I have been hiding my real self from her and decided to tell her what I did many years ago. Initially there was no reaction but then this week she came to me and said she cannot get married to a fraud and gave me back the ring.
I'm scared and confuse she may ruin everything, she may reveal my secret which obviously will get me fired and most definitely a jail time. I don't know what to do, I have tried to reason with her and have done way too many explanations but she's not bulging. I don't want to go to jail and I don't want to lose my job. I'm really confuse. What can I do to change her mind or make her not to tell on me or get me fired or even worse go to jail?

Please I need help, real help please....you guys should share your wise words. I can't tell any of my friends, I can't tell anyone about my secret, this is the only place I can pour our my heart and seek advice.

I am dying inside. I have gone through a lot living this life of lie and its so hard but I cannot come clean, not now maybe not ever.

Please friends I need your help on the way forward.
The thing is that I think I have fallen in love with one of my female workers and it's driving me crazy.

I am running a sport betting shop and i have two female employees. Lately i have caught myself sleeping and waking up with the thought of her.

Am currently single and i love the qualities and character she possesses.

Three days back i told her how i felt about her and realy want to start something serious with her. Omo after i told her my feelings, she has been uncomfortable around me.

I told her yesterday that i noticed she is uncomfortable with what i told her. I told her i really value her services to my business and it's okay if she says no.

Honestly i do love her but don't really know how i will go about it anymore.

Please if you have been in this kind of shit before, let me know how you handled it. help a brother out please.

Please a friend of mine needs advice on this.

Her story:-

I’m a young lady, I leave with my 2 Cousins, a Niece and Nephew (both of them belong to my Cousins)
My Eldest Cousin which I leave with, some months ago traveled for another cousin’s child dedication and came back very ill, she was treated medically, but no improvement occur.
She was then taken to the Church for prayers. While in the Church, Sister, Niece and Nephew visited but I wasn’t allow to visit.

When I finally had the opportunity to visit, I was told she was no longer in the Church, but then I notice that her Niece and Nephew were still visiting her even though her Sister was with her in the Church. Finally, she came back the following week, looking so ill, few days after she was back, I was told to leave her house, I left for my Pastor’s house without moving my things yet. She then called my Pastor to tell me to come and move my things.

after work I went to see her, this was late in the night, she insisted I move my things that night, I told her it wasn’t going to be possible cos it was late, that she would have to give me till weekend. I have pack my things and left their house, now staying with my Pastor. Before I left, I ask her if they told them in the church that I’m responsible for her illness? No answer was given to this question. After all effort done to no avail, she was then taken to the village, just few days ago I receive a call that she is dead.

My question now is, should I pay her Sister, Niece and Nephew a sympathetic visit, to console them? I once ask a close sister of mine this same question, her advice was that I shouldn’t go to their house again, because the deceased drove me out while she was alive, why should I go now that she is dead? She advice I can always sympathise or console them whenever we come in contact with each other but never to visit them at home to prevent causing more problem for myself. So please friends in the house what should I do, I’m kind of confuse……………..
Hmmm better don't go there except u r ready to swear u had no hand in her sick n eventual death.

I hope u r nt guilty sha angry

@baminasri

I think you may follow my path. I graduated ten years ago with a grade of Distinction from one of the highly rated Polytechnics in Nigeria. I didn't rest on my oars, I joined a University for a Degree because of the numerous discrimination I suffered from employers of labour. I graduated with First Class in no time. Remember for you to make Distinction, you are not only brilliant but also intelligent. I didn't read my eyes out the way I did while in the Polytechnic. I proceeded for my Masters in the same University. I eventually landed my dreamed job.

I confirm to you authoritatively that there are hundreds of HND holders in Shell and Chevron, earning the same pay as their BSc counterparts. You may be better intellectually and more productive than many BSc holders. But what do you do when employers of labour say you do not meet their requisite qualifications?

I advise you to respond to the stimulus in your environment. Go and do the needful. All the best

chyna4luv:
why are you talking like this? who told you that HND is useless?
It was an HND graduate that won the NYSC national award last year.
During my NYSC in 2011, a Bsc corps member couldn't fill a common form where we were deployed for PPA, I had to guide her. Even where I am currently working now(name withheld) some of my Bsc colleagues whom I luckily see their good grades(2.1) can't even compose simple English and many more which I can't disclose further.

One thing you don't know about HND graduates is that, technically, they are better than Bsc. We take more courses than Bsc. in My HND final, I did Eleven courses even at that, the grading system is high. You must score 75 to get your A. I learnt that in other Polytechnics like IMT, is 80 to get your A.

So, dear you are lucky to obtain Bsc doesn't mean you should rate HND low. This dichotomy has been there even before you were admitted. what we are saying is, what is the way forward?

Regards.
Chyna4luv, HND, PGD(currently running).

Sincerely, you made some really good points! Bt i will like to draw your attention to one of your points which is "our Nigerian Polytechnics operate a 4 points GPA system as opposed to the 5 Points used in our Nigerian varsities". Brother, it is true. But I've you tried finding out about how polytechincs grade their scores i.e 70=A, 60-B? For instance, in my GF's school (university), 70=A while in my school (polytechnic), 75=A. Whats ur say about this?
Ur gf in uni is tot by profs n PhD holders while u r tot by bsc holders mainly. Ur jamb score is way lower n with incomplete waec result. Ur rectors r mostly msc holders while vc's r all profs. U r mostly 800 to 1500 in a class as opposed to 50 to 150 in unis, d very best lecturer dt tot u may not b qualified as an assistant lecturer in unis

Bros, no thanks for all the trash you just spewed regarding the GPA system. The polytechnic system is far more difficult than the university system as presently constituted.
I recently did a credential evaluation on www.wes.com with my HND and guess what , my certificate was equivalent to a US and Canadian postgraduate certificate based on the number of credit units which was more than 120 units required to obtain a university degree in North America. The most you can get your Nigerian degree is a degree equivalent. Keep fooling yourself with all the Nigerian certificate mentality.
It's unfortunate that the the discrimination is real, but if you know your onions you won't bother about the dichotomy.
More than70 percent of ur lecturers r mere bsc holders n they can become chief lecturers with dt while more than 70 percent r PhD holders for unis. What does dt tell u. D best hands r in the university to produce d best graduates
