Family › Re: Help My Elder Sister Is About To Marry A Man That Bad Mouths Her In Her Absence. by ogawisdom(m): 9:48am On Feb 06, 2016
OEmiohe:
My Elder Sister has been engaged to this man for about 5 years now and then people have been complaining about their long term relationship. Even my mum at some point embrassrased the him when he comes looking for my sister, he promised her marriage but has not done anything about it since then.

when I asked my sister she said he is saving and planning towards their marriage but this same man has been living with his friend in a room since I knew him even though he has been working since I knew.
At some point becos of age (32) was no longer at my elder sisters side , my mum decided to give them one of her flats to leave in her 2 storey building house. my elder sister and my mum ultimately financed the wedding preparation even to the point of buying his own cloths for his own wedding and while her fiance's brother supported him with 250k for the wedding since he just lost his job last December.

Now what baffles me is that my sister appears to be the man while he is the woman in their relationship since I knew then, although I have always adviced my sister to be submissive to him and stop shouting and controlling her fiance. I noticed so many faults in him like not standing up to my sister to prove to her his the man in their relationship which is clear to everyone.

Now just three days to their traditional marriage I was discussing with him and he was bad mouthing my elder sister to me and he later told me "not to tell my elder sister ooo". I pretended to take what he was saying as a joke but deep in my heart, I feel my elder sister is about to marry a man she barely even knows.

pls whats your I opinion about this?

Neverquit:
timilehing, here's what we did:

The ceremony took place in IB. Having a small ceremony was out of the question because of the large number of families and friends. Our parents wanted 100% or nothing, but they were not ready to contribute significantly. We were also not ready to spend money to feed people that do not really care about us. So, we needed to reach a compromise.

We insisted on the parents footing the bill for the engagement/trad. Less than 300k was spent. No need for hall or decoration because the party was at our house. The guests had enough variety to eat & drink. They had fun. The trad was on a weekday. You can get a small hall though. Another headache we avoided was no aso ebi, we picked colors instead.

A week after (also on a weekday), the parents, us, and our siblings went to the pastor's office for the joining. Afterwards, we went to a fine buka for lunch. After lunch everybody went their separate ways.

Not having a wedding reception saved us a bundle. No need for wedding dress, suit, accessories, decoration, cake, dj, etc.

The above can only be possible if both parties (you and the wife) are reasonable and can stand your ground with your families.

Hubby and I were not ready to waste our 'blood, sweat, and tears' on a day's ceremony. People will complain regardless on how much was spent, so why bother.

The end.
Extreme budget after una don go other ppl wedding enjoy finish grin

Family › Re: What A Husband Needs From A Wife Is Never Sex by ogawisdom(m): 11:29am On Jan 30, 2016
Blackberrybabes:
Sex is an important element in marriage and until there is sexual intercourse between a husband and a wife, the marriage is not yet spiritually recognized. This shows how important sex is in marriage.

When you look at how aggressive men are towards sex you may think that what a man needs from a woman is sex. Of course, if he has not married you yet or he does not really intend to marry you what he will need from you is nothing above your body. But if he really intends to marry you or if you guys are already married sex is never what he needs from you - maybe let me say it better; "WHAT A MAN NEEDS MOST FROM A WOMAN IS NOT SEX."

Many young girls think because they are sexually active and experience they will easily be married and have their husbands loving them. And when a man approaches for marriage they think the greatest asset they have to show the man is sex. Others also think once they are giving out their bodies it means they are giving out the best for which reason they will be chosen above all.

There is this young girl who is very beautiful and sexually active. Due to that she thought sex is all that matters to a man. Ironically, she struggled for long before finally getting married. Her sexual dexterity could not win her the heart of a man until out of the blue and reason beyond imagination a very handsome good man married her. The wedding was grand and her tears were now gone. Unfortunately only a year after the wedding the marriage fell on rocks. Within five years three different men came her way but none could stay.

The problem was simple. She thought sex was all that matters so she would never submit. But submission is what men need, not sex. It is time for our young ladies to know that when a man is ready to marry he will not look out for a woman who will satisfy his sex drive but a woman who will submit herself to him. Excuse my language, "every woman has vagina but not every woman has humility." So when you are a humble woman, you are an expensive jewelry. And a man of integrity will fear to lose you.

What does the Holy Bible say, "wife, submit to your husband." The reason is that a man's true love goes out only for a woman who is submissive. Your beauty cannot make another woman ugly but your humility can let him love you above all other women.

