I dont know of lagos. But in port harcourt, the military hospital is very good. I have had 2 people treated in the past 1year. The drugs are freely supplied by the govt and they are effective.

What i can say is that hiv treatment has greatly improved in nigeria. Federal and state owned hospitals generally provide free hiv drugs but you will spend about 5 hours to attend the monthly clinic and collect the monthly drug regimen

You will have difficulty re-organising the judiciary, The constitution recognises the tree arms of government to be independent, so you as an executive trying to reform the Judiciary, your efforts will simply be tagged as interferance. You will be taken to the supreme court and stopped at the supreme court from interfering. What will you do next.

There are three options you can take.

1. Attempt to negotiate his release with the kidnappers by your self. Agree on a ransom you can pay and pay it. There is no guaranty that this will work, it depends on the motive of the kidnap in the 1st place. You might pay and they continue asking for more money or simply kill him after collecting the money.

2. the 2nd option is to get the SSS to handle the issue. They have been somehow successful in some of the Kidnapping incident where they were involved. They aim to get the Kidnappers, so your uncle might be used as a pawn in the game of getting the Kidnappers. But they have a high likelihood of catching the Kidnappers more than anyone else and they are surprisingly very profesional for a Nigerian agency. But you have to figure out a way to get them involved.

3. the 3rd option is to go the the Police. There are anti-Kidnap unit in some states in the South South where Kidnapping is more common. I don't know if you have such unit in lagos. In many cases they will help you get your man out, but you will have to pay the ransom.
In some cases they even encourage you to pay a larger ransom than you can afford, making some people to believe they are part of the kidnapping racket.

Cherechy: I served in SEC and can tell y'all what's happening there firsthand. This woman just wants to be frustrated out of office for nothing. It is mere politics. The past 2 DG's were hausa and brought in so many of their pple esp as jnr staff. Walk thru d corridor of SEC an d hear hausa as d lingua franca.
Madam came and sanitised SEC. The market didn't collapse during her tenure. They ran d place down and left it for her to come and fix. She has cut all d avenues where they eat money frm and dts why the staff hate her. Let me list a few of her reforms in SEC.
1. Foreign course for staff used to be for 2weeks. SEC will foot d bill and all. These courses don't last more than 3days. Staff use d remaining days to shop and stroll around europe and america, madam came in and cut short foreign training to 1week. If it were u, won't u hate her?
2. The dept in charge of processing visas for d foreign training nw started doing chuachua. To liase wit d course organisers, book flight, arrange visas etc were their duties. Madam came in and told each staff to process their travel docts themselves. Book their flights themselves and bring d schedule to Accounts for payment. If u were d one enjoying frm dt dept before won't you hate her?
3. During christmas it is d tradition at SEC to give all staff a bag of rice and groundnut oil. The pple collating d list usually inflate. They'll add names of ex-corpers and IT dt hv since left and amasse d good s for themselves. Last xmas, when madam saw d budget 4 rice alone, she instructed account dept to monetise everything and pay the money into individual staff accounts. She effectively cut off dt channel for corruption! Well, d folks at Admin hate her for that too.
4. Before she came to SEC, there used to be overtime. If u wrk anytime after 4'0 clock u'll be paid I think above a 1000naira, maybe 1500 or 2k. So staff will close by 4pm and sign 6pm or 7pm at d register. Corpers and IT were living large then. In addition to 25k salary, wen u add overtime it was almost amounting to 50k or more. Wen madam came in, she reduced overtime to 195naira daily. Suffice it to say dt everyone stopped working overtime!
Staff hate her becos she has cut off all their avenues of eating govt money. Before she signs anything involving money she scrutinises it, sometimes it takes months for her to sign budget for ordinary office supply. At a point A4 paper was like gold there cos d store was empty. Yes, she's that thorough.

If anyone shud hate her it shud be me! Cos I wasn't retained after service. Before her it was almost automatic to get employed after service at SEC. Half of d managers there today did NYSC there. But she has said she won't employ for employing sake. She wants relevant courses to what is being done at SEC. Aflatoxins and mycotoxins are not an issue with cassava. You may want to worry about Cyanide, but I think Nigerians have come to learn to treat cassava with the respect it deserve. They have learnt to prepare cassava adequately to remove the cyanide it contains.

Fashola must be talking about the IPP created by Tinubu during Tinubu's 1st term. Obj was presido then. That was a contractual arrangement between NEPA then and the Lagos Gov. They are charged a premium to allow Federal Transmission assets to be used for distribution of Power generated by the State Owned IPP. What evidence does Fashola have that the power was not used in Lagos. Lagos consumes 60% of Electricity generated in Nigeria, How does he now know that the electricy generated in Lagos was used in othe states hence the request for the refund.

The man just gave you a clue and you say he is clueless. Go into cassava business! There will now be very high demand for cassava flour, The last time OBJ tried this, cassava flour rose from 30,000 naira to 60,000 naira in a matter of months. You can also go in sugar production from cassava, GEJ has told you 0% duty on the enzymes you need. Remember machinery attracts 0% duty also. So GEJ has a clue, but does the average Nigeria have a clue as to what he really wants?

The policy for incorporation of cassava flour in bread was started by OBJ. It worked for some time before price concern caused it to die.

At around 2006/ 2007 when the policy was in place, cassava flour sold in some cases as high as 60,000 naira per ton. This was greatly higher than the cost of wheat it was meant to substitute. The question is, why did the cost of cassava flour became so high, understanding the reasons will help in knowing the best cause of action in the journey of substituting cassava for wheat in bread.

One misnormer I find on this thread is that people refer to cassava Bread, There is no such thing a pure cassava bread. What Government is trying to do is to substitute some percentage of Wheat in Wheat flour with cassava flour. It is known that one can add up to 20% of cassava flour to wheat flour and not have any detrimental effect on the bread produced from the flour, so it is still wheat bread, just that a small percentage of the wheat is replaced with cassava.

The regulation as at OBJ time was that 10% of wheat should be substituted in flour with cassava, at 10% substitution rate most people can not tell the difference between pure wheat flour and wheat flour with 10% cassava. That small percentage replacement amount to very hugh saving in foreign exchange used in wheat importation.


What has not also come out in the discussion is the aspect of 0% duty on Enzymes for cassava processing. This is a great concession. GEJ is trying to spur an industry into existence by this move.You can capitalise on this and open factories producing sugar based products like Glucose, Fructose, Sorbitol, Monosodium Glutamate (Ajino Moto), Ethanol Biofuel, Cassava Beer, Maltodextrins, you can now even produce your malted drinks from cassava if you know what to do. People use High fructose corn syrup as substitute for cane sugar all over the world, producing High fructose Cassava syrup is easier than producing High fructose corn syrup, but will Nigerians think along this line?

The Glucose, Fructose and ethanol market alone is hugh. So instead of coming online and criticising the govt for every policy it makes, try and see how you can add value to the system by implementing the policy for the good of the society.

Has anyone actually wondered why Nigeria which is the largest producing of cassava in the world, is not involved in the export of cassava and cassava products, the reason is simple, we are clueless, though we prefer to say GEJ is clueless.

Why will a federal minister be quoting 1979 constitution that has been superseded by Other constitutions.

We have the 1999 constitution, is NYSC enshrined in the 1999? that should be the constitution of reference.

Also the minister arguement is faulty, even if the law says someone should serve in any state other than his home state, that does not make it mandatory for the person to serve in a particular state. Of the 36 states in the country, each corper has the choice of serving in 35 states plus the FCT excluding only his home state. So those posted to Borno state for example can opt to go to Enugu state or Lagos state as long as they are not from those states.