Sadly, many youngs ladies in our days call submission as "control." And you will hear them saying in tiny romantic voices, "As for me I don't want any man to control me oh." If you don't want to submit don't think of marriage because no man in his right sense will offer his love to a woman whose heart is higher than his height, no matter how short he may be.
When a woman bows her knee before a man, the man will automatically bow his heart before her love. And love her sincerely.

There are, of course, recalcitrant men who will not value women of humility but I tell you that every true man does not need sex, but submission. It is submission that truly makes you a romantic wife. So be the African queen you want to be but when it comes to dealing with your husband, play the role of a humble maid. Don't forget that it is the spirit of humility that has caused many maids to hijack their mistresses' husbands. Be your man's queen and be his maid also.

I wish you all the best as you submit in your relationship and marriage. May God bless you with good marriage, my dear sister.

Romance › Re: Why You Should Marry A Working Lady by ogawisdom(m): 9:50am On Jan 29, 2016
pinkydove:
So much relationship concerns are running it the minds of people, in particular between young folks. Most young guys and ladies are asking many questions concerning their relationship. Some of the questions asked are if it is alright for a working class man to date a girl still in tertiary school with the mindset of marrying her; others ask what age range is ok for a girl to have a boyfriend. Some guys are complaining that they found their girlfriend with another guy if they should break up the relationship? Most of these questions are the reason some relationships that have lasted several years come to an end with a shock.
This article focuses on why you should marry a lady who is working. Even as at this, it doesn’t mean that I am against dating a lady still studying in school, rather am aginst dating a lady that still thinks as she is in school. So read on to know why I write this post.
The climax of this article is that dating a working class lady has much more advantage than dating an undergrad. Why? Below are my reasons:

1. better at managing money
Dating a working class lady is so good because she knows and feels the harsh condition of the economy. Even though she spends, she does it with sense and not like ladies who don’t know that getting money is hard and spends anyhow. With this kind of lady, you don’t need to worry about the way your finance is being spent.

2. maturity
Going through work stress builds up maturity in her. Even though girls have a general nature; there is still a difference you will see between a working lady and an undergrad. Matured ladies are mostly needed for dating and not just ladies that begs for recharge cards all the time.

3. Her Hospitality Is Heightened
It is expected she has overcome the "Me Alone" character because a part of her salary goes to her family, probably. Sometimes, she transfers some to her siblings. Most of the time, she is left with a little. At those times, her display picture will change to "Family is all". True! Those lads in her workplace will be questioning, "what's she doing with her cash?". Now you grasp. You can be sure she will be of monetary help to both in-laws.

4. She Has A 'better' View On What She Need In Her Man.
She has met numerous kinds of guys, so her taking you is more of her "last resort". Having dated "many guys", you're one fortunate dude!
You can't count on an undergraduate that much. She still has numerous decisions to make: Uni, Masters, NYSC, Workplace, etc. Oh, men!

5. Financial Support
She can be of exceptional help when the weight of pre-marriage projects come knocking. Also, she won't just come into your home with her GMG, but with some of her things too that will benefit all. It's not mandatory but it's comforting, you know.

6. Less Time for Irregular/Childish Stuff
It's hard to find a Lady working who is preoccupied with work find time to live irresponsibly (partying). It might exist but only in limited cases. More often than not, she kills time with her dearest besties, not with any guy. If she is ALWAYS on Facebook, forget her. At least, you can tell she has a vision, a feeling, an impulse. Even if she is less occupied, she tries to improve her tailoring, dancing or drafting skill. She dislikes being idle. Above all, silly stuff like making money out of guys on the internet or real life offends her.

7. Work Exposure
Having to work with other wedded co-workers of hers, she gets to know the real necessities of every man thus growing into matrimony with some form of appropriate knowledge. (Just hope she doesn't meet the wrong women at work).
Thanks for reading

Dear Nairalanders,

I bring my humble self to thee like a child in need would.

After few years of working and studying abroad, I'm finally home. And indeed there is no place like home!

Yes! home is sweet and I am very happy to be back to my love ones, friends, and even foes that I cherish nonetheless.

However, I am writing this in a perturbed state of mind. The reality of unemployment is making me increasingly apprehensive.

I've got skills, experience, and qualifications to magnetize that dream job, but it seems like there is none in the haystack.

This write-up is intent on getting a job through Nairalanders be it directly or indirectly.

I am aware that some Nairalanders are in a position to recruit in their individual organisations. Some are also highly placed in the corporate world and as such have access to privy information that could open employment doors and annihilate the shackles of unemployment in one's life.

So, once again, I bring my humble self to thee as I am in need of a job.

Without spilling much information, I present to us a little about me:

Age: Mid Twenties.

Qualifications:

MSc.Financial Mathematics(Abroad),

BSc. Mathematics(Nigeria) First Class

Work Experience: Financial Analyst (Abroad), and Assistant Accountant (Abroad).

Technical Skills: Excel, VBA, SQL, R, MatLab, Python, Oracle, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.

Other Skills: Numeracy, Analytical, Interpersonal, and Good Communication skills both verbal and oral.

Other information is available upon request including details of my job experience and specific competencies.

All I need is an interview to prove my mettle and I won't disappoint you. Thanks you all.

Lovelykate:
Good morning all, What i'm about to write is so real and serious to me that i had to create this account just for this purpose. I don't know where & how to start but let me start from somewhere & be as brief as I can.

My previous relationship lasted for roughly 2 years. It started at a time I'll say I wasn't really looking forward to starting one, I was 23 then and 26 now. I had been in a few affairs that turned sour before now and wasn't convinced I should be in another at that point but I guess it was meant to be. I started dating my ex after about a year of platonic friendship, in the process we got so knitted together that letters cannot explain, we were madly fund of each others, it was such that we did almost everything together that you could mistake us for siblings and I knew I had inward peace having him in my life but in all these there were always issues from time to time between us which I saw as normal relationship issues. But these "normal issues" have rendered me shattered for the better part of 9 months & counting.

The plan for our future was mutual and we were on it when some time around April 2015 we had this misunderstanding that wasn't different from what we've been having previously, we had our different grouses. Among many others, he always complained about me not sticking to a particular instruction of his while on my part i felt i wasn't being appreciated. In the heat of this issues his project took him to a different state from me. Before he left he made some concrete efforts to reconcile us which entailed me seeing reasons with that instruction but i was too agitated to cooperate as i wanted my own demand to be placed above. It didn't work out that way and we gradually started drifting apart, i constantly started seeing things that pointed to the fact that i wasn't getting enough in the relationship & this gave me reasons why i shouldn't bother pleasing him again, i think i became fed up & maybe the feeling was mutual.

When he travelled I asked for a break with the intention that what we shared will make him appease me, drop his stand and hold on to us but he was truly unhappy and dissatisfied to consider such, I was too, we both had genuine complains i could tell & that was the beginning of the end for us. He travelled to warri for his project & on my part i did everything do away with the memories together which was quite tormenting. Fast forward, it's close to 10 months now, developing a closer relationship with God has made me see things from a different point of view, i suddenly began to feel more matured & stable to understand that i should have done things differently, (he is older with about 8 years plus).

I made my immediate elder sister who i live with support me & see reasons why i should be adamant but of recent but presently my new found way of life & opinions made her take a decision to reach out to my ex requesting that he gives reconciliation one more chance. The result of this effort is what has shattered me to shreds, we got to find out that his trad is second week of February, i had deleted every contact of his & family from my phone that i never got to know anything going on in his life & he didn't bother either, i guess he did the same too. I feel so broken with this development, this few months i realised that his love for me was 200% pure but i for once never thought he could move on within such interval, i guess i'm yet to fully understand the male gender. I'm writing this with a very heavy & confused heart, i jolt out of sleep daily praying this is just a nightmare, i never thought i could feel this way, it's a feeling you can tell until you get there, a lot running through me now, this is a position i don't wish for any female enemy of mine. My agitations suddenly look mundane to me now, this past months i've come to accept by revelation & understanding that he should be my life partner & he already was which is more disheartening as it seems too late. I never thought i will feel this way, getting over this totally in life looks impossible. I need help asap before i loose my mind. I'm quite known on nairaland that's why i had to get a new account just for this. My elder sister has suddenly become unconvincing in comforting me, my parents say i should let go but they have no idea of what we had. I wish I could undo a lot, i wish i wake up from a nightmare, i even wish the marriage is put off. I need your advice, where do i go from here, what do i do?
Learn ur lessons n move on, next time learn to b submissive to d man u love at least 95 percent of time

Career › Re: Ten Reasons Why You Should Be An Employee by ogawisdom(m): 8:08am On Jan 25, 2016
aprokomania:
More often than not, the internet is flooded with information on reasons why every one should be entrepreneurs. While I do not doubt that it is necessary that more people embrace self employment, it is also necessary for people to have an open mind towards employment and look at the pros and cons of both before delving to start the next Microsoft. The following are reasons why there should be more people in employment than there are now.

1 LESS RISK
Granted, it is a a fact that there are risks to being in paid employment, however, you are more likely to retain your job than a business start-up is to thrive in the market.. Statistically speaking, 90 percent of start ups are bound to close in the first five years of existence. In fact, by its very definition, an entrepreneur is one who is willing to take risks.
TIP, think of this-its almost always news when a company lays off a number of workers but it gets no mention when the same number of business start-ups or SMEs close down.

2 DEFINED WORK HOURS
It is an obvious advantage for many employees that their work hour is defined. Usually, right from your employment you are told when you will be needed to work, and often times, you get paid for any extra time spent. For an entrepreneur however, work hours are usually not defined as they have to work around the clock to ensure that the business goes smoothly.

3 DEFINED CAREER PATH
Also, being in paid employment in most cases offers you an opportunity to rise to the top of the ladder. It is expected that if you spend a certain amount of time, or put in extra effort on a job, you ought to get promoted as often as possible till you get to the pinnacle of your career. For a business owner, the career path is not defined, as your rise to the top is solely dependent on how well your business does. If it crashes, you burn with it.

4 DEFINED PAY
Related to the above point is the fact that with your rise to the top of the corporate ladder, your pay is defined as you go along. In most corporate environments, there is a fixed salary scale which serves as a guide for payment. This is an advantage because it can help the employee plan and make adequate budget for the month under review. An entrepreneur in most cases does not have this advantage because his take home pay is dependent on the amount of effort put in to the business. Fluctuations in monthly income is usually the case.

5 SOMEONE HAS TO DO IT
This point is pretty much self explanatory. Imagine if everyone of us owned a business, who then would be the workers to carry out the running of said business? That being said, who then should be an entrepreneur and who should be a worker? We examine that in the next point.

6 NOT EVERYONE CAN START A BUSINESS
An entrepreneur is someone who has developed the strength of character and resolve of will to be a leader and a go getter in the business world. Not every one possesses the innate ability to own a business. Several people have tried to set up shop and failed at it, perhaps that explains why there are so many businesses that end up comatose.

7 SPECIAL EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
Most companies have special packages to see to their employees welfare. Such packages include leaves, paid vacations, as well as healthcare and child support. While it is not a hard and fast rule for all companies, there are many of such advantages in paid employment. For most start ups actually, such fringe benefits are not applicable. It is not only the case with start ups however, but even established business owners usually do not bother to claim such special benefits for themselves as most have to see to the running of their business enterprises daily.

8 NARROWER RANGE OF SKILLS NEEDED
As an employee, you are usually employed to fill a particular need. For example, you may be employed in accounts, IT, or admin. Hence, your specialization is only needed in your field. For a business owner however, and especially with start ups, they have to be proficient in a whole range of skills and abilities as they usually are solely responsible for running and ensuring the success of their business.

9 OPPORTUNITY TO DIVERSIFY
As an employee in an organization, you can decide to pursue other job opportunities if you are not satisfied with your lot in a company. You can even decide to augment your income with other sources such as a business by the side of your main employment. An entrepreneur however must better his lot within the confines of his occupation.

10 OPPORTUNITY FOR LEARNING
Last but not the least is that you have the opportunity to learn more about how organizations are run, as well as other aspects of the job that will come in handy if you do decide to start your own business later.
So there you have it. While we do not mean to discourage people from starting up their businesses, it is ideal that you properly weigh the advantages and disadvantages before you delve into it. What do you think? You can have your say in www.hoomadeit.com/2016/01/ten-reasons-why-you-should-be-employee.html?m=1 comment section below.

Very good points. What does a 24 year old graduate know to start a self employment. You will only limit how far you can go in life. You need a period of apprenticeship. A period when you are humbled and undergo development. A good employment can transform your life and give you a solid foundation in life. I thank God my early employment completely transformed my life. With some years in an accountancy firm, Today myself and my family are british citizens with loads of achievement which I would not have achieved if I have to be my own boss. It is worth it. You can still find a good employment out there.
